If you already completed those zones on that character, you won’t receive another completion reward when new POIs/WPs are introduced. For Wayfarer Foothills, the only new stuff added that I recall is the Cragstead POI. For Snowden it should be Angvar’s Trove WP. If you only picked up those two, you probably had already gotten completion for these zones beforehand.

If that’s not the case, I would recommend clearing a zone you haven’t yet started (or barely started) and see if you get the reward. It’s possible that you missed opening a zone-completion chest in another zone and it’s blocking you from receiving any new ones.

Hard-to-get gear, update to ascended stats?

They should not be simply given upgraded stats. Ascended gear costs a lot because of the stat boost. Those items cost a lot because of looks and that’s it. You get what you paid for.

Also, where will it stop? If they release another new tier, would these continue to be upgraded? What about legendaries being the only permanent BiS weapons, are they going to throw that in the trash as well?

People who made these weapons should not have had any expectation of it getting a free stat boost as new tiers are introduced, since it was never guaranteed. Their price is for looks, end of story. Transmutation Crystals also exist for a reason.

Shadowplay is still technically in beta iirc. Even if Anet could fix it on their end (doubtful), it’d be a waste of time until it’s out of beta as things can quickly change and maybe even cause their “fix” to cause more glitches :P

What you’re describing is exactly how the system behaves when you haven’t accepted a reward from what I’ve seen. As Malganis said, go back to every single zone and check if a chest appears. Give it a few seconds to pop in case you happen to lag a bit. Shouldn’t cost too much if you WP between zones near the portals to ones adjacent to them. Be sure to make a list so you can cross off each zone you’ve checked. You don’t want to accidentally miss one or waste time re-visiting ones you already checked.

It’s time consuming, but I can say with almost absolute certainty it will resolve the issue. I don’t think there’s anything support can really do for you here anyways.

What khani said is the cause as far as I can tell. I have noticed though that the presents will fully reset if someone misses a jump in that stage and falls. Can’t say this happens every time without fail though.

It is still doable, although difficult and you need to get lucky. I’ve had maybe a 50% success rate going at that half-exploded state versus almost 100% when I jump it early :P If you want to be the martyr, pick a line of presents that has no gaps, and try to go straight up that line. Sometimes it’ll remain in tact long enough that you’ll only have to do one sidestep and barely make it through.

Winter's Day Jumping Puzzle Bug

You can dodge on the start panel towards the gate that takes you back to LA. It doesn’t auto-trigger (requires an interact), so you won’t die. This is not a bug specific to this minigame though, the death animation/position just sometimes gets stuck. I haven’t found a pattern to it :/

I’d recommend starting with a ranger at least until you get a feel for how the combat system works. If you don’t like it, then you can move to another class already having learned the “basics”.

Elementalists have a high skill floor (as someone already said I think), and engineers have a rather high skill ceiling. Starting with one of these and not picking up on the strengths of these classes quickly may deceive you into thinking the game is hard. That being said, my main is an elementalist, it was my first char and I don’t regret it at all. I found the challenge very enjoyable.

Popping noise occuring randomly

A long time ago I found someone post a solution that reducing the sound quality slider helps with these issues. I’ve never had the popping sound, but I used to get the blaring siren bug (multiple times per night at daily bosses) and since making the change it hasn’t returned even once.

The existence of a workaround that works for some people is not an excuse to leave this bug unattended to since release. Could we get an official update on this, even if there’s no progress in finding out what the cause is? :P

Exactly what STRanger said. Also, if you watch your boons & floating numbers, even if the message doesn’t show you still get the effects. In regards to the delayed appearance of the field, just wait until the skill has finished casting, then blast. It’ll work. Sometimes there’s a delay in the field showing up visually (happens back at home where the internet connection is slower) but the server knows it’s there and the combo should work properly.

What do you mean by skills not firing at all? Any examples? I know conjure frost bow messes up half the time when you hit 4 too soon after casting it an the bow doesn’t ever spawn but the skill goes into full cooldown. It’s especially prone to doing this in fire attunement with staff #4…

Crafted MF items can only change to other crafted stat combinations. Dire, Rabid, and Soldiers are not craftable stat combinations, so you can’t change it to those. Only non-crafted MF items had the freedom to change to any stat combo.

I’m curious, which professions count as “most” for you? Of the few professions I’ve played thoroughly, I can say guardians and elementalists have great condition removal capability, some of which is shared with nearby allies. Warriors are decent as well.

I have a feeling you’re running into a condition build, which as you probably can tell, spams conditions and you can’t deal with it. That’s almost like saying “why don’t I have more invuln skills on shorter recharge because I don’t like taking damage?”. Learn to dodge and burn condition removals on the conditions that matter, otherwise counter with strong regen and bursting your opponent(s) down.

