Corrupted Orrian Epaulets graphical bug

This bug appears only on the male version of the armor (since female version is different). Basically while the character is running or even in combat the epaulets look deformed. This is annoying considering this armor is probably the best looking light armor in game. The screenshots i have attached explain this bug much better.

I doubt that. You can’t counter something you don’t play against. I mean it’s not like there are so many necros around in tpvp (quite the opposite). But ye this is stupid and must be fixed.

Beastmaster Ranger Can build extremely tanky while having no impact on the pets damage. Coupled with the huge amount of cc it makes playing this build totally overpowered (my opinion here) while not relying on any kind of player skill but spamming 1 and evade skills while dodging anytime possible.

Ye but tbh that’s true for every build in this game. There are no hard to play builds imo. Take the bm ranger for ex (that’s what i play the most in tpvp)…i’m not saying it’s hard to play, quite the opposite (i’m not one of those “no wayyy my build is hard to play” phantasm mesmers), still you can tell the difference between a good and a bad ranger. Good ones rarely spam evades and dodges, use interrupts at the right time, set up burst using pet f2 etc. But yea this kind of builds forgive mistakes more than others.

Mesmers are pretty frustrating to fight. They require constant target switching and the phantasm burst is very hard to avoid when surrounded by clones and a mes dancing in and out of stealth.

Even if they are technically not OP, they are annoying to fight by design, which leaves players wanting to nerf the frustration if not the class.

Ye that’s pretty much it. I hate the class since beta. Sadly it’s not only a mesmer related problem, this game has way too many effects and animations, mesmers are just the main source of chaos. Nerfing the class will be a bad idea, since basically all mesmer specs are counterable and therefore somewhat balanced. There’s nothing to nerf here, it’s just a terrible designed class.

Tecnically your not a bunker, there are no points to defend in wvw and even if there are, you will be zerged anyway.

Anyway as someone has said rangers rely on too much passive stuff, pretty much like mesmers. That’s why i think these two classes are bad designed. AI based specs shouldn’t exist in this game. I think bm spec is counterable (like every mesmer spec), but this doesn’t mean is well designed.

Sure mate why not. It’s quite simple actually. There are 2 good weapons you can take as offhand: wh and torch, the second is the best choice for cond specs, the first is better for power specs. Someone might say: “wtf and the dagger?”…well i don’t really like dagger that much mostly cos as secondary set i use sb or gs so basically i have to make a choice, so warhorn. Hunter’s Call is quite good, decent damage, nothing spectacular but still good. Call of the Wild is a must, combine it with rao and you will have fury every time you need it, also it grants might and swiftness. The last one is really important for mobility (here again combined with rao and birds you can have perma swiftness while in combat). Another important thing to keep in mind is warhorn grants those buffs to your teammates as well.
Again i see lots of rangers with soth. Imo that signet is only worth taking for the active ability. My raven crits like a baws with f2 and soth. You can literally burst a glass cannon down so fast he won’t even notice you coming (and this with def gear).

World vs World is supposed to be about large groups of people fighting.

Cool. Sadly this doesn’t work in a game like this, with so many animations and aoe spamming. That’s why big fights are terrible. And that’s why wvw is terrible outside of small scale.

WvW DOES = Zerg fights. The problem is that you seem to think “zergs” are a bad thing. You can demonize the term all you want, but in the end of the day, zergs are nothing more than a large group of people working together towards a common goal. Sorry you hate teamwork in a large scale team-oriented game. There are other PvP options available to you, and I’d suggest you use them.

Working together? Lawl. You mean pressing random buttons and spamming aoe around without even picking a target. It’s just a deception actually…they seem to work together, while in reality they are not. Probably like their neurons. Are you one of them?

What build are you guys using runes of the forge on.

My spec is power based, not condition.

I also have some hesitation with forge runes because it’s a whopping 60 sec cd triggered randomly when you might actually not need it. Most fights I get in are protracted and resets happen often, in which case you only get some extra toughness most of the time and that’s it.

Depends on your spec. If you don’t have lots of vitality that might be true. In my experience if my hp bar goes under 50% that means i need the prot bonus, and that has saved my life many times.

TL;DR: Dont wanna be a bunker, re-roll thief and spam 2, or is there any burst (but not quite glass) ranger builds?

