Misunderstood the issue, sorry. Just tested it out and this is definitely bugged/exploitable. Needs a fix.

Glyph of Lesser Elementals surprisingly doesn’t have this issue. Probably because they left the 60 sec cooldown (life) of the elemental showing rather than replacing it with a blank skill slot.

Satchel recipe for Ascended armors?

ExTribble.7108

I don’t know if such a forge recipe exists but if it did it would be no less costly than crafting them individually, and you lose a chestpiece just to obtain the recipe to craft the satchel.

Currently the exotic satchels use the same materials to craft the full set as it would to craft each piece individually, so there’s no difference in cost between the two.

Is this happening above ground only or after you go underwater? Since there’s no underwater form of this elite, it has the up arrow show to give you the option of slotting an elite that works underwater. It shouldn’t be letting you essentially swap out the skill while it’s on cooldown O.o

I got my main (ele) to 80 in ~60 hours through personal story and PvE. Last alt I leveled (necro) to 80 in ~40 hours of gameplay through finishing the story and world exploration. You cannot possibly believe that 40-60 hrs of gameplay justifies a free precursor or legendary. That’s just plain absurd even if it is soul/account-bound. Since this has been beaten to death by the posters above me, I’ll leave it at that.

Did you forget about all the rewards + skins you got along the way? There’s lots of human T3 weapon skins you get for free along the way. These are normally purchased for 63k karma each. Did those count for nothing? The weapons with valuable sigils you received as rewards are suddenly worthless too (a few of Force and such, salvageable→sellable)? The huge chunks of XP you get for a simple mission are also trivial to you? Just because the reward wasn’t a pile of gold or a sellable item doesn’t mean it’s worthless.

I do agree that we should get at least an exotic weapon from completion, possibly replacing the current Pact Victory Token rewards with exotic versions. The final reward of greens was underwhelming, but I wouldn’t think anything more than 2 rares and an exotic would be fair. It’s just one mission.

Legendary Weapon - Where to Start?

in Crafting

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

World Completion first, due to the WvW requirement. You may have to wait a few weeks for your server to change colors, giving you access to areas that would be nearly impossible otherwise. Even if you don’t start with PvE world completion, start working on the WvW portion as soon as you can and watch for when your server takes over difficult areas. Using a thief is a huge advantage, as you can use stealth and SB #5 to get around really quickly and check off every camp behind enemy lines without a problem.

When to get the precursor is kinda unclear. It depends on whether you expect prices to go up (in which case you’d buy asap) or down (buy at the end). I prefer the precursor first as it essentially sets my goal and pushes me through getting the rest. I bought Spark when starting Incinerator at around 900g, and thought I was paying too much. I got lucky :x

Aside from those, get your clovers before your T6 materials, since when you roll for clovers you’ll get some T6 in the process. The rest is really up to you. Obby shards and badges are easily farmed, especially now with megaservers Balthazar is often captured through most of the day. The plat/mith/ori can be farmed daily while you focus on other goals. I recently did incinerator myself and didn’t have to buy any metals to complete that part of the legendary.

Key map acting crazy

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

ExTribble.7108

On the topic of Logitech and keybinds: I’ve found the software to be very glitchy at times with simple copy/paste functions, and generally anything using modifiers like Ctrl/Alt and I’ve had other issues on top of the ctrl appearing stuck. For example, I try copying text from a website, and the website’s source code appears (which I assume is a different hotkey than ctrl+c). Even if you separate the buttons like you appear to have it, it can still mess up and appears to be a software related issue. I recommend you keep modifiers out of your mouse/keyboard macro buttons and just reach for them on the keyboard.

I’ve experienced this problem both on my G600 mouse and G110 keyboard, so I blame the software :/ It doesn’t happen all the time, but it happens enough that I don’t bother with such functions anymore.

Bottom line, you won’t get much help if any by begging on the forums. Legendaries are meant to take a ridiculous amount of time and money just for a skin. You must be willing to put in the effort (or pay real money for gems and convert to gold) if you expect to ever get a legendary. I surely won’t give you a single copper.

Solo Ele help for Estate of Decay Mission

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

I did this one ages ago on my ele, so this advice might be a bit dated. Use the pillars as a shield against the shockwave. I’d dance in and out from behind the pillars and use a staff, staying behind when that attack was telegraphing so it’d just hit the wall and I’d be safe. It’s slow (and I mean really slow), but it works since you should be able to kill the courier from the safety of the pillar before it gets to the Mouth. Be sure to do as much damage as you can while your allies are still alive.

That being said, when I did this one on my engi I ran zerk gear and just bursted him down with grenades with little to no difficulty. I think only one ally went down in that fight.

