I doubt ArenaNet has the capability or desire to send someone’s credentials to every retail store, and force them to check each prospective customer’s credentials to see if they match up to some ‘blacklist’. Anyone can purchase the game, as long as they meet the retail establishment’s criteria.
That’s just a silly interpretation. Permitting a user to buy the game again using the same name/payment information and IP. There’s no need for you to obfuscate the premise.
This is correct. However, if you are running multiple accounts and choose to cheat on one of them, we are going to close all of them. This ban wave had nothing to do with multi-boxing, but likely also impacted players that owned multiple accounts.
Well this is good to hear, especially since your GMs have multi-boxers bullied into being terrified to use the game accounts they play (and paid for) in good faith.
I also hope this policy of banning every account a player holds, independent of violations also includes barring that player from purchasing the game again. After all, that would send a very wrong message.
Yet another…. This got infuriating while attempting to finish. It basically meant that your attempt to finish was over when it happened.
So….. do we get an AP achievement for finishing the HoT story mode, despite the nasty bugs?
Joking aside…I had to try at least 6 times to defeat the ultra hard mode (aka: dev bug mode extreme). I also turned down all the graphic settings to avoid the OOM crash that hasn’t been addressed yet…

Let’s do some math.
8k ToT bags.
1 ToT bag = .06 gold approx value right now
8000×.06=480 GoldHmmmmm. You could almost of bought it by selling those bags if you farmed, or if you bought form AH, Im not sure what you were thinking.
Shhhh!
Before the same old argument of precursors and flushing down more $$$ than what it would cost to buy it outright. Making sense to the the entitled is never a winning proposal.
…people like the gamble. They just don’t like being responsible when they lose.
Bravo OP.
It’s not hard to get with effort. Those that are complaining about this are just being lazy and entitled. Heck, I’d even be ok with Anet adding the tonic to the cob vendor (100 cobs sounds about right). The point is…..put the effort in!!!
Implying that I haven’t put in any effort is pretty presumptuous of you. You have no idea what I have or have not done in an effort to get it, I’m not the only one who thinks the price is outrageous. I’ve been polite and critiqued both the price point AND the fact that they advertised it as a pretty big part of Halloween when it really has nothing to do with it aside from farming Ascent to Madness for the wings.
I’m not implying anything. This thread is proof that you’re not willing to put the effort in. Period.
Once again, I never said it needed to be easy… but it also did NOT need to be behind RNG and/or a 3k gold pay wall.
RNG can be defeated with effort. Go put in the effort. Don’t want to put in the effort? Live without it.
I’m special. I don’t want to work towards anything and everything I want should be easy for me to obtain.
…if you really want something that’s expensive, or is difficult to put in the effort for, get off your duff and go earn it.
Earn it? Yes…. EARN IT.
Go farm ToTs. Go earn gold. Go to work, and buy it with gems to gold. Do something other than whine about it on the forums.
There is a memory leak and it is a problem. I can literally watch it. With task manager open on a side monitor, I can watch the GW2.exe process use more, and more, and more memory. I’ve got 16 GB of ram, so I can play for a good chunk of time before it catches me. I feel for those with 8 GB or less…
Anything with a large amount of “things” going on, like world boss fights, and EotM/WvW shows this happening quickly.
I’m getting the OOM crashes too. Not as quickly as some here, but this has been introduced after a recent patch post HoT launch.
Definitely something wrong. “We are confident’” and blaming 3rd party software isn’t going to cut it as an excuse.
The nerf was needed. Balm farming brought out the worst in everybody. They did however go too far with it.
It’s a smart move,
It will decentralize the farming spots, and toxic behaviour found there. It is a bit aggressive though. 1 ambient per toss is fine, but they should have kept the 3 charges.
It’s growing more because it’s almost Halloween and new items are being added to ToT bags. Use brain.
We know why there is an increase. There’s no reason for you to be insulting. There is no excuse for what certain players/groups of players are doing to others now. Report abuse by these groups are stressing support’s resources, and causing grief.
This is a bad situation all the way around.
There’s more than a few of them doing this.
I’ve even had to deal with entire groups/guilds coming up to me, calling me a botter for farming. That’s bad enough, but then some of them will turn on their commander tags, and shout out in map chat to come to their tag, and report.
All I can do is report them, which I don’t think does anything, since you seem to need bulk reports to affect a player (independent of wrong doing or not).
This is a hostile situation that needs a larger scale solution.
The closer we get to Halloween, the more toxic this issue of balm farming seems to get.
It’s really brought out the worst behaviour in the player base. I’ve seen entire guilds trolling popular spots, effectively shutting down entire areas where balm farmers tend to gather. They set up macros to auto spam attacks, killing all ambients instantly…for hours at a time.
I’ve seen cooperating farmers turn on each other, fighting over the same resource.
