It’s sad that people keep wanting stuff to be handed to them, just because someone else has it. The argument that it’s unfair that one player has more time to play/farm over a “casual” is one of the worst I can think of. It’s like a rich person being jealous of a low-income family getting government assistance/free food.

What? That doesn’t make any sense. Might want to rethink/rephrase that maybe?

Stuck on one toon is a bad argument now. With all the liquid WXP you can easily get a good jump on levels on a new toon. I saved over 100 drops, 20 timbles and 2 kegs since reset plus the 50+ laurels I have. Thats 50 levels for any new toon without even walking into WvW…

I don’t think anyone else is having this kind of luck, not to mention 50 levels on one alt means nada in the grand scheme of things.

It should be account bound. They have not given one VALID reason why it is not, nor has anyone else.

Teq as a topic is an unfortunate example of some issues this forum has had as a whole. Even though it has been a “hot topic” we have yet to get any feedback on it. Since the forums “are being read” topics of which that have high player interest (for one reason or another) would hopefully get some attention. It seems that “negative” topics only get attention once they have almost hit the breaking point with players. Why this is? I have not the foggiest. The practice does not lend itself to positive relations, yet it repeats itself ad nauseam.

Just a quick question for the TTS ppl……what hapens when other bosses are revamped? Will you be a member of TTS, STS (shatty terror squad) and CTS (claw terror squad)….etc?

Considering we are limited in the number of guilds we can join (5), when does it stop being reasonable?

that’s a silly question.of course guilds like TTS would go after the other boss as well.they will not create another guilds for that’s.

Think moreso about the grand scheme of things. How often will these guilds continue to do each event as interest in each is divided. TTS is basically keeping Teq from being a complete ghost town. As each new event is revamped (assuming ofc they follow Teqs format) TTS will do Teq less and less with each new iteratio. Thus eventually ceasing to be reasonable on multiple fronts.

TTS is commited to organizing and tackling future revamped bosses.

I’m not sure how the idea that there’s going to be new guilds popping up for new revamped bosses came about (as I’ve heard this several times), and requires people join each and every one of them, but that is not the case.

We have also been asked a lot if we are only a Tequatl killing “guild”. Well first I’ll say,…we aren’t a guild we are a community. Second I will say we DID start off as a Tequatl killing guild, but turned into a massive pve community. We will keep the name for nostalgic sake, of that’s how this amazing community has started. However, we are staying together for not only killing Tequatl but killing future bosses like Shatterer, etc. that Guild Wars 2 brings to the game. We also have expanded in the sense, that we do a weekly dungeon run event now where people can tag up with TTS, and work together in getting dungeons done where before they couldn’t because they felt like if they tried to “pug” it, they would be yelled at or something.

That, and other good information:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1opapd/tts_the_truth_of_what_we_are/

I hope you realize that if/once that happens even players in the guild will be split on which content they will want to do and when. It’ll only serve to make it more complex and decrease the amount of times Teq is completed even further, not to mention other bosses.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with TTS. It is a great showing by the community. However, like others have noted it should not make the Teq encounter any more acceptable (by acceptable I mean a successful example by which to base other event revamps) .

There are 51 servers 24 for NA and 27 for EU

Yes, I realize the NA/EU split. I was simply taking numbers from the NA side, as TTS is a NA-only guild. EU has its version of a Teq-slaying guild, but as I do not participate in it, I will not make any estimates on it. I hope you see why your point is irrelevant.

All numbers aside, it’s rather obvious that the new event has not been a success.

Success is entirely a subjective assessment. The numbers however, do provide for an interesting perspective.

One must ask though, what are your standards for “success?” That every player does said content daily? That is highly unrealistic. Every player is not going to do every content everyday. GW2 has simply far too much content for that (Can you imagine doing every dungeon path, every world boss, some WvW, PvP, and LS stuff? Man….). If my numbers are to be believed, a significant portion of the population doesn’t even do Jormag. Does that make it a failure?

Food for thought, of course.

EDIT: Hmmm, I have strayed from my original purpose, and for that I must apologize. If you believe Teq is a failure, that is your imperative, and I should not comment on it.

I’ll leave this by emphasizing my original objective: Thousands of players do Teq everyday, and TTS is a great and simple-to-use resource for anyone interested in participating in successful Teq attempts. There is no rep requirement, there is no guest requirement, and there is no voicechat requirement. We do not alienate anyone, we are not elitist, and we welcome everyone with open arms.

If it were something new or added to the game I would have no issues with it. However it replaced something. Why?

