Bored again and this thread is looking dead soooooooooooo… How about that new Breaking Bad episode?
Kinda po’d at myself….passed out right after Hank had his “panic attack”
I think OP is part of the 3rd group. The group that doesn’t really read into most of the complaints about Liadri and then complain base on assumptions.. Yes there are the 2 groups mention, but most are not part of those clamoring for entitlement. That assumption is strictly that and you know what those do.
There are obvious issues with the instances. Most complaints are about those, NOT just wanting content easier or harder for the sake of entitlement as OP and some others claim.

1000g over 1 year into the forge .. exotics, rares, stones, named, unnamed, L75+, L80 no precursor.
The one thing that i’ve found over this time is that the more you put in there in 1 single day the worse it becomes .. almost like its got diminishing returns but ANET will jump backwards to convince you it doesn’t!!! .. we cant have our money sink being exposed.
Toss in no more then 10 of each thing a day! ( 10×4 rares, 10×4 exotics, 10x runs ext ) any more will return a less likely chance for something good. ( still a chance if your lucky )
You should be the new poster child for buying a precursor on the TP. We will throw you in some rags in LA and you can tell your tale of woe. Hopefully passers by will drop a few silver in your hat and then think twice before flushing their dreams down the djinn hole..
They are not alone. Many of us have thrown 1k+ g into the forge with nothing to show for it. At the same time the same accounts throw 100g worth and consistently obtain desired results. Idk bout anyone else, but this throws red flags for me. It’s hard to say things are truly random when the same patterns repeat time and time again. I have also notice that the same accounts that have forge luck also seem to have better luck with the new weapons dropping.
So basically if your account has luck forge….if not…don’t.
Good day to you madam or sir. My name is Essence Snow I am a descendant of Rurik of Ascalon. As such I have a very large endowment fund but due to ongoing litigations I am unable to access use of my wealth for the time being.
Now you may be asking yourself “Why does this matter to me?”. To attain full use of my generous wealth I need to hide it for the time being, while I take care of remaining litigations. Once those are resolved I shall attain my inherited wealth.
This is were you come in. I would like for you to store my wealth for a short period of time. I shall transfer to you my full inheritance. Once I tuck in lose tails send it back to me but keep a generous percentage for your troubles.
Now you might be thinking to yourself “What’s the catch?”. Unfortunately there always seems to be one which we are unable to avoid even though I wish we could. Unfortunately to transfer my mass wealth I need to pay a one time fee to the Black Lion Trading Company of 10 gold. 10 gold to transfer 1 million gold of which you shall keep 5% for you kindness once the transaction is completed.
So just end 10g gold to Essence Snow and in due time I’ll send you 1 million gold. Shortly there after keep 5% of the 1 million and send the rest back to me. This will greatly benefit my country, yourself, and will establish you as a savior of our people.
Thank you for your time, service to your country, and vast willingness to help.
Eagerly awaiting, Essence Snow of Ascalon
Let’s take a second look….
people believe they can’t have misunderstood
I couldn’t have possibly misunderstood the manifesto, because I know what I’m talking about.
it’s just human nature.
You’re making the same error you claim others are making while claiming such. I might be wrong here (as nothing is 100%), but that sounds like cognitive bias more specifically self-serving bias and belief bias.
(edited by Essence Snow.3194)
Why are you clinging to this manifesto like its the final word on this game, forever? Let it go.
Yes, you are free to express displeasure and want changes to how you see fit. Can there not be a discussion about the current state of the game without this manifesto being whipped out like its black and white fact?
You can’t hold them to this because it means different things to different people. As evidenced by this thread and others, grind means different things to different people. To some, the almighty manifesto is holding true, to others it is not.
Nevermind the fact that things change. It’ll be 5 years from now and Anet will change something else and someone will whip out this manifesto as some kind of ‘evidence’ they’re doing it wrong. No one wants to believe they misunderstood something. They’d rather blame someone else. It’s just human nature.
I couldn’t have possibly misunderstood the manifesto, because I know what I’m talking about. And as long as people believe they can’t have misunderstood it, even though Anet spent a whole lot of time after explaining it, then they’ll just continue to say things like Anet lied to them.
Again, it’s just human nature.
LoL…this one is good! Just quoting it b4 it gets edited…gold Jerry GOLD!
Granted if players did not do this sort of thing there wouldn’t be enough to buy on the tp thus it wouldn’t be an option.
I don’t like players farming, thus they effect me?
They do, but more indirectly than that.
