ReVo’s play games for the fun and the pleasure of getting to know each other and use the game for it’s intended purpose – to escape from RL stress and strains.

Being a ReVo is about the fun, the achievement and the respect for each other, rules aren’t about forcing you to comply (except the ones that are), they are about helping us all get the best out of being a ReVo. It’s a special thing being a ReVo and we all like to feel special.

If it’s too hard, just proclaim amnesty for all dishonored last 2 days, I’m sure a big percent of the cases are because of the problems with this map.

This happened to my team last night too. First we were kicked from a PvP match in the Temple, but we managed to rejoin by going to Lion’s Arch. Next game was on a different map and it was okay. But then we got the Temple again and we got kicked again. Two of us succeed to get back, but 3 couldn’t. The other team had 3 players who were back.

We were wondering if we’ll be dishonored if this happens again, but decided to take the risk. We had no problem in next few games, but no one of them was in the Temple. I keep thinking the problem was in the map. Submitted a support ticket, that’s all I could do.

Hey guys. I’m Eyia, I’m a Guardian and I desperately want to improve in PvP. Any tips, advices and comments are welcome.

A bit about me: started to play GW2 on July last year, found PvP on September. Guardian is my first character, my main and my love. Actually now I have 2 guardians – a norn and asura, because I got tired changing my build every time I need to switch from DPS to bunker and back.

I’m rank 36 in PvP right now. I do love to play a bunker and I have tried all the builds I’ve found around (including 2 my own builds which turned out to be a disaster) and all the weapons. Curently I’m playing this build:

and I feel comfortable with it. I found it in a bunker guide posted in a player’s signature. Tell me what do you think about it.

I have read all the guides posted here and everywhere else, I have watched all the vids I found on youtube, many times. Still I feel I’m far far away from being a decent bunker and I really want to be one. Please help me to improve.

My main problems:
1. Conditions. They melting my HP too fast and I die for seconds. Of course, I try to avoid them and move closer to the edge of the point, but sometimes the red circles cover all the point and even around and I can do nothing, because I can’t leave my point.
2. Some of the classes. I found out I can last forever in 1v1 against warriors, rangers, thieves, mesmers and eles. Well, if they’re good enough I just can last long enough till my team come. But MM necros and engies kill me pretty fast and I can’t do anything. If one of this classes come to my point with another enemy player I die for less than 10 secs. It’s frustrating.
3. I do almost no damage and I feel I’m not very useful in team fights. Of course, I heal my teammates whenever I can, stack might, and they rely on me to res them when downed but I think if I can do a bit more damage I’ll be more in use. That’s why if I’m attacked on a point and I’m alone I don’t even bother to attack, just run around in a circle, dodge when need and heal.
4. I love Tome of courage and I’d prefer to use it, but it has too long casting time and sometimes I got interrupted, so Idk
5. I feel somehow helpless. I’ve read many times on forums, that a good bunker can carry a team. I can’t imagine how it’s possible. I feel more like my performance depends on my teammates, not on me. What you think?

What do you mean “troll”?

Right now I had 4 Skyhams in a row. Last 7 games were – 2 Skyhams, something else (can’t remember what, my head is killing me atm), 4 Skyhams.

I can’t stand this map with all honest, but I play it and I don’t mind if it’s 1 of 10 for example. But 6-7 of 10? Come on! And I never never win on Skyhammer. Doesn’t matter what I play and what I do I always lose.

Today I played 15 soloQ games, won 2 lost 13, half of them Skyhammer and I’m about to brake my laptop in the wall. And I’m a very very patient person. Why you hate me so much Anet?

I’m a team player and I like how much team support my guardian can give. I like to know how much the people in my team rely on me and I like to hear they call me to join faster the teamfight, or “give me stability to stomp” or “rez pls” or “heal me”. And I love how I can turn the table when my team is losing a teamfight, using 1 skill only. Yeah, tome of courage <3

Only 4 months since I created my “beginner’s thread” on this forum and I know exactly how you feel

For these 4 months nothing has changed too much. I still enjoy PvP most of any other aspect of the game and I still feel like a noob. I realize how much I have improved only if I jump in hot join for some reason (if I have connection problems for example) or if I go to WvW and jump on so called “roamers” by accident. But the truth is I totally lost interest in WvW.

I hope you’ll stick with PvP in spite of the problems you might face here. Probably you’ll meet trolls who whisper you insults, bad players who’ll blame you for their lost, good players with bad attitude (go back to PvE noob), sometimes you’ll feel lost in the leaderboards, sometimes you’ll feel like you’re not improving at all, and probably few times you’ll decide to quit PvP for good. But after all you’ll have great times.

