My opinion: Underpowered Engineer - It is realy bad at pvp and pve

Engineers need buffs but not because the class itself is underpowered but because there is so much to the class and it all sucks. Only very few build are remotely viable and solo engi builds can’t go 1v1 vs pure dps classes. Engineer also has the lowest survivability because the class doesn’t move very fast, doesn’t do much dps and doesn’t have any effective ways of running away. As an engineer on the run, you are only able to delay your death while many of the other medium or light classes either have more speed or skills for running.
I also find it really really annoying fighting rangers since pets are the most annoying things when you do a cc elixir and as much dps as I can put on an engineer.
People think its for countering bots, I think its for just messing with people cause any bot can easily avoid it just buy a simple log out and log in or do a few skills and resume the TP.
I find lower level zones are better for money simply because you can farm for lower level crafting mat which are currently easier to get and worth more than the higher level crafting mats. Vials of thin blood and such are worth more than the higher level mats.

I guess they sped up the process, took like 10 days for me to get mine back. I was hacked like the day the game went live and couldn’t play. They still need to fix what ever security hole that the hackers are using cause email conformations aren’t doing what they are suppose to from what I can tell.

Anet has crappy security. Same exact thing happened to my account.
Anyone know where I can find a graph over a longer period of time than the one they offer in the TP?
Also any good sites with graphs of item pricing history would also be nice.

Hello all. I figured I could post this in this thread instead of starting a new one. I am looking to also buy a new computer for Guild Wars 2. Probably from ibuypower or some other prebuilt CPU manufacturer. I’m doing this as opposed to building because it would take me tookittenlong with my current work schedule. I am willing to spend up to about a 1000 dollars.
I came here because I have been out of the hardware game for yours and don’t know whats the best out there for the amount I have so if anyone would be interested in selecting the parts and linking me to a great build for a killer machine for GW2, I would be extremely grateful. I am tired of my framerate dropping to 5 fps during events and its time for an upgrade. Thanks in advance!
If you can get something with an i5 and a gtx660 or radeon 7870, that would be amazing for this game. Its about $1000 on prebuilt sites and is probably the highest performance you’d need for this game with everything on max.
Anet loves messing with stuff. This is worse than the beta.

It really could matter less. If you buy something, its not just going to run with a 7970, unless you want to find a better prebuilt system for the OP, thats all he’s got.

none of that matters in reality and all that matters is how well it does in a realistic situation.
I just turn down settings on my laptop when I don’t play at home.
7870 can max this game and theres no denying that so why bother spending $150 more?
Would you buy an expensive videocard so just you could max one game? Or is it better for it to be a little future-proof?
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/598?vs=548
Theres no point in futureproof as that does not exist. The 20% difference between a 670 and a 7870 is insignificant to being able to play games well or not. When a day comes where the 7870 can’t play a game well, neither will the 670 offer much more, doing 40fps on a 7870 would mean you do 50, not a huge difference when cards become much better each generation. Here a compilations of a large selection of games and how well the cards rank with respect to price.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_7870_PCS_Plus_Vortex_II/29.html
By the time a 7870 can’t play games well, 120 pounds can buy much more performance than a 670.
Alienware is a ripoff. Laptops don’t game well either way.
You pretty much need a whole new system.

That should play it better than the original PC.

Level 80s do about 1-2G an hour max farming from what I can see, this is stacking magic find to the max and going to low level areas and 1 hit killing mobs, the events on Orr are slightly slower than that I think.
thats not how you do fractions.
Err….Percentages are normalized to 100%…. Yes, that’s how you do fractional percentages…
no. You seem to not get the difference between percent increase and percentage points.
190*1.35 = 256 which is clearly not the price of the 670. Try again.

Gainward GeForce GTX 670 2048M £309.95https://www.overclockers.co.uk/search_results.php?sortby=&groupid=&search=7870
For £190 there is only a B-grade card, sorry, but pass
Average low ~£199.991-200/310 = 35.48%, which makes the GTX 670 only 35.5% more expensive than the 7870, making those extra £110 worth it.
thats not how you do fractions.
The 670 is around £290-300, the 7870 is around £200-210, so you are spending 33% more, for more 33% performance… Ignoring the fact that the 7870 will become obsolete 33% faster!
670 is 300-330 and 7870 is less than 200.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/search_results.php?sortby=&groupid=&search=7870
190 for 7870 cheapest
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/search_results.php?sortby=&groupid=&search=670
320 for 670 cheapest
320/190 = 68% more expensive.
I want a pet char. Can’t I just enslave one and use it as a pet?
Anet will probably just sell underwear for 800 gems.
The 520 GT is a really really really bad graphic card.
Why aren’t there any spirit bears in this game? all I see is black bears.
dyes will become worthless if they are account wide on use. People will only need 1 set of dyes. I propose you can rebottle a die you used and sell it if you want.
I jump out of the level with jump shot. Was just in a cave with bad textures and no way out. Jump shot makes me do jumping puzzle so much easier at times. I think every class has a skill to do long ranged jumping. If you do the vista in lions arch, you had to use a skill like that to get.
If the 670 is too much money, a 7870 should max this game out.
True, but on everything else the 7870 is around 30+% slower than a GTX 670.
Personally, when I buy stuff this expensive I always think — If I’m spending this money to buy something good, might as well last me as long as it can, so going for the “just enough for specifically game X” usually has a bigger price tag in the end.
The 670 is also almost 2x the price as the 7870, so you are spending 80% more money for 30% performance, you are paying a premium for something you don’t need and its a lot of money.

