Thinking about just going back to wvw

Had a full dire build in BW2 that worked well. Will probably dust off my old dps gvg gear at some point. But for starters will be running full dire with either perplex (yeah I know) travelers or undead.

Only 52% unlocked on reaper right now.

Trying to access new Maguuma zone. Someone said you access through Silverwastes.

Went to Silverwastes for first time, ran around whole zone, unlocked some waypoints. Found a zone entrance I could not access because I haven’t done some quest.

Asked in map and never go a clear response.

So: how do I get access to the new zone?

It is beta, and maybe this is a l2p issue.

but in my skills slot I see that there are offhand shield skills, but mouse over shield in inventory and it gives the “unable to use by your profession”. As for utility skills, In the skills pane I see some nifty utility traits, however I am unable to change from the default beta character ones?

Even though Reaper has potential it still needs a few “fix ups”. In my opinion, here are some notes I took while playing.

Please for the love of god remove Death’s Charge because I can’t say how many times I flew off a cliff because I misclicked. Or bring me back the original Death Shroud.

eh, this gives the necro a type of mobility/leap/charge that didn’t exist for the class previously, can be used offensively and defensively.

2 seconds is a huge cast time for the new elite, drop it to 1.5 seconds at the very least.

if you are running Path of corruption and corrupt boon, a boon corrupting terrormancer, I would take Path of Midnight to reduce CD on dark path. Vital persistence isn’t really helping your condis. If you were power and were life blasting like mad then sure.

just my two cents, but the ability to use death shroud skills 2, 3, and 5 more frequently is >>> being able to hang out in DS longer doing minimal damage with 1, and 4 skill.

The above build should work well. I would add in though that perplexity runes are the best rune in wvw. If you can afford them then you should put them on your armor. I’d also recommend dropping at least one or even two of those utilities for walk, or spectral wurm. When your facing a bigger group your going to need to outlive them so you need to be able to avoid focus, while focusing down one player at a time with your group. I personally run wall, walk, and wurm (WX3). Because wall is a wonderful spacing tool and it has a 2 second fear, and wurm/walk also allow you to create space. I also drop the dagger for warhorn because with traited walk you can get perma swiftness. This is pretty much what i run when roaming:

Perplexity is great, I have a dire set with perplexity on them, shelved them recently and using an undead set. To the OP: if you have the $$ try out perplexity as well.

Since the OP stated he plans to run with 5-10, I really think he should keep Epi on his bar IMO, but what you state about the spectral stuff is spot on. It is all about finding what works for you.

couple different takes on this: I started out all Rabid, then added more and more Dire in over time.

I didn’t fill in sigils and trinket infussions etc. but this is basically what I run in a small man roaming guild.

you could drop spectral wall for walk (go back and forth between those two depending), could swap out weakening shroud for Hemo and try that out. Pretty run of the mill build. Path of corruption is absolutely amazing if you haven’t figured that out already.

as for dire vs rabid… ehh early on I ran around with maybe >50% crit chance but currently I have around 30%.

I have messed around with different runes, but if you are going tanky what you get with runes of undead is pretty nice. I have friends who have just gone all in Dire everything and I might go that way, but after crafting my Ascended rabid weapons I don’t feel like grinding out another set just yet.

Oh, I have sigil of torment and might on staff, stacking condi on scepter, and might on dagger.

The added tankyness of dire is very noticeable. Having 2.9k armor >26,000 hp and >2,300 condi damage is great. (with full stacks). Yea you lose some crit proc damage but a dead necro does no DPS

What’s actually needed that a guardian provides?

- Condi Cleanse?
- Healing?
- Stability?
- Point Control for kiting a zerg?
- Hybrid of Dmg + minor heal / boon / CC?

Maybe you don’t need to roll a guardian, maybe you need a Staff Ele? Or maybe, you need a Thief as all your group really needs is Stealth + some Deeps? Maybe you need a Warrior’s Stun Locking and Shout Healing.