1) Bm ranger is not a bunker, is basically everything at the same time.
2) As a thief you don’t have necessarily to spam 2, i spam 3 for example (seriously i think the thief is far from op atm and it’s defo not an easy class to play).

You can burst as a ranger, even with a “bunker” (as they call it) bm spec. The problem is most ppl here think condition specs are the only way to play as a ranger.

Absolutely, forge are the best runes. The 6th bonus alone justifies the choice (i don’t use burning anyway). Luckily i don’t have to farm for them in spvp…

I love Healing Spring — it’s a very underrated heal vs. TU.

Wvw is full of bad pve players who basically are too scared of dying in a 1v1 or small scale fights. That’s why they zerg, that’s the only way they could win or achieve something. I can’t believe they find zerging fun, sorry but i can’t believe a person could be so braindead to like that senseless aoe spamming. They will never fix this it’s just not possible. Lol it takes them months to fix even minor stupid bugs, imagine how long it’s going to take them to rework wvw totally. Stop dreaming (or stop playing wvw) and start zergingggggg.

Scepter has one of the (I think the, actually) hardest hitting single-target auto attacks in the game. It just needs to be sped up a bit.

Scepter is amazing. When i play my guardian in spvp i always run zerker/valk sword/focus and scepter/torch or gs and scepter/focus(0/5/30/30/5, shout based). The auto attack is quite bad that might be true but the immobilize is a must, exp in 1v1 or small scale fights, it’s important to set up your burst and to avoid being kited. As a zerker guardian you can survive very well (using your blocks and inv properly) but for a short time only, so basically the faster you kill, the better, that’s why i think the scepter is necessary.
Dps guardian is really strong and underrated imo.
In wvw my choice is usually gs and scepter/focus. I hate wvw with passion and i avoid zerg fights but aoe spamming is often necessary there (gs).

My ranger (my main and pretty much the only char i play in spvp) is human. My guardian is human. My thief is asura. Tbh there’s no big difference (i find asura animations much cooler tho, and ye they are a bit harder to detect). Anyway i totally agree that charrs and norns are way bigger and that’s definitely a disadvantage. Also their animations are always evident and therefore i find them way easier to counter.

I know Anet said it was bad cus people “couldn’t react”, but IMO it was perfect and everyone should stomp at that speed naturally.

Absolutely. It was much better back then. The old quickness stomp was awesome. To be honest i had never realized how bad ds was untill they nerfed quickness stomps.

Would be c0000l if a dev replied to this thread. I really want to know their opinion on this subject, like:
- we know downed state is a total fail in wvw and promotes zerg but we can’t rework/fix that cos we don’t have time to waste on this…we are too busy creating a new green quaggan backpack.

I almost always win in fights with my ranger. Why? Skill. A mesmer beat me in a 1v1 last night (you know who you are, great fight). Do you see me crying for a mesmer nerf? Of course not. I got outplayed and outbuilt, pure and simple.

It’s just your perception dude, sorry but there’s no skill there. I play bm ranger since release and is a broken spec since day1. Lol i remember when ppl complained how bad bm tree was. Good times. Also all classes in this game are fairly easy to play but 2 of them are way too easy: ranger and mesmer. Npcs based classes.
I used to join empty servers in spvp to duel other players on my bm ranger. I got so many pms “dude your awesome”, “what’s your secret”, “ranger op”, “haxxx”. My secret? Spam short bow one and sword evades while my ravens were killing the poor guy. Definitely superior skill level lol. That mesmer killed you. Do you know why? Cos it’s hard for your pet to follow the mesmer due to its many teleports, stealths etc; expecially if you weren’t using a bird.
The ranger is the only class in this game that can spec full tank and still do lots of dmg. Pet mechanic is bad designed. Has always been. It was implemented too late and probably (almost certainly) superficially tested.
Now you can go back on your bm bunker ranger and keep telling yourself how skilled you are.

This mode called “World versus World”, not gang vs. gang, 5 vs. 5 or something alike. It’s all about large battles, large maps, large populations, and about ways to manage them. Game of small scale encounters is sPvP thing, and it shall stay that way.

Absolutely. Too bad the devs failed badly at that so your “large population” fights are terrible and most players detest them (yes, i’m sure about that). Also spvp has only 1 game mode and, again, most players do not like that mode, so yea if you wanna play small fights without running around capping flags wvw is probably the best choice.
Oh btw gang vs gang sounds c00l. They should change the name.