We have farmers directly influencing people in Queensdale, for example, but that’s the exception rather than the rule. We have the entire negative economic impact of farmers, although they are never going to admit how they make the economy worse for everyone else.
However, the real issue is in how they change the direction of the game. ArenaNet has likely realized that more players want to farm than to play in Dynamic Events. What is the company going to do, then? Put events in the sidelines, and add more and more ways to farm. For those who wanted other kinds of content, instead of farming, this makes the game worse (than what it could have been).
If they want the farmers to do events simply increase rewards of the events. Make it so they do not add gold creation and bingo…farmers move to event and don’t add to inflation. But, here is a question would farmers play without the ability to farm? What I am getting at is…Some player play to farm. Without the ability to farm they simply would not play. Is it better to have players farming or not having those players at all? Prime examples of this are currently available. There are a couple of zones that have been basically empty until the influx of farmers. Are those zones better empty?

Help me to chose a MSI MOBO and Graphic Card

This is on sale atm for 208.79 AR

As for mobo….if your stuck on msi yeah the 45. I’m not sure if msi does the same thing as asus in terms of oc where to base boards are just as good for oc’ing as the highend boards…might be worth looking into. Like solar noted haswell has temp issues and to hit 4.5+ your either going to need high-end cooler or chance fate with delidding.
Farmers take the fun out of Mmorpgs. Not sure what the solution here is, Anet must have seen this coming with the implementation of their huge champ loot. Maybr make it so that you can only get the special loot from each unique champ once a day? That might be too destructive, but I think Anet should aim for rewarding what resembles a ‘natural’ playstyle rather than allowing the ‘loot metagamers’ to chase around several easy champions in queensdale/other zone all day while ignoring the rest of the game.
*Or make champs very difficult so that they kill many players (lvl 80 too) and arent so farmable nonstop.
I don’t understand this comment. Farmers here have no bearing on the events in this instance. If the farmers were not farming the champs it doesn’t mean they would be helping with the events. Just pretend the farmers are not there and boom personal problem solved. They are not effecting you unless you choose to let them effect you…I don’t like players farming, thus they effect me?
Now since it was so fun …do it again for the fun of it!
Hate to say it, but I think they need to replace their testers. Their current ones have missed glaring issues is most every update that are obvious to everyone except them for some reason. They are either not doing their job, not capable of doing the job, or choose to not do the job all of which warrant replacement.
And you know, if other people felt I was wrong, you can bet your bottom dollar there’d be a flood of people disagreeing with me. So far, it’s pretty much you.
You can count most the posters in this thread as part of that flood, not just him. Debating with you is grindy and not fun at all so most simply stop doing so as it is not worth their time, which = less posters.
Not trying to be mean, just telling you why things are the way they are using generalizations (since you like them).

Warrior 30/30/0/10/0
Heal signet, On my mark, Endurance signet, Shake it off, Signet of Rage
It was a horrible experience due to camera angles, obstruction on orbs, and insta kill on clone spawn. Not fun at all and I will never repeat it as long as those issues remain. The bit I don’t understand is that those issues are glaringly evident from the moment one steps foot into the arena…..why were they not brought up?
People don’t want hard content. They want content that’s hard for other people. This way, they can shift-click some doodad in Lion’s arch and know that not many people have it.
^This……Wonder how many players repeat the fight after they beat it? I know I surely will not as I did not find it enjoyable.
Also to note" Malta (7990) just got a price drop of bout 300 bucks putting it on par with a 780 in terms of price, as well as beta 13.8 driver addressing some of the crossfire deal.
This might cause me to reconsider.
At this point in time there is no reason to get a 660ti when a 760 costs the same. Ofc if you can find a deal then there is an exception.
When a dog bites a child that’s been non-stop poking it, it is not necessarily a vicious dog. It is most likely a response due to the child poking at it incessantly. I can very much see how that might be the case here.
I was trying to stay away from this this one but that last one took the cake. You have an obvious post history, which entails creating controversy for the sake of controversy. This thread is no different.
It’s a subject that due to it’s wording can be argued any which way regardless of being correct. I think you know that and that is the reason you started it….a podium of opportunity on which you capitalized to feed off the drama.
Rather than answering questions or addressing points you continually twist words to keep the drama going….it gets old and has gotten old.
Of all the horse pocky I’ve seen in this forum…….You being bullied? Really? Really? (rhetoric btw, I don’t want a reply)
(edited by Essence Snow.3194)
Fair? It is fair.
Those who voted and took part in the election system got what they wanted. They were able to take part in something and vote for a candidate they wanted.