What was the point of the revamp? I don’t know what their prerogatives were for sure, but if I may, I’ll assume it was b/c for the main adversaries in the game, they fell short of that “epic” feeling. So they decided on a revamp….a rebalance.

Now, it is in that “rebalance” where they went too far imo. It would be like rebalancing an underpowered class in pvp and making it op. Very simply put, too much can ruin a good thing.

Imagine if they changed everything so it too might require a specific guild just to complete. I guess they could only change five things…..

That’s the wrong comparison. IIRC, old Teq had a 3-hour spawn timer/30 min window. assume 3 hours. 8 Teqs a day, 24 servers…is 192 Teqs.

Now, we need a guesstimate of how many people did old Teq each attempt. I’d peg the average kitten or 100(totally random guess, but 200 is impossible because only a handful of servers, at handful of primetime hours hit overflow), just an average between low-pop and over-pop servers.

That’s 9600 – 19200 players doing Teq daily, gone down to 4000. So around a 50-75% decrease, depending on the estimates. .

There are 51 servers 24 for NA and 27 for EU.

All numbers aside, it’s rather obvious that the new event has not been a success.

I believe it counts overflows, but not 100% sure. According to that API, 50 out of 51 Servers have killed him at least once. And there have been 1449 kills since he was upgraded.

But over the last week he has only been killed an average of 20 times a day (sometimes more, sometimes less) and he has spawned at least 612 times a day(51 servers at 12 spawns a day, not counting overflows) which is a 3.3% competion rate.

That sounds about right. Assuming TTS averages around 5 overflows 3 times a day, and add in the random servers/off-time Teq kills, 20 sounds like it definitely counts the TTS overflow kills. (Unless there’s servers that do Teq multiple times daily, which I’m not aware of.)

EDIT: As an addendum, completion rate is a really misleading and not-so-useful stat. The rate is really low because Teq comes and fails, even without player intervention. Content such as dungeons have an incredibly high (probably?) completion rate, just because it only occurs when players trigger it. Heck, certain escort quests in Brisbane probably has 100% completion, but that’s only because those events goes undone for loooong time and just sits there, waiting to be completed. It’s not a really good metric to gauge the “popularity” of the content.

The better metric would be to calculate the percentage of the active population who are able to complete Teq. Say 20 Teqs are completed. Assume all different players, and around 200 (Random guess) per overflow/server. That’s about 4000 players Considering there’s like 8 TTSs now, with 500 per guild, that sounds just about right actually. Of course, we have no idea what PERCENTAGE that is, since we don’t know the total active population. But I think about 4000 players a day completing Teq is a pretty good estimate.

Considering that the old teq was pretty much completed 100% of the time and concurrent players avg around 450k (leaving teg guilds at less than 1% of concurrent)…the numbers for the new teq aren’t good.

Lists all of the Taco kills across all servers. And completion is well below 5%.

Does this include overflow kills? Because that’s where I imagine most of Teq kills happen these days.

That’s a good question. Unfortunately idk the answer to that. One thing to note though is there will only be overflows on servers that have not given up…..so not many.

Magic Find %... Does it really matter?

Essence Snow.3194

The notion that the game designers would include an account-specific variable in the formula determining the quality of your drops is baffling, to say the least. It nicely reeks of urban myth and statistical ignorance at the same time.

What it would actually mean is that someone, at some point, consciously decided to write an extra variable in the code. For example, instead of simply rolling a die and adding your MF rating + possible rating based on the rarity/difficulty of what you killed, it also adds some secret quantity, linked to your account to determine the quality of your loot.

Why would Anet do that? They have no incentive to do so.

If something does NOT get included, it can be because someone forgot it. But if something extra is added, it means you made the effort to add it. And if it costs effort, you need to have a reason to do it.

It sounds to me like the perfect urban myth, something players on a bad luck streak tell themselves to bring some subjective rationality to their fate as a statistical outlier.

Loot in GW2 is RNG, so by laws of probabilities there will be some people who overall are lucky and get more rare drops and some others who are unlucky and get comparatively less rare drops. But most of the people will be in the middle, getting neither a lot of rare drops, not little rare drops. (and by the laws of great numbers, the more you play the more likely you are to find yourself in the middle and not as an outlier)

And because of the limited rationality of human beings and biased perceptions, we will always tend to make mountains of our bad luck and overstate the luck of others. “The grass is always greener…” So some people who actually are in the middle might think they are getting the short end of the stick and have an unlucky account.

There are not marked accounts. If you think otherwise, I suggest you start reading whale.to regularly. You will surely get a blast.

He aims, he shoots, he misses! Your assumption was off a bit. Like the poster above noted, no one here is suggesting they did it intentionally. I’m baffled to why you’d think so.