I would like to see this taken out of the game, or have the opportunity of ambient clusters increased though out the game to avoid the trolls and other conflicts. It’s just not worth the harassment and abuse.
If you ever thought PvP players could get toxic to each other, try seeing what balm farming can do.
Too bad, he was there first killing ambients, get lost and find a new spot or wait your turn. I can promise you and anybody else on these forums that if I am farming ambients for whatever reason and you start balming them I am going to kill the candy corns just as fast as I would ambients and you’d only be hurting yourself.
The sense of entitlement in your post and in the other pro-maize balm farmers here is quite disgusting. Best community my kitten .
Can the aggressive attitude, there’s no place for it here.
Entitled? I sure am. I’m entitled to find a good compromise that makes everybody happy, and helps all to enjoy the game. Read my post again.
I’ve ran into maize balm farmers only once, I didn’t even know it was a thing until a few weeks back. Maybe I did hit the jackpot but they weren’t unpleasant at all, they seemed just like, well normal players playing. After 10 mins or so, people thanked each other for the contribution and each went their way.
I rarely see unpleasant behaviour, apart from the occasional muppet I run into when leveling alts, who yells at me to let an event fail or something, followed by trying to insult me with all kinds of edgy gamer words. In which case I’ll go out of my way to complete said event, since hey that’s how karma works. :P
I have no problems sitting idle while somebody runs through, or is killing the ambients for a mission. Getting angry or abusive only encourages other players to grief you back. Patience is the key.
Now that being said, I’ve experienced far more players looking to grief in terms of harassing farmers (well, because I farm…). It’s a two way street, but there’s always bad apples or people that are just jerks.
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
You’re quite correct, I don’t even tag the elementals out of respect for the person farming. I just want the right to get what I need to done without someone harassing me for it. When I get those 5000 kills per weapon you’re never going to see me there again unless it’s for Shadow Behemoth and only then for the loot.
The problem comes when I can’t find an alternative place to go, because there are farmers everywhere that there is a concentration of ambient creatures.
I have since found a new spot to farm that requires a lot of set up (thanks again to that kind player Chuck), but the player’s disrespect when I showed them nothing but courtesy is appalling. They didn’t even ask me to stop because they were going to farm, they just insulted me and then tried to stalk me to run me out of the map like a jealous mother hen.
I enjoy farming the candy corn golems, and I do it often.
I can tell you for certain, it’s a lot harder to find good spots that are suitable for balm farming than AP hunting. When you run into these farmers and they snap at you, it’s because they have already been drowned in griefing, nasty players. Understand they are going to be edgy. It’s not an excuse, but it’s the reason.
Do yourself a favour and find somebody that has Forewarned is Forearmed active. The ambients run to you in constant stream. It’s too bad the golems made in instances drop no loot. I know I’d prefer to farm in a private area. That’s one thing I miss a lot from GW1….
Step 1:
Complain about farming until it’s nerfed.
Step 2:
Complain about material costs due to no farming.
Go!
The chest drop rate has increased by powers.
The key drop rate has been increased by multiples.
It’s a shame that Anet came down on the keyfarmers, and made such a useless, token gesture to quell the storm of complaints. I guess it worked?
50% WvW booster is included for sure in the new XP booster.
From somebody that has x2 the max luck needed….just sitting in inventory: Please! Anything to burn this luck up.
lol…
No. The current legendary weapons are already common as heck. If you want to Pay to Win….buy gold from Anet. That shortcut to effort is already available. No need for another one.
As above.
….the newly integrated XP boost only stacks duration up to 7 days.
Jumping puzzle self-Mesmer porting got me hooked on multiples. It’s fun to find creative things to do that would normally take many other players to accomplish.
It’s allowed, but not supported.
Be very careful that you’re not using some thing that broadcasts keyboard/mouse commands to multiple accounts at the same time. That is forbidden.
I personally use multiple accounts to farm with, and manually click each account window to perform an action, for example: Mouse over to an active windowed account and click c and 1. Then mouse over the next one, and manually repeat.
If you broadcast, expect a ban, since I guarantee that people will report you as a bot, since multiboxing looks suspicious to those that don’t know any better.
If the OP is complaining about players griefing during a balm farm, He’s absolutely right. It’s a form of harassment. I’ve seen it first hand, and mostly just laughed it off.
There’s the players that just run though and wack an ambient, not knowing that you’re farming them, or are doing a heart mission. No big deal, as you can just wait until they spawn again.
There’s the players that watch, and want in on the farm too. That’s cool, and I usually explain what I’m doing and invite them to leech of my tosses by partying up with them. Everybody wins.
Then there’s the people that the OP is talking about. These guys are well aware of what you’re doing and either kill the ambient creatures that spawn so you can’t get a reasonable use from your expensive maize balm. Or, they spam damage so the Candy Corn Golems are killed before the level increases, effectively one-shotting them and preventing the balm owner from getting credit.