What is your current gear/trait setup? Aside from D/D which is troublesome due to the auto knockback of the spectral mobs, any other weapon setup should be ok to take this guy out.

Is it legit to use mouse macros?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

how about 3 macros:
‘1’ moves your cursor to his picture and right-clicks
‘2’ moves your cursor to ‘Join in map’ and clicks
‘3’ moves your cursor to ‘OK’ under the ‘Map is full’ window and clicks
then all he does is press 123 123 123 123 123 until he enters. can spam that probably 3 times a second instead of 1 time every 3 seconds for the usual method.

also, it could be argued that a macro that repeatedly tries to join it for you is indeed 1 click=action. 99% of the time, nothing will happen = no action. so 1 click to start the macro = the single action is that he will eventually move to another map.

To be safe, I’d separate the cursor movements and clicks into separate keys, so in your example, it would require 6 keypresses. Only reason is because this is a grey area, as a cursor movement can easily be considered an action.

As to your second point, I completely disagree. The action is clicking. You can’t re-define the action to be one that results from multiple clicks/movements. And a failed action is still an action. One click to start a macro that moves the mouse and clicks multiple times doesn’t count as one action. Just because it has the potential to result in nothing doesn’t mean you can loop it either. By your logic, I can setup a macro to solo a champion, because killing the champion is one “action” and if it fails, I can have it res me and loop back because the action failed. That’s absurd and a clear violation of the 1:1 rule as there is no single keypress you can normally do to perform these functions I’ve just thrown as examples.

As mtpelion said, using macros essentially as key rebinds is the only real allowed use of a macro.

Eternity + another legendary?

in Crafting

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

Eternity is not worth crafting the normal way. Sunrise and Twilight will cost you ~2.5k gold in mats for each, so that’s about 5k gold, not including karma and other stuff. Eternity currently has a sell listing of 4400 gold, which is less than the cost of making it yourself. You might even be able to get it for less if you wait with a buy order.

Ofc this only works if you’re ok with buying it off the TP. I personally like that final forging moment in creating the legendary, but I’d really consider doing it through the TP in the case of Eternity.

Is it legit to use mouse macros?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

The rule is 1:1 keypresses, mouse buttons or otherwise. For example, you press a button on the side of your mouse and its macro presses “F”. That’s ok. If you press a button on the side of your mouse and it double clicks (2 keypresses), it’s not ok.

I don’t see how a (legal) macro could help you in joining, but I haven’t given it much thought. If you feel you’re in a gray area with this rule, consider it to be not allowed to avoid getting into any trouble.

Non-damaging knockbacks put you in combat

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

In the past, skills that did no damage but had knockback effects (i.e. Gust, Line of Warding, Unsteady Ground, etc.) did not put you into combat where your run speed is reduced. This made them useful for preventing and breaking aggro when running around.

As of this latest patch, skills like these put you in combat. Another oddity is that if you use Shield of Absorption or Gust to knock back an enemy before they’re aggroed, it puts you in combat but the mob doesn’t chase after you. Is this an intended change that just didn’t get added to the patch notes?

1&4) “Q.Q WARRIORS OP! WAAAAH!” Others have already said why this is flat out wrong. Learn about classes (and maybe play them gasp) before complaining.

2) Making connections that don’t exist. No expansions (soon, never stated that there’d never be expansions) doesn’t equate to no new classes/weapons.

3) They get banned when caught. Litigation costs way too much money to be feasible to take down the sites.

5) Crafting is an easy way to skip the early levels when leveling an alt. I like being able to skip the trait-less first 30 levels by spending some coin on crafting. Your suggestion would anger more people than it’d appease.

I do agree that some more early level skin variety is needed, but that’s likely not a high priority. People spend much more time playing at max level than they do leveling.

New Player Questions

in Crafting

ExTribble.7108

Gw2crafts.net is the best source I know of for pricing and walking you through leveling crafting. It updates periodically based on TP prices so that it gives a reasonable route to maxing out the craft. If you only care about leveling it up for ascended, you really don’t need much other than that.

The wiki page for ascended armor lists what materials you’ll need to craft a full set. Put those items into the TP or GW2Spidy to estimate your costs. As a tailor, bolts of damask alone run me over 360g for the full set. It’s very expensive assuming you’re starting from zero.

Edit: A lot of what you need for ascended is time gated, i.e. you can only craft one of a material per day. As a result buying these off the TP will usually cost more than crafting it yourself, so if you buy it directly you’re essentially paying a premium to get it right now.

mats for 400-500 jeweler?

