Having essentially nothing, this cost me well under 2g to do just now. Can’t thank you enough. One step closer to Master Crafter now, you rock! ^.^

Lack of Gossamer Scraps

I haven’t done any serious stat-keeping, but I’ve tracked how many gossamer/ori I get per basic salvage kit and it ranges from 1-4 total, since I salvage both cloth and metal items (medium isn’t worth it since leather is dirt cheap). Considering they’re both “rare” mats that fall in the 10% chance of retrieving, if you salvaged just cloth items you should be landing somewhere near that 1-4 range for just gossamer (or so I think). I’d have to say you’re probably just really unlucky salvaging so far, or you’re using crude kits :P

Long term you should be getting ~2.5 gossamer average per kit (10% of 25 uses is 2.5), plus a bunch of silk. Also realize ori is worth good money, so I’d advise to also salvage metals & heavy armor lvl 75+ since you can sell those, buy gossamer, and still be left with a little coin

Lack of Gossamer Scraps

I’d actually advise against using the Mystic Salvage kit just for Gossamer. Save that kit’s uses for salvaging ectos off of lvl 70+ rares. If you already have the stones needed to make the kit though, it might be worth using. If you have to buy gems with in-game gold to get the stones needed to make it, it’s surely not worth it to use for harvesting gossamer.

I’ve been using Basic Salvage Kits (1-up from crude) and getting gossamer/ori from salvaging lvl 76+ whites without a problem. You’ll also get a bunch of silk doing this, which you can then use in the forge to make gossamer when you hit 250.

Tier 3 Cultural armour pricing

in Suggestions

ExTribble.7108

I’d vote no. Cultural armor is there for the looks, not to be competitively priced. If you want to bring comptetitive pricing into the equation, the OoW/Vigil/Priory set costs should be also reduced since you can get extremely similar (stat-wise) gear off the TP. Clearly that’s not the purpose of those armors either, it’s again for the looks.

GW1 veterans like me see these cultural sets as the equivalent to GW1’s FoW sets. Ridiculously expensive (~1m+ currency) and had the same stats as the cheap 5k sets. I’d like them to stay that way so that there’s some sort of prestige (expensive) armor set just for the looks.

In my opinion, if any changes are to be made to the T3 cultural sets, its the change from rare to exotic quality, to make it an actually usable armor-set rather than just a piece to transmute.

Are the Box of X's Draconic Armor worth it?

in Crafting

ExTribble.7108

I don’t recall the thread (therefore no linky), but a dev did confirm that this is being looked into. He/she claimed these boxes’ total cost should be the same as crafting each piece individually.

Therefore, even if they do fix it, it’s a waste of money since you’re essentially paying for the recipe to gain no advantage over crafting individual parts.

Help me pick my next class!

in Players Helping Players

ExTribble.7108

I’ve only seriously played an elementalist. From what I can tell from my own experience and prowling the forums is that they’re not the easiest class to master, and are currently seen as underpowered by some (with whom I agree).
For elementalists I’ll answer the question, for necro’s I’ll let someone else do it :P
1) Yes
2) Depends on the dungeon, and some teams outright won’t let you in because you’re an elementalist, for some stupid reason.
3) I’ve barely dabbled in PvP, but staff Eles seem quite useful.
4) Essentially 3 weapon sets (you can’t swap during combat). S/D for relatively balanced solo play, D/D for aggressive close-range high dps, Staff for AoE spam and support.
5) I love playing an elementalist. It’s practically impossible to sit spamming one or two skills since you’re useless if you’re not swapping attunements. I’d say it’s as fun as it gets. I have a noobie guardian, ranger, and engineer. None compare to the fun of playing an elementalist.

Take this with a grain of salt, it is opinion after all

Nothing serious so far. They’re mainly focused on bugfixes and balancing atm from what I can tell. If you want to see the changes that have already been bade in the past 2 weeks, at least look through the patch notes here:

Remember, we’re just a month into the game, so they’re probably not going to be releasing giant chunks of content just yet :P

Lowering the T3 Cultural Armor set cost

in Suggestions

ExTribble.7108

Can we please keep cultural armor as the shiny, super-expensive-armor-of-doom for those of us who care to have long-term goals? As Adine said, this is the GW2 equivalent of GW1’s FoW armor. To be honest, I thought the OoW/Vigil/Priory gear would also be priced this way (prior to release), but I guessed wrong.

But, I must agree the fact it’s only “rare” quality is kind of a bummer and makes it only worth transmuting with your better gear. If there are any changes to be made, its making the change from rare to exotic quality so that it’s a useful set on its own. Not cheapening the price.

Stuck...for a looong time

Use waypoints to teleport out after reporting the bug. If you’re dead-broke, go to the mists (Hero Panel→PvP) & do the tutorial if you haven’t already done it. You can then go through an asura gate to Lion’s Arch free of charge, where you can take another asura gate back to Divinity’s Reach

I’ve gotten stuck in walls, cannons, etc. more times than I care to keep count. As long as you’ve reported the bug, just teleport out and move on. It’ll be added to their perpetual list of stuff to fix :P

Elementalist Weapon Swap

in Suggestions

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

@Skylord: The idea is allowing elementalists one OUT OF COMBAT weapon swap. This has nothing to do with attunements counting as weapon changes, we know this

@NinjaKnight: Adding out of combat slots to the in-combat weapon swap slots would probably confuse pretty much everyone who doesn’t play elementalist/engineer, but I guess that could be done if it’s deemed as making the playing field more even. It also doesn’t enable skill changes on the fly since you’d have to wait until you’re out of combat to do anything.

Anyways, +1 and extend the courtesy to engineers, since I think they’re in the same situation with being locked into one weapon set. I believe this was suggested on the GW2Guru forums as well, and it seemed to have been supported by most.