Indicator of Salvagability?

Anything bought with karma cannot be salvaged. I think this is also the same for items bought with WvW badges. It’s intentional as far as I know.

When transmuting an item that can’t be salvaged with one that can, it should pick the salvageability of the one whose stats you pick. Or at least that’s how it seems to be working for me.

I’ve got the same problem. It seems that if you use the stats from a non-salvageable item, like stuff bought with WvW tokens or from karma vendors, you can’t salvage the item at all.

I can see why they did it, because otherwise you could transmute the stats to a cheap skin and then salvage, but they should at least allow you to salvage to remove the upgrade… Spare weapons you don’t use anymore with valuable sigils are a waste of space and money :/

Fire Elemental Impossible

Stop standing still. Before the boss revamps practically every boss event in the game is stand still and spam 1. They’re changing that.

How to beat it with little/no effort:
1) Kite in a circle around the elemental (don’t walk into it) and just range it down. This kiting keeps the “fire tornadoes” from affecting you for most of the fight.

2) Stop to kill spawned embers if you have more than 1-2 tracking you. Before you know it, you might be unlucky enough to have 4+ wanting to burn your face off and you won’t have a chance to react. Usually you’ll only have 1-2 following you at a time, and they’ll probably switch targets before they really become a problem.

3) Dodge out of AoEs.

It’s not that difficult if you apply the same techniques used in high level areas. Bosses are meant to be challenging, not faceroll-easy.

Example criticism: “The combat system in GW2 is terrible. Dodging is an over-used, terrible mechanic that just promotes pure zerk groups and discourages the build/profession diversity the game was supposedly going to promote.”

Look at that, a point of criticism without a personal attack. You can communicate your issues without pointing fingers at the developers specifically (or sneakily). That’s the change they’re pushing for, and in the end it’ll probably be better (if implemented reasonably ofc) since we’ll see less of “I hate <insert dev name here>, he’s a nub faildev and should be fired!” and more real, useful discussion going on about the issues in the game.

If you have a good argument/discussion to make, developer call-outs/insults are completely unnecessary. It just shows weakness in your argument.

Level 80 through crafting

When the game first came out, you could get almost 15 levels through crafting one craft to 400- it’s been nerfed more and more.

I recently tried it out. From level 5, maxed out all of them (including the ones to 500) and was still left well short of 80. I think currently one 400 will net you around 7 or 8 levels.

First off, it was always 10 levels per craft (until ascended came out) so it hasn’t been “nerfed more and more”, just once. The only time you’d end up with more than 10 is if you started under level 20(?) due to level xp scaling differently.

With the introduction of ascended, you now need to hit 500 to get the full 10 levels. The only real failure of this change is that the crafts that are still capped at 400 have received the xp distribution change, which makes no sense whatsoever since you can no longer craft to 80.

If you forgot to accept any of the reward chests in any zone, the world completion chest will not appear. Try running through them and making sure a chest isn’t there when you zone into any area.

Exotic items: sell or salvage

For me it comes down to the value of the rune inside the exotic. If it’s worth substantially less than the exotic, I sell the item. If it’s worth substantially more, I use a black lion kit (save them from your dalies for this). That way you get free ecto’s+dark matter + the more expensive rune back.

If the rune isn’t worth much and the exotic isn’t worth much either… then I would probably sell it unless you need the dark matter. Iirc on average you get somewhere between 2-3 ectos per exotic (if anyone has the exact average I would love to know).

^This. On some items with expensive runes, salvaging off one ecto + the rune will net you a profit right there. I got all the dark matter needed for four ascended weapons by spending only about 2g. If I waited with buy orders and sell orders I may have been able to profit, but I’m too impatient for that :P

And to your question, it’s 1.25 ectos/salvage average for rares, 2 for exotics with a BLSK if I recall correctly.

Runes have a level requirement. I’m assuming it has a superior rune? If you pick the stats of anything under level 60, the rune should not be able to be transferred (and probably won’t show up as a result).

Efficient bank space

A personal guild bank is a great idea, but please note that you cannot deposit soulbound or account bound items into it! It’s great for hoarding extra stacks of materials like ore, cloth, jewels, etc, but useless for things like boosters and the like. If you have spare character slots, loading up a low level char with fractal boxes works well for storing all the extra account bound stuff you may rarely use.

Bite the bullet and level a craft to 450 so you can start refining the dust. 100 dust = 1 refined. It clears bank space and will level you slowly to 475 as you farm/buy other mats to eventually make ascended stuff.

