why even farm when you can play a 1 time event and get 500g?

Given that, i assume, a vast majority of active accounts that were logged in were in the event it is no surprise that several dozens or hundred dropped.

I am also not convinced everyone posting a precursor in chat actually obtained it in the chest, or that they were all precursor. There are several named exotics with special effects, that aren’t precursor.

No, neither i nor any of the six other guildies i wad with received a precursor. Several named exotics though.

in my guild of about 20 people who finished the event, 3 got precursors.
3/20 = 15%
not a big sample so I won’t use it, I will use 1% as a low ball estimate.

Now, lets say 3 million people played on day 3. half finished the event. and 1% got a precursor. Now there is 15 000 new precursors added in 1 day.

As a semi hardcore gamer, I feel screwed by lost shores because the entire event was bad. The first day – bugged. The second day – nothing to do! The third day – 4 hours of lag and death and then getting nothing!

The fractals is stupid, nobody is even doing level 1 any more and I haven’t even started how is this good design? Ascended gear breaks the game philosophy. The gem store items sucked even if I would want to spend money which I don’t since buying keys during Halloween.

Dropping 500+gs in a 1 time event was the final nail in the coffin. Why would I want to play a game where people are rewards 1000x better for just being casual?

Long story short, my story is about the same. 4 hours running around in lag and dying and didn’t get any reward. The event ruined my entire enjoyment for this game.

One time events like this should not have extreme difference in drops. In a lottery, you can always buy again, you can always invest more into it. In this, you are just giving random people a lot of money. Also in a lottery, you have to invest for you to get an reward, this is what you have to do. In this event, people parked alts at the chest spawn and got items but others can’t even finish it. People got more money in 1 day than people who played everyday since release. People who didn’t get it can’t just go and get it again.

This completely screwed up the market as well. Almost the entire market crashed except for T6 mats, dyes and Ecto. People who invested in things are now screwed as well. Anyone who invested in a precursor before the update would have gotten screwed. Anyone who owned significant amount of any item would have gotten screwed. Even having gold is now worth less because people now have much more money in just 1 day meaning they can buy more than you. Why go back to grind for money? A dedicated fan wouldn’t want to keep playing if others are just randomly given so much advantage. Why would you play in between events if events give 20000x better drops? In 3 hours you can make enough money that you would never have to grind ever again. 3 hours during event = 300 hours outside event. Trying outside events is pointless now.

Just log in during events and do it. Get all the rewards you’d ever want from that. Grinding is pointless. Trying to do better is pointless. Just wait to get lucky.

I feel like there is only 3 zones in the game with any people in it, this makes the game feel extremely empty and also very boring. It was so much more fun at launch where you can just find people on the map that you can just ally with.

it was lively but Anet seems to take every chance it gets to drive away the fans.

they really should make it more worth while for the chests, they would make more money that way…

There is a flaw in that. Those that still manage to get lucky and get it….still make hundreds of gold in one day!

Those who would want to risk the RGN know what they want and what they are doing. For something like this, its stupid. Having to risk something to get it for a small chance makes it hard for people. With risk, people can also lost hundreds of gold in 1 day and people know that. Also most precursors made in the MF would not be sold.

If people are able to make hundreds of gold in 1 day by forging precursors then the game is broken. But since the chances are slim, the distribution is wide enough so that its very unlikely that people would be able to get a precursor without a large investment.

This event requires nearly no investment and giving extremely good rewards. This make the game a joke. Putting without a good spread for work and reward, the game dies.

Let’s not exaggerate what happened. To get the event chest, you had to get credit for the final event. You couldn’t just logon for five minutes. The chest included:

• 2 rares (at character level)
• 2 exotics (at character level) — tiny chance of named item, smaller chance for precursor
• an account-bound 20-slot bag (would cost ~11g to buy your own)
• an account-bound trinket, L80 (might cost ~2g to get your own)

So:

1. People who couldn’t play: 0
2. People who lagged out: 0
3. People who logged on for five minutes: 0
4. Vast majority of participants: 2-10g in marketable goods + 13g in account-bound items
5. Tiny number of participants: 100g+ in marketable items + 13g in account-bound items

One could argue that ANet created an unfair situation for the first three groups or one could take the point of view that ANet helped convert less than 1% of the 99% into one-percenters themselves.

(I didn’t happen to be one of those people.)

Catering to casuals never work out. They don’t keep their attention for long and the money dries up, look what happened to Zynga. The hardcore player wouldn’t want to work for something a casual just gets, casuals don’t stick around very long. So you end up with a dead game. Business models like this can only milk people then go bust.

