Identical Items not Stackable

I have several items which are not stackable; even though they perform identical functions and even have the same name. The only difference is one is “Account Bound on Acquire” while the other is just “Account Bound”.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Karma Booster
  • Experience Booster
  • Completed Aetherkey

Why would you make this change. Can you please clean this up?

Could someone explain conjure weapons?

I always thought these weapons were trash because you lost you’re ability to element switch when using them. Am I wrong about this?

Not quite true. You can still change atunements while wielding a conjured weapon. Useful for cleansing conditions, giving might, protection, or even fury (if you have the right traits).

Here is idea so that everyone gets what they want:

Keep the new system. Anet gets a money sink, players who enjoy unlocking can keep unlocking.

Have an option to turn off new system. Grants all traits to the toon – done!

Question about the application of Retal and Vulnerability.
If an enemy smacks you and you have Light Aura active and no other boons which happens:

1. Enemy does damage to you – procs Light Aura.
2. Light Aura procs, Enemy continues attack, causing dmg to you and retal to themselves.

Why would I want to continue supporting this game?

ANet has done some good things, with their last big patch. I appreciate the skill respec anytime, the wardrobe. But I feel they also messed up (see Trait unlock debacle).

Further I don’t see any patches unless it deals with Living Story or Tool-tip changes.

There is probably a large portion of the player base waiting for:

  • More community involvement. Don’t ignore threads. Including reactions to player suggestions (A More Magnificent Mesmer Main Mechanic – I know this will never happen but show you care!)
  • Quality of Life enhancements (e.g. Saved Specs)
  • Bug fixes. Check any sub-forum!
  • Class and Traits overhaul (I’m sure Rangers are waiting for a bone)

When all we see is game updates and improvements to certain sectors the game play (gem-store & living story) don’t be surprised that is the only segment of the player-base that stays. I do appreciate the fact that the goal was to have zero expansions and have the gem-store carry the game. But I’m not sure this is working. As far as I’m aware the gem-store exists only to encourage developers to make outfits at this point in time. ANet doesn’t even care to have the gem-store better facility player use in making transactions! (hello filtering!).

ANet… we want to give you money. Help us!
Let us know that you still have a development team doing the things players want.
Tell us the goals you are working towards so we know we should buy your gem-store stuff. Or make some of your features purchasable from the store. Will this encourage updates?

Party kick system

I can think of exploits such as the group getting to the last boss then splinting into different groups to sell the run. I’m not sure this would be a huge problem or what a cure for this would be.

So people who sell paths could reproduce the same instance over and over again? What is this I don’t even.

Thanks for echoing the problem which I identified in my own post. So helpful.
I brought it up for a discussion; not to sneak it under the radar.

Maybe it isn’t even a problem. Maybe all those Arah dungeon runs would drop from 6-8 gold to 1 gold if everyone can become an instance owner.

I do think my suggestion has some merit; but with flaws. Discus.

A possible solution: The person getting kicked doesn’t leave the dungeon, but instead spawns into a new instance of the dungeon. At the last checkpoint achieved by the group.

From the perspective the person kicked it would be as if the other 4 players left group, and they teleport to the respawn point (If they were engaged in combat with a boss the boss is also reset to 100% health).

Ergo the person kicked wouldn’t lose that much in progression and their time spent. They could at this point just form a new party.

Can I share my account with my brother?

One thing you should be aware of is that money collected, karma, tokens, etc are all stored in an account wallet. So it is not possible for your character and his character to have their own pool of money.

Boon duration VS Healing power?

boon duration is calculated not as a fraction, but as a decimal value. So 15.6 seconds is valid. The tooltips only show fractions for readability. Don’t trust tooltips. The tooltips I think round-down to the nearest fraction. And often they can be wrong. But the real value will be a decimal.

Players focusing on boon duration should focus on boon duration. I wouldn’t worry about maximizing whole seconds for regen alone. You will likely activate a variety of other boons. You have not stated a build or class, so I cannot really comment much about this.

Further, what area of the game are you playing? Solo? If you play with any other player they too may not offer up enough boon duration for themselves but together you may just get that extra 1 second.