Because most players like following their zergs with their zerker gear, and tag as many enemies as they can to have higher chances of getting loot bags and rallying?

Or because people running around with 2 friends would rage quit and /uninstall if a solo roamer could actually kill them instead of downing them and watch them res each other time after time after time?

I play organized WvW since first BWE. There is NO way to keep all your guildmates alive inside large enough enemy zergs for long time. Stuns, immobilizes, pulls, knockdowns, stability dispelling, constant heavy AoE – ppl will begin to fall. Rally allows us to pick them back up, regroup, heal up, and make a new charge. Remove downstate and zerg warfire will become AoE-fest with only one rule “you have more numbers and more AoE – you win already”.

Nope sorry what you are describing is a typical zerg vs zerg fight. You don’t play “organized” wvw…you do play in a zerg spamming buttons and following your commander. That’s not “organized” wvw. I’m not saying your bad i don’t even know who you are. That’s simply the only way to play in a fight like that…so much aoe, so many effects, pulls, knockdowns, lag…it’s terrible. Fights like that shouldn’t even exist in this game.
But hey your right removing downed state in wvw is not the only thing to do. They should NERF AOE (oh wait they know aoe must be nefed they have already said that…ofc they did nothing, as usual). If they nerfed aoe this game would be awesome…lol imagine all those baddies running in a zerg without even calling a target, there’s no way they could kill a small organized group. On the contrary the small group will kill all the zergers one by one, picking the right targets. And if a player of your party dies, there are many skills in this game to ress dead players.

I think he means that he doesn’t want WvW to turn into that corny nerdsports crap.

Ye well i used to play spvp a lot. Not anymore, i got bored. I don’t like that capture the flag kitten at all. I really expected the devs to put a new game mode in this game…meh ofc they did nothing. it seems to me to many pvp ppl are trying to turn the huge army v army(yes army’s have siege as part of there weapons of choice) fights that is the very description of wvw into 1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1..

Wake up this a game, and should be fun. Gw2 has way too many effects, pets, clones, teleports etc, anything but small scale fights is TERRIBLE, just pure aoe spam. Lol just go on youtube and watch some zerg vs zerg fights (even from “organized” guilds)…most of the times they don’t even call a target or even target someone…they just spam aoe. Add the huge lag and what you get is just a terrible gaming experience. I cannot believe there are players who like this…most of them are just bad so they need to hide behind the zerg cos they are too afraid to die. They (the devs…) should encourage small scale fights cos they are much more fun and virtually without lag.
Also this game is basically already a 1v1v1v1v1….. expecially zerg fights, what all the players do is spam aoe dmg, spam boons, spam aoe heals, spam aoe pulls, spam everything. Lol there are often so many red names around you can’t even see the enemy players.

personally hate pvp and would stop playing wvw if they changed it to be just like pvp

Downed state is fine. You’ve many ways to prevent reviving. If you can’t, you maybe tried to solo too many alone or your zerg just isn’t finishing ppl fast enough.

Downed state is not fine. Lol at “you maybe tried to solo too many alone”. The reality is way different sadly. In real gw2 a small group is always disadvantaged no matter how good it plays and guess the reason…yea downed state. As a solo player there’s no way you can stomp a player in a group of 4 or more…there are 2 options here: the first one is they simply revive their stupid teammate, the solo-guy won’t stomp the player fast enough (he could use quickness ofc, but still…); the second one is they destoy the stomper spamming random buttons or submerge him with aoe if stealthed.
Ofc you can mention tons of solo thieves and their c00l videos on youtube against semi-afk players and stuff like that. Well, this won’t disprove my statement. Downed state is bad in wvw and only benefits big groups (=zerg).

There are too much traits and skills that rely on the downed state, it’s too much work to take it all out of the game. I would be more than content with just getting rid of the rallying.

Really? Too much work? Maybe you are right. I suppose it’s time for them to stop working on quaggan backpacks and start doing something useful for this game.