When you think about probabilities and RNG, like you noted as time goes on the outliers move more towards the middle. The more one plays the more they will notice that some players simply don’t move towards the middle. If someone were to win the lottery time and time again, probability would tell you something is more likely amiss than working correctly.

While I don’t think a few percent alone matter, I do feel that leaps of 50, 100, 150, etc do. I have played this game for almost 4,500 hrs and have noticed better drops with 150% vs 0-30%. That said having played as much as I have and having other players who I play with a lot….there imo is definitely something amiss. Some players really do seem to have marked accounts whether it is good rng or bad rng. After playing with such players for so long the trending is undeniable. I would have to conclude that the chances of there not being something wrong are so far beyond the chances of everything working as intended that it would be rather ignorant of me to believe marking of accounts did not exist.

This encounter has fallen off to about 5% completion in the past 5 days across all servers. THAT is not good. THAT is not what they should be striving for. Providing content for certain players is one thing, but altering/removing content from all to do so is another.

Yup, and you probably never will. GG

Our society has become one in which everyone has now been trained subconsciously to shame each other so we all feel bad about ourselves and succumb to what ever the flavor of the day minority (or majority) opinion happens to be. What do you think this whole political correctness movement over the last 10 years has been all about?

You may find the pink dye situation shameful even though it was more likely an issue of supply being used up long before demand could catch up and not an issue of people just profiteering. However, you and all others who wish to shame everyone else for whatever you don’t like is disgusting in it’s own right and the real issue with topics like this. So, GG to you sir.

If you cannot distinguish exploiting something like breast cancers awareness from what a “flavor of the day” opinion might be, then that says it all and then some.

I’ve successfully killed him dozens of times with the TTS guild. We do it every night, multiple times. It is a great source of karma and items to get luck essences from (and sometimes even exotic items). So “no one” is a bit of an exaggeration.

Ofc I don’t have the metrics for the event (nor do I see us ever being privied to them), but most severs I have tried guesting to for it have been ghost towns.

Here is the leaderboards which show Tequatl kills by server:

http://gw2dragons.com/dragons/leaderboard

However, kills obtained on overflow servers are not presented on that Leaderboard. As of yesterday the Tequatl Terror Squad alone is over 200 kills on overflow servers:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TTS-Update-From-the-Flight-Captain/

Looking at that…things are not looking good. Out of 18,360 encounters (30 days, 12 enounters per day, times 51 servers) it has only be finished 1,263 times. So if one guild has done it 200 times alone and there are at least 4 designated guilds for it…….you can see where I am going with this. That is 1k players out of millions……….the metrics are worse than I feared.

Banned for buying Omega Golem Blueprints?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Essence Snow.3194

Essence Snow.3194

I purchased 100 omega golems. I noticed a huge downward trend in them and purchased them for 58s a piece. I mentioned this and someone I know speculated that it was due to ram mastery over-performing. If that was the case then I could only see a ram mastery nerf and an eventual increase in the price of omega golems. I heard a rumor about 3 hours later that there may be a duplication exploit. 1 day later I read confirmation that there was a duplication exploit. Those who got a bargain at my price or even some purchased for under 40s probably did not know there was an exploit. There was certainly something amiss, but like I mentioned, there were other reasons such as ram mastery that sound completely logical. And most of us aren’t economists by profession believe it or not.

The way I see it, if Anet don’t do anything to rectify the duplicated golems then I have every right to sell them when I see fit, assuming my golems were even the ones that were duplicated and not someone selling legit golems who sold them in a panic. I will be selling them when they get up to where they were previously.

For the ram mastery speculation to hold any water regular golems and rams would have been drastically impacted as well. As we all know this wasn’t/isn’t the case.

Players with enough stock to drastically effect a singular items are typically well rehearsed in said items. They would definitely know the base price of creating an omega golem from regular ones via the mystic forge. That recipe is the regulating implement that Anet has provided. Players with such stock as to drastically effect prices typically do not panic sell below a regulated price range with things are obviously amiss …….ie……They weren’t able to attain such stock in the 1st place by not knowing how the market/game works and or is regulated.

I’m not hiding anything, I’m just rewording or changing something after proof reading because I choose to do it after I post it, don’t like that? too bad.

