What if he had full zerker? There is only a 180 armor difference between thief and warrior…
Its balanced, because glass cannons are suppost to kill glass cannons, and you hit another glass cannot with a damage increase on him.

So you are comparing an adrenaline skill that snares you on the floor and can be avoided very easy with a skill that can 1hit kill you from stealth…

This is honestly the dumbest suggestion I have ever heard. The reason 100b roots a warrior is because otherwise the skill would be way way too strong.
L2P a warrior using a weapon that takes skill and then you will see why greatsword is balanced just the way it is.

OP: Getting your Thief to 80 is definitely worth it and is a lot of fun. You won’t be too useful in zergs compared to any other class but roaming and small skirmishes are our strong points.
For your build, go valkyrie armour and zerker weapons/trinkets with 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/30/30/10/0 with Hidden Killer etc and S/D + SB or D/D + SB and you’ll have the time of your life.

you probably were hit by either the phantasmal rogue, or a roamer build BS thief. i have that build on my thief and with food buff i crit even heavy armorers for 15k with backstab crits

I don’t think they need to nerf thief damage but they should increase the resource cost of some of their more powerful abilities like Heartseeker and Backstab.
That wont change the matter that they can one hit kill you so easy, they are just going to do that more slowly.
They can’t one hit kill me.
And a larger resource cost will change the dynamic of the fight and force them to rethink how they manage their burst.

Try having a thief stealth just before the stomp. I mostly play mesmer these days which require a target to use any of their skills..your as good as gone. Not to mention from the mesmer perspective after a good drawn duel against a guardian, finally when they downed me they only had a skant 3-4 mm of red left to their health bar. I managed to get 9 stacks of confusion on them, and they still used whirling wrath with total ambivalence. The 9 stacks at best only chewed an additional millimeter of their health. If condition confused state is meant to attack and deterant at best from opponents wanting to use skills, and at worst is meant to represent a dice roll of damage received vs damage given, then it comes pretty short from that envisioned conception.
In all honesty, I’d be a bigger fan of when someone is down, they have a limited second health bar in which, IF there is team mate in close proximity they can rez them, or if your previous opponent is felled while in the down state you get the rally. In other words,..get rid of down state skills completely and have them only apply in PvE.
I have a mesmer too, and i managed to survive a lot more in situations than my warrior, there is no argument in that, some classes have better downed states, we are not asking to nerf them, we are asking to make downed states of clearly underpowered classes like the warrior some help.
Yes warrior downed state sucks bad, really bad, the only semi usefull thing its the number 3.

My suggestion is that Armor thicknes MATTERS, and weapon size MATTERS too, there is really no point in having a character in havy armor if that does not reduce the damage of lets say, a knife at all, you can be wearing light armor and recieve almost the same damage?, that is just unfair and has no coherence at all, i dont want armor just to be cosmetic i want it to be EFFECTIVE.
Same with weapons, how is it possible, that a butter knife does more damage than my 2 handed sword?, how?, IT CANT BE, again, this is not coherent.
Seriouslly you do this or i will think that you balanced the game around thief class and the ones that only uses light armor, take for example, World of Warcraft, i know thakittens a different game but in the same time its an MMORPG and they have some things in common, but in that game, armor mattes, heavy weapons have way more damage, i played a rougue in that game and i didnt find that mechanic unfair, i was realistic, heavy armor its suppoused to protect the wearer more than my leather coat, heavy weapons are suppoused to hit harder than my 2 daggers, it is plain simple.

Agree, heavy armor should have way more defense, like you said its like its only cosmetic, and heavy weapons should hit harder than a butter knife…. my autoattack with a dagger is more dangerous than my auto attack with my sword?, its ridiculous…
And let me say this, who would benefit from this mechanics?, what classes?, the ones that dont use heavy armor and not use heavy weapons, so basically they kitten heavy armor classes in order to buff the other ones, i will put this on the suggestions because this is really bad.
Good, there is no point in be a weapon master if you cant do that, other classes are not weapon masters like the warriors are.