There is also plenty of ways on upping your Boon Duration too. Trait Points in an appropriate trait line, Certain traits, runes on armor, food, accessory upgrades, certain skills on certain classes.

As a note all boon durations are capped at 100%. So do not aim for a value above this.

Correct. Boon Duration is based on the applier.

As for might, if your X stack of might lasts 5.8 seconds and you make an attack 5.5 seconds into your duration…. then you fully benefit. Boons do indeed reference the fraction of the second for expiration timer. As a note; Might is not a damage “tick”, it is a personal enhancement to your stats.

For a boon like Regen it’ll only benefit you on whole seconds. Not partial seconds. So 1.3 seconds is no better than 1 second.

However it is worth noting that fracions add up. So if you stood in a Guardian symbol which gives 1.3 seconds of regen for 4 seconds…. you’ll have 5.2 seconds of regen. You got 1 extra second.

Many other boons are not entirely dependent on whole seconds. Such as “might”, so partial seconds is still worth it.

Right Click Menu:

  • Why can I do guild management from my party? Guild management should be performed from the Guild UI not party UI.
  • Why can we not kick offline players from our party? What a hassle to disband parties because 1 guy went offline.
  • Why can I not right click a person’s name in “chat” and invite/join them?
  • If I’m a party of two people, why can I not right click and join/merge a party of 3 people?

Report/Block:

  • Combine this Right click menu option to 1 option.
  • Clicking this opens a dialog presenting you with choices – select all that apply: block, scamming, spamming, selling gold, harassment, etc.
  • Give a msg box for people to explain why
  • when “blocking” also squelch that person’s messages: I don’t want to see further messages. I don’t want to see the old messages (delete from my chat history)

Wiki:

  • right click items to open wiki page
  • right click chat code links of items to open wiki page
  • right click quest, personal story, etc to open wiki page

Guild Management:

  • Add a check-box – Show online members only. (it sucks to sort by people’s name, etc but all the offline guildies show up intermixed)
  • Last Online (enough said)

In Game Item Preview:

  • Add Day/Night check-box.
  • Allow me to preview any item easily on my toon
  • Allow me to preview any DYE in any SLOT on my toon.
  • Allow clicking on the item in the preview screen to open the wiki page for that item.

Buffs:

  • Move the banner buffs out of the buff bar – display them somewhere else. Also for other similar buffs. (such as guild claim buffs, boosters, etc)
  • ALWAYS display boons and conditions in the SAME order (possibly in the same exact spot. I hate looking to see if I have stability but it keeps shifting.)
  • ALWAYS display conditions below boons; in a spot that corresponds to its natural boon counterpart (in the best possible spot)
  • ALWAYS display FOOD and WRENCHES together (don’t split; this can be kept on the buff bar)
  • ALWAYS display class boons together (like if I’m on my guardian I don’t like to see my virtues all over the place)
  • Increase the visibility of the duration. Sometimes the countdown is starting from 40 seconds, sometimes the countdown is from 5 seconds.

Achievements:

  • Giant Killer (add risen giants, world bosses : way too few “actual” giants – I’ve seen this suggested before)
  • When killing a mob give the offhand weapon credit too; and credit for kills from condition damage (for weapon master)
  • Hide Completed Achievements Check-box

Vigil / Priory / Whispers:

  • Once unlocked allow any character to purchase items directly. (Or the very least make the items Account Bound on purchase instead of Soul Bound)
  • Could it be possible to get a quartermaster for these armors in LA

Map Secrets:

  • Diving Goggles – Once found, could we get a personal map indicator?
  • Jumping Puzzles – Add icons for discovered JPs. (and please put the JP name on the Map icon)
  • Add a map toggle for “Map Secrets”

Game Camera:

  • Add first person view
  • Allow to change camera height (or at least while not moving – just a couple of feet up and down)
  • Allow players to change their FoV

Friends List:

  • Show Last on-line (just like what we want on the Guild UI)

Gem Store:

  • For the style tab – have 5 options for filtering: Light armor, Medium armor, Heavy armor, Town Clothes, All.

