Why bother when you can’t possibly have a chance against 1v1, your pet doesn’t work and you are derided constantly by other players as “oh another Ranger, just great”.
Ehm…1v1s are one of the few things rangers are good at. Sadly we are forced into 1/2 diff builds and most of our traits are useless/misplaced.
Is english that hard to learn? English is the most commonly used language for a reason: it’s easy to learn (plus is a beautiful language). I know quite a lot of ppl who learnt english by playing online games. You guys can do the same.
I do. The “new” skin (which is not new at all anyway, it was displayed correctly in the hotm) is much more realistic for a shortbow. I really like the longbow version as well (in fact i have it), but it was disproportionate for a shortbow. Now i know there are female models with giant swords and humans with charrzookas, and in fact they are horrendous. That said i would have liked a bit more ice on the shortbow skin.

Ye i understand your frustration. They should make more skins available, they should let the players choose what they like the most. The tra. stones system is bad imo, is just another way to gain money out of the gem store, and not a smart one. Players should be able to change their items’ skins freely, like in warhammer online (just an example).
Anyway a solution could be letting players use longbow skins on shortbows and vice versa. A friend of mine has just made the corr shortbow only cos he likes the new skin (and i’m planning on doing the same). Ofc he wouldn’t be happy at all if they reverse the bugged skin back. Being able to use the longbow skin on the shortbow would be a solution.
They will never do this. Do you know why? Cos it would make too much sense.
It’s sad but i believe writing suggestion on this forum is just a waste of time. I like how you guys are so passionate about the game. I like this game as well ofc and i partecipate in forum discussions etc, but every time i do this i feel like i’m wasting my time, trying to improve the class i like but i know deep inside the devs don’t care at all about what i have to say.

Btw i have just tried this out with a friend of mine on his thief. One ds=dead spirits. Lol imagine in wvw or even instances with aoe dmg everywhere. Do the devs even play this game? If you want the spirits to be at least playable (not strong or op or awesome, just playable) make them invulnerable. It seems is too hard to understand….

In GW2 looks is everything to me and honestly i have little joy of playing atm because i dont have my favoured weapon anymore

The new one is much better tbh. I could agree the longbow version is more impressive, but guess what, it’s a longbow not a shortbow. Bows is this game are hugly cos they are unrealistic and disproportionate, at least the corrupted shortbow looks like a bow. Most people’s aesthetic sense is flawed, they simply go for the most impressive or expensive skins just to brag. The greatsaw is a clear example, same for the volcanus. I’ve seen so many rangers wearing the cultural t3 (clearly designed for a thief) only cos is the most expensive skin.
If you want your little char with a huge unrealistic weapon with a dazzling effect is totally fine. Just remember there are other people who don’t see it the same way. I think a net should add an option in game so everyone could choose the skin he likes the most.
I also do not support placing traps into the wilderness survival line as it is supposed to be a defensive line. Doing this would force people to choose between offensive and defensive traits and that is not supposed to be what the tree is about.
What you seem not to understand is we are already forced to choose between def and off. Actually we are forced to choose def, we don’t even have a choice.
I totally agree with awe extender the 2 traps traits should be moved to ws tree. This way trap specs will be much better and viable (actually they are viable even now, but if you guys really think traps is the best spec we have and cond bunker>power bunker then you are simply wrong).
Tbh i believe moving traps into ws tree is one of the most important changes this class needs atm.
“De gustibus non est disputandum”. I like the “new” fixed skin much more and i’m planning on getting it, i just need to see if the string is bugged or not. I know some ppl prefer huge disproportioned unrealistic weapons but that’s just a preference.
They changed corrupted short bow’s skin……now it looks like an icy wood stick:/
Ahah i posted a bug report about this. Let me know about that…i think the shortbow looked exactly like the corrupted longbow didn’t it? Now is it smaller and shorter like it is supposed to be? I can’t believe they fixed this.

Ahah i have just wasted 20 mins trying to do this stupid combo killer kitten. Ofc i only managed to get 8 kills out of 10. Then my daily resetted. This game only deserves to die tbh. This patch was total kitten (as usual).
That’s really strange tbh. I’ve done lots of wvw lately and this never happened to me. This looks like a bug to me, not sure tho. There’s no legit way a ranger could disappear every 5 seconds even if he was using a siamoth.

Oh anyway a good thief can kill a good ranger (depends on the spec ofc, but if the ranger is specced right it won’t be easy at all for the thief).
A good ranger can beat a good thief and make him run away, but will hardly kill him.
This in wvw, spvp is a diff story.
How is it the only decent shortbow in the game? I used it for a bit, but it didn’t do much for me. I felt like it was something only a Sylvari would understand. :P
Nah my ranger is human. I just really like the living bow skin. Is well detailed and fits the ranger class. Plus is made of wood at least, i mean most of the bows in this game don’t look like bows at all.