For getting from 400-500, it’ll probably be the same as for other equipment crafts were, where you can refine (ori & jewels maybe?)your way to 425, discover exos to 450, refine ascended mats to 475, then discover more exos to 500. Ectoplasm Drop Rate

in Crafting

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

See siggy for link to my data so far. I’ve done about 300 since I last updated it, and my global average has actually gone up a bit (from about 0.878 to 0.881). Currently running on a streak of 14 consecutive non-zero salvages, which is one away from breaking my current longest streak.

Short answer: salvage rates aren’t broken. As others said, there are plenty of people who salvage by the thousands and will notice a change like this within a day or two. The last (and only) time they broke salvage rates, someone posted their data within a day to bring attention to the devs. If you only do small scale salvaging, there’s no reason to worry if you occasionally have a bad streak.

Edited to add: I salvage anywhere from about 100-200 rares per week. If rates were broken, it would’ve skewed my current overall rate noticeably. I just checked the averages manually and mine are higher (0.91) for the most recent set of 100, and I know I’ve done at least 100 since the last update. Absolutely nothing to worry about. When in doubt, track your salvages. I used to be a conspiracy theorist on this until I started crunching numbers myself.

Suggestion! OOC Elem swapping

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

The only thing you’re failing to see is that skills can be used OOC. Speed and other boons can be applied while OOC. You can then switch to your “combat set” while those boons are active and you have no cooldowns on your current weapon set. The entire skill set (which remember an ele has twice as many as any other class except engineer) is “balanced” for whether you’re in combat or not. This is especially true of movement skills and other boon related skills.

It would be nice to develop a way to keep your “preferred” weapons out of your inventory to stop from selling them but as for a weapon swap, I’d be against that.

This is a funny post, because I already do this. I usually run staff, and will routinely equip an offhand dagger for lightning 4+5. Nothing stopping me from doing that. Are you suggesting that weapon swapping out of combat should be limited/nerfed? Because your post suggests that it’s somehow imbalanced for me to be doing this. That’s absolutely ridiculous imo.

Maybe you got caught alone with a staff equipped. You can switch to earth, immobilize, then put up a wall to give you time to escape, then go lighting and use swiftness while dropping a static field, then go water if you took any damage and drop an ice field to slow your attacker down (you still have your slot skills to use also). If you get away then you can switch to daggers or whatevs and bring the pain.

If you can get so far as to get out of combat using snares, you’ll have plenty of time to open up your inventory and swap weapons the traditional way as it only takes 2-3 seconds. It’ll take longer than that for someone to close a gap big enough to put you ooc.

Then again, if someone is bad enough that they eat the immobilize, wall, static field, and walk through the frost field to stack chill on themselves, you probably didn’t have to swap to D/D to wreck such a terrible player.

Edited to add: No reason this should be limited to eles/engis btw. All classes can get this to avoid the apparent feeling of OP-ness of this. Everyone can use it to fit another set for an alternate trait set or an alternate play style.

World Completion Suggestion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

If this was true at that Legendaries take months to make, then why can I buy one from the trading post in less than 30 seconds?

Also im not disputing that a dedicated WvW player could get all of WvW mapped in under a week, maybe 2 depending on the matchup/ how strong that server is, but sadly 98% of this game are not WvW dedicated and they full under the causal players this game is aimed at, and under the current setup, the map completion does not work.

Fact is, a WvW only player will not care that the PvE player doesn’t have to map WvW, and a PvE only player will not care that the WvW player doesn’t have to map PvE for the same result, so time is a mute point.

How long did it take you to farm the gold required to buy it in “30 seconds”? Oh wait, quite a while. Yes, I get that there are exceptions such as people who are ridiculously good at playing the TP and credit card warriors, but those are a select few when considering the number of players working toward legendaries.

I’m don’t believe I’d be considered dedicated to WvW. I’m still rank 20ish, and I got most of those levels recently by bag-farming on reset night with my brother who’s trying to draw me in. I finished both WvW completions while being probably under rank 10. Would you call that dedicated? I think not. Don’t go around throwing around false statistics btw, it weakens your argument terribly. Most of the people I know enjoy WvW to some degree, does that let me claim 98% are dedicated? No. Don’t bother with the opposite until you manage to get hard numbers.

There’s a simple workaround to the WvW completion issue you’re complaining about, and you just hit it on the head. If WvW doesn’t appeal to you, continue doing PvE to farm the gold required to buy a legendary. If PvE doesn’t appeal to you, farm WvW until you can buy a legendary. The TP is the way for people to get around doing what they don’t like.

No – it would make ele’s too OP and they are already OP.

Ele’s already have 4 separate skill trees they can use with one set of weapons and that is = to the other professions having 4 sets of weapons to switch to. Wait – they only have 2, so no – you want ele’s to have 8 and the others still to have 2 – that would be OP, even if it was out of combat.