Still the same. Still terrible, sadly.
Basically you can form a small group and roam around, this is fun (sometimes) but be ready to run away from the zerg cos your small party will have no chance. Maybe you can down someone, but you won’t stomp the player, you will simply be submerged by aoe spam. That’s basically what wvw is…aoe spam. Bigger fights are pure lol. There are so many effects around you can barely understand what’s happening.
Rarely you might be lucky and find another small group of players (who most likely will try to run away and hide into the zerg). Good luck.

in a zerg fight… mesmers don’t run clone builds because the clones die before they are of any use.. mesmers suffer the most when it comes to zerg fights… especially since our confusion got kitten slapped by ANet last patch.

Yep that’s actually true my bad. I didn’t mean 40+ ppl anyway, just anything >5 shows how bad designed this game is. Oh btw that’s not a mesmer-only issue tbh, many classes have problems in zerg fights (i don’t give a kitten about that tbh, zerg fights should not be encouraged anyway, too bad this game does exactly the opposite).

I mean just create a team with 5 asura mesmers, all of them identical, with long similar names…now gl at targetting the real ones. Ofc that’s not an issue cos this setup is not really viable in the current pvp capture the flag kitten-mode, but this is a clear reason why they are not introducing new game modes. Why? Cos a different game mode will show how bad designed this game is. Too bad for anet most players have already realized that.

Sadly that’s true. The mesmer class mechanic is c00l, and that’s the reason they designed it this way, cos it’s c00l. Imo this game has way too many effects, way too many uselessly confusing things, way too much aoe spam. This is not a game breaking problem in 1v1 or really small scale, but it’s directly proportional to the fight size. That’s why wvw is so bad, it’s pure chaos. In bigger fights you can’t even understand what is happening. Mesmer mechanic contributes largely to this chaos, just like necro wells/circles spamming. Mesmer clones, minions, pets, bring absolutely nothing to the game and just make it messy.
The typical fanboy anwer is always “just l2p and target the real mesmer”. Yes after a while recognizing the real one is very easy and that’s way i can’t really call the class op, cos it’s not. But this does not mean is well designed, cos tbh i consider its design terrible.

If you want a gunslinger build, try Condition Dagger Pistol. Don’t bother with P/P.

They both suck, tbh.
Anyway, p/p set is somewhat playable. You can do even decent numbers in pve or wvw (mostly against afk players). Too bad with this set you are pretty much forced to spam unload to do damage, and this means you lack ini for utilities or evasive skills (this last part is not really a problem since this set has NO evasive skills at all, so is not a good idea to use it as a main set in any form of pvp).

to be fair, that lightning strike that you so eloquently screen shotted, won’t be noticeable most of the time. If the lightning effect was more prevalent I’d for sure agree that the bow looked great.

True but it’s still the best shortbow for an asura thief. If my thief was human, i’d prolly go for arachnophobia as well, or whisper’s secret short bow.

My asura is a thief. I have a similar issue with a pistol offhand (only with p/p set). But 1h weapons like daggers or swords main hand are fine. Are you sure this bug does happen with every armor? Try changing your gloves (just an idea) and see what happen.

Just to clarify that bug is not charr-only. This happens with every gender and race and only if your body type is quite lean (doesn’t happen with bigger body types).

My body type is the medium default size. I’m not using anything that would resemble a lean body type.

True but your char is a female. The charr female default body is leaner than the male one. Anyway, as i said, this happens even with medium sized bodies. With really lean bodies that bug is just terrible and much more noticiable (tbh is really noticiable on your char as well).

Does this happen always? I suppose your character is an asura. The head/torso problem happens only while loading, it’s not a big problem tbh. I don’t have any problem like that with my weapons, but i heard about a similar bug with some guardian weapons like scepters and some gloves, like t1 cultural gloves, am i correct?

I can assure you this bug happens with every quiver and every race.

Oh, no you don’t! Don’t go making the programmers think that! The quiver is just FINE on my female Sylvari (if a wee bit high on the back.) If they adjust it closer to the body for ALL characters, I’ll have feathers sticking out of my head.

Tbh this happens only cos that quiver was designed for a charr. There are clipping issues with those feathers also on asura characters. I totally understand your point, but most back items are bugged nonetheless.
As you can see the quiver is bugged on my lean thief (huge gap). My ranger has a medium sized body and the ga kitten maller {fail filter is fail} (it’s still there tho, you can see it with both quivers equipped). My guardian has a bigger body…and the quiver is not bugged (or, to be precise, it’s still bugged, but you can’t see the bug…).

I’ve held off on purchasing the quiver for my Charr ranger, because I noticed this in the store preview.

