The dungeon token recipes are not discoverable, they’re rare drops from chests/bosses in the corresponding dungeon & path. Keep that in mind if you want to make them. As far as I know, most sell fairly well due to having stat combos you can’t otherwise craft (although they’re not all that desirable).

I’m a terrible economist, just figured I’d throw this out there if you didn’t already know.

People farming Southsun instead of Orr, the Penitent/Shelter’s/Jofast chain nerf (events take longer to reset), etc, etc…

I can’t fathom these things maintaining such a high price without something being done soon. I’m hoping the next living story (after Dragon Bash) will draw the crowd to a dust-heavy area :/

The Quaggan as a playable race (Discussion)

in Suggestions

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

The biggest problem with a lot of these new playable race suggestions is that most of the races that people want in the game have no home/main city, like quaggans, skritt, hylek, etc.

As someone who loves quaggans, I’d say no to them being a playable race. It’s just not practical. Same with hylek, skritt, etc. since in the personal stories they’re all labeled as lesser races. Why would a “lesser” race (species actually) hold the same standing as the current dominant ones? The race I see entering the game from an objective point of view is Tengu, since they already have a huge city/territory (Dominion of Winds) that they alone control.

Per-character condition removal priority

Could become an issue when laying down cover-conditions. For example, lay 5 stacks of confusion and then hit them with a long duration single bleed/poision/etc to keep them from being able to remove the confusion. It’s a valid tactic to be honest, and considering condition builds are still rather weak in groups this would amount to a nerf of some degree which really isn’t needed.

Once you hit level 375, you need to use recipes for rares to finish the last leg to 400, which you can buy from the appropriate crafting vendor.

"Track the Seraph" (Order of Whispers) Too Hard

in Personal Story

Posted by: ExTribble.7108

ExTribble.7108

A level 46 guardian should be able to faceroll this even pre-nerf. Is your gear up to date? Even though you’re scaled down to level 26, if your gear is still level 26 you’ll probably be weaker than someone who’s actually level 26 with level-appropriate gear due to how downscaling works. The abominations shouldn’t take out 3/4 of your health in one swing if you have gear at your level.

Buy blues off the TP (practically merch value, so it’s a few copper per full set once you resell to the merch to buy the next) and try again. There’s no reason you should be running into trouble at that high of a level.

A question about racist comments

ExTribble.7108

You should read some of the “salad” jokes on reddit. I think that’s the only reason it ever made its way into the game. It’s for comedy purposes, nothing more.

Bookah is the only arguably racist word, but even our characters in GW1 took it in stride when we were called that by Vekk (and other asurans? memory isn’t too good…).

Since this is a game, I’d have to say it’s only offensive if you let it be. In the real world, things are much more complicated.

It’s most likely done this way to encourage people to do different dungeons instead of just farming the easiest to get all your gear. The other reason everyone will point to, which is also valid, is that it promotes their sales of the fine transmutation stones.

Specific dungeons (like CoF) are already farmed due to the monetary value. If that dungeon could also provide all available stat varieties currently offered in other dungeons, we’d probably find most of the other dungeons becoming completely vacant.

@ Siigari: Changing numbers can be in error. You don’t know how it’s formatted, and they could easily have changed a number one line off and screw things up. I’ve done this numerous times myself and it’s frustrating because it takes a while to find when you’ve made hundreds of changes between your current and previous save.

Everyone and their mother is farming CoF, Fractals, and open world bosses. None of those produce anywhere close to the number of T6 mats as Orr farming does. Is this responsible for the drastic change in prices? Maybe, maybe not. Could your idea be spot on? Definitely. Without actual data it’s impossible to know for certain. Please stop stating your opinions as facts when you’re basing it on drawing speculative conclusions in regards to market behavior (just as I did with my Orr idea).

Either way the players lose.

Fully supportive if it’s account bound. Does no harm. No way if they’re resellable. I used my Abyss when it was worth only 2 gold. If I could sell it in today’s market and use a close substitute to it instead I would for the free chunk of cash.

The only problem I see is that with gem prices at where they are now (and likely to keep slowly but steadily rising), this would have to be quite cheap to be worth the investment. I think if they were to cost in the range of some consumables (35-100 gems), it would be worthwhile for those more expensive dyes. Another idea is that since they already sell unidentified dye kits for gems, it’s unlikely that they’ll cut into potential profits there unless they’re sure people will consistently use this new feature. Every time a new “desirable” item is released to the gemstore, gem prices rise simply due to overall demand. Therefore, basic things like bank slots, char slots, bag slots, etc. will always be in demand and likely purchased without spending real money. Serious drops in gem prices will rarely ever occur in my opinion. I’m no economist, so what I said could be dribble-drabble but it makes sense to me…

Elementalist, Dragon's Claw Efficiency.

in Suggestions

ExTribble.7108

I do think this change is sorely needed, especially for all those newcomers who just get
rid of their elementalist, because they keep dying when trying to fight more than one
opponent. The staff can strike multiple opponents, but it doesn’t do enough damage
at all for leveling or farming.