Auction House:

  • please add filters for light/medium/heavy armor
  • please add a check-box for “usable only”
  • how come there is no dye category? How come some categories have nothing in them?
  • When I change tabs and come back to the search pane all my search settings are gone! Please fix.

Bank:

  • please add in an ability to hide the character’s inventory slots in the bank UI (I personally use my Inventory UI and drag across. I know how my normal inventory is sorted, and it appears on 1 screen without scroll bars. The Bank inventory of my personal inventory has scroll bars, and takes up too much space, esp if I’m using my normal inventory screen too.)
  • Split Collectibles into two tabs – Collectibles=Pets,etc, Materials=things you craft with
  • Add another TAB: PvP skins
  • Add another TAB: Other skins (such as those usable for PvE content – such as the achievement items)

Inventory:

  • I can right click an item in my inventory and replace my equipped offhand weapon. But why not my offhand Ring or Accessory or 2nd Aquatic Weapon?
  • Aquatic weapons – when showing the tooltip-comparisons show the offhand aquatic weapon too.
  • Add option to right click “use stack”. I dare a developer to purchase 500 orrian boxes and click through that mess. (also for the ascalonian alcohol – see Thirst Quencher Achievement).
  • let me type /wiki then link the item in chat to fill out the rest of the line. I hate typing the item when I can click it perfectly in!
  • Dyes – Right click and consume for another character (display only characters eligible to use the dye)

Money Bags and Karma Jugs:

  • What is the point? Just put these items in my wallet please! I beg you!

Dungeons and Personal Story:

  • No one cares about NPCs that have nothing to say. Remove the ability to “interact” with NPCs. I want to collect my loot, not have Trahearne blather on.
  • In dungeons when presented with a path choice, make it clear which paths have been taken prior.
  • In dungeons add a quest tracker for incomplete dungeon paths, so you know which you need to do before given a choice.
  • Add an indication if the dungeon is Night Time or Day time (for those that run certain Sigils)
  • Can we get rid of the Contested dungeons? Here is how it goes:
    player 1:  Is CoF open for anyone?
    player 2:  Not for me.
    player 3:  open on mag, fa, and ioj.
    player 4:  cool, I'll guest.
    or
    player 1:  Is CoF open for anyone?
    player 2:  It is contested every where.
    player 1:  oh 
    - party disbands -
    

Transmutation Stones:

  • Can we get a use for these at level 80? (I’m stockpiling these and I don’t know why. And I’m afraid to delete them in-case they become useful.)

Vendor:

  • Change “purely Salvageable items” so they are “brown” for item quality (instead of white)
  • Add more buttons for the vendor’s mass-sell: Sell White, Sell Browns (Or at least change “Sell Junk” to include “White quality” items which are not “purely salvageable”.)
  • Allow us to buy multiple items at once (orrian boxes, alcohol)

Commander Tag:

  • Why not account bound? (My guild has several great commanders. I don’t see why they need punished for being a commander for every toon.)
  • Allow commanders to set their tag’s visibility {mini-map + map + character’s view}: Viewable by All, Viewable by Represented Guild, Viewable my all member Guilds, Viewable by Friends, Off.

WvW:

  • Add an approximate queue timer for joining a borderland.
  • WvW Portals – Can you set this as a grief free zone? No mesmer portals, no player placed merchants or toys (anything which interferes with “Interact”)
  • Unbuilt Seige – Different colours on the base so players know what is placed. Red=Trebuchet, Green=Catapult, Grey=Flame Ram, Black=Golem, Blue=Catapult.

  • Reduced Particle Effects : Yes/No
  • Highly visible mouse pointer: Yes/No

Hello, here is my list of Quality of Life improvement I feel ANet should make to the game.
I’ve tried to keep my list independant of changes that beneficial to one class over the other, or certain players over others.
These are purely my opinion and I don’t expect everyone to agree. If you feel any of these are bad ideas, at least give a constructive reason other than “No” so as a group we can hash out better ideas.