Other back slots look fine – guild backpacks for example look perfectly fine on my ranger.

I find it funny that the original quiver was placed on a Charr character, yet Charr players seem to have the most issues with it

I’d be annoyed to the point of wanting a refund of some sort too.

Ye actually it’s odd but some back items like the guild backpack, the new jetpack or those silly quaggan backpacks look fine (well, almost, if you pick the smallest bodies the bug appears even with those items). I can assure you this bug happens with every quiver and every race.
Go make, let’s say, a human char with a really lean body and see for yourself. Then make another human, this time with a muscular body. You will notice no gap between the quiver and your back.

Not at all. Thief dmg is terribad if not offensive specced. With that gear all you will do is troll ppl around. Only a ranger can spec full bunker and still do dmg, just cos pets are ridiculously op in pvp (small scale).

I understand your frustration. That’s why i haven’t crafted an ascended quiver for my thief, and i hate that cos a quiver would look awesome on him. Just to clarify that bug is not charr-only. This happens with every gender and race and only if your body type is quite lean (doesn’t happen with bigger body types). That bug has already been reported (link 1) and i explained better the issue in link 2. I sadly doubt they will fix this, it’s just how back items are designed (or bad designed), this bug happens even with stowed 2h weapons lol.
But hey cross your fingers they might fix this, who knows. Imo they should fix bugs like this asap, i hate this kind of bugs with passion (i’m a perfectionist, and i doubt i’m the only one).

Lol anet buffed my ravens health. Lol i suppose the devs have never fought against a good bm ranger. This class is so strong now it’s almost comical. This patch actually improved an already op build and did nothing to bring other builds to the same level. I’ve not changed traits or gear on my ranger in like 5 months.

The new Rox’s Quiver Set, it’s not close enough to the body, especially when viewed from the side, on both NPC and player models.

This happens with every quiver in game (also with other back items and even with stowed weapons), not only the new rox’s quiver. This bug doesn’t appear with bigger body types, only with lean bodies. Those items are designed the wrong way, it seems like they are at some fixed distance from a point, not where they should be (attached to the back). Basically if your character’s body is large enough, it will “fill the gap”. If it is too lean, then the bug appears. As you can see this is way worse on my lean asura. I’m not crafting a quiver for this reason

The offhand pistol in a dual pistol weapon set is dislocated, not in the correct position. The difference is really noticiable. Also the animation of offhand skills is also bugged. During those animations the pistol offhand moves completely out of the hand.

Basically every weapon set with a pistol and a different weapon mainhand/offhand is bugged. It looks like the character is wielding as offhand exactly the same weapon he/she has as mainhand. If the character has, let’s say, a pistol mainhand, his/her offhand will have exactly the same appearance, like he/she was wielding another pistol in his/her offhand. The bug occurs when the offhand weapon is different and one of the weapons is a pistol. It’s not easy to explain this, so i’ve taken some screenshots to describe the issue better. This is a really annoying bug considering the fact it’s related to the whole thief class.

Armor: Inquest medium armor
The armor can be bought from Peacemaker Srimm in Lion’s Arch with tokens obtained at the Crucible Of Eternity dungeon.

I’ve found two more bugs related to the inquest medium armor.

First one (PVE version of the armor only): the helm icon is the wrong one. The Furnace Helm icon is displayed instead of the Inquest Helm one. The pvp version of the armor has the correct helm icon displayed. I added 2 screenshots to illustrate the issue.

The second bug is a minor texture bug/clipping issue. This clipping issue is visible mainly when the char is out of combat. I added a few screenshots to explain the issue.
This second bug is related to asuras only. There’s no clipping when the armor is worn by other races.

Issue: when i hide my hood some “lines” appear on the neck. Texture bug.

This graphic bug is quite annoying tbh. It’s only visible when the hood is not on/hidden, but it bothers me a lot.

Mesmer ofc just spam spatial surge like a boss while your npcs do all the work for you. Mesmer is a hard class. It’s unbelievable how most players can be so bad even while playing a mesmer.

Might is like 10 sec, fury duration is only 5 secs. Tbh runes of the pack are probably the best choice atm (unless you are using a healing power based build or tank build). They also have 5% chance to grant nearby allies might, fury and swiftness when you are struck. 5% might be not that much but i can guarantee you it does proc a lot.
