I think the gifts and forge route should be involved with getting the T2 level of ascended to legendary status.
However, the T3 WvW armor should be legendary right from the vendor.
Good news!
It’s sad to see players saying it will devalue their raid armor. It doesn’t. The average WvW player needs to put in 2 months or more, playing 20-40 hours a week in order cap out the weekly ticket limit (to buy a T2 set). Not to mention whatever the gift costs are going to be.
That’s WAY more time investment than raid gear. Stop complaining. If anything, the raid gear is too easy to get by comparison. That’s a fact.
You don’t think there should be a minor perk for people who spent more and owned the game sooner?
Now hold on…
I pre-ordered both. I bought all the characters slots I could. How does that fit with what you’re trying to say?
If you had the maximum character slots on your account when you bought the HOT deluxe/ultimate, you got 70.
If you had the maximum character slots when you bought the ultimate PoF (mutually exclusive to the condition mentioned above), you got 70.
If you had the maximum character slots when you bought HOT deluxe, and then bought the ulitimate PoF, you got 71.
So it’s possible to get 71.
…..which is kinda bullcrap.
There should be no limit, or everybody that met the condition for having 71, should have 71.

Well, honestly they should be banned outright, as well as the players’ accounts they played on (if the “and alts”, doesn’t include them, that is).
I am confused as to the purpose of naming and shaming these players though. Giving them infamy by placing them up for all to see here is only feeding their narcissism. I hope you guys reconsider and ban these players outright, and let them slip namelessly away.
This isn’t a hard jumping puzzle. Even the most difficult ones are easy once you actually give them a try.
It’s hilarious that you’re complaining about this…then got through it.
For the next JP, I want to see checkpoints removed, and all mesmer ports/teleport stones disabled!
The last two Eastern White Mantle catapults can not be destroyed during the White Mantle attack on Noran’s Homestead event. It stays permanently at 4/6.
I’ve seen this happen each time I’ve been in Lake Doric. Waves…and waves of Mantle/Centaurs. All dropping loot, non-stop. It doesn’t end until the server resets.
Not a good idea to squeeze your fanbase right before an expansion hits the market.

The real question is: Will Gail get her froggy back?
Here you go:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest#Notes
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5ak0bp/halloween_blc_chest_discussion/d9h5a6f/
There is an in-game message stating, ‘Duplicate, account-bound unlock detected. Item has been replaced with free keys.’, as well.
Well that information should be clearly posted on the gem store or the official pages. The wiki is maintained by the public, and reddit is not a binding announcement format. But, good to see at something’s out there.
Editing takes forever so I’m just going to make a new post.
As rare as Black Lion Chest Keys are as drops, I’d say getting two Keys to replace a duplicate would certainly qualify as an item belonging on the Rare or Super Rare loot rolls.
I’m always thrilled to get the 2 Keys.
I hear ya….the forum looks great, but runs like crap.
Keep in mind that key drops in game (and their availability to buy with in game gold) are a dodge by Anet to skirt gambling laws. When you are buying these with cash, it’s not a great compensation to get them returned in compensation for a rare duplicate item.
Anet will need to change this before I buy them again. It’s rotten as it is.
I corrected it. The gw2 forums are taking a literal crap right now, and taking forever to go through.
You still aren’t accurate on the comparison. The bank access is a trash common drop.
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
As someone who tries to get all the seasonal items: You get 2 back.
And I don’t see how that’s offensive. Should I ask for key back everytime I get a bank access, just because I have the permanent access?
It’s gambling. It’s nice that they’re giving us 2 keys back.
Your example doesn’t apply though. It’s not cogent against the statements I’ve made.
The bank access is an ordinary filler drop, that isn’t taking the place of a higher level item.
A true example would be if you got another permanent contract, but because you already owned it, a key is given back instead. Would you be happy with knowing you hit on a rare loot table and simply got your entrance fee back?
Of coarse you would not.
If you look at this critically, there’s a solution in your comments, and my reply. Ask yourself why you wouldn’t be upset getting other permanent contract? We both know that it can be sold or given away. Make all items from the BLC trade-able.
What happened to me is no different, except my lucky RNG hit was unfairly taken away from me.
I think that a reroll on the rare table would be reasonable in situations like this.