Those who didnt care about a virtual election of some NPC got nothing for this except token for an event they didnt care about. This is what those people get out of it.
What? As far as we knew there was 1 and only 1 use for these…voting. On top of that it took loads of clicking to vote. Had we known these would have any value I highly doubt many players at all would have used them outside of maybe 10 for the achievement. I know I used multiple stacks of these just b/c there simply wasn’t any use of them or value to them. Now I am told had I not wasted my time I would have been rewarded with a heafty amount of gold? Nah…this is udder crap.
Really? Really? Who’s grand idea was this?
At the very least we should have been informed something like this may happen!
Evidently not many are aware of what PvP rewards are….
Prizes
Regional Qualifying Tournament
The registered first-place teams from the North American and European regional qualifying tournaments will each receive:
Team placement in the Guild Wars 2 Invitational Tournament on August 31 at the Renaissance Hotel in Seattle, WA
Airfare for five to Seattle, WA
Hotel accommodations (two rooms per team)
Five four-day passes to PAX Prime 2013
Studio tour of ArenaNet
Invitational Tournament
The top two teams in the Guild Wars 2 Invitational Tournament will receive the following prizes:
First place: $7,500 cash prize
Second place: $2,500 cash prize
In gems that would be 120,000 per person for 1st place compare to the 800 for 10k ap.
I’m not saying ap is any kind of competition…just doing the comparison since some brought it up. There are many ways to make PvE extremely competitive btw.

Oh gonna tank charged lodestones
It’ll drop in the short term but always trend up in the long term.
I’ve always wondered why rl cash/prizes have always been pvp only. Considering the popularity of the PvE side of the game, why not do something similar for PvE?
mods* please don’t move to “suggestions” forum as I’d like to have a discussion bout this topic and that’s a sure fire way to kill it.
Hugh Norfolk says this is still too vague
Where did he say that?…Just curious…..Pretty obvious that when players change the aspect above 16:9 or 16:10 or go above 1080, they are able to see/target around walls. I don’t get what’s vague. It’s very easy to replicate. “Vague” kinda sounds like a cop out, since it’s obvious.
Yes there is and it take a while to lose.
Ahh…. it’s morning…..good morning!
Ok, maybe I can use this post to shed some light as atm we are still getting no where. (the Priceline thing was not going anywhere as they act primarily as a liaison which is where their service lies)
I am primarily concerned with the overall health of this mmo. One of the major aspects of health is population. MMO’s need players to be healthy. Anything that actively deters players from playing is a bad thing, kinda like a cancer. While a little cancer my not be necessarily having a large effect atm, it is still subject to growth and in general a bad thing. It is best to nip these type things in the bud.
I could honestly care less that flipping is the activity. That is not why it’s bad. It’s bad because of what it does. (remember even a little bad is still bad) It concentrates wealth by leaps and bounds over anything else in the game.
Now why is concentrated wealth via one unregulated avenue bad for GW2?
It’s unregulated while everything else is regulated. This ensures that it’s effect on the game will only grow over time. An insignificant bad will evolve into a more prevalent bad.
It creates a disparity in rewards in a genre where rewards are vital. There’s no doubt that one of the major complaints players have about GW2 is that it’s not rewarding. Rewards and a mmo go hand in hand. Saying rewards are not relevant to the health of a mmo is rather short sighted.
It’s created disparities may deter new players. This is (for me) the biggie. A new player might look at where rewards in GW2 have evolved and see that some have become seemingly unattainable. This may discourage them from playing. It’s created disparities may deter existing players. It serves to show players that they most likely will have to participate in something they do not enjoy to get to an overall endgame goal, which leads into point 3.
It creates a funneling effect/cattling effect. One of the major draws of GW2 is that players may do what they want and may still experience the whole game. This goes directly against that. It shows players that if they want to experience certain destinations (used non-literally) that they will have to participate in one avenue. (I know if u want pvp rewards u must pvp..not exactly the same) This in turn reduces incentive for other options which are the majority options.
It’s self defeating, but only after it does harm. Eventually as more and more players delve into the act of wealth concentration it does exactly that, but by the time it becomes unprofitable a mass has a large amount of wealth which has a very noticeable effect on the game. This leads us to prices.
If it were not for certain activities certain prices would not be possible. If not for CS farming, CoF p1, exploits, trading, etc…the game simple does not provide enough revenue for players to sustain elevated prices or certain items. If the game does not provide the means, the end simply will not happen. If everything rewards 1, 100 is not possible.
