Why should these materials be tied to a way of playing anyway? Shouldn’t we be stimulated to play how we want to?

I wonder if someday people will stop misquoting that manifesto.

So do away with the whole thing and change every dust/fragment/ore drop into an ascended grab bag that generates an amount of a random selected material.

No more RNG pls.

FenrirSlakt.3692

There are rumors that the airship was supposed to follow Zhaitan down into Arah and the team would finish him on land. Sounds like it would have been a much more interesting fight.

The main reasoning for the rumor is that there’s a very provocatively named POI in the Arah story map (“Zhaitan’s Last Stand”), but it’s not accessible. Maybe they omitted the Last Stand because they were worried that the party might not be awake after pushing 2 every 3 seconds for 45 minutes?

Or they’re waiting until they’re happy with it! I’m sure the real version is coming just as soon as they finish working on it!

lol

You’re correct.
After you beat the mouth, there’s this gate ahead that opens. I kinda feel like to do Story Mode again and see if I can jump off the ship into the island again and explore that place, though it’s probably walled.

[Suggestion] Scythe Weapon (2Handed)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

FenrirSlakt.3692

The case for Scythes, is because they were a major weapon established in GW1, with a number of skins even reused in GW2 (such as the Destroyer Scythe)

I didn’t play GW1, to be honest, but what classes could use Scythes (Dervish aside, as they don’t exist anymore).

After checking, it appears that they were Dervish exclusive, and those do not exist in GW2 as they used to be (Guards are a combination of Dervish, Paragon and Monk, I believe).

No single weapon was profession exclusive; however, dervs were the only profession with scythe mastery, so someone could run N/D or P/D or whatever/derv and still benefit from it, or have a zealous scythe for energy management without needing derv at all.

My point stands, you can’t mix professions in GW2, and even if you could, Dervish do not exist as a playable profession.
Polearms would be easier and more practical to implement for ANET.

you could use scythes regardless of being a derv or not. and polearms being easier or more practical doesn’t even have a basis

How well does a scythe fit a Warrior, a Ranger or a Guardian? Not very well, to be honest. It looks like a perfect match for a Necromancer, though.
A Polearm would look splendid in the hands of any of those three professions and could be used as a Scythe by Necromancers too. Hence the practicality.

When projectile is unreflectable it usually means it’s unblockable as well.

Shield of the Avenger destroys as well, do you know if that works the same? Can’t say I have used it heavily outside of a few situations where it has worked fine, usually WoR is the go to and gets the job done very well.

SoA doesn’t do anything to unreflectable stuff.

Destroying that kind of projectiles seems to be the only niche unique to mesmers right now.

Stacking needs to go.

FenrirSlakt.3692

To me, both sides of the stacking debate seem to be saying the same thing two different ways.

Anti-stacking people: “Stacking is no fun and needs to be fixed. Here are some ideas about how to change the mechanics to fix it.”

Anti-anti-stacking people: “NO! Stacking is the natural result of the game’s mechanics!”

Am I missing something?

You’re missing this part:

Anti-stacking: “We do not enjoy stacking. Please change the game for everyone.”

Pro-stacking: “Make your own groups— you don’t have to stack. You can play how you want, and we can play how we want.”

Well I guess my answer to that is that willfully handicapping oneself doesn’t create the same feeling of challenge and reward. Solving something the hard way isn’t a great achievement if there also exists a trivial solution. Therefore, anti-stackers can’t really “play how they want” if what they want is for there to be an actual in-game (not self-imposed) motive to play in a way that looks appealing on-screen and simulates an actual fantasy encounter.

You want stacking gone because it would make bosses harder?
No, it really does not make them harder. Their weak design does encourage stacking in the first place. It would take longer, yes. But it wont make those bosses more thrilling to fight.
So if you want to end stacking, come up with more challenging content with an appropriate reward.

You just have to ask yourself if you want to run dungeons because of the fun you have doing so or because of the loot. I do run dungeons because of the loot and I use stacking whenever it is possible. That doesn’t mean that I’m a stacking lover, just that I want to get past this repetitive content as fast as possible.

I’m just trying to help point out the problem. I don’t have the solution. As for “appropriate reward,” I would personally have no problem with the rewards remaining as they are even if more challenging and thrilling content were introduced to the dungeons. Frankly, I don’t see what the reward has to do with it.