It’s only the only fair solution aside from making every item trade-able.
If you only received one key, which is doubtful, you can contact the CS Team for the additional key.
If you find the mechanics associated with opening Black Lion Chests offensive, then it might be suggested you cease opening them until mechanics are more in line with your desires. They have changed to be much more user-friendly.
Good luck.
Where is the return rate of keys on duplicate items stated? Or stated at all? Even more so, why is it doubtful? I’ve searched around, and it seems one key is what people are getting.
Care to give me your source on this? I would like to see it.
You got exactly, two keys, what you are supposed to get when receiving a duplicate account unlock.
Many try and try for the flavor-of-the-season item with no luck, at all. You got it twice.
Consider yourself lucky.
Another rare account unlock should take it’s place. Getting a single key back (or even two) is offensive.
Realistically, you used one key to get the item. Getting two back is more than fair.
And yes, you can argue that you used X amount of keys, but you still only used ONE to get that duplicate.
Well, no. We are talking about a single key. The forum is crazy slow, so you might have missed my reply.
The BLC keys are sold on the premise that you can get lucky off of the RNG. They are selling you the chance of getting something worth more than the key. Getting lucky shouldn’t give back the single key. This needs to change.
Getting a rare duplicate item replaced with the key is not ok. At least, if a duplicate item is detected, an item should be replacing that duplication of equal worth. A BLC claim ticket would be a good solution, for instance.
This whole encounter with the chests is reminding me why Anet’s gambling items are not the way to support their income. They aren’t being operated fairly.
Actually, it was likely one. My haste in the irritation saying it was two.
Still….. a duplicate rare item should re roll on the rare item table. Not just go “Meh, you’ve already been lucky before”, and getting a key back.
It’s like playing roulette and getting your number again after winning, and the dealer saying….uh sorry, you’re already won. I’m just going to give you your bet back.
This is wrong and it’s not cool.
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
I’m feeling a bit ripped off here.
I bought a bunch if keys, and opened a few BLC chests. I was pretty happy to get one of the new Golden Zephyr sets.
I was pretty unhappy to get it again, and it turned into 2 BLC keys in my inventory. What the F.
I understand that it’s a rare drop, and I can’t trade/sell it, but I have to say this is a bit of a slap in the face. It’s worth more that two measly BLC keys……….. come on Anet. NOT COOL.
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
Pugged it on level 25. It’s fine. No nerf needed.
Last night EBG was outnumbered for Dragonbrand, and there was a queue listed for the map. lol
Isn’t TC the unofficial role player’s home server?
….might explain a lot.
So I wouldn’t rely on the wiki to answer the OP’s question, nor would I assume it (or the devs) are mistaken — someone needs to do the research and someone needs to update the wiki (often not the same people).
There lies the problem then. You can’t rely on the wiki to be accurate enough to trust without several sources confirming the salvage. You also can’t rely on a single someone to do the research on such a rare drop from a particular item that’s somewhat gated.
….they might just have really bad luck, and their confirmation bias kicks in to state that it doesn’t happen.
I don’t think the Blood Ruby Pendant does. However the Jade Pendant and possibly the one in Draconis Mons might. The Jade Pendant doesn’t drop Unbound Magic when salvaged.
Well, if that is true that’s a good example of the wiki being wrong and or the devs overlooking the salvage mechanic.
Wiki:Salvaging items bought with Unbound Magic will award 500 Unbound Magic.
I killed the person once, they killed me once, and then they took to just running whenever I showed up. With all that was going on on the map, I decided it wasn’t worth trying to chase them down all day.
I chose to report it because this is the sort of stuff that Anet uses as a justification for keeping rewards slim or participation hard to get. If this sort of behavior is rampant, there will inevitably be changes that ruin things for the rest of us (see: Decay).
Yet worth your time to not only report it, but make a thread about it.
IMO, if what this guy is doing is bothering you to this degree, take the time to kill him over and over. He’ll get tired of walking across the map. IMO, there’s nothing wrong with what he’s doing. The game mechanics provide YOU all the tools to counter it.
If I had to guess, he actually killed you more than once, and you got mad.
I think the OP is looking for this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Salvaged_Excellence, which only acquired from Ascended Amulets.
Indeed!