Every profession has a weakness in their builds, and that is why the game is set up the way it is. Having more than one weapon for an ele to swap to would mean that weakness would be gone. That is not fair and that is not balanced.

Your argument contradicts itself. You say it’s unfair for them to have another weapon (set) to swap to because it gives access to more skills, yet it’s out of combat so it gives absolutely zero advantage. This will change nothing when fighting eles. It’s just a convenience feature. Add the option for an ooc set for other classes as well if it tickles your fancy, but it should be for eles & engis at a minimum.

Out of combat convenience changes make absolutely no difference when it comes to balancing classes.

Suggestion! OOC Elem swapping

This has been suggested since the beta days with overwhelming support, and considering some old QoL features asked for around that time were included in the recent Feature Pack, there’s no reason to lose hope this might get in next year :P

Daily items, nodes, and achievements stuck

Make sure you’re checking after reset, not just next day; reset is at midnight UTC. For example: I’m in EST, this translates to 8pm for me. If I do my dailies at 9pm, they won’t be available to be done at 9am the next calendar day, but instead after 8pm.

If the problem still persists, submit a support ticket. Devs do not respond to ingame bug reports (as it says in the window), and if this is bugged for you it may be account-specific since it isn’t widespread. They should be able to fix it for you if that’s the case.

World Completion Suggestion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

Gift of exploration is for legendaries. Legendaries take months to make. I can almost guarantee that your server will either cap the areas you can’t access your first round mapping at some point, or it will change colors over those months. Either of those gives you access.

I’ve done full WvW completion twice now and it never took more than 2-3 weeks of periodic checking of the maps to get what I needed. Actual time spent mapping the areas was probably under 6 hours. That’s absurdly unfair since there’s no way you can get full PvE completion with 6 hours of effort.

Bottom line: just because you may have to wait doesn’t mean it deserves a greater reward.

Note that map completion can be a problem due to the need for WvW completion. So as others suggested start with that. Get as much map completion as you can in one shot, then check periodically to see if the remaining ones you need have opened up.

Need a clarification on Fiery Greatsword....

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

ExTribble.7108

Definitely not a bug as it’s working as intended. Is it an exploit? Don’t know, but considering it’s been used for months, and months without even a peep from devs, I think it’s safe to assume it’s working as intended. Serious exploits tend to be closed off in less than a month.

Is it OP? That’s up for debate. I don’t see it being so powerful it’s game breaking, since a mesmer using time-warp on their full zerk party trivializes bosses almost as much as using FGS, and doesn’t even require pinning a boss to a wall which may not be possible/feasible in many cases.

Bottom line, it’s safe to do. You’re not risking a ban for using it.

What if WP cost scale on Achievement points?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ExTribble.7108

For the people who say that having high AP would be detrimental, isn’t that the same thing with leveling your character?

Not even close. You can farm gold much faster at level 80 than you can at level 1. That’s not even mentioning that going from 1-80 is only detrimental in WP costs up to a certain point. Tacking this onto AP would make it infinitely detrimental, which is beyond absurd.

On top of what other people have pointed out as obvious, this is actually an improvement over what they currently have in place. Your options were zero access if you miss it, or 200gems for access if you miss it. I’d take the second. And since you can get gems with ingame gold, you technically don’t have to pay real money for access.

[Guardian] Shelter Block being bypassed

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

ExTribble.7108

You gained the benefit of having the block active. This is similar to how elementalist’s Churning Earth functions, where even if you don’t cripple someone within the field it’ll go into full cooldown if interrupted/stopped before the damage hits.

This is an intended function, unless you’re dealing with non-unblockable attacks causing it to go on full cooldown.

It’s related to the quest Erus Keb linked. It’s a nice little GW1 throwback. Has nothing to do with season 2 as it’s been there since release afaik.

If the attacks are unblockable, as is Slick Shoes (engi) or Spectral Wall (necro) for example, Shelter won’t be able to block it.

Otherwise, do you know which skills or what the animation looked like that bypassed Shelter?

Are heals Instant?

What’s probably throwing you off is the animation of the health bar/bubble whatever you call it. The number will jump to the correct value, but it will have a quick filling animation. The ‘delay’ of this animation does not add to the cast time of heal skills.

New crafting discipline coming soon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

Very expensive for very little convenience. I’d rather spend 800 gems on a new character slot and get gasp TWO more different crafting disciplines to switch between. Everything crafted is account bound, so this is just a huge waste. Even if you’re one of the few with all professions maxed on one character, 800 gems could probably fund releveling that craft (and maybe another!) on an alt with zero convenience charge ever.