I wish I could give you some good advice but I’ve never been in this MMR hell, no idea how I’ve missed it. Of course I have some bad games with clueless players in the team and of course sometimes happens they to be 2-3 in a row but it’s an exception, not a rule.

What I do when I have a chain of lost games is to switch the class. I know there is absolutely no logic, but it always works for me. So if I lose 3 games in a row with my guardian, I switch to necro and somehow start to win. Then when start to lose again, switch to warrior. When my warrior starts to lose games – back to guardian. That’s how even if you lose games it gives you some variety and prevents you from doing the same mistakes again and again only because you’re losing your temper.

Come on, don’t give up on PvP, the community needs more players like you

SoloQ. I’m bunkering in the Clocktower with my guardian when an asura warrior from my team appears. 5-6 seconds later 3 of the other team attack us, I’m trying to defend the point and the warrior is not fighting at all. He’s running in a circle into the point screaming “don’t allow them to catch me, don’t allow them to kill me…”. I was about to die from laughter.

Choose the first option in the top left corner: “play now”. Then you can choose a team to join or if the game is in the middle you can only watch and wait till it ends and then to join when a new one starts. GL

It happens like so… You start a match and meet said player, let’s say guardian, you fight, down him, no one else is around. Go in for the stomp and boom, instantly up with full hp…

It’s happened more times than I can count just like the players teleport hacking as they continue to teleport even in down states, no not thieves. Or even more occurring the random insta down followed by an insta stomp performed on you vs said player. That’s with me having zero lag and a solid connection.

I can confirm this happens very often recently. I thought I’m missing something and was asking my teammates how the other team can stomp us so fast when it usually takes about 5 seconds, but looks like nobody knows.

A bit off topic, but I want to complain. I’ve never been AFK during a match, but I regularly receive these warning messages that I’ll be kicked if I don’t play actively. Always before the game has even started, probably just because I don’t move while waiting the game to start. It’s not that important, I can run around if needed.

The problem is I recieve them also during the game if I play bunker. If my point is safe I usually stay at 1 position which allows me to watch all the paths coming to my point and I also watch the map and the state of my teammates so i don’t need and don’t want to move.

When I receive this message I move a bit before go back to my position, but it’s still annoying and a bit scaring. I’m always like what if someday they just kick me without warning? Or what if someday I just miss/ ignore the message, because it looks pretty much like lets say “Scarlet minions are attacking your cellar”?

Yamiga, thank you for the detailed answer. I read also the thread in your signature. Now I can understand why you feel like this and it really sounds painful. I hope Anet will try to find some solution, they haven’t made the change to torture a group of players, they only wanted to do something good for PvPers.

I have to confess, I just misunderstood the point of this thread. I thought these guys are some kind of PvP only achievement hunters and was so confused and I wondered why I’ve never seen them in this forum before. But I swear I’ve never heard about this way of playing a game. And there is even a special name “completionist?”.

Now I’m very curious, where exactly is the fun for you guys? What makes you happy – the feeling when you finish all the achievements for the day, or competing on the leaderboards? How do you feel if you can’t complete the daily? Is it worse if you have it half done than not started at all?

I want to make it clear, I’m not trolling, not mocking, not being sarcastic. All I want is to understand your point of view.

Oh and what is the average percent of the people with this playstyle?

This is my very own and absolutely honest opinion about this achievement thingy: I can’t care less.

Never cared about achievements, they just pop up sometimes on my screen and I’m always surprised. Yay, another achievement!

Never cared about skins. They don’t give me advantage, so it doesn’t matter for me if I’ll kill somebody with a simple steel sword or my sword will blink in pink and spread feathers and parfume while I’m killing.

Never cared about money, because I can have everything I need in PvP for free.

So I really can’t understand why a PvP player will care about achievments. Anyone want to explain me?

Now, I’m probably not a typical PvP player. Probably the typical PvP player plays for achievements, skins and money. My bad. I play only for fun, for the laugh we have on Ts even when our team is losing bad and for this incredible satisfying feeling when you see the shield with crossed swords at the end of the game and the voice announcing: Your Team Is Victorious! For me nothing can be compared with this feeling.

Hey Jason, and welcome to GW2! This is really the game with the most friendly community i’ve ever seen in MMO. The reason no one has answered your question yet is you have posted in a wrong section of the forum. This section is for the personal story only. If you have more questions better try in “Players helping players”.