Newcomers who ditch an elementalist because they die a lot need to learn to play the class. It is much more difficult to pick up an elementalist than it is a warrior or guardian for example.

Daggers are a close-combat high burst damage weapon. The trade-off is that you need to be face-to-face with your enemy to pull it off. It’s simply a risk-reward balance. That’s the point.

If you’re having trouble leveling, try S/D. Quite tanky and I used it myself when I hit about level 60+. Before that I ran with a staff without any problems. Staff is still decent for farming, so I don’t see the problem there. I’m guessing you’re running D/D, which is rather difficult to use properly if you just started playing the class. The skills do not really need a buff. In good hands, an elementalist is a wrecking machine.

Seems you need to find a guild that helps out newbies. Look for one. When leveling my alts I was usually below the recommended level for zones and personal story missions and did fine in blue gear at my level or two levels below at most. Even though “the ranger necro and engineer are buged as hell”, I seem to have had no trouble leveling a ranger and engineer without any monetary or other support from other characters. People’s skill levels are different. Some struggle early on, some struggle later.

Yes, henchmen would solve your problem and make content easier. The only problem is, it prevents you from being forced to learn how to use your class effectively. If a henchman plays a support role for you, it gimps you from learning your own self-support capability to it’s fullest. If the henchman plays a damage output role, you focus on supporting him and kiting/CC-ing enemies. If he plays a balanced role, you do the same, but don’t have to be paying full attention to surviving since the NPC is your fall-back. From day one, I liked how this game doesn’t hold your hand excessively since it forces people to learn.

Bugged or not, all classes can handle themselves in general PvE quite well. The moment you said that you don’t “see it surviving” in reference to the game, I just lost all interest in this topic. Developers do respond to key issues. Henchmen aren’t one of them. It’s clear you want what you want, no matter what anyone else says. In the time being since them implementing henchmen is highly unlikely, look for a PvE oriented guild on your server that’s willing to hold your hand through some of the tougher group-oriented events and general content.

If they make it a non-PvP zone, badges of honer need to be removed from the chest.

No PvP, no badges.

This. I’m a PvP wimp myself, but I realize that to use the JP as an easy way to get badges, the risk of someone beating the snot out of you needs to exist.

Try hitting the JP during non-peak hours. Sometimes if you run into a lone camper you might be able to get by or try joining their party as someone else suggested. I usually just do a /wave and if they return, I assume it’s safe. Never been “lied” to in that sense. Generally if it’s a large group, you’re screwed no matter what you do if you’re on your own.

Ranger fix

Traited properly you can have 1500 range. That’s plenty. What do you mean you can’t hit anything below or in front of you? Distances in this game are calculated linearly as far as I can tell (not ground tracking), so you should be able to shoot past gaps and such without any problems as long as it’s within that 1500 range.

You already have a range advantage too since projectiles will continue to travel past that 1500 range, unlike most (all?) other classes. It may be “unrealistic” to you, but it needs to remain fair to everyone else.

Dungeon gears AccountBound-Soulbound on use

I completely agree. Although I’m usually one of the last people to scream that Arenanet is purposely screwing players, soulbound on acquire is definitely one of those things that makes absolutely no sense and almost intended to screw people over. If any “binding” is to be done on acquire, it should be account-bound, not soulbound.

Encentives to go to the other maps

I understood the OP’s argument, I was just giving an explanation as to why this is happening since it seems he/she missed it. The idea that the OP claims, “They have no reason to leave the low level maps after they finish story lines other than to go to dungeons” is completely false. People only go to low level areas to hit their daily bosses and then leave since the loot is trash compared to Orr/Southsun.

Just because low level areas can drop items at your level, it doesn’t mean most will. All material bags dropped in low level zones are of low level mats. It’s a huge loss compared to farming heavy bags in Orr in the same timeframe. That’s not even considering how the occasional rare that drops might be a level 50 or something, which is worthless since it can’t be salvaged for ectos. You might as well be getting green trash drops. If people truly believe that farming low-level areas is even close to being as profitable as farming high level zones, they’re delusional.

If the daily chests and/or level-appropriate drops are removed from these low level zones, they’ll become ghost towns again and people will (again) complain about the vacancy. I think they’ve actually struck a decent balance to be honest.