But given enough means of 1s then the end of 100 is possible. Well yes, but do to the nature of the relationship 100 will not remain the end. It serves to create a moving goal line effect. The closer one gets to the finish line, the farther away that line gets. 100 becomes 150, 200, 300, 500, etc etc…This is due to an unregulation effect on the end. The effect that this one avenue has while all other avenues are regulated.
Okay this post has become too long…….best to nip it in the bud b4 it becomes worse.
PS regulated to <5001…lol
I’ll get back to ya in the morning. Although I agree with you on a few things, I disagree on most.
In that context I was referring to any added demand for the “service” that flipper supposedly supplies. I was saying that flippers do not provide instant gratification, nor do they reduce the amount of time for a buyer/seller.
If somehow they made the program process the transaction faster then okay, but they don’t. Instant is instant in our case and the flipper has zero bearing on that.
I might have to debate on the validity of flipping here being a “service”. The demand is for the items, not the “service”. With or without the “service” the demand remains the same.
It is a service. It gives people who want to buy/sell lower/higher prices.
It does that for impatient buyers and sellers. It does the opposite for patient buyers and sellers.
There are people who are willing to sacrifice a bit of money so their transactions happen immediately, and flippers provide a service by reducing the spread.
For the impatient buyer/seller the transaction happens immediately regardless of the flipper. Since the flipper deals with the impatient buyer/seller, there is no reduction of time “service”.
You completely misinterpret the word “demand.” There is demand for instant transactions at the cost of some gold as evidenced by the sheer fact that sell orders sell and buy orders fill. This is separate from the demand for the actual item, which you refer to.
Can you reword this please? I’m not sure what your meaning is.
One problem we have in debates like this is we don’t have any information about volume. All we have are snapshots of current stock that are updated every couple of minutes. Without a good sense about the number of items traded in time between snapshots we may not have an actual grasp on the true volume of trades that are going on. Flippers have a better grasp and the true volume since they are acutely aware how fast an item is bought and sold by actually buying and selling the item in bulk.
Someone has to post bids and put items up for sale. Sure players can do it themselves but the majority of them are an impatient lot. They want coin or the item now, not in an hour/end of play session/day/week from now. That’s the service a flipper brings. They wait so you don’t have to. Yes it’s Pawn Stars of Tyria and Chumlee is a Charr.
I agree, due to the nature of the subject not having the numbers does open it up to much more debate.
The person that got the drop…(initial seller) selling an item will put that item for sale. They don’t need a flipper to list it for them. The flipper needs that person to list their items or they don’t have anything to flip.
Buyers will post buy orders impatient or patient regardless of the flipper being involved.
Impatient buyers do not save time as they would get the item instantly either way.
Impatient sellers again save no time due to flippers as it again is instant.
Patient sellers lose time to flippers by being undercut.
Patient buyers lose time to flippers outbid.
The only time issues I see are losses.
The TP itself is the Pawn Shop. The program/server are the clerks. Idk what flippers would be in the analogy tbh. Maybe…. Chumlee, who doesn’t really do anything beneficial, but still gets paid…aka takes money from the shop.

@Essence you are forgetting that in the EU there’s roughly a 20% VAT included on the price. So you can’t just do a currency conversion.
As for a 3rd party CPU cooler, what is good and inexpensive in the US are the brands Xigmatek and Cooler Master tower style coolers. Seemingly always on sale and with rebates. No idea on their availability or price over there. I think you have Scythe still available in Europe, US distributor folded, they are also a very good brand but I don’t know the current prices anymore, they may not be as inexpensive.
I didn’t. I went to Netherland hardware retailers for the prices. If there is an added 20% from a Netherland online retailer to a Netherland customer…then yeah sry bout that I didn’t know.
There was..(this one yes was in the states) a Cooler Master Seidon 120mm for $10 after rebate/google promo…which show one can get an aoi on the cheap.
Per John
A dozen players with 10k gold wouldn’t even scrape one of those markets.
That was specific to certain markets within the economy quite some time ago. Ergo, it doesn’t necessarily apply to the over all context to which you quoted.
In the end, flipping is a service. People spend money for convenience. This cannot be denied. As long as there is demand for this service, it will remain profitable. It’s the same as getting tipped for portal JPs or being paid to run people through dungeons in GW1.
I might have to debate on the validity of flipping here being a “service”. The demand is for the items, not the “service”. With or without the “service” the demand remains the same.