Yep it’s definitely a bug. It’s weird tho cos it doesn’t happen with every bow. For ex my eir’s longbow fires ok while my ghastly longbow is bugged. Like there were 2 “basic” longbow skins.
I used to believe the pirate shortbow skin was the same as the longbow’s one. Even the wiki says the same thing: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pirate_Needler
But today i noticed that’s not true, i think it’s a bug. Just go to the hotm and check the shortbow skins. The pirate shortbow is definitely shorter and different from the longbow version. Sadly the pirate shortbow u get in lion’s arch looks exactly the same as the longbow. So ye, another bug.
I’m not 100% sure about this, but i think the corrupted shortbow is afflicted by the same problem (the shortbow is supposed to look different from the longbow version, but it doesn’t).
Combo field whirl effect and when combined with a pet swap Zephyr burst that also lands a 12% vulnerability in high speed being three of them.
Ye keep telling yourself that. In the real gw2 a warhorn is simply a better weapon to use as oh with 1h sword (if power specced). Or dagger/torch (if cond). If you want a combo field with hs just use your leaps or ask a thief friend (if your not solo) to spam cb.
Whirling Defence is the reason I use an off hand axe and don’t want it changing to anything like warriors 100 Blades, Whirling Defence is not sub par and is perfect for killing other rangers and more importantly, dumb thieves.
100 Blades is only any use when timed with Frenzy. If you really want burst for it, time it with your pet swap with Zephyr’s Speed or Quickening Zephyr, that’s one extra option warriors don’t get.
I find it comical that skills I consider vital to my build and success are considered subpar or not viable but I’m also expected to believe that ranger is utterly broken and useless.
And you are using an axe oh instead of what? Wd is only decent cos 90% of players don’t even know how that skill works (yes even rangers). Pos is way worse than wd, pos is actually really bad. I don’t need wd at all to kill bad thieves and even more so ranged rangers.
Its unique though :P Since you don’t see any Rangers with legendary GS. All I’ve seen is Kudzu and The Dreamer :P
Idd dude idd, still i think the only good looking legendary for a ranger is the howler (kudzu is fine on a female char, too bad the string is bugged).
Same for the cultural t3 armor, clearly designed for a thief. I believe lots of ppl simply go for the most expensive skins, even if they look bad on their chars, just to brag. Hey probably someone actually cares about it. No offence intended.
Nah there are actually 7 body types.
The average guy with a bit of chest hair.
The average guy with deformed waist.
The skinny loser with no muscles.
The average guy with more muscle definition and shaved chest.
The ripped guy with chest hair.
The ripped guy without chest hair.
The deformed flamingo with huge upper body and skinny legs.
The body shape i was talking about is a bit bigger than the average guy with a bit of chest hair, but not as big as the ripped guy. This body shape is definitely not available in the character creation.
So i was farming materials in southsun cove and i noticed a tourist on the beach with a body shape not available in the character creation. This body shape is definitely bigger than the first one from the left but not as big as the last ones. Also has less muscle definition. I’m quite sure there a character in the order of whispers storyline with that body shape as well. Soooo why isn’t this body shape available? I mean is it only me or females in this game have much more choices like faces, hairstyles, body shapes?
I don’t want a skinny character but the “big” body choices available are a bit too big for a ranger and fit more a guardian/warrior imo.
Anyone who invests and wastes points in to the pet to “get more damage and bring up a weak point” is an idiot. It will be weak, even with full point investment.
Dude you have no clue on what you are talking about. I might agree the pet survivability is often bad (expecially in dungeons and wvw) but the dmg is not low at all. Of course you have to choose the right pet. Oh btw ravens burst can be amazing.
and it stays alive in high level dungeons? I am pretty sure I read that in high level fractals etc, the pets won’t stay alive.
Ye that’s a problem. Who knows i might be a bad PVE player (which i doubt, but since i hate pve it might be), but the pet system is terribly designed for dungeons and high lvl fractals.
But ye short bows look terribad in this game. Lol they look like toy bows, i think that’s what Dante meant with his post. Sadly in pvp sb is just better, much faster, a good evade, an interrupt and a poison. With a lb you are simply too slow, the weapon is only good for hunter’s shot, barrage and pbs.
Depends on the situation. In pve ye hs is usually much better. Hs is also better in pvp if you have to defend a point but not only that, it removes cond from your teammates as well, it can be used for combo fields etc. They are just different.
Troll didn’t heal you instantly, it’s useless in critical situations.
Define “critical situations”. With troll u most of the times you have to use the heal before the situation becomes critical. Also if the ranger is bunker specced with a decent build a “critical situation” means 3 or more ppl are chasing you. In this case if those ppl are remotely decent and the ranger doesn’t have to defend a point the only way to survive is to kite them…dropping hs on the floor (ye it heals you when u activate the skill but not enough) is not really a smart idea.
The 0/0/30/10/30 build is a build where the ranger themselves (you) are relying on conditions for damage
Not really i have exactly 300 cond dmg from ws tree. I don’t really understand why most rangers think they have to spec cond dmg only cos ws tree boosts your cond dmg stat. Ah i have nothing against cond specs if only i didn’t have to go around with 16k hp at best.
Tbh i hardly see duels in full 5v5 servers. Usually if someone is looking for duels empty servers with 2 or max 3 ppl in are the way to go. Why do you think some ppl join almost empty servers? Usually cos they wanna duel. I do it all the time when i hot join, i don’t care about glory anyway and running around taking points is just boring and quite stupid. And no, this is not sanctioned by anet, and i don’t see why it should be.
Nah i think the only quivers in game are the ascended ones. But tbh they are quite cheap now, i got mine for less than 20 golds (i already had most materials tho).
It’s not like i’m happy with the situation. I remember anet said every class could be affective with every weapon set and playstyle. Clearly they lied. But tbh it’s not only a ranger problem.

Condition builds are somewhat ok, still i can’t find a setup that completely satisfy me.
A new player joins the server and is told: “Dont kill anybody, just cap / recap”
Ahah happened to me yesterday. Joined a scenario with 2 ppl in cos i was looking for some duels. Lol as i joined one of them told me to cap points without fighting. I killed them over and over till they quit.
Pvp should be about fun, not about glory rank. Ranks are a bad idea in the first place. Imo.
There’s no “best build” m8. Depends on your playstyle. But yea as a ranger if you are not using 1h sword you are doing it wrong. The autoattack is not bugged, just the weapon is not that easy to master. Offhand choice depends on your build, usually warhorn and torch are best options imo. Secondary weapon can be 2h sword but in my experience a ranged weapon is good idea, i usually use sb. I don’t like axe at all as main hand. Axe offhand is garbage in pvp.