Bolas >>bulls charge for 100b. The problem is mesmers/thieves teleports/shadowstep get rid of both of them or at least distance them selves from you. So stupid..weapon skills>>>stability with zero cool down.

This Fenrir guy has quoted and disagreed with every post I’ve made in the past 24 hours. I’m not sure if he’s trolling, but I still agree with you 100%. It’s hard to find another warrior who understands the importance of mobility and how lackluster the greatsword actually becomes when facing far greater odds when most other classes will outdo a warrior simply due to balance issues.
Haha he’s usually not too bad, most warriors just get a bit of separation anxiety at the thought of parting with their Greatsword…. And the unfortunate whining about it’s lackluster in PvP/WvW will lead to it getting wrecked as far as PvE goes, but hey, what can you do?

GS is for mobility and for evades/kiting as someone posted. Only new comers use GS for 100b mainly.

In fairy tale land where unicorns fart rainbows and you never get crippled or chilled ever, sure, GS is pretty mobile. In the game I play those conditions get thrown around so regularly there’s rarely any point in cleansing them. Also the definition of ‘kiting’ has changed significantly in the past few hours if you can now do this with a melee weapon…

But I fear my words might be wasted on a theory crafter who has yet to see the battlefield.What are you talking about? You have two mobile strike abilities on your GS, 3 on your axe/shield and a bulls charge. That gives you 6 immobilize removers. There is no point in cleansing immob and cripple? Then you sit back with your rifle/signet warrior and get kitten on?
Let me sum up your previous replies:
You are against having banner buffs being mobile because a banner on your back clashes with your outfit.
You think signets are great.
You think GS is used for 100b mainly.
You think since a condition can be applied repeatedly that you should not fight against it? I guess condition removal/stun breakers are just a silly concept, too.
You use a rifle. Hows that going with a thief or a melee warrior drowning your face with kitten?
You think signet of might with a cc interrupts blocking -if you knew the class you’d know that it doesn’t-. I think pretending that something is right without knowing if it actually works is called theory crafting which you just did.

Remove the root it does to the war and its fine in its current form. Allow for the user to move with their target.