For GW2 all are wasted money……for other games the 780……only b/c sli/cross-fire have issues that some ppl find unacceptable,
As to why:
The 7990 has cross-fire issues. Even though AMD has said they will be alleviating a lot of that soon, we don’t really know. What we do know is the 7990 is being discontinued. So specific update driver support for that card may be lacking with future iterations. Oh and it’s 950-100 bucks.
The Titan is boss of single gpu cards….no doubt about that, but it’s 950-1000 buck for 1 gpu.
The 780 performing near the titan capacity in games for 350 dollars less is a no brainer when opting between the two. On top of that if in the future sli gets better and you want to add a second the 780 scales better for gaming in sli than the titan. So for the same price you could on one had go titan sli for (lets round) $2k or 780 sli for $1300 and get almost the same gaming results…..or for the same 2k you could 3 way sli (giving issues get resolved) and crush the 2 way titan sli.
Granted I wouldn’t buy any of them as I would stick to a 770 or a 7970 ghz atm and throw in a water block for less, specially the 770 as the boost is reliant on temps.
(edited by Essence Snow.3194)
I wish I could disagree with you since I’m working towards sunrise on my mesmer, but I go in to COF, COE and Fractals, and just think “kitten I want to, but greatsword is so useless”. I mean 3 is useless, 2 doesn’t do enough and 5 is basically what you do if you want your team to hate you.
I find that the GS is more useful than ppl think specially in fractals. 5 is always nice as a positioning skill when focus 4 is not appropriate or available. 4 for an aoe cripple, 3 for aoe boon removal, 2 for added might b4 sig of inspiration and bit of vulnerability, and 1 well besides it being 1200 range…yeah 1 kinda stinks
I feel it is more that he is simply doing his job. It is not his job to worry about the larger picture. It is not his job to worry about whether or not a maximized “efficient” economy is in all actuality the “best” thing for the main goal of the game. Economies are a numbers game which doesn’t always go hand in hand with human nature. Kinda like asking a Priest about life. Sure they can tell you all you want to know about religion, but their insight on science will most likely leave you wanting.
Yeah sry I can’t help ya if your not willing to try building one yourself (although idk y…it’s simplistic and takes little time) as you will have to pay quite a bit more to go through a middleman. You’ll easily pay 100€ more + the 55€ building charge, but it’s your 155€.
A couple places you could save money:
Your GPU…199.99 for a core xfx 7870 is not a good deal.
Your PSU again 63.99 for a corsair 600w builder series is not a good deal
Your RAM….same story…you can get 1600mhz easily for the same price
Assembly…if you can screw in a screw and plug in a wire you can build a PCIf you were to save in those areas you could easily afford to upgrade your cpu.
I hope you realize that those prices are not in USD. Since you didn’t mention the currency I can only assume you meant USD.
I had assumed the € meant Euros. 825€=$1,095. For that they should be able to do better. For example the GPU @ 199.99€=$265 that’s over priced for a core edition 7870. Heck one could get a Club 7870 LE for 203€ or Asus DC II Top for 193€.
casual=/=impatient
casual has zero bearing on whether or not someone is patient or impatient
snip.
It’s a 2 way street.
It lowers prices for the impatient buyer, but at the same time raises prices for the patient buyer.
It raises selling prices for the impatient sellers, but at the same time lowers prices for the patient sellers.
I think it would be nice (I know it won’t happen) to get match ups based on wvw population. It would be interesting to see how things pan out when the numbers are even keeled.
At the very least it would nice to know the numbers. “Oh, that’s why we stomp them every week…we outnumber them 2-1”.
Ya’ll can do better than degrading the discussion into “Communists”. That’s more of a last ditch effort and we should be above that.

FA is pretty good as long as you don’t RP. We tend to mock RPing for some reason…maybe our constant wvw match-up with TC.
You can’t blame the farmers for Anet setting up the game in the manner they have. Gold trumps everything else…..they have set it up that way. If mats were more deliberately obtainable many farmers would farm them vs farming gold. Farming gold directly is a result of the system. It’s just that currently the system limits most all activities, yet leaves relatively few unchecked.
If for example they removed a lot of the gold (they keep adding it for some reason) drops in the game and increase the usable mat drops, then farming would not have as much of an inflation connotation added to it.
(edited by Essence Snow.3194)
By the same token why then do they nerf material drops? They don’t really add gold into the economy, if anything they remove gold.
Would it be unfair if farmers were able to get their hands on loads of t6 mats? Yes prices on t6 would go down, but is that really a bad thing? When prices were 2s, was that so bad? If so why?
To be fair they just introduced these vote reminder bags that do nothing but introduce loads of gold into the system. If the inflation was such a current issue why would they do such?