Now, about what’s useful for a new player and can be bought with gems: first, I’d suggest you to buy gathering equipment as quickly as possible. Harvesting Sickles, Logging Axes, and Mining Picks are available from most NPC merchants and will allow you to gather valuable crafting materials and earn experience from the world around you. But if you buy them from a merchant you have to do it constantly because you can have equiped only 250 at a time and you should watch your level, because there are higher types for higher levels. If you buy them with gems you can use them unlimited times and just forget about buying new again and again.

Another useful thing is Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic, so you won’t need to buy salvage kits from the merchants every time you want to salvage something.

You can also buy XP boosters if you want to level up faster.

And of course, you can just excange some of your gems for gold, so you can buy for your asura the best armor and weapons for your level from the Trading Post.

I have noticed the worst players trash talk most. And for some reason their sentences always start with “OMG”

I explain this for myself like this: if they blame someone else for the loss of the team, then nobody will notice they’re bad players. So they just pick up a victim, usually a necro or thief and start to harass them. However, what makes me more mad is the silent approval of the others. If someone start to harass a teammate please tell him to kitten. Don’t be silent and grateful he hasn’t picked you.

So, if I assume that somebody started their PvP experience and is obviously not well rounded in it…would you expect him to win? With any profession? Guess not. I am PvP lvl 10 and get usually teamed up (solo) with people on in their 40s+ whom are just elitists spamming kitten on chat when something doesnt end up well. My win-lose percentage is 50% and I do stupid stuff like “running into a ranger that sets up his defense on a point I cant win over” or perhaps asking myself “what does it mean when he says go far” …I guess I should stop playing?

So yesterday we had some tPvP with our guild, and we getting a match against a team made by 3 warriors, a mesmer and an engi. We are 2 guardians, a thief, a mesmer and a necro. I’m like “we are screwed up guys”.

The match starts, me and the other girl in the team going to the keep. She’s guardian, I’m necro. We are the most inexperienced in the team and I’m not in my common role, because we already have 2 guardians.

In the next second I see 3 huge norn warriors with their big hammers coming for our keep and I start to scream on Ts for help. The thief says “hold on I’m coming”. I’m like paniiiic “It’s gonna hurt, hurry up hurry up… No wait.” Then I start to count: “One dead warrior. Two dead warriors. The last one is running away.” The thief: “got him”.

One minute later they three are back. This time I don’t even bother to shout for help. We wipe the floor with them, me with my pretty new necro and she with her bunker build guardian. So much fun!

Okay, if you’re not familiar with warrior in PvP why you play it? All you do is to give bad name to warriors, like a braindead facerolling noskill profession. An experienced warrior would kill us both for seconds I’m sure. And we killed all 3 of them! 3 kitten . Srsly…

Anyway, it’s one of the reasons I love PvP so much. You never know what to expect.

I do love playing a bunker guardian, but at the end of the game I always have least points. Now is this fair? When I play SoloQ the others probably think I’m useless. Even if I don’t lose my point for a second, I’m the worst player in the team. It’s just not fair. I even was called “an idiot” by a warrior who was losing all his fights. “Go mid idiot!”. Well I went mid and said nothing but it hurts. I don’t know what I want, probably only a hug. And to say what my pain is. I’m a bunker and I think I’m not that bad, why I always have least points and the others call me idiot?

Wintel, reading your post I assume you’re either warrior or guardian. I wanted to figure out how to deal with a mesmer on my guardian so I just made one a week ago, to understand the class mechanics. The problem is after I started to level him up, I started to love the class too much. Now most likely I’ll be one of these nasty mesmers you’re talking about.

I had the same experience in hotjoin when I started to play and I play a Guardian. So it’s not your profession or your skills that make people to whisper you insults, it’s just their short temper and their lack of selfcontrol. The problem is in them, not in you.

Also be sure they make mistakes too, but they will never blame themselves, they will blame you, their “noob team”, the matchmaking, arenanet, the international situation, but will never look for mistakes in themselves. These people are complete losers and don’t deserve your attention.

Because of this kind of attitude many people just give up on PvP and never go again – half of them, because they can’t stand to be insulted in a game they play for fun, and half because they start to believe these idiots and to think they are really bad and better go to PvE.

So don’t let them to hurt you, play your game, enjoy your class, it might be OP now but it won’t be forever. And be sure this will stop at some point. I’m not sure why, but after I hit rank 15 and moved to SoloQ no one has ever insulted me anymore.