My guild had maybe 20 people who got to finish the event, some multiple times, we got 3 precursors. Total amount of loot was about 250g after the event was over but this is still stupid how a 1 time event can do this.

I said this three times now, if I’m seeing people in a few of my guilds, and people on map-chat, even at this hour, basically a day after the event, at each-others throats, then something is wrong.

If anyone has a right to complain about any injustice, everyone who has anything invested in anything should have such a right. I guess wanting a nice world, even in a video game is too much for people to understand. Entitlement is completely the reason why people ever want nice things.

Anet does not have to select people. It was a simple thing where people happen to have gotten things. The lottery is a part where you pay to be part of. You have the odds and have consent to engage in it. If you do not win, it is not because of someone else’s doing. This was an Omnipotent force in a system changing the entire system ending with complete chaos. I don’t care if it isn’t life or death but its completely unjust by part of a sentient party’s decision that completely messes everything up in the system. If you do “win” this weekend, it is because Anet allowed it.

Anet is the reason behind the chaos the entire market will suffer in the oncoming weeks. Anet is the reason people the game will now shrink due to people giving up. Do you know what happens to people who don’t work and get a lot of money? Most of them quit because they have nothing to do, and they don’t feel the reward. The people who would get rewarded from farming are no longer feeling it either. If this keeps up, all that would be left in the game would be people would people who just won’t let go. Reward is part of the game, and balancing that is a big part.

Your opinion is such of a defeatist: the world is unfair, people are working for insignificant rewards that are just given out randomly every now and then, it is best to accept it. People who have ideals must be entitled.

Oh, you mean those guys who bought precursors during the first month when they were dirt cheap? Or the guys who bought them over the past few weeks when it was already painfully obvious that changes were on the way? Linsey stated several days ago the scavenger hunt is on its way, anyone who bought a precursor after that (but before today) should kick themselves.

The precursors were never dirt cheap, cost was proportional to the money in the game. 99% of people could not get them just as 99% of people before this weekend.

Finished to story and all there is left is try to make money and get items and get better stuff. Hard work! One time only events come! Now I don’t have to do anything really! what a great game! just come to the event! get rich that way for doing nearly nothing. I don’t even need to play the game any more!

I don’t know. Probably the guy trying to use printing more currency to lower the “cost” of a currency as an argument. Supply and Demand, it’s simple really. Let me put it in terms you can understand. People want precursors. (That’s demand btw) There are not many out there (or werent)(thats the supply for your simpleton head) thus the price is high.

The us congress as you just put it, added more of the precursors TO the market. Thus the supply is higher, the demand is the same, the prices will go down as people try and sell theirs. If there was any part that made your brain explode I’ll try and dumb it down into 12 year old terms.

Ill just assume you got a dent in your skull. People want money just as they want other things. this is demand. printing money gets rid of demand, problem solved?

large gold chests didn’t have 100% of getting 2 exotics before and they increased the chance of precursors from this chest. thus the chances of getting a precursor just increase some thousands of percent.

I don’t care what the chances are but 3 hours for more than 100g is just bs. Instantly richer than anyone who the rgn didn’t like when others have to farm 300 hours just to do the same is completely kitten Does Anet not understand basic economics? or how things are suppose to work? At best it looks like 40c per recommendation point. 5.2g for the exotics. 1.14g for a key and the rest of the stuff isn’t worth the money unless you really care about a few bag slots.

crafting gets you to level 20 the fastest but costs a lot.

I find the flame kick to do great dps. If the skill didn’t bug half the time, I would say its one of the best skills as engineer.

what gpu are you going to use? the i3 is definately the choice if you are going to spend $100 or more on a gpu but if you aren’t doing that, the A10 5800k will play this game decently well without a graphics card.

this is like tf2 drop rates for unusual hats. Some hats are worth thousands of real dollars. So maybe things in this game will end up like that.

At the current exchange rate over the last 30 minutes, you will get 16,24, or 40 gold. Most expensive item is chainsaw greatsword at 33 gold and dropping.

And this isn’t as high as the peak exchange rate.

the spread is just a flat percentage, I think its 20% not sure.

about 30 keys later, 1 skin and a ton of useless stuff.

I bought 10 keys for 900 gems which costed me about 15 gold and got a shoulder skin. Not too bad but I would have liked it to have been something nicer. Either way I think the drop rate is a bit low but still tolerable. Seems like a 1% chance to get a weapon.

There are other halloween related goodies, don’t need to all fixate on the skins inside the creates. I guess these will be like unusual in tf2, probably will be worth like $30 each when everything leverages out.

You could just pay $20 if you don’t like it. Its still much cheaper than a subscription.