All I want to know is if the Salvage Excellence is possible from LS season 3 amulets. The primary concern is that they do not. This concern is drawn from the fact you get 500 unbound magic back when salvaging these items, due to a different salvage table from normal ascended amulets found elsewhere in the game.
API data for the Fire Orchid Garland:
https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items/81169
API data for Wynne’s Locket (that I personally know has a possibility for the Salvaged Excellence):
https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items/67898
The Garland has additional flags “NoSell” and “DeleteWarning”, but aside from the stat choice section, I’m not sure where the guaranteed 500 unbound magic from a salvage comes from, or how these amulets differ otherwise in salvage (other than what could be explained directly from the item ID number itself).
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
Why aren’t you killing the runner or the afker (depending whichever team you’re on)?
But seriously, if Anet didn’t take action on the players mass farming themselves in the WvW jumping puzzle, why would they care about this?
Also, I don’t believe that anyone (besides the one or other whale, maybe) buys infinite gathering tools for every character, most whales still expect additional value for their money. It’s much smarter to buy shared inventory slots. Also, if you give each character Advanced gathering tools with 250 uses, you will hardly ever run out. After all, your play time is split up between 70 characters, how much time does each get and how many swings can you do in that time?
How attached is a player to 70 characters? I guess I would just delete one I never use to free up a slot. Other games give you much fewer character slots, it looks like you are collecting characters like materials, that’s probably not what the designers intended
Well, I guess I strain my soup through my teeth then.
It’s not about the play time on each character. I like to divide up my storage by character. I can’t buy anymore bank slots, and I’m not one to throw away items or investments.
It’s a pure nightmare to use alt accounts in this way, login in and out, shuffling money/items sucks.
So you’re saying we are on a quest!
Suddenly the salvage confirmation of GW2 items becomes more interesting than the Fedex missions that Anet donkey slaps us with constantly.
Either that, or the great guild wars quests are actually getting a developer to answer a simple question.
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
I really don’t care one way or the other on this subject. That being said, if/when they ever remove the character limit (if they can) they need to add the mechanic that removes players from the end of jump puzzles and puts them back at the beginning. Kind of like how in Auric Basin they kick you out of Tarir when the meta starts.
No reason people should be getting even the current limit of characters worth of free loot per day. Or, they just limit the number of times people can open those chests per account per day.
As long as any reward is once per character, be it chest, nodes, or whatnot….. those people that have multiple characters are entitled to whatever it may be for each character they own.
A flaw to your logic is also people like me that have more accounts than most people have characters. I’m a top paying customer, and I expect the same rewards as anybody else for the game assets I have. You sound a bit bitter to be honest.
The limit is silly. They are literally throwing money away. I know there’s more than a few people with full character slots.
I’m stuck at 69, the fact that there are people with 70 shows it’s an artificial limit.
Well, yes and no. I’ve got XP scrolls and tomes piling up to the ceiling. I’d like to use them!
Not to mention the money I shower on Anet. $10 a slot, unlimited harvesting tools for each of them….. I dont want to buy a new account everytime I feel an itch for a new level 80.
69 (or 70 with the HOT glitch) characters isn’t enough. I’d appreciate the opportunity to buy more. I never really understood limiting customers access to these. They aren’t cheap, and those that enjoy alts would prefer them to be on our main accounts.
Unlimited character slots please.
I’m not looking for a drop rate. I’m asking about a drop possibility.
The reason “real” WvW players hate EotM is they can’t figure out how to stop falling off the edges and dying while running in their pro WvW blobs. lol
Gimme Wars 2
Seriously, stop it already. Players shouldn’t get easy access to everything just because they want it. Some people enjoy looking for the rare or expensive items. It gives them a goal to work towards.
It’s also bad enough that Anet routinely gives away event items at cheese it vendors. But that’s another side of the gimme coin.
Yes, but the fact that it does refund that 500 unbound on salvage tells me it’s a different item compared to the vanilla ascended amulets.
Which means, there’s a separate salvage table. A super low chance at the salvaged excellence is better than no chance, which is why I’m asking. If the chance is the same, I’ll keep salvaging them.
This is the kind of thing I need an Anet staff member to address. I thought I’d try here before I wrote up a service ticket.
So, I was really lucky to get one off an amulet I got from the Silver Wastes, but I am curious.
