I’ve seen mention of a vendor in world chat but no details.

Returning player, what's a good NA server?

Way to be pushing your guild everywhere, Prophet. >.>

Crystal Desert is a good server, friendly people, it’s formerly one of the tops, but it’s fallen by the wayside and could use some loyal love again.

Is it all WvW and no more PvE ? Alone :(

Felkes.2759

I’m on Crystal Desert too, friend, and I play a lot of alts so I feel you when you talk about all of the starting areas( heck, even the high level areas) being empty. It’s all down to either WvW or the mega-guilds running boss events.

We were in the top 10 for months after release but something happened and everyone seems to have just jumped ship. Despite our supposed “high population” server, the world is a ghost town.

I have Crystal Desert pride so I’m not leaving my server. My guild is here, my friends are here, I started here and by god I’m staying here. I don’t think it’s entirely a problem with server population (though I would like to see ANet combine some servers to repopulate things again, and maybe force people to take turns in WvW since that’s where so many people spend all their time).

Honestly, I’ve adopted the Ghandi policy. “Be the change you want to see in the world”. Be a trendsetter, map chat, invite and involve people in play again rather than just running with the flow of the lemmings in the mega-guilds.

Dye Changes Feedback/Questions

Felkes.2759

Anyone remember back at launch when people pointed at that this system is what they promised us dyes would be in the game? Way to go implementing it now guys. Now that so many of us have used dyes for specific characters all this time.
I can’t say I’m happy about unidentified dyes no longer being a drop either. It was hard enough to get the 250 for bifrost, now they’re only going to be event drops and mystic forge? Guess I can say goodbye to that legendary. -_-

Map Completion Tips

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

Hey all, I’ve gotten to the point where I have everything completed on every map…with the exception of WvW. Unfortunately this stupidly hostile area is required for 100% map completion. I was hoping that running close enough to PoIs in forts and such would activate them but this doesn’t seem to work. So does anyone have any tips or suggestions for how someone can get WvW map completion or is this just a lost cause at this point?

Before anyone says it, suggesting I move to a server controlling WvW is not helpful. I’m not shelling out money to change my home sever, and even if I could I wouldn’t want to, that kind of move is just a lame cop out.

Dye/Armor ID Thread

Felkes.2759

We all have these moments when we see players in game with a set of armor, or colour of armor, so I figured why not have a thread here for asking “hey, what is this?”

Firstly, I’ve seen a couple players with this now, and I want to know what is this amazing set? It has a slight heat shimmer to the cloth and a glow to it. What is this? I don’t recognize the armor and I’ve never seen a dye that really glows.

As far as I know it’s not the Flame armor skins from the cash shop, does anyone know what this is?

Honestly I’ve been getting most of mine from PvP. Given that SoloQ gives 20 bags and TeamQ gives 40 on a win. Let’s just say I have enough blades for all 14 of my alts and then some right now. Only thing holding me back is the other mats and expenses. ;p

What kind of PvP is this now? I’ve done pvp before but never gotten anything other than glory and pvp equipment as loot.

I’d like the game to bring in more flavor from franchises like “the Sims” and “Farmville”.

With this single sentence you made everything else in your post invalid. To even suggest Guild Wars be in any way, shape, or form like Farmville is pure blasphemy.

It’s easy enough to solo the original GW. They let you recruit npc party members if you don’t want to party with actual players. This gets hard in later game though cause the AI leaves much to be desired and can’t really compare to real human ability to predict and play the game.

But it is soloable, and definitely has a great story. I would highly recommend buying it. If nothing else you’ll be informed and able to get references this game makes to the past.

Patch made things unbalanced

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

Before the patch the event line with the Knights, onto the holo was challenging, but at least do-able. Since the 3/6 patch though it seems not once has my server gotten past even the Knights. Beating them is entirely dependent on having the maximum people at each location and everyone having as high a dps build as possible. It’s become a one way to win situation, which is fun for no one.

It also kills the event for people who are coming into it late since it’s now darn well near impossible to progress into the Breachmaker since all of the knights never go down.

Ranting aside this event needs to be re-balanced, and this could be done a couple of ways. Simply extending the timer would go a long way to making these bosses beatable again. You could also alter the scaling of the knights to more normal sized groups (usually around 30 tops at each one (on Crystal Desert anyway)) stand a chance, rather than expecting each knight to have it’s maximum count. Or upping/ removing the attacker limit to allow groups to zerg again would be acceptable. As it is now, the knights are an hourly roadblock and a waste of time.