People are already finding safespots for Golem (stand on the stairs with 1200+ range and you can practically afk 1-spam him). The biggest trick to FE is to not stand still so the roaming embers that burn/blind can’t swarm you. Maw is still a joke.

Which boss(es) are you having trouble with? The HP buffs in some cases are a bit excessive, but the new offensive abilities from some bosses just require you to pay attention instead of letting you stand still and 1-spam the boss to death.

Scroll down to inscriptions and make the berserker inscription. Then make the ori chest panel under crafting components and you should then be able to make the final product.

Any recipe you’ve made before or discovered will always appear (unless you filter it out), so just because you see it, doesn’t mean you already have all the parts to make it.

World boss bug (no chest reward)

Look at your xp, karma, and gold rewards. You’re being hit with diminishing returns. If you park a character at one of these events, they’re registered as doing the same event consecutively, so they start to get penalized.

If you want to use alts for world bosses, move them between at least two (I do three to be extra stupidly safe) different ones so that diminishing returns doesn’t hit you.

No World Event Reward (Daily) Chest

This has actually been occurring since Diminishing Returns was introduced. Since diminishing returns is character specific, you’re logged as simply doing the event twice in a row, so it kicks in and blocks the reward. This may be intended so I’m not sure it’s really a bug in the traditional sense.

Easiest workaround is to have alts hop between two boss events that are nearby each other so that they don’t get hit with DR.

Was I unlucky? Maybe.
But no matter how unlucky you are, there should be absolutely no chance of not getting enough of them from all the exotics crafted from 400-500.

Suggestion:
1-3 Glob[s] of Dark Matter per exotic instead of 0-3.
So no matter how unlucky you are, you know, that after 10 exotics you have enough.

I mean, that is the start, what comes next? When you craft an ascended armor, you have a 50% chance of failling, which gives you a bolt of silk instead?

I can agree with the first part. Having a non-zero minimum would be fair since dark matter is untradeable (unlike ectos). Or at least boost it to the range of ectos where it’s 0-5 per salvage to boost the average long-run yield.

As for the second part: don’t fall into a slippery slope here (and yes, I know you’re exaggerating a bit). They were simply mimicking the behavior of salvaging for ectos with this new material. There’s no indication they’re headed to make crafting itself RNG based.

Nope. My salvage rates are hanging around the same as always. If you “feel” like it’s less, it’s probably just a bad streak. People notice/remember bad streaks more than good ones.

Protip: If you feel the need to start one of these threads after a few (<100 salvages), don’t. Many people regularly do large-scale salvaging (hundreds per day) and they will be the first ones to notice and have significant proof to back it up.

Dark matter, Ectos and RNG

I got 2 exotics today, I used a BL kit to salvage them. I got one ancient log, 2 elder logs, and 2 sigils. No ecto, no dark matter. Really? A-net actually thought of a way to separate more fools from their money.

Without going too far into it: your salvage size is pathetic. I’ve had streaks of over ten consecutive salvages yielding no ectos with mystic kits. Getting two zero-yield salvages in a row is a common occurrence, so stop whining.

So far I’ve used about one and a half black lion kits (haven’t tracked specific # of uses) and I’ve gotten about 30 dark matter. Dark matter seems to be produced at the same rate as ectos as far as I can tell, which really isn’t absurd.

As Lalocat stated, just salvage the exos you craft as you level up. Using a black lion kit you’ll probably get enough dark matter to make at least one ascended weapon.

Set a goal for yourself and don’t spend money as you get it. Soon enough you’ll see the money pile grows pretty quickly if you aren’t buying fancy stuff every chance you get. I never ran CoF, played the TP, sold gems, etc. and I was still able to save up 600g for my precursor (albeit over about a year).

It’s doable with a goal and self control :P

Granted, I run this loop on multiple chars/day, but it’s about ~50-60 shards in 30 mins once you get proficient at it with speed-boosts.

Game Client Broken

Forgot about the beta setup. I moved mine into the usual file folders once the game went live out of preference. It makes no functional difference having it on the desktop afaik though…

Did you delete the Gw2.dat file in that folder as well? That contains all the game files for Gw2, and should be pretty hefty (~17GB). Then download and run the setup and let it redownload the whole thing. With GW1 (which is setup the same way) buggy update behavior usually meant the .dat got corrupted somehow, so redownloading it usually fixed any issues for me.

If you deleted everything and reinstalled from scratch with no luck, then I’m out of ideas Hopefully someone else can pitch in here. Can’t hurt to send in a support ticket for Anet can give you some one-on-one help.