Small man roaming as a guard:
1) Massive Burst Dmg w/ Blind Spam Support: 2/5/6/x/x
2) Incredible Sustained Healing, Condi cleanse: 4/6/4
3) Healway (0/0/2/6/6) for Condi Cleanse, Boons (stability/prot/regen), Healing & Blinds. * Really is the best support small grp roaming build*

Staff, Hammer, Mace/Shield = all good support / point control.

Sword/Focus (or shield) + GS = Burst Dmg and Blind Spam.

Condi cleanse and healing is what I am focusing on. Currently running Clerics armor with Soldiers runes, a mix of Clerics trinkets and Zerkers, and Zerker weapons (will probably change to sentinel). I tried 4/6/4 last night using “Chris’s” updated build, and tonight will run the 2/6/6.

I started with GS sword/focus then swapped to Staff sword/shield. Tonight will probably try Staff Sword/Focus.

Is going for Nomads gear gonna drop my dps so low that it just isn’t worth it?

Small 4-5 man roaming guild, we run condi Mesmer, power engi, venom share thief, and maybe… well group makeup can change a bit but anyway.

I was looking at running a Shout build with Soldiers, running Staff and either GS or 1H Sword plus shield (?), just looking for any input.

My mains are a Necro, Mesmer, and a thief, but we were hurting for support and I volunteered myself to roll a guardian, just hit 80 and uhmmm yeah….. looking for input

like others said, if you are zerging power is the way to go. If you have the gold, just try both dire and rabid.. I don’t know how many different sets of dire and rabid armor I have kicking about

currently running Dire armor and trinkets with rabid weapons, crit at 30%, >29k armor, 26.5k hp, >2.3k condi damage (with full stacks and food). I hit hard and can take a beating
edit hmm looks like that was with outnumbered buff, so tune that down a little

seriously though experiment, the only real cost issue that kicks in is when you start toying with sigils and runes.

If you are on a budget then maybe: full set rabid with undead runes, full set dire with undead then mix and match…/shrug

Well, my personal excuse for reduced playtime this week is that I will be having knee surgery on Monday morning. I plan on playing -albeit less – throughout the week anyway, but will be in pain and heavily medicated… So when you see a Void warrior or ranger randomly run off cliffs, fear not… I probably just passed out on my keyboard. Hopefully this excuse is isolated to myself only as that would be a truly sad story if this is something that affects all servers in the same week.

Hope the surgery and the rehab/physical therapy all goes well!

On a side note, it is always puzzling to see how a server gets profiled based on the forum posts of just a tiny percentage of the actual people who WvW.

As for people taking breaks and what not, you gotta do what you gotta do, you guys pushed hard, though I am guessing pretty much everyone on Ebay and BP was less than impressed with our 4th place reward.

As for the PvE stuff in preparation for Ascended armor… I get that people are farming for it, but Anet adding yet another PVE grindfest that will directly influence WvW was quite the letdown.

We all know you never liked Kalkz, Evilzara. That’s probably why you told Sekz where his zergs were when they were on NSP. Not that you didn’t do that with your OWN zergs as a recruitment tactic.. but yeah. I’m sure you had a good reason for not liking him anyway, right?

I’m glad you showed up to this thread. It reminds us all why we enjoy putting BP in the dumpster so much.

Celeras, after we left Ehmry Bay, we shared our videos with any server that asked to see. Otherwise, that one snippet from the video would have been nice to spark a little drama. Unfortunately, if you actually look at the video, it has us talking about dumpstering Kalkz while in EBG, then it has Zara asking us to hunt down a commander in another BL who wasn’t helping the situation (probably an Os golem rush). In which we lied and said we were in BP BL and LA BL.