Also you said “Hopefully the punishments aren’t as harsh as they were with the karma exploit or the snowflake(except for the actual dupers…ban them to kitten!!!) and those that tried to get ahead easily learn for next time” which can pretty much mean anything aside from account bounding golems, either way you want punishment upon those players which is how I read it and how you posted it. As of my arguement, I find it wrong to punish those players period and I wasn’t a player that made massive gold off it, I just look at the facts and the game mechanics here. Lots of innocenet players would be banned in the process for doing something they do any other given day. To a lot of people they might not even realize they were duped, perhaps they just crashed in price cause one person sold a ton. I thought that at first personally because I didn’t think duping was even possible. Perhaps you should read everything yourself and yes, it’s pretty arrogant to reply back to me the way you did at first just because I challenged you and edited my post to express my viewpoints better than I originally did and for all I knew no one was watching this post like a hawk.

Be back later.

Ya just skimmed through the user agreement again and I don’t see anything in there stating your account will be terminated for buying items off the trading post no matter how they got there. ArenaNet can clean the mess up and ban those who did violate the rules.

Also if anything good came out of this dupe, it created a MASSIVE gold sink.

If they bought a significant amount they full well knew the market price of them. That knowledge bars them from being innocent. While some players may not have known that the items were duped, the price and supply were enough to know something was not right and most likely too good to be true. Aside from the obvious abnomalies some players decided to go ahead and try to take advantage of something (again it was/is pretty blatant something was/is amiss) that had the potential to generate lots of profit.

tl/dr: Players that bought loads were most likely not innocent in the least like they claim to be, rather they chose to try and exploit an exploit.

I don’t think they can ban you for buying them.. what I am worried about is that they could just disappear from inventory.

They cant do that either because there is no way for them to determine if somebody was aware that the low selling price was a result of an exploit or not.

I am more worried what this means to the wvw meta.

They can take a look at your buying pattern and reasonably decide if your taking advantage of an exploit or not. If they decide you have been exploiting, you can then be banned. Don’t fool yourself. If you are aware of the exploit, don’t buy them as you could very well be banned.

Just because you buy an item that is reasonably low in price compared to the last month doesnt mean that you are exploiting anything. As long as your sell listings on omega siege golems dont exceed your buy orders on them by a margin, i dont think you got anything to worry about.

If you buy an item, no they won’t ban you. However, they have banned people for this type of behavior in the past and they will again. If your buying pattern looks like your exploiting a bug, they will ban you. So don’t come crying if it happens to you.

Technically you would be flipping an item, which isn’t bannable now however you could argue ANYONE buying omega right now because of their price is exploiting because they are underpriced compared to regular golems and the formula to craft them.

In a sense that would be like saying people who bought all the cheap exotics off the TP when ascended weapons were released should be banned for profiting off them, you take risk no matter what you buy, even if it’s an exploited item, it could drop to 5 silver in 2 minutes.

The snowflake deal and the chili pepper deal were along the same lines. The actions themselves were not bannable, but players were banned due to taking advantage of something that was obviously not right…….ie…those that took advantage of thousands.

I doubt they would ban/suspend players for buying several for use in wvw, however I can definitely see them banning/suspending those that buy loads to sell later to take advantage of something that is obviously not working as intended.

If you were smart you would know that in gw1 polar bear minipets, or any rare minipet in that matter, did not return year after year. Not everyone had the pleasure to enjoy a miniature vizu, island guardian, panda, grawl, zhed, etc. So on that base, I can safely presume that Anet will not be releasing these again.

Plus, if Guild Wars 2 wants to stay on top of their game I highly doubt that they will be re-releasing the same content year after year. Their main income is based purely on gem store sales and majority of players already have the skins. So you do the math big boy, because I’m sure their profit margin is much higher with new skins.

P.S. by the sounds of it, you sound exactly like one of those poor souls that didn’t get a skin during the event, so quit lying and complaining. Thanks.

I too am a GWAMM on my other account.

I do believe I know more then you regarding the minatures. Polar bears were not available every Wintersday, I am more then happy to show you all my rare miniature collection in GW1, including my polar bear. Not like you would have any proof.

Just a FYI…….before claiming other posters are ignorant you might want to fact check a bit.

In GW1 the mini Polar Bear was available every year from 2007 on. It was a chance drop from Wintersday’s Chests at the end of Strength of Snow and Straight to the Heart quests, also as a random chance in 2012 from the Wintersday Grab Bags. So yes the mini polar bear skin returned year after year.

Also for gw1 accounts that had 7th years b-days there was a chance to get several previously exclusive minis. Those included Oni, Naga Raincaller, Shiro’ken Assassin, Zhed Shadowhoof, and Vizu.

That aside, last year I did way too many key runs. From those run I was able to get several of the Halloween skins including Ghastly Grinning Shield. I in absolutely no way would feel invalidated if they brought the skins back this years. I would actually welcome them as those who were not as fortunate with rng last year may have another shot. Granted I don’t agree with the severe rng nature of it all, but oh well.