You can uninstall it by just deleting the Gw2 folder wherever you installed it.
Like mine is “E:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” (installed on second HDD, yours is likely on the “C:” drive).

See this page for reinstallation instructions.

If you know your current .exe works, consider just adding the -repair command to the shortcut (see wiki for specifics) and see if that fixes it. If that doesn’t work, then reinstall.

Fire Elemental FPS drop when transforming

Not really a bug, seems to just be how the game is built. Smoke effects are terribly demanding. Do you know the centaur trebuchets in west Gendarran Fields? Stand in the aoe that they hit in and watch your FPS drop similarly.

Grenade spamming on an engineer also kills my framerate if the camera is zoomed in near the explosions (i.e. throwing grenades on top of yourself in tight areas).

Realize that there’s a delay between the server telling the client “Hey, you need to render a bajillion objects, like now”, and your client producing the models. Take the Fire Elemental for example. At least on my end, my framerate tanks right before the smoke effects begin (anywhere from ~1-3 seconds before), and then it slowly recoups. Same thing might be happening with you that it’s just that slight delay between registering the need to render all the models, and the actual rendering taking effect.

That aside, there’s a huge discrepancy between zones when it comes to strain on your framerate. The Grove or the Black Citadel are much more resource heavy than say, Hoelbrak or Divinity’s Reach (for some reason), so that may factor into the equation as well.

Certain JP's Not Awarding Empyreal Fragments

I made a thread a few days ago, but it’s buried at this point. I’ll just add the ones I’ve found to yours:
Scavenger’s Chasm in Malchor’s Leap – None of the three chests gave fragments, all 12 orbs were used.
Obsidian Sanctum in WvW – Not sure if intentional since it’s technically a WvW map.

They most likely have a fixed set of general rules, with exceptions for specific terms used commonly in-game to avoid turning posts into gibberish.

Also note that people often use spaces, punctuation, etc. to try to circumvent the filter, so it’d actually make sense that it’s a little over-sensitive to that. It’s inconvenient, but effective at “kittening” those who try to get around the system.

Mystical Salvage Kit bugged ?

I did some sample size comparisons with my salvage data over 1k-ish attempts (taken over a long period of time though, so it may not be representative of any recent changes) with mystic salvage kits and it pretty much reflects what common sense dictates. Small sample sizes yield terrible results.
+- based on my global average(0.87—), not the accepted value(0.9).
Sample size of:
20: +-0.57 ectos/salv
50: +-0.33
100: +-0.2
200: +-0.12
300: +-0.07

Realize that in those 1k attempts, it doesn’t seem I had overly bad or good streaks, so the deviations could definitely be more (especially with the smaller samples). Since the last patch I’m running a little above average at 0.91, but only with a little over 20 salvages, so there’s nothing definitive there.

In saying you only got “3 times ectos”, do you mean you got at least one ecto as a yield three times, or 3 ectos total? Either way, you’re still close to the low end of the deviation in the sample size of 20 results I have gotten, which is reasonable.

Soft Wood Plank crafting bug

Not a bug. It was an intended change in the weeks(?) after the game’s release due to a huge oversupply of soft wood/planks as people were concentrated heavily in lowish level areas.

Whether or not it should be reverted is a question the resident economist would have to answer, as at least I am not too keen on what the economic impact of such a change would be.

No Empyreal Fragments for some JPs

In Scavenger’s Chasm not even one of the three chests give fragments (all 12 orbs used). Same issue with the Obsidian Sanctum JP. I’ll be checking others later if I have time…

Is this intended that some (difficult) JPs are excluded when easy ones doable in <1 min like Urmaug’s Secret have them?

Your account needs to complete 12 unique jump puzzles to get the achievement. It’s working as intended, although changing the description to “Find and complete unique jump puzzles” would be an extremely helpful change.

Churning Earth

Churning Earth + Lightning Flash = Guaranteed hits if you learn to time it.

As an elementalist main, I’d rather they keep it as is. It’s a useful blast finisher, and if they change the functionality to what you’re suggesting it’ll probably remove that. Spreading out the damage over time doesn’t help either as you don’t want to remain rooted while monsters/people tear your face open just to get max damage. Learn to time it and you’ll see it’s quite good as is.

The only change I’d suggest is that if you cancel it mid-way and you haven’t inflicted the cripple on any enemies within range that you don’t get stuck with the full recharge :/

This is apparently a common misconception. Just like kite fortunes and support tokens, these items are added in a separate loot table. They do not affect your chance at rare quality equipment drops, otherwise you wouldn’t be getting nearly as many as you have been.

On topic: As others have said, since this is will be recurring content in the future the tickets will likely remain as they are, without merch value.