I noticed that I salvaged a few Fire Orchid Garland bought from the merchant in Draconis Mons. Each time I got 500 unbound magic back in addition to the regular miscellaneous salvage material.
I got to thinking…
Since the 500 unbound magic is not something I got (at least remember getting), from the regular amulets acquired/salvaged in the Silver Wastes, is there a separate salvage table for these items from the LW3 areas? Do they have the same chance at getting the Salvaged Excellencies?
I’d hate to think I’m wasting my time trying on these.
The amount of mats you get is REALLY low.
I bought one and I am disappointed by the fact you can’t share it with your guests and insulted by amount of mats it provides, given its gemstore price.
Change the way this item works ANET! Let us select the daily item it provides, and have it picked up at the sign post in the instance, instead of getting it mailed. Let guests access it too!
If the option were available for others to use then I would be happy with this.
That change would make me happy with it as well. I understand why it shouldn’t be, with the mats being directly mailed to you, but it should be a collection made inside the home node. This whole idea of getting it mailed to you without setting foot in the home instance is a silly concept.
It needs to be changed. And while we are at it, make that collections treasure chest usable by guests too. The loot is pretty weak, nobody is going to get rich off of sharing access to it.

I must have missed the part where it’s written that you must hit the ticket cap each week. lol
The OP is disingenuous in bringing up these points (based on his posting history). It’s clear the motivation is to try and get a change and make it easier to obtain the rewards from a game type he does not enjoy.
Now to the contrary, these rewards should be scaled up in difficulty. Increase the WvW rank requirement to unlock any of the rewards. Make it impossible for anybody that doesn’t want to play the game type to achieve.
To see people complain about not being able to achieve the top tier rewards by not participating to the same degree as others is silly. Imagine if back in the GW1 days, people came and complained how it’s impossible to unlock a gold trim cape because they didn’t want to engage GvG to the degree necessary to earn one? This is the exact same thing.
The population was destroyed well before then when XP was removed.
Tomes were compensating just fine for XP being removed, and the population was fine before the PiP system.
I think eotms should have pips. I mean why not? Th pip system was designed for spvp tournaments. Likewise there are no tournaments for wvw, yet you get pips for it. Might as well give them in eotm too since its about as relevant as regular non tournament wvw play.
It should not only have PiPs, but a full scale rank reward. The fact that Anet only offers partial participation rewards in EotM (in terms of rank points) shows the unbalanced nature of their considerations.
As it stands, they killed the map with unbalanced rewards skewed in favor of the 4 other WvW maps.
(edited by Firebaall.5127)
The decay changes are cancer.
Defenders/roamers are punished even more for playing supporting roles. They shouldn’t have to be at some commander’s discretion to receive participation credit for playing their chosen roles.
Get rid of the changes, or figure out how to reward these vital supporting positions.
No, it shouldn’t, if ‘you’ want WvW rewards then ‘you’ should play WvW.
And there’s the joke comment of the day.
Before the PiP system, I’ve witnessed more cohesive “WvW play” in EotM than on EBG. WvW players have a problem thinking they are elite players, and that the game type is some sacred mode. News flash: It’s not.
The PiP system has destroyed the population on EoTm, as people that once enjoyed that map are now faced with the choice between getting the new rewards or playing their preferred WvW map.
Running around in a blob or roam ganking players with some broken condi/invisible crutch meta build is about all WvW’s mode is about. Get off your high horse.
10:1 is a reasonable rate.
100:1 is not.
1000 tickets for 100,000 badges? That’s a silly ratio.
Grey market key seller.
Might work, might not. Don’t complain about your account getting locked out from using an upgrade key that has questionable origins.
Boosters are expensive in the gem store, and a celebration boost is generally a higher than average buff. That being said, sure. But at double the price of other boosters.
2H duration (as the others)
200 gems for 1
900 gems for 5
3200 gems for 20
I say INCREASE the rank requirement.
Or, make another tier of it that’s legendary grade WvW armour. I’d like to see a set of legendary Diamond Rank WvW gear.
we’ve put in the time to get where we are. You’re starting out late compared to most WvW vets and nothing is preventing you from putting in your time to get where we are.
Well, there is something. A sense of entitlement…. The OP doesn’t want to put the effort into getting what they think should be handed to them on a silver plate.
