For being annoying? Old decap engi has my vote here. They were annoying as hell if I forget to change the build of my bunker guardian and to take tons of stability.

Turreters are not a big deal when you play in organized team. They just deal big damage to the community in a long run. I’ll explain.

All the new PvP’ers meet them. They quickly realize how easy & effective this build is, and many of them either get too frustrated and quit PvP, or reroll to turret engi. In both cases they’re lost for the PvP community. In this way turret engies directly lower the PvP playerbase. That’s what I think.

Yeah I tried this, made a PvP guilds dedicated thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/PvP-guilds/first) and it was pretty useful till it was here. Then some genius moved it in the “looking for” hotchpotch. I submitted a ticket, trying to get the thread back here. No response. Of course. Why to bother.

Merging the “looking for” forums was one of the worst ideas. Ever.
It’s a mess. PvE guilds are so many, the “looking for a team” threads get lost. It hurts the community more than it seems.

Our roster is full and we play together every day. Still sometimes happens some of us not to be able to come online and then we need a substitution. Usually we are able to find a friend to join, but also happens to struggle to find 5th.

Mention your main class, the other classes you can play and the total amount of PvP games played. Our experience shows the best subs for us are engineers and warriors, but any other class will do if you’re good enough at it.

The rules:
- You’ll be randomly invited to join our party, If you want to play, accept. If not, decline.
- If you join you should jump on our Ts. If you can’t use Ts atm, decline.
- If we’re playing with you and some of our main members appear online you should leave the party.
- You won’t get invite for the team, except if it turns out we play with you more than with some of our main members.

Take this as an opportunity to find more PvP friends.

For me, this thread is quiet useful for new players to know the history of guild wars 2 and show their respect to these meta creator. At the same time, it gives new players more motivation to improve themselves by competing in the game when they saw these players.

I know what are you talking about! Still remember my first days as DPS guardian in hot join, when I was owning thieves before I even know the name of the class. For me they were the guys that put a house on their head when they’re about to die. I never tried to spot them, because with all honest I was thinking they’re teleporting back to their base this way. I don’t know. For a first time in my life I see people to be ashamed to be on leaderboards. They even make threads to say hey, sorry, I didn’t mean to farm, I just love this game.

Being high on this leader board is like screaming “See meee, I’m a nolifeeer!” And tbh more of the nolifers would prefer to cover this fact. Come on, give them some anonymity.

Guys, I really can’t understand why you bother with complicated algorithms when you want to reward most the activity. With the same success you can just make the leaderboards with the total amount of the games played. Then it’ll be the same grind fest like now, and even a lil bit more informative about the skill of the players, right?

You’re just wrong. Thieves are far away from immortal, actually after many team fights when my teammates leave the point, I find a thief in downstate somewhere around.

Yes, the thieves are able to defeat almost any zerker class in 1v1 and this is one of their main roles in PvP. I don’t know what are these “anti thief” necros and warriors. If you want to play high DPS class and to counter thieves, just play DPS guardian.

I like the changes. Before I was avoiding to use lightning flash, becasue I was failing to land it properly too often. Now it works fine for me, and – what is best – if I land it lame, it’s not going on cooldown, so I can try again.

It’s funny how all these threads about the “toxic community” made me afraid to play solo. Then the circumstances forced me to play unranked solo, since I started to learn a new class and I was expecting to be bullied, insulted, shouted at and whatever.

Guess. Nothing like this. 2 weeks solo playing, most of the people are calm and friendly. No one has said anything bad, no one has ragequit even if we losing bad, nothing. Why did you scare me so much, people?

Good topic i agree with OP, basically there is no reason to go in unranked/ranked now for veteran players, solo or with a team.

My priorities

1. Leaderboard improvement. How it is now, it’s useless 100%. The old leaderboard in comparison was really better because it showed better the player skill level (but it had other issues). It needs a rework to show better progression in skill and not only in time grinding.

2. Rewards. Always the same problem. I think Seasons are the way to go but rewards need to be better than Test Season. We did a lot of examples in old topic.

3. Stuck in the Mist while queing. Another big issue that needs to be addressed.

4. Different roster size against each other. Another big issue that has important extremes, like soloqueue vs full preamde. I hope more players with HoT can invite Anet to use hard filters to match compatible rostersize how we can suggested in other topics.

Basically this, we don’t forget a too slow balance meta changes and pls split queues with Stronghold and other gamemodes with HoT.

I tend to agree with him, LB’s would be my 1st priority too.

From my point of view, for competitive players it’s very important to see how they improve, recorded in objective numbers. In LOL you can see how you improve by climbing up the leagues, here you see nothing to show if you improve or grind the same level forever. You rely on your feelings and what your friends say, which is pretty much subjective.

Rewards are important of course, but they might be a motive for players on higher level. For the beginners and less experienced players, who are still far away from competing in tourneys, the most important thing is to see if and how fast they become better comparing to the others around their level. That’s why I think LBs are very important, and even would suggest profession LBs, when you can see your place among the other PvPers of your class.