For the people say this is OP : Think it through – if you’re using it while moving a simple dodge away will get the intended target out of your reach. So no – it is not OP. It can be easily dodged since the target can roll away from you as you’re running by them with your 100b.100b is NOT a bad skill – FOR PVE. In PVE you should be able to hit it just right and the loss of moblity balances out nicely with the fact that you deal a lot of damage quickly.
This works in PVE because mobs don’t run away.In PVP 100b is next to useless because GW2 is a mobility-based game. Everyone can run and have effective and well thought out built in escape mechanisms. Even if you CC Them they can just use a break stun or remove condition and run while you swing your blade in the air like a maniac.
The solution would be 100B mobility. It would allow for pressure to be added without making it overpowered in PVE. Let’s face it – PVE content has already been done to death and everyone knows where to stand, when to dodge, and so on up to the point where 100b rooting you in place isn’t even an issue anymore.
In all honesty – maybe this is just nostalgia here but i liked the old 100b that we had in GW1. It was nice, fun, effective and although this is a very different game I still miss it. Maybe they could look to that for some inspiration. I’m not saying make this skill that one – I’m saying remember that 100B was once a useful and powerful skill – and try to get that in the gam again.
Also – skill 5 for the GS also needs a rework. It should basically be a blink. Rush is unreliable and bad.
Totally agreed on the 5 GS.. i just dont use it anymore in combat, just to roam around, cuz in combat sometimes it gets you to the place of your oponent was and not where is standing now, what i mean is like a type of root, if your opponent moves then you are “destined” to land in a place where your opponent isnt anyomore.
I do sPvp a bit (r39 so i’m a wee bit familiar), and I’ve been playing with warrior for the last few weeks.
My build focuses on:
– Buffing and Sustaining Allies
* Great AoE might stacking (+90% might duration, woot)
* AoE +180 Vitality, AoE +180 Toughness
* Constant health regeneration buff (273 heal per second).
* Reviving allies with Battle Standard- High Toughness and high vitality
– Medium single target ccFor weapons, I use Longbow and Mace/Shield.
Utilities are Healing Signet, Berserker Stance, For Great Justice, Banner of defense, and Battle Standard.Might stacking is the awesomeness to this build. Using 3 different sets of runes I get +60% might duration. Then with traits I get +30% boon duration. That is a whopping +90% might duration. Using berserkers stance once, I can get 2 uses of my longbow fire AoE shot, all while out of combat. In one fire AoE with my longbow, I use longbow #3 blast finisher and Banner of defense blast finisher (summoning or #5 banner skill). So doing that about every 10 seconds gives 6 stacks of AoE might that lasts about 50 seconds. On top of that I use “For Great Justice” as much as possible for an additional 3 stacks that lasts just under 50 seconds. This allows for great team might stacking. I alone can easily keep up a constant 20 stacks of might for people around me. Of couse it takes about 20-30 seconds to achieve that much might alone, but even at the beginning of the fight, I lay down 9 stacks plus another 6 stacks 10 seconds later. You can get even more might if you have another class with easy blast finishers (Thief Cluster Bomb).
The longbow is needed to achieve the huge stacks of might, plus the “Pin Down” skill is a great immobilize. Since I’m all about buffing and won’t do much damage anyway, I chose Mace/Shield to stay alive longer and do good single target cc’ing. Mace adrenaline skill is amazing by the way.
Since I have a fire AoE almost always readily available, the blast finisher the Banner of defense has is huge. I know when the fire field is down, so I know when to quickly pick up the banner and slam it down. The banner blast finisher is huge in my opinion to help stack might.
I also have the banner traited to grant regeneration. People around my banner get 273 health a second. That is HUGE! I don’t even have to be there to heal teammates by a great amount. And since the banner gives constant regeneration, it doesn’t matter if the boon gets stripped, you will get it right back!
Many times I sit at mid point. I tell the roamers on my team to grab my banner when they run to a small fight on another point if nothing is going on at mid. (You can’t do that with your silly ‘backpack’ idea). 180 vitality gives almost an extra 2k health to their total health pool! So
Another huge and awesome thing is that the banners don’t disappear when you die! So if I die early in a fight, I’m still somewhat contributing to the fights. If banners are a backpack, the banner would go away when you die. This backpack idea is sounding like a huge nerf to me.
I think banner are great right now and only need minimal change, NOT some huge over hall…
Builds don’t need to be pure damage all of the time. I do all of my damage through my allies by buffing them and keeping them alive.
PS: Still playing with this build, I was going to make a thread about my build to throw about some ideas. Since this build is so heavily dependent on how the banners are now, I decided to post it here too, hoping to add to the banner discussion. So if you have any ideas on this build, keep an eye out for the thread!
The banner could drop from your back while you are dead.
In the current state of the game they are able to just One hit kill you from stealth with backstab, if thats not enought damage to kill you, you will still be at 20% or less health, then they proceed to spam Heart Seeker till you are dead, or auto attacks, its the same.
If for some reason you are lucky enought to evade the burst, then he will just re stealth and try again, hos is this fair?, then if you manage to get his health down, he will RUN, then proceed to reset the combat, coming back with FULL HP, again, how is this fair?….

The other player has 0 defenses to that, and if for some stupid reason you fail that cheap abuse of backstab then you can simply re stealth and try again with all your stealth utilities and skills, you can escape and restore your health to full if you are in trouble, and then try again your cheap backstab spam.

Its probably getting a 20-40% Damage nerf, but probably becoming fully mobile and a 75% faster channel.