You’d get like 15 fps.

Posted by: Esrever.8613
My laptop has comparible specs to that. I get 20-30 fps generally in PvE. 15 FPS in lions arch. This is at 720p with most settings on medium and shadows on low.
level 75 engineer, 7/10
would be more if I didn’t lose like 2 hours of progress I had yesterday and had to redo today as well as my world getting own in WvW when I was playing.
since the hackers can change people’s emails no problem. there should be a way to do this.
top demanded items means there is a lot of people buying them. And profit is good for anything with constant supply and constant demand. This game makes it simple to buy then sell back just buy a simple look at the lowest buyer and top seller for the items. Generally thats enough to make a decent profit.
Im actually not sure if I got all my money back as I got a bit more than I expect after I logged back in today. I picked up close to 10G when I expected to only be getting 6 or so.
cdrrogdan doesn’t seem to know anything about anything. Reading through his post, I feel like he really just doesn’t understand his own points. He doesn’t not follow through with his examples. I don’t feel like going through all of them but here is something.
Simple example of the onion price, if a lot people are selling and buying at 9c and 13c, anyone else who need an onion will pay 10c for it and anyone who doesn’t can sell it for between 9c and 13c. If people don’t buy for those prices, the items don’t move and the traders don’t make money. The buy and sell price for trading eventually collapse to non profit if there is enough people legitimately buying and selling at prices in between. Now, how does this seem bad? I have no idea. The equilibrium set by this will be because of supply/demand simply because nobody can buy items and keep them and not sell them or sell items they don’t have. If there is too much demand, people will all pay 10c for onion and the traders can’t buy anything, if there is too much supply, onions will be sold by non traders for 12c and a trader can’t sell their items. Its this simple. The only thing such a system does is provide a buffer for instant price shifts since there is always a zone where you can buy and sell instantly to satisfy a small influx of supply or demand.
Resources in real life can be viewed as unlimited to any individual just as they can be in the game, I don’t see how this have to do with anything. The consequence of failure in a game is not looking good and not being able to do all the things people do. Its is comparable to real life because most money spent in real life is no needed to keep people alive, people spend most of their money on luxuries in real life. To keep a person alive in real life doesn’t require money either, all the fabrication of money and items in life are cause by people needing to improve their lives. People want to work for money and spend it in game as they do in real life. Simple wants to be better than other, to do more than they did before or just to have More. Just as people in real life moved on from living in caves, people in games don’t want to stay a noob forever, they spend time and money to make things better, in real life or in game. The economy is there to be used or not in both cases. The united collection of resources for supply and an endless source of demand makes the trading post, use it if you want, don’t use it if you don’t.
If you belief game economy doesn’t matter, just stay out of the trading post and don’t bother selling your items to anyone other than the NPCs because why would you possibly care otherwise? Now I don’t even know why I’m on this rant but sometimes people just seem so kitten that it makes you think they need a kitten. I am way to lazy to proof read so w/e.
40-80 fps in PvE
30-60 fps in WvWphenom II x4 3.6ghz
radeon 6850.
everything maxed except shadows on low.8120 FX @ 3.4 Ghz
Radeon 6850 1GB
8 GB RAM
Regardless of Settings, around 12-18 FPS No matter where I am.Spot the exaggerator….
The game runs perfectly fine for me. I have no idea what you are referring to. Turning shadows down to low gets me about 10-20 fps which helps a lot when the game dips below 30 fps if I have it on.
Don’t buy i7s they are not worth it as you’d not get any more performance than the i5.
If the 670 is too much money, a 7870 should max this game out.
My 6850 and phonom IIx4 955@3.6 gives me 30-80 fps generally with everything but shadows on high and no FXAA.
Whats the method you are doing now? cause just playing a few hours of doing random stuff and events gets me like 2-3 gold, thats without doing any sort of farming.
Farming things for crafting materials and selling in the TP makes decent money. Also harvesting every node you find also gives decent money.
Farming high level events give decent golds as well as farming lower level crafting items.
I suggest getting an AMD gpu just to be safe for gw2 since there is still a lot of issues with nvidia cards right now. The 7970 is about the same price and performance as the 670.
I find it odd how people have so little understanding of simple economic somehow get the idea that its wrong while providing solutions that do nothing to solve the problem because they person does not understand anything.
The economy is fine. Learn the basics before you complain.
40-80 fps in PvE
30-60 fps in WvW
phenom II x4 3.6ghz
radeon 6850.
everything maxed except shadows on low.
The gpu is extremely weak. You should still run the game pretty ok.
you don’t need a z77 mobo if you are going with an locked cpu like the i5-3470 which doesn’t overclock, all z77 does is allow overclock over cheaper h67s and such. Go with cheap ram if you are on a budget, ram speed doesn’t matter at all if you aren’t overclocking your CPU.
out of curiousity.. why are so many people getting hacked? has this always been an issue? are you guys doing something to get hacked? like buying gold or something?
areananet has crappy security.
Anet has absolute crap for security, expect your account back in about a week with all items gone once you submit a ticket.
Some of my POI reset yesterday so I had to redo them, Im not sure if the same thing happened to you.
I just crafted my way for the achievement. Was pretty easy since I saved up enough mats for 40 levels.