I have also left out ideas which would require a rework of the existing game in any significant fashion (such as housing, guild halls, or mounts)

Anyways, here is the list in no particular order.

Gem Store:

  • please add in an ability to hide the character’s inventory slots in the bank UI (I personally use my Inventory UI and drag across. I know how my normal inventory is sorted, and it appears on 1 screen without scroll bars. The Bank inventory of my personal inventory has scroll bars, and takes up too much space, esp if I’m using my normal inventory screen too.)
  • Split Collectables into two tabs – Collectibles=Pets,etc, Materials=things you craft with
  • Add another TAB: PvP skins
  • Add another TAB: Other skins (such as those useable for PvE content – such as the achievement items)

Inventory:

  • I can right click an item in my inventory and replace my equipped offhand weapon. But why not my offhand Ring or Accessory or 2nd Aquatic Weapon?
  • Aquatic weapons – when showing the tooltip-comparions show the offhand aquatic weapon too.
  • Add option to right click “use stack”. I dare a developer to purchase 500 orrian boxes and click through that mess. (also for the ascalonian alcohol – see Thirst Quencher Achievement).
  • let me type /wiki then link the item in chat to fill out the rest of the line. I hate typing the item when I can click it perfectly in!

Money Bags and Karma Jugs:

  • What is the point? Just put these items in my wallet please! I beg you!

Leveling an Elementalist - not fun

If you need help you’ll have to describe some more about your situation.
What level are you?
What weapons are you using?
Is your gear up to date for your level?
What is your current build?
Are you dodging (with the dodge button)? Are you moving?

I do promise Ele’s get more survivable when they hit 80. By that time a lot of their traits really start to synergize.

Something I did to get to 80 was:

  • Put 20 points into Fire for Fire VIII – Conjurer (conjured weaps have 10 more charges)
  • Put 10 points into Aranca for Aracana V – Elemental Attunement.
  • Put Lightning hammer on your bars.
  • Auto attack with #1. The 3rd hit of the auto-attack is an AoE blind.
  • While attacking keep switching attunements constanstly for Might/Regen/Protection/Swiftness/Fury.
  • 15 points in water also gives you more Regen (Soothing Mist) and a heal without using your heal (Healing Ripple)

With 50 charges you’ll be able to keep Lightning Hammer out indefinitely (assuming someone doesn’t take your spare). You’ll get hit once at the start of combat, but you’ll be able to be lazy and stand still and power through multiple mobs and veterans.

Just don’t attack Dredge; they are immune to blinds.

Minor Suggestion. But maybe every “unbuilt” siege weapon should

  • Include the Name of the Person/Account who laid the blueprint in the name tag.
    *Can right click on un-built siege so that the player can be
    > whispered to
    > ignored / blocked / reported
    > hide all siege from this player (this should also be available for opposing team)
    > the initial builder can deconstruct the siege (so long as ZERO mats have gone into its construction)

Vitality question

As another note I personally like to run either Knights or Cleric gear on my guardian. I’ve never stated for Vitality. I have under 16k health. Yet I feel I can perform well in WvW or PvE because I have so many small regeneration sources, abilities to avoid damage, ways to cleanse conditions, and lessen the impact of severe blows that I don’t worry about having lots of health.

Reasons Guardians can “tank”.
1. Good condition removal options
2. Aegis – take no damage for 1 hit
3. Blinds – don’t get hit at all
4. High Toughness
5. Combo the Toughness with Protection Boon for extreme damage reduction.
6. Trickle healing – Regen Boon, Virtue of Resolve, Symbols, Altruistic Healing, Great sword attacks, dodge-heals, food, etc. (not to mention heals from other classes or combo heals)
7. Abilities that Block Damage
8. Abilities to give Invulnerability

So Guardians can be very tanky when they wish to be. Of course any character can tank to some degree, so don’t feel pigeon-holed into feeling as a Guardian you have play the groups tank, or the groups healer.

Problem is likely due to WvW balance.

Imagine half of your zerg putting down combo fields (say 20 people).
The other half (20 people) are doing finishers.
So that would amount to 400 combo effects going off.
This game doesn’t need more lag.