I have a simple suggestion, that might give a new spark to the player base. Make different titles for certain amount of won tourney games, by class. For example, something like this:

Champion Paragon – for won 150 tourney games (what we have now). Then
Ace Paragon – for won 300 tourney games
World Beater Paragon – for 500
Legendary Paragon – for 1000
Sublime Paragon – for 5000
Apocalyptic Paragon (yes my knowledge of English Synonyms depleted) – for 10 000

The same with every other profession.

My guild is huge on WvW. We field anywhere from 20 to 50 guild members a night in WvW. However, only about 5 of my guildies even venture in conquest. I decided to figure out, why? The response from everyone was pretty uniform. The PvP community is too toxic! I heard story after story of how they just didn’t enjoy spending the whole match being verbally abused. People told me stories of how they loved PvP, but as they did more matches, they began queuing into upper tier players that would belittle them, trash talk them, and say some of the rudest things imaginable.

Sorry, I just can’t miss this. There is another point of view, just to let you know. I don’t go WvW exactly because of the community.

When I chose a server I didn’t know it’s a #1 WvW server I didn’t know much about the game at all. But since I’ve always been a PvP orientated player, one of the first things I did was to learn more about WvW, to register on the community server site and to say hey.

You can’t imagine the hostility I faced there, it turned out I have joined this server because I want to “jump on the bangwagon” (bandwagon? Something like this, can’t remember), like all the other noobs who fill up their heroic server, after they had fought day and night and had shed their blood in epic battles to win this rank for the server.

New players were trash talked by veterans, whenever they dared to share opinion. The veterans biting each other trying to prove who’s better commander and who’s useless kitten. Drama everywhere. Elitist GvG guilds, who carefully pick their members by trials. It’s okay of course. But just mention you’re PvPer and you’ll never be allowed to trials. “We’re sorry, you don’t have the skills we need”.

I was disgusted and just stopped going WvW. So please, don’t compare the communities in this way. In PvP I never faced such level of elitism. With my first post here I was warm welcomed and was given a bunch of good advices. It’s common thing top players to join new and inexperienced teams to help them out. And this “elitists” (omg nub team omg go back to PvE) you meet in game are mainly bad players who trying to divert attention of the fact how bad they are by blaming someone else. Nothing really that toxic.

James and kdaddy, thank you for your posts, guys. As I said I exaggerated a bit (well maybe a lot). But I really felt somehow misled about my expectation about my class.

Also I have a teammate who always tells me exactly the same like you and Brandon, play what you want and what you enjoy and do your best to improve. Ignore meta. But I can’t say if he tells me this because he’s my friend and therefore cares, or because he really thinks it. So it was important for me to read opinions of people who don’t know me, so should be more objective.

Slightly more squish than usual, but HUGE retal uptime for allies, nice boon duration, stability and extra condi clears. An easy 20 sec AoE retal = each enemy spell is gonna hurt em like hell. It can also 1v1 pretty well as well against certain classes like LB rangers and thieves if it ever comes down to it. Haven’t tried it in too many organized 5v5s or tourneys or anything like that, but in the many normal ranked games I played with it, it seemed to do really well

After 1 and a half years of playing, dedicated to my Guardian now with tears in my eyes I’m telling my farewells to my favorite profession.

When I started to play this game I had no idea I can have more than 1 class and I chose very carefully. Never have regretted about my choice and never stopped to love my class. After 3K + PvP games, never got bored and never wanted to change my main. I don’t want to do it now too. But I have to.

Nobody needs a Guardian anymore. My class is useless weight for my team and I have to change it. Anet gave me promises that couldn’t keep. They promised me to be the Deffender for my team, The Catcher in the Rye. Then they gave to other classes more team support, leaving my class forgotten in the corner.

Oh Baltazar, hear my mourning and feel my pain till I say goodbye to my Guardian! Help my team to Hold the Line without me! Give me the hope some day I’ll be back to Stand my Ground!

So far we have:

Since our thief injured his hand and atm he can play with 1 hand only, he temporarily re-rolled to warrior. Now he’s known as one of the best warriors around.

In the meantime our mesmer burnt out, so now we need:
1 mesmer
1 celestial engi/ ele

I want to make it clear: we don’t need people who’ll play with us from time to time, or 2-3 games daily. We already have enough of them, we always run with full team.

We are looking for people who play every day and love PvP. Building a team requires patience and hard work. If you don’t understand this, save your and our time. We need people with calm character and good communication skills. That’s what we need.

What we don’t need:
- “top-players”, thank you.
- people who’ll join Ts, but won’t say even one word all match. And every time we have a look at the mini-map they’re lonely, but heroically dying at far.
- people who will quit or take a break after 2-3 loses in a row.

We play every day around 7-12 GMT.
