…if Anet fuxored around with the percentages after the fact (that it was purchased), there should be a reckoning.
You would think that the people at Anet would realize after the whole expansion fiasco, that you don’t F#$K with your client base.
Rip the wall down.
…Rangers.
Nobody likes them. Even rangers feel bad about playing rangers. :P

+1
….copper that is. :P
Seriously, if it bothers you that much, just buy the item at list price. Otherwise, suck it up.
Good job.
Now, what about us crazy vets?
I have 64 character slots. Is Anet finally going to increase the number of allowed characters? Any plans to increase them in the future?
Will the GW2 universe collapse if you guys try and add one more character slot to my main account?

After seeing some videos from the community and comparisons of other MMOs expansion, I’ve decided that 50 bucks MIGHT be a bit expensive (for an expansion) but good price I guess since we get no sub fees. Besides you have broken standard rules in MMOs and “getting the core game from buying an expansion” is another unique thing………
uncommon 10 years ago, when they did it with GW1. It’s actually uncommon with modern MMOs to charge a sub fee. Most are buy to play models, with micro transactions. Most MMOs that did charge subs, have even changed to this model.
So, your main point is mootsville.
For kittening sake …………
I thought that the full-prized x-packs , will make ppl happier
than a lower-priized but with more empasis on micro-transactions ……..piece of kittens………..
The problem is, the expansion is no more an expansion than the living story crap we’ve already seen. The difference this time, is they want the price of a full retail game for it.
The content they are hocking is micro transaction quality content for retail style price.
Challange, defend the HoT expansion price

Solutions:
1) Every expansion package, including the $50 option comes with at least 1 character slot.
2) Every preexisting account that upgrades to the expansion is given a key code for an additional copy of the base standalone game.
Do these two things, and see some balance restored.

To clarify: $50 is the price of the expansion. We included the core game as a free bonus to make it easier for new players to get into it.
Give the existing (as in already supporting) customers a key for the base core game when they purchase the expansion for their preexisting GW2 account.
….then it might not feel like you’re bending us over so much.
I agree it’s an issue of bundling rather than price…
Loyal, previous customer? No soup for you.
1) at least one character slot for every version of the expansion
2) a standalone key code for the base game with every version of the expansion.
These two things would go a long way in calming the kittenstorm Anet just started.

Anet really needs to step back and consider what they are doing with the expansion prices and bundling…..or more appropriately called bungling.
-new character class? Provide at least one character slot.
-Already own GW2? Provide a serial key for the base game along with the expansion.
Aside from the value/price issue, you are sticking a fork into your playerbase to see if they are done…with you. Seriously bad mistake you’re making. Keep your pricing scheme, but change your attitude towards your playerbase.
….then again, we could just have John Smith pop buy and pop a snarky comment. That always helps.

I think the bigger issue is it appears the amount of content doesn’t justify the price tag. That’s more of a marketing and promotion problem than anything. If the public saw a huge amount of content, I would bet you wouldn’t hear these complaints.
But, for right now, the content appears to be around three or four Living Story updates with a new class. The rest is gravy with updates to skills and the like.
That’s a problem and a reason for the unhappiness on the forums. I’ll not get into that business about repaying for something we’ve already bought. Double-dipping doesn’t even begin to cover that.
If they charge the price of a full retail game, I want the content of a full retail game.
I want story, dungeons, new maps, and armour (that isn’t kitten-flung micro transaction gemstore bullkitten).
…. Anet screwed the pooch hardcore this time.

So, a kittenty living story equivalent for $50 – $100?
Oh….hi Summer Steam Sale!
They should have kept the expansion model of the first GW. This is crap.
Same ranger as in this video:
Left his guild tag on that time….
I took 5 times to get this to work. Not cool Anet.
How many times to I need to run this POS personal storyline before ALL the Sons of Svanir turn red (attack-able). Glad to see Anet is so concerned with the new player experience so early in the Norn story path.
Were they using a utility skill instead of a weapon?
Point is, if they weren’t tagging the candy corn elementals, they were not getting anything…..

While I understand the complaint (and certainly appreciate the OPs financial support of the game), I dare say that changing this for the handful of players that it is inconveniencing is unlikely to happen.
Yes, if they changed it, the next limit would be 128. It has nothing to do with Anet “liking” multiples of powers of 2 but just how item counts for a base 10 system work out in an efficent binary storage system.
I agree that it is unlikely to make concessions for the few, but Anet has a track record of being accommodating to players when possible…. charr salvage kits anyone?
I also didn’t say “Anet” liked binary number systems, I said “computers” liked them. From a technical standpoint it must already be possible since the players with a full 64 slot account were able to get +1 for the beta event. That’s also mentioned previously.
Wow – 64 characters!??
And I thought I was an altoholic. Curious, but what do you use all of those for?
Different looks, builds, certain dedicated farming spots. Heck, when the game first started, I made my money by parking alts in the strawberry patch!

I agree that 64 is due to a base 2 number system. Computers like those 1s and 0s.
01000000 as a byte. I’m not sure why the limitation is there, maybe due to the way their database is set up? Who knows…
What I do know, is that players with the full 64 slots AND got beta access were able to see 64 plus the beta slot. So it is possible to have more than the current limit. I’d like some clarification, or at least to know if this being addressed.

Character limit increased for the expansion?