That being said I would still like it. It would at least counteract the greifers in WvW. For example when a commander asks for a fire field and some other player puts a poison field over top of the fire field.

I don’t agree. Having the ‘F’ key do everything was a fantastic design choice. I don’t have to think about what button to press to do any given action. Instead I only had to memorize one.

Besides; just think of what you’ll miss if they remove some of the functionality.

  • Talking to an NPC in a boss battle instead of rezzing your ally
  • Picking up that banner instead of rezzing your ally
  • Picking up your turret instead of picking up your loot bag

Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

Scenario 1:
So if I’m on my thief and I do a Heartseeker on you while you are 25% health:

= 924 (dagger weapon str) * 1800 (my power, not my attack) * 2.1 (~skill coefficient of you at 25% health) = 3,492,720 incoming damage!!!
If you have 2000 armor this then becomes 3,492,720/2000 = 1746 damage received.

if you increase your armor by 200 points: 3,492,720/2200 = 1588 damage received

So increasing your armor by 200 only reduced your incoming damage by ~9%

Scenario 2:
Now say you are getting attacked by a guardian using a staff:

= 985 (staff weapon str) * 1900 (my power, not my attack) * 0.66 (~weapon skill coefficient for Staff #1) = 1,235,190 incoming damage
if your armor is 2000 then your incoming damage is reduced to 618

But if your armor were 2200 then it would be 561 incoming damage.
Which is also ~9%.

So….
So my point is it makes sense to measure a percent difference between what you had and what you want.
Changing from X to Y increases/decreases your damage taken by Z%. This is easily computed by doing X/Y=Z
2000/2200 = 0.90909 or to put another way: damaged reduced to 90% of previous value.

But to abstractly measure the effectiveness of armor as a whole…. this information is already displayed to you. If you have 2000 armor then it diminishes the incoming damage by a factor of 2000. If you have 2200 armor then it diminishes the incoming damage by 2200.

You shouldn’t be allowed to change your skills anywhere.

A1: So only allow it in major cities then.
A2: This is already possible. Just buy the 10 silver book and keep it in your inventory. Activate it to change whenever you please.

You shouldn’t be able to change for free.

A: I’m confused about “Free Template Management”. Does this imply the tool to manage templates is free, or the ability to change templates is free, or both? I’d be OK with paying the 10s cost in open world, and the 3s cost in a Major city. Just like it is already possible.

Also instead of saying “I’d rather have the game cater to lazy people” please qualify with REAL game breaking reasons why this is bad, or offer suggestions.

I’m going to state that I don’t do sPvP. But I do feel for my Ele brethren.

I’ve compiled a list of how far reaching this nerf is:

Cleansing Water trait: Can now trigger only once every 5 seconds (only in PvP).
>remove condition when granting regen to yourself or an ally

[Trait] Soothing Disruption: Cantrips grant regen.
[Trait] Elemental Attunement: AoE grants regen (attuning to water)
[Trait] Soothing Wave: Mist Form, Frost Bow, Signet of Water grant regen.

[Weap] Staff (water) #5: AoE multiple procs of regen.
[Weap] Trident (water) #4: AoE regen.
[Heal] Glyph of Elemental Harmony (water): grants regen.

[Runes] Any which grant regen.

(did I miss anything?)

Also note that the water traits Soothing Disruption and Soothing Wave are mutually exclusive when compared to Cleansing Water and using Mist Form

Maybe we had too many options for condition removal. But this is a 30 point trait in water. I can’t help but to feel that ANet is punishing us for being too survivable. And in their goal of making more builds viable they are doing it in such a way that punishes popular builds. Instead of throwing a bone to other Trait Trees to make them more alluring.

Note you can look something up in game with the following chat command:

Also as a note if your the enemy uses a skill that hits you x10 times they take x10 retaliation strikes. So a theif that backstabs you hits one big time for a single only gets Retal once. But that same theif that uses Daggerstorm may take many hits.

Then this could be applied to Weapons as well.