There are a lot of vids with Zara in our conversation. With the promise of giving us open field fights, we’d leave the BL, usually to retire to sleep. We never actually got fed a zerg with their hands cuffed behind their backs. She would gather anyone she could summon, and use cheesy tactics to try and get us. Other times we would purposely lie to her and say we went to sleep while hiding offline just to get a good gank.

Most of this happened while in NSP since by 12pm EST it was a dead server that had no presence to defend anything. So once we left a BL, stuff would fall. It’s old news.

It was nice to see you posting on the forums, but once I saw you try and start kitten by bringing up old news, I just didn’t bother to post or read any of your post. But since you decided to bring it up again, I thought I’d clarify things so you can move your drama down another road with more creativity.

Side note: Claude, we had fun fights at NW Hills till the BP pugs bailed on me. Then you all jumped me hard, haha.

I run Traveler runes so 90% condition duration with the new toxic crystals and I run focus for more control with chill (I am in love with focus). I do sometimes go back and take Terror occasionally.

We (ZoS) met MM for a little 16 vs. 16 action. It was supposed to be a best of 5 encounter. ZoS kicked MM butt in the first 2 matches. We were accused of having more than 16 even tho at least 4 MM came and counted us 3 times. During the third battle MM just brought in about 30. Couldn’t fight us fair, that is why it is sad.

ZoS, is more than willing to meet for those sorts of encounters if anyone is willing to have equal fights.

Is my understanding correct in that your guild had a scheduled 16v16 GvG vs MM and after two losses they zerged you with a basically double the agreed upon numbers? If true than that is pretty sad and shows about a 3rd grade level of sportsmanship by them.

Or was it more of random open world roaming encounters and on the third encounter they brought more? If that is the case then, while a bummer, all is fair in love and war and all that….

do not put a sigil of earth on your dagger if you have one on scepter. They won’t double proc, I would look at sigil of burst or the +10% bleed duration.

hopefully some more chime in with input.

as for stacks, I just have a totally separate set of rabid scepter/dagger for double stacking condition stacks (AKA with double stacking you only need to kill 13 wolves or whatever to get 25 stacks)

just tried this out, I have roughly the same stats, still have rune of Necro (for the fear duration), not quite willing to commit the $$ for rune of Lyesa just yet.. I play wvw so I improvised a bit cause not everything translates 100% imo.

running with rare veggie pizza master tuning XLs for condition duration and damage boost. Fully stacked I have 1,907 condition damage. With defense against guards stacks I have a bit over 22k health and 48% base crit. Which could be higher but I run with a ranger a lot who has (forget the ability) that boost my crit chance quite a bit.

I have a sigil slot open on my dagger, and I went for sigil of Earth, not sure if this is the best choice, but hey more bleeds. edit forgot the earth and weapon swap overwrite issue, put on a sigil of burst instead

anyway: I spent about 30 min in eternal running around. Stomped an engi I “know” I would not have been able to kill using my old school Nemesis Terror build, and then back to back killed a Mesmer and the guardian who showed up at the end of the fight.

I have watched most of the video and I gotta say, yeah it is long, but even if you don’t play a condition build it is probably worth a watch just because of all the things he touches on.

I am only just scratching the surface of this build, but man is it solid.

Norn elite racial is great for mobility, asura radiation field and pain inverter are great. Look at the racials.

meh, the lag/hiccups/glitches on BP bl right now is just soul crushing.

been using your build, slightly different gear but the final stats are pretty close. I ended up with 670 condition damage and 46% crit chance without any stacks. Thinking about stacking condition damage instead to see how that fairs as having 66% crit chance from stacks might be a bit overkill. /shrug

If I go that route, I will let you know how it goes.

Just wanted to say great build, I am really enjoying. I mainly play Necro and my Mesmer and Thief were leveled in an attempt to better understand how to fight them. Found out that I really enjoyed the Mesmer.

Gone through several different builds and this one is suiting my playstyle well…. and I feel “cleaner” than I did with my last build which was a “cheesy condition troll build” as they say