Living Story Has Killed the Game for me

in Living World

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

Exactly what the OP said. I’ve been playing since launch as well and I felt the first year or so went fantastically. Living story came about every couple of months but for the most part it was laid back and you could take your time and actually have fun. For the past few months now it’s like ANets been shooting Living Stories out at a rapid fire setting and for increasingly short periods of time.

It’s not fun anymore!

To log in and instantly feel like you need to participate in the living story or miss out forever on the loot, achievements, special items, and story of it, is total nonsense and incredibly frustrating. Especially for those of us who actually have lives we need to take care of outside of Guild Wars, or have low level characters we want to take a break to that can’t participate in these constantly lvl 80 events.

The developers seriously need to hit the brakes with the living story. Don’t stop it entirely because it does keep things fun and dynamic, but seriously dial down the pace and the pressure put into completing these things so people can still enjoy the rest of the game too.

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

Personally I want these romantic relationships to be left out all together. The most you should get of it is the whole “aww, Logan loves Queen Jenna” but you never actually have to watch them indulge. All of that is kept behind the scenes.

When we saw the *SPOILER*kiss between Marjory and Kassamerr*/SPOILER* I let out an audible eew. I would have done the same thing if it had been any couple, kitten or hetero. That kind of stuff should be kept between the characters. This isn’t a romance game, and I don’t want to see it take the crappy action movie route where romances are thrown in just because sex sells. =/

Guild Alliances - Great for Small Guilds

in Suggestions

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

I’m a leader of a small guild, and I support the idea of guild alliances, but I think no one really responded to this thread because guild alliances exist already. They’re just “unofficial” because all alliance and collaboration is done within the guilds and on other sites. Small guilds seek each other out in and out of game, and collaborate their efforts on their own. There’s no system for them in game, and their doesn’t really need to be.
I’ll grant you, it would be nice if you could form a sort of group guild chat, where you can talk within, and see the chat from, multiple guilds at once. But really that’s about it.

Revisiting Past Temporary Content

in Suggestions

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

I support this a million times over. I’m a more casual player, and it seems the pace of living story events has been coming out more and more quickly, and with balancing my job, my house chores, and taking care of my mate, I simply don’t have the time I want to devote to Guild Wars 2. And being a total completionist, to see these blank achievements sitting in my living story categories is driving me up the wall. There needs to be a way to revisit past temporary content.

I suspect things like Halloween, Christmas, and the Dragon Festival will be annual staples like they were in the original Guild Wars, but for events like Southsun Cove, Flame & Frost, and others like that, I think there needs to be some kind of way to replay them both for old players who either missed it or simply didn’t have time to complete it all, and for new players who never even had the chance.

armor from kasmeer meade for medium pls!

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

YES! I’m with the OP on this one. Wide heels are no problem for adventureres, I go walking (on dirt paths and in unpathed forests) all the time in a 3-5 cm wide heel shoe, and I have no problems.

The medium armor sets desperately need more variety. You look through light and there’s such a diversity, from flowing skirts, short skirts, to pants and beyond. Even heavy armor has more variety. Chain paints, skirts, even fricking armored loincloths for the t3 norn cultural (female), but all medium gets, with the exception of t3 human cultural is coats. Medium to long overcoats, and from the back, they really all look pretty much the same.

I would go crazy happy ballistic if something like Kasmeer’s armor were to be let out, or even if there were more style to the medium armors. Just more variety is all I’m really asking for here. (while also supporting the OPs request ^^)

Waypoint Cost is too expensive

in Suggestions

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

I understand there should be a cost for waypoints to teleport but it seems an awful lot for how much I earn. Also, if you die not only must you pay repairs but pay to rez also? I think they should make it free to rez at nearest waypoint and reduce the cost of teleporting a little bit

I like the idea. Bill us for any other point, but the waypoint that’s closest should be free.

I’m with Dhar and Ehoreth. This is a good idea.
I think waypoint costs are too expensive at high levels, especially when you don’t really earn much unless you play the trading post. Making the closest waypoint free would be a nice compromise to not totally eliminate waypoint costs, but lighten the ridiculously high prices of teleporting.

It’s not just Zojja either. I noticed that with any npc that wears headgear if you go into a dialogue cutscene thing with them, the headgear is gone. It’s kind of funny to see a couple of bald humans chatting it up at first, but it does get annoying after a while, and Zojja just looks strange without her signature helmet.

Mounts [Merged]

Felkes.2759

I loved guild wars 1 and played it for around five years and do not see any problem with mounts. A. Lots of video game franchises have lacked certain animals up until a certain point. For instance The Elder Scrolls. Its not lore breaking. B. Way-points are lackluster and boring. C. Mounts would allow you to see the world and make it to dynamic events faster. D. Just because something is not needed does not mean it shouldn’t be added I don’t know anyone here who “Needs” to play GW2.