With the new profession being added to the game, will the account limit be increased for those with maximum character slots?
Currently, I have (and use) all 64. I’d prefer not deleting any of them in order to play the new character class. I don’t think I should have to delete any existing characters in order to have the expansion fully usable on my account.
I also don’t think I should have to use another account to preserve my existing characters, due to the time and money spent on unlocks/upgrades.
If there are no plans to increase the character slot limit, I think it’s fair to ask for a profession changer NPC to be added to the game.
We haven’t forgotten this issue and hope to have some information to provide as an update really soon.
I think everyone would agree that it’s better to go through a brief period of disabled access rather than allow the acquisition of a whole lot of unearned titles. But of course the best thing would be to get everything aligned so we can kick start the HoM and you can access it.
Again, very sorry for the delay and I’ll post when we have any new info on this.
I prefer it to be fixed properly, rather than quickly. This also includes removing the unearned rewards/titles from players that shouldn’t have them.
Thanks for getting this taken care of.
Lag is raging hard right now in EotM. Big fight…half got disconnected.
Like I said in another thread…
If this was a week after 9/11, there’s no way in hell they would have gone ahead with it. It doesn’t matter how long in advance they had it prepared. It was insensitive, and offensive.
It should have been shelved. Poor form Anet.
Offensive, and disappointing that you went ahead with this.
And as a level-headed chap in there says, does this mean Anet should cancel the expansion because it has gliders in?
Again, too many people trying to be offended on someone else’s behalf. My grandfather was on 3 ships that were torpedoed in WW2, should I be offended about all the ships that get sunk in this game?
It’s the time frame that makes it offensive. If your grandfather died on a ship that was sunk, along with many others… you would not find an emote released the same week of a sailor saluting and slowly sinking into the ground as offensive? Maybe play some “wa-wa-wa” music while you’re at it.
If you can’t see the issue, then there’s no use in arguing with you.

I don’t think our German friends are appreciating this either. Please shut it off.
There is always someone ready and waiting to be offended on someone elses account. Its nothing at all to do with any plane crash.
It is an allusion to a very old bug.
OMFG i remember in beta, Please Anet after April fools add this emote into the gem shop just to stick it to all these salty tears on this thread i will buy it and so will may many players.
Put /plane in game so i to can run around like this when ever i so please diving bombing these cry babys!
I’ll bet you’d be singing a different tune if they did this a week after the 9/11 attacks.
I don’t think our German friends are appreciating this either. Please shut it off.

How about you take a look over at the German forum.

I think ALL instruments need a work over AND chromatic play-ability.
I love the instruments, but in the current state, you have to be an autistic rainman to play anything decent or run a macro.
Well – A.Net has stated one Key = one function and that includes macros. Anything other than that is against the rules.
It is very plain and simple.
You’re wrong about that. It’s allowed now (for instruments)….as it should be.
I just bought 10.
Something is not right. It’s a bit odd that I got 5 of the same in a row of the shadow dyes.
5 Shadow Purple Dye
2 Grape Sade Dyes
1 Heirloom Dye
1 Wintergreen Dye
1 Dark Olive Dye
All blueprints/keep upgrades etc should NOT cost gold. Only badges………
Just consume it. Luck is saved, so if they ever increase the MF cap you will profit from it.
It used to be that way….. not anymore.
Once you hit the cap now, clicking on extra luck does nothing. I don’t know why they changed it, but they certainly did.
Yeah, Killmaster…
I just simply repurchased it a few hours later and deleted the fake invoice. I’ll keep an eye on my accounts though. There’s always a chance that the extra charge could show up.
Check your banking records. This also happened to me on one of my first orders. I received the invoice but no key. I also did not get billed for that particular order.
I also did not receive any e-mail whatsoever on the account’s address.
There’s a timeout period.
I can understand why this is in place, but they really should increase the limit past 2 or 3. The resellers/botters that I can only imagine this limitation is in place for is effecting real customers.
I can also confirm that it’s failing to authorize more than 2 purchases.
Although, when the third attempt was made, I changed the paypal source from credit card to bank account ( after it failed ), and got a message that was successful…….only no serial code was issued.
Sloppy service.
It boils down to kittens are going to wear the kitten cap…
Sure, the OP isn’t breaking any rules…but being a decent person was never part of the TOS. It takes a couple minutes MAX to do the Steam ogre. Doing it when everybody expects it to be done won’t affect his guild’s plans in the slightest.
The fact he posted this shows what kind of person he is.
Nuclear Harp™ :P
So I’m guessing they are turning a blind eye to music macros, otherwise you just posted proof of using macros.
Read Gaile’s final comments.
100% OK
If only I could be so grossly incandescent…
I miss the stacking legendary auras. It was crazy how much glow you could get going.
What better way to burn though 1000 scrolls of Knowledge?
If no slot increase is being considered, at least give us the ability to reset classes. Locking out customers because they bought too much from you is kinda silly.
lol…
The xp weekend brought the level 80 count to 52. I’ll get them all there sooner or later. The nice thing, is I made most of them early enough to be grandfathered into the old trait system. Only about 6 out of 64 are “new” enough to be hobbled by the current trait usage.
But seriously…It’s not like they aren’t using a byte of data to hold the 64 character limit anyways. I have no idea why they used 01000000 instead of 10000000 to represent count. Heck 11111111 please.
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
It was pretty crazy. I got two characters to 80 using level 20 scrolls and the train in EotM.
Nice event. I hope they do it again.
64 characters/account is the current limit.
With the expansion, is this going to be increased? Not a common situation, I’m betting, but I don’t think I should have to delete any of my characters in order to play this new class…..