Heck, in the last couple days that I’ve farmed, one guy stood around for over a hour, making one particular spot usless, accusing me of being a botter and threatening to report me. It’s unreal how petty and mean spirited some people are. Worth reporting them? I doubt it.

As a gem store finisher buyer myself…. This is crazy stupid.
“Hey you, random customer….screw you for paying $10/finisher”.
-Anet
This is the same as buying Guild Wars one day, and it going on sale the next. You had said finishers guaranteed. Other people have to pay the price set by other players on the TP, ot gamble on BLK’s. This is why I when I buy things from the gem store. I make sure I’m 100% happy, and it’s 100% worth the gem cost, otherwise I don’t put my hand in my pocket.
No, this is nothing like buying the game on sale. The finishers should not be in the BLC and available to other players via the TP. I’m ok with them being in the BLC and being account bound, however.

…the use of these extremely limited items…
I’ve got 99 problems, but a booster ain’t one.
Let’s hope the drop rate of 1 every 2000 hours of play has be increased to a rate to compensate the nerf to keyfarming.
Seriously Anet…WTF.
Unless the key drop rate was increased on an exponentially large scale, Anet really made a petty, money-grubbing change to the game.
I’ve played a lot (and paid a lot, in gem purchases). In 6000 hours of play, I’ve had about 3 black lion keys drop.
Stop kittening on the people that support your game Anet. It’s NOT good for business. I will NEVER buy a black lion key from you again.
After a year…
This is still broken.
Trying to complete it without using any of Scarlet’s devices for the achievement, and It’s stuck at the same place as everyone else’s. Fix it already.
I received 90 blooms (what I expected). I did not receive the 3 crates that should have also been sent.
Do we really have to flood CS with tickets for these items? I really think some quality control concerns are running rampant here. Thanks for the correction on the blooms, but you guys are still dropping the ball.
As we mentioned yesterday, we will be taking care of those of you who did not get your rewards, so look for those in your in-game mail in the coming days.
Thank you.
I would like to know if the rewards we are currently getting at the end of the round are correct. Are we also supposed to be getting rewards during the event itself (not just the end of the 30 min timer)? It says the chest(s) is a bonus chest. Am I correct in assuming the ongoing event is not rewarding correctly either? Are there plans to compensate the players beyond yesterday’s complete non-reward?
Are we wasting our time with a failed loot system?
Terrible implementation Anet.
Simple fix:
Reward the number of tokens directly to the level of Invasion Defender AND change the participation level to correlate with the medal colour/reward.
Bronze: 1 level of Invasion Defender
Silver: 2 levels of Invasion Defender
Gold: 3 Levels of Invasion Defender.
As your event sits….rewards are not high enough to buy the items from the trader, and players are simply tagging mobs for credit and moving on to the next event.
Make these changes.
Any 3yr vet that took electro dyes as their gift just got smacked in the face by anet today…
And any smart vet held onto the gift instead of running straight to the TP and sorting dyes by price in order to decide which one to select as a freebie asap.
…can’t feel bad for the greedy.
As long as you control each account with individual actions, and separate input at any given time.
No broadcasting of keyboard/mouse input to all three at the same time.
Uhhh…
It’s a FREE ACCOUNT.
If he went ahead and deleted the character anyways, you could magically solve this problem by getting….wait for it….
….another FREE ACCOUNT.
Phew, that was hard.
Meh…whine more OP…
After 6000 hours I finally got a precursor drop.
….that’s after EARNING many more, through farming/forging, and well PLAYING the game. Stop acting like an entitled, spoiled brat. Put the effort in. Nobody is going to hand you the loot for nothing.
Mega thread merger incoming!
…..talk about putting the horse before the cart. You guys are crazy.
I think they arerather tolerated then explicitly allowed.
Just because- you know, its pleaseant to listen to
Devs stated multiple times that Macros are banneble. one button= one action performed
Instrument macros are 100% allowed. Explicitly.
Now the enemy knows when I’m coming, from the fierce cry of my whoopee cushion. The mere thought of my flatulence drives fear into the heart of my foes.
Pa…phurrrrrrt!!!
Thanks Anet.
Maybe there’s only one active?
Definitely not the case.
….for the love of god, add an option to join different EotM instances. At the very least, an option to NOT keep joining the one you just left.
Yes most of you were because you had a more forgiving system, and thanks for adding salt to the wound….
It’s just an example of how badly thought out Anet’s game changes are. They should at the VERY least bring back a reward (a shard) for leveling past 80. They should also replace the shards as frequently as they rewarded scrolls of knowledge:
….that’s a lot of shards worth.
Add the 50% WvW exp bonus to the new EXP buff…and we’ll all call this done like dinner. We will even look past the underhanded nerfing of the random boosts getting cut in half duration.
Respect your players Anet. This is disgusting.
You can’t really call this an exploit, when the developers plainly state that it’s intended.
…I don’t agree with it either, for the record.