I also succeed to the point this is not pressing matter. But it would be nice to have. So maybe they could work on it down the road. If they do implement it I have some Ideas that could help with different issues. In order of importance.

1. Mounts can not be summoned in major cities.
2. No flying mounts. Unless you have special areas for Arial game-play which could be fun.
3. Mounts freak out when you pull aggro from enemies forcing you to dismount. Maybe even throwing you off if you take to long. Unless you introduce combat mounts which will always charge trowed enemies that you have aggro on if you attempt to flee.
4. Mounts only give around a 33-50 speed boost. No need to make them too fast.
5. No over-sized or gaudy mounts. Just horses and other animals that make sense in GW Lore like Dolyaks.
6. Mounts run up from behind the player when summoned and run off-screen when dismissed. (I just thought that was cool but its really not necessary)

There are a lot of great ideas in this post. There were mounted enemies in GW1, it’s silly that players aren’t be able to sit on a critter and make it carry them around 200 years later. What, do the playable races just fail so bad in that particular area of animal domestication? Please.

I especially agree with point B that Dragonhero made. Way-points are lackluster and boring

Felkes.2759

Light of Iksani’s always been a small guild, but now with the cooperative focused world of GW2 we’re looking to grow our ranks.

Because it’s easy to read, here’s a rundown of important info about us.

Home World: Crystal Desert
Focus: Roleplay and game immersion. Beyond that, Pv[anything] is welcomed.

Light of Iksani is a guild meant for people who want to loose themselves in their characters and the world of Tyria. So a small amount of roleplaying is expected from it’s members. Our biggest rule is no meta-gaming (E.g. talking about system mechanics, or stats) in guild chat.
Other than that we’re very friendly and laid back. We welcome pretty much all styles of playing and eventually want to be able to participate as a guild in every kind of event PvP, PvE, WvW, and anything else ArenaNet can throw at us.

We encourage you to visit our website for more information, and, once you’ve applied, make use of the forums to plan or keep up with guild events.

You can contact the following members in game if you’d like an invite to join:
Example format: main character’s name (username)
Kyaz Snowpaw (Felkes.2759)
Alexander Mythais (Civico.5820)
Dio Raziel (Dioxicity.4196
Wynter Lenblade (Arashi.5730)

Quick Notes: The goal for [LoI] is to play to the game’s already fantastic immersion as much as possible. So at least mild roleplaying of one’s character is expected of members. The occasional out of character talk is accepted, but we discourage meta-gaming in guild chat.

Politics…makes brain hurt. It may make a neat expansion, but I don’t see myself (or probably a lot of people) going beyond having a guild hall purely for appearance of status and aesthetics.

It sounds dangerously close to a political version of territory battles in Perfect World though, and the winners will almost always be the guilds with the highest member count. So unless some kind of balancing can be done on that end, my support stops on guild halls. :P

Way point costs get absurd in high levels, and travel distances become almost unbearably long. GW2 needs some kind of mounts. Vistas are wonderful, but they don’t let you take in the beautiful scenery the way that riding a mount through the countryside would.

I’d rather pay one big sum for a mount, which I can then ride around Tyria, still enjoying the scenery and exploring in a quicker manner than I could on foot, than pay ridiculous sums to jump to a waypoint, because I’m short on time, and or have other reasons I can’t run there (also, running around Tyria takes forever, it’s an impressively big world) and miss out on everything in between.

Dyes - Please make them account bound.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Felkes.2759

Felkes.2759

With around 400 colours of dye, and the (from what I’ve experienced) abysmal drop rate of the unidentified dyes, AND the chance of getting duplicates, dyes need to be account bound. It’s a royal pain in thekitten since I have 3 main characters I play, to have to decide who gets what dye, and like MilitiaMasterV, I tend to level multiple characters evenly instead of focusing on just one, so this character bound dye system is irritating as hell. If there were maybe half the number of colours, and duplicates weren’t a factor, I wouldn’t complain.

But there are 400 dyes! Duplicates are a factor, and the more you collect the more this becomes a problem, it’s just shameless greed that Anet is keeping dyes account bound, so that people have to shell out cash if they ever want to have full dye sets for more than one character.

Magic find obsession needs to be addressed

Felkes.2759

There’s a very simple solution to this. If people are detrimental to the party because they won’t wear appropriate gear for the situation, kick ’em.

They can have a magic find bonanza on their own time. It’s not a system problem, it’s a personal problem. Parties just need to remedy the weakest link either by teaching them (if they are new, or don’t know stuff) and helping them improve, or if they’re intentionally being a dead weight then kick them from the party.