I hope, really hope they dont make it an useless skill… but i really on to the movile thing, i just hopoe the reworked version its better, ill guess i have to trust them, and about faster, i think a lot of warrior skill could use a speed up, like a bunch, right now its like we are posting on the common chat what is going to be our next move… like “hey im going to use 100b now, here comes an Earth shaker… now i will use hamer 3!, now wait… here comes…. right now… it really is coming…. hamer 5! or rifle killshot if you want.”
From what i’ve heard, 100b is actually getting a 20-40% damage nerf. Rightly so as well. Its been holding this profession back far too long.
So… they are nerfing the damage of a skill that is already bad because everyone can evade it, so now if you ever hit 3 hits of 100 blades you are going to be dealing even less damage… in the meantime we have thieves bursting to death from the shadows and other professions that have better offensive skill that dont need to use a CC in order to land.

The planting them on the ground thing is good as it is, they just need to be either 1) picked up on the fly or 2) summonable to your hands by pressing the utility skill again.

No reason for it, the warrior got a lot of love needs, but they aren’t in buffing 100B. Jesus why every single warrior thread is about 100b? I swear community seems to be even more kittened than the devs themselves.

Warriors do not bunker it’s just wrong to say that because warriors have very bad access to protection you mention they have pretty good access to protection but that’s not true. Warriors need to run a master trait in the Tactic’s line that converts a random condition to a boon and that condition needs to be vulnerability. The warhorn also has a 20 second cooldown 16 when traited. It’s counter intuitive to wait for a specific condition and then hope that rng converts vulnerability into protection.
PVT gear also puts you on the low end of the damage spectrum a place where warriors cannot afford to be. Clerics is a much better choice to supplement going deep into tactics and defense. Running the PvE shouts even in WvW is a very bad idea and severly gimping yourself and the people around you. The healing from the Grandmaster Tactic Vigorous Shouts is too small even in clerics gear which it seems you don’t even run.
With PVT gear who cares that you have 100% fury uptime you do such pitiful damage the Fury boon has no significance in the build.
I don’t think you’ve tried many builds if you still tout a shout build for wvw 10 months after release of this game.

I said you had to know your skills really well and time them to get the max out of them. I often find myself with protection and regen, definitely in solo fights. You can’t really time in zergs or groupvsgroup, but guardians give protection there anyway. So the guardian gives you the same advantage he has, only your health pool is almost double his.
Now people have asked me, how do you heal it all back up. As healing surge does +-9k heal which is less than 1/3th of my health. Again this is a zerg build, everytime we regroup with waterfield you heal back to full. Meaning these extra health really helps towards your survivability.
If I would run full clerics as you suggested, my damage would be kitten yes. Almost no crit chance, no crit damage and low power. Clerics gives only a small insignificant boost to your heals. That does not justify the lose of damage and defense. The main power of the build ain’t the shouts that heal, they are a nice extra, because they stack with all the other healing you get. But it is the condition cleaning.
warhorn 4: chill/cripple/immobilize + 1 extra condition
warhorn 5: 1 condition
shake it off: 2 conditions
fear me: 1 condition
for great justice: 1 condition
—> that are 9 conditions cleaned off and 2 boons added + might/fury/movement speed and a debuff and disruption for the enemies.There is something called overkill in this game. My build hammerstuns for 4k and the auto attack chain goes between 1.2-2.2k damage depending on your oponents armor. The skills deal up to 3k damage. You’ll still hit hard, especially against those squishys with no armor. So if you run in a zerg/organised group, you don’t need more damage than this. Even is solo fights this is often enough to kill your opponent and if you don’t, you just walk away.
Saying fury has no significance is wrong, 20% crit chance is huge and always will be no matter what. It will boost you from around 20% crit chance to 40%. Which I consider as enough.
I played a long time in T1 EU, most of the warriors there are bunkers and shout/heal. I moved down to T5-6 because of the skill lag and got to say that bunkers aren’t that comen here. Most are greatsword warriors missing their combos and just wiping their sword in the air, dealing practicly no damage. It gets even more sad when they don’t have a source of stability. But those things aside, I don’t think there is a decent guild that runs without shout/heal warriors in GroupvsGroups.