New Hair Cool but Disappointed ^^;

Essence Snow.3194

Some folks may have picked the hair style because they loved it as is. To change it for one may change it negatively for another. So in general, it’s very difficult to get big design changes like that done once it’s out in the wild. I don’t know if adding more direct secondary skin color is possible, but I’m pretty sure structural changes are right out. ;{

I’ll just be sure keep hairline concerns in mind for the future.

How about something that’ll help qol across all races and most all hairstyles……..allow us to dye the accessories. The extremely limited color selection that we are stuck with permanently is rather depressing to say the least.

Review/ Is Guild Wars 2 "In Good Hands"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Essence Snow.3194

I’ll have to echo the sentiment that it really does feel like it’s not going where it has the potential to go.

If they focused more on making the game fun, the rest of what they want would follow/be a result of the game entertaining more players.

Essence Snow.3194

I made meterologicus a while back. I found the whole ordeal a horrible experience and it is definitely something I will not repeat. 1st there was absolutely nothing fun about it….2nd the rng of the precursors left me beyond bitter, 3rd buying the end all be all weapons is pitiful design. I felt slimy that I was buying my precursor, that I couldn’t earn it outright. There is a major difference between making/earning something and just buying it. The latter just killed the whole deal for me.

Yeah I knew Chestnut was on FA, but he wasn’t a dev (think he was qa/tester guy)in the sense that makes wvw decisions to my understanding. I was aiming this more towards those that have the ability to alter the course of wvw.

Maybe if this kind of thing could have been predicted?…….Oh wait…it was………..As someone else noted in another thread, yes there are a lot of conflicting opinions on this forum, but if they listened to the overall tones, they could have seen this type of thing coming as it was an evident concern of a lot of posters prior to implementation.

Long answer: NO it is not at this time alt friendly. This is common knowledge within the game. Dyes, wvw, bis, fractals, dungeons, time gating, bosses, etc etc etc…. the list goes on and on.
Short answer: NO

Just a thought…..I believe the devs should walk a mile in some of our shoes for the 7 weeks of league and play on the servers that are guaranteed 7 weeks of imbalance. This would allow them to see/feel what leagues do to a lot of servers.

Who gave up on the reptile already?

in Tequatl Rising

Essence Snow.3194

What’s actually sad is most in the forums already voiced their concerns with the 80 man min req even before teq was launched. even foreseeing a repeat of southsun as well as several suggestions to make the loot count if they’re making the content this hard. sad to say EVERYTHING WENT TO DEFT EARS and to make matters worse we see this “We are aware of it and actively discussing it.We were hoping originally it would take days/weeks for players to defeat Tequatl instead of 12 hrs.” which is pretty much what arena net thinks of our opinions.

And ohh god the same clueless group is still planning to screw around with the other bosses…

Don’t forget about other things like wvw bloodlust, leagues, etc etc……. Reading =/=understanding or considering

Some ANET interfered with our GvG

in WvW

Posted by: Essence Snow.3194

Essence Snow.3194

Sincere apology? Umm yeah… that needs to come from the person who actually interfered with the GvG and maybe some of the people responding to him (for good measure). This “sincere apology” is coming from someone who wasn’t even involved and while it’s pretty and all that, it doesn’t mean much aside from him saying “[guild gameplay] is extremely important to us, and an area we are paying a great deal of attention to”. However, those are just words and judging by the actions so far, and the most recent addition of these bloodlust buffs, I’d say they’re hollow words if not outright lies.

In a circumstance like the one we had here it is usually the responsibility of not the offender but of those overseeing them to put out an apology. I can almost guarantee that they do not appriciate having to do so and will reprimand those in the wrong. It’s simply the way things work when companies are involved.

Ofc most of it is situational. For instance 1h sword uses projectiles as we all know, thus it is not a good weapon for circumstances where foes reflect or for target boxes (burrow/traps/etc) that bug out to them.

There is "Luck", and then there is "RNG Luck"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Essence Snow.3194

The only evidence I have that the rng is working is Anet saying it is. They been proven wrong before. So why should I take their word as proof? A: I shouldn’t.

Every day (almost as I have missed a few, but have 4k+ hrs 12+ AP) has eluded me to think that it is either broken, bugged, or just incorrectly implemented.

We all know those players who get everything and those that get relatively nothing. I saw someone give the example of a lottery. Well my reply to that is if someone consistently won the lotto, I can guarantee there’d be an investigation. If someone wins consistently at a casino, there will be trained eyes on them, examining everything, and lots of reviewing from the security room. These types of things scream of something not being right as does the rng in this game.

What evidence is there that it is working properly?