Maybe my failure to get your point about the reward stems from my answer to your last question: I run dungeons for fun. Getting loot is also fun, but hardly an end in itself. I mean, how can it be an end in itself if it has no value outside the game?

Why do try to accomplish things in life if we’re going to lose them when we die?
It’s all about perspective. Unless you believe in some sort of afterlife (and even then, in the very long run), there’s no point in doing anything.
We do things and expect some sort of reward from them because that’s the way we’re wired. Looking too much into it can be dangerous.

Without a difficult death system nothing is truly difficult in the game. It is so easy to level in GW2 I honestly think you should be reset to level 1 honestly there would be no zerkers then and Anet would finally be able to dish out loot for bosses. End game wise it only takes you like 2 weeks to make an 80. Would remove a lot of boredum that is for sure.

This is an anti-zerker thread in disguise, it appears.

Regardless of gear, a guardian can support really well through the use of well-timed evades and active defenses (Aegis, Blind, Invuln).
Berserker gear is the best choice to clear PvE content. Since you main an Elementalist, I will assume that you’re used to being squishy and won’t be having much trouble.

Still waiting for end game content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FenrirSlakt.3692

FenrirSlakt.3692

There’s plenty of “Endgame” content:
1. Working for legendaries.
2. Making a name for yourself on your server through WvW and PvP (And now the game in general, with Megaservers)
3. Becoming a leader of PvE events or in WvW.
4. Keeping up with Living Story.
5. Making and running a guild.

1. gold grind, which is an endgame goal, but not one i prefer to do.
2. ehhhh that really is only about what 4 people out of 400 who play WvW? and out of the pool of players, lets say half play WvW. And to be honest anet really messed up with the no match up threads, they really killed ease with which you can get to know your community. I dont know what the solution is, but WvW needs some type of community hub.
3. Becoming a leader of events in pve, honestly there is about 2 or 3 events which needs leaders. And there isnt that great an incentive to do them. They also with megaservers have made it harder to achieve this.
4.keeping up with LS, isnt really endgame, to this point. LS is often easy and i would say its probably low level content really, generally. This may change in the future, but LS doesnt push me to get better, or tighten up skills.
5.Guild making and running, this is probably the most endgamish activity, you can kind of build the guild, but i think they need to refine and expand the guild content.

That said of the things you have suggested, only 2 are not based around leading a group, and those two are pretty poor executions if those are the only options. Legendary is best achieved through extremely easy repetitive farms, or TP merchanting, and LS, well i mentioned that.

Then this may not be your type of game.

There is easy way to fix the stacking in the corners for Bosses specifically. In Arah P3 the last boss in phase two becomes invulnerable when you pull it to a corner and damage done is reduced to 0.What Anet has to do is implement this to every other boss in dungeons. That way bosses can’t be pulled to the corners and people won’t be able to melt them like butter.

Also by not pulling things to the corners i think people may start actually pay attention to the mechanics. For instance in AC when Kholer is pulled to the corner.A lot of groups just don’t dodge the whirlwind. They get hit by it and go in down state because they just can’t take so much dmg.Why don’t they dodge the spin?I don’t know…The same goes for other bosses too.
The change with spider queen in AC is a good start in my opinion but there is still room to improve.

If people get punished for not learning, then that’s good. Why punish those that actually know the mechanics and are just doing things the most efficient way possible?

Also, there’s no point on pulling the Arah P3 boss to a corner, unless you have a FGS. Otherwise you just get cleaved and lose your Scholar bonus.

What level of Fractals are you doing? Levels 1-9 are a joke, yes. Perhaps try some of the higher levels?

it’s still the same content at higher levels, so it still feels like you’ve done it before. every time i do a fractal i wish i didn’t because it just takes so long that i want it to be over after the second major boss. sure they’re rewarding as far as gold and drops but there are much quicker ways.

But it does still provide some ‘challenge’ in comparison to low levels.
I don’t think that anyone can complain about the lack of an end-game, unless they’ve already done everything else.

Who is this “us” you (singular) speak of? If you (plural) enjoy fighting bosses your way so much, why don’t you come together and enjoy the PvE content as a group?
Is it that you do not have any like-minded friends that enjoy ranging bosses to death? Or perhaps you can’t stand the idea of others doing things differently and earning the same rewards as you in less time?

Really, for all I care, you can build tanky and facetank everything, build healing power and health through damage or simply use a ranged weapon and dps (very slowly) how you please, as long as we’re not in the same party.