I sincerely hope this ‘Greatsword Only’ attitude is being purely directed at PvE, if not then… I’ve truly lost all faith in the Warrior community.

Some people like to play the warrior like a warrior and go melee not staying in the back of their team spaming arrows or gun shots.
Remove the root it does to the war and its fine in its current form. Allow for the user to move with their target.

We can’t survive for kitten and out only good GS doesn’t hit for kitten. Oh and by doesn’t hit for kitten I mean any competent person will dodge the whole kitten hit or will dodge at least half of it thus making our “oh so great” skill useless.

Here is another food for your balance issues, my Guardian isn’t in full zerger, he doesn’t have all ascended yet he can pop 7 – 9k damage 360 degrees around him while spinning around like an idiot with his great sword. Yet he survives like a tank in crack. Hum sure let’s continue making the warrior more useless cause we only pve or play other classes.
Agreed, i really hate people talking about 100b like it is overpowered, its just a bad designed skill, like you sayd other classes have better offensive skill even more OP like the dam backstab that you can land from the safety of your stealth.
Don’t be silly, only OP classes are allowed long lasting Reflect Projectiles. Also giving a primarily melee class an ability to protect ourselves from ranged attack is completely unfair, other classes might have to do more than #1 us to death in a strafing motion.

They were lies, and its not false information actually i have a thief so i really know how the things work, you just need to catch someone off guard while you are in stealth and VOILA backstab him with the stone poison keep attacking with your autoattack, if he is not dead yet, spam heart seeker, then profit.
The other player has 0 defenses to that, and if for some stupid reason you fail that cheap abuse of backstab then you can simply re stealth and try again with all your stealth utilities and skills, you can escape and restore your health to full if you are in trouble, and then try again your cheap backstab spam.

It’s funny that thieves get the most hate from everyone even still now that they can’t burst anyone (despite uplevels) from 100-0 anymore and die everywhere but roaming (where they are top tier). Yes, i would like to see the off hand weapons more viable in pvp especially axe since i love the 5 skill (how it looks not how it works).
I wonder if people will ever stop treating PvP as PvE, thinking they can just spam 2 until they win. There are other weapons out there….

I remember old times of early Vanilla WoW where rogues could open on you from stealth with a stun and then proceed to kill you while timing their attacks so that you could do a jack kitten from 100% to 0% HP. You were literally stunned for the entire duration, hence the stunlock. This was later nerfed with dimishing returns and such but I remember what rogues used to reply in all the QQ threads concering this issue. “This is how rogues work. Rogues are fine. Learn to play your class!”. The imbalance of that particular case would be a laughing absurd in modern day of MMO balancing but yet it was “fine” and all rogues were clearly outplaying their opponents! L2P! I bow to all those skilled players who roam as thieves in WvW and play cat and mouse with entire groups of people thanks to stealth mechanic. Such a mastery indeed!
Yes, then they got balanced and guees what, no one wanted to play rougues on wow anymore, went for paladines and death knights, shadow priest or whatever was OP at the moment, then the trully skillful rougues mastered the class in a fair way.
I hope that this will be the same here.
To solve class problems:
-Thieves cant enter stealth while in combat unless using special utility skills with high CD
-Abilities that let you enter stealth while in combat, like cloak and dagger should let you enter stealth without the need to hit anyone
-Stealth has a longer CD
-All kind of damage and blocks should reveal the thief
-Reduce draastically the burst damage of abilities like backstab, its not balaced to practically OHKO someone from stealth, its OP.
-Stealth duration its increased 60%, so thieves have more chance of run or to do something else while in stealth.
