Please don’t use Gimli as a reference. He isn’t an MMO character, he doesn’t abide by those rules. Nor does Lannister.
Frankly, I think you should play a warrior with a build that doesn’t have much weapon-switching, like sword-axe and then a bow in the back for keep defense.
Besides, you want fantasy realism in a world where dragons can be killed by light arms fire?
My friend went out of his way to make his femcharr adorable.
It worked. She’s like a big cuddly kitten with a two handed sword. I was thinking of making one myself, but I don’t know what class.
Exotic dyes…
Imagines hot-pink-reflective-rainbow-tinted-night-dye
Yeah, I could go for it.
Oh, look. Another stupid cat-moose trying to assert his masculinity in a pitiful attempt to conceal his inferiority. I will personally find you when we enslave your race, put you into a golem and make you a 10-copper shoe-cleaner.
…And what kind of name is ‘Winter day’? Humans need to rethink their idea.

I agree with the OP. It wouldn’t be much to just add a green [RP] tag to Tarnished Coast/Piken Square’s names.
Not to discredit the current state of RP. I’ve had amazing RP on TC unofficial or not. I recommend taverns for finding the most basic RP, but if you want the really good stuff at a easy to find place, I’d recommend going to Guildwars2roleplayers.com.
Yes, OP. Rangers are that useless. Everything you can possibly, possibly do as a ranger, another class can and will do better. All you do when you join WvWvW as a ranger is take up a spot designed for a more valuable class.
WoW made the MMO genre what it is today, whether we like to admit that or not. It was the first popular MMO that truly drew attention and set down the foundations(to be ignored or not, as GW2 ignores quite a bit of Actiblizzard’s ideas) for other MMOs to be made. Mana is merely a piece of the game.
No, I don’t like WoW, but it popularized the idea of mana.
I personally think it stupid. You might as well give warriors a dehydration meter in combat and force them to cram a bottle of Asurafina down their throats to keep swinging. I respect how it forces spellcaster(Or in my odd example, warriors)to time and calculate their moves and form strategies, but I just don’t like the idea.
I’m tired and brain-dead. Take my rationalization for what you will, I’m not trying to make GW2 seem like WoW.
GW2 is a return to what MMOs were like before WoW .
WoW was made to satisfy the console gamers that were becoming aware of MMOs like EQ and UO and were whining that they couldn’t play them like a console game.
True Mana has been around since EQ if not earlier, which WoW took that idea and used in their game.
The gameplay mechanics of this game are perfect the way they are. If you want Mana go somewhere else
Please, please, take the time to read my post above before you make a snide comment on my response to a response.
I’d prefer they gave traps a utility buff. I don’t mind their weakness because we have so many and they are so useful, I just wish that spikes had a slightly larger range and a slightly smaller CD.
I don’t use traps much. I do a lot of dancing and kiting, but my racial radiation field has proven to be invaluable in killing enemies, and if someone gets too close I just pain inverter and dodge through them, then P.B shot into their back. Assuming they are brain-dead enough to just keep running at me. If I meet anyone of another class(Necro aside) who knows what he’s doing, I’m pretty much dead. If traps were a bit more sleek and effective like the thief’s, I’d probably use one instead of radiation field.
I was about to go “This has been done to death! Go away, vulture!” but then I read the post.
I’m amazed at the fact that you aren’t desperately picking at the corpse of a dead topic and pleased as well. This is actually a good idea, +1.

My opinion of Orr: why I haven't been logging in

Can’t say I agree with you.
1. “Everything hates you”
-Believe it or not, the ravenous undead are less interested in feeding on each other than they are you, a warm, fleshy vessel of edible sustenance.
2. No variety!
-Dead is dead. What, did you expect a wild, cheery rainforest of colorful parrots and happy go-lucky quaggan with the occasional odd zombie with it’s own unique name such as “Lord Aurious The Third, Undead Noble”?
3. Waypoints contested!
-I know it is hard to believe, but a zombified island might just be filled with hostile creatures that pass time by attempting to devour the living and attacking their settlements and outposts. You know, attacking the waypoints.
4. I refuse to use the waypoints when I die!
-Anet should’ve made a zombification feature for people like you. If you want to die and stay dead on Orr, you might as well become a mindless sack of half-chewed meat like the other deads.
Because mana is a stupid idea that is only carried on in the name of copying WoW.
“Why don’t you make like a tree… And get out of here.”
21) Thou shalt not camp in the Jumping Puzzle, as you are in no way, shape or form contributing to the desperate assault your team is currently waging upon the Enemy’s fully upgraded Keep.
You throw around the word “Lacking” like you know what it means.
Play a Ranger, level it to 80, and try any one of the builds :P
I don’t mean to sound like a jerk, but try to play one of the unloved orphan classes for a change. You’ll learn to appreciate the things your warrior/mes/thief has.
Siege Towers is a horrible idea. Like mesmer portals, but affordable to a guild of warriors and thieves.
19k-25k hundred blades is okay… yet they nerfed pistol whip… I’m genuinely confused. Both root the character, both are channelled attacks, yet the guy with the heavy armour and high health gets to keep that ridiculous damage.
Confused.
2.) Ranger build
That would make sense if any of them were viable.
This thread will be ignored or shut down.
But to contribute so an overzealous mod doesn’t have the reason to remove my post…
Abilities:
-Killshot added to Rangers.
-Long Range Shot damage increased by 500%.
-The sun is now a boss.
- ‘Hax’ added as Ranger signet, giving them a 125% Speed increase and Noclip.
-You can now move while hitting enemies with a sword! Wow!
-You can now name your pets permanently!
-We have fixed the shortbow speed graphics error. The shortbow now has no cooldown to any of it’s abilities.
-Improved the Pet AI. The Pet will now attempt to play with you in an adorable manner in the middle of combat.
-We figured that warrior damage wasn’t quite good enough to keep up with the Necromancers and Thieves out there, so we’ve buffed Warrior damage across the board. Warriors can now stealth and get ‘Hax’ as a passive signet.
-Added a new mechanic to balance the PvE vs. PvP Environment issues. All characters will have a signet that negates all PvE mob damage.

Asura band together to form one Alliance. Said Alliance takes over the world.
The end.
The rangers deserve an apology Peters!
Can’t say I disagree. What kind of developer builds up hope just to crush it?
Just go warrior. Snipers who rely on silence and efficiency are punished in this game to a ridiculous extent.
21k+ DPS for a warrior with a rifle in one shot? If a LB ranger is lucky they’ll get 3-4k.
To think I had faith in and DEFENDED Anet…
Wow… Just wow…
There are almost no words to describe how utterly disgusted I am right now.
No, I mean it took my dog 6 seconds to even get started on his animation when all he was doing was following the enemy spamming 1. An induction timer//animation doesn’t take a solid six seconds, and if it does that’s ridiculous.
Finally, finally buffs to Rangers.
I hope
Jon directly states that fixing spirits, shouts and weapons are one of their main priorities.
Seems like a lot of us are forgetting about that, not to sound pointed. Don’t act like they won’t do anything— They will— Just hope that they do it right.
As for me, I just want a smarter Krytan Drakehound. I want him to remember his name, his childhood, I want him to have an education and several critically acclaimed novels and scientific journals, I want him to own a manor in northern Pennsylvania, to own businesses and a banking Empire. I want my Drakehound to be the dog that everybody knows.
…And I want him to do his intimidating growl thing when I tell him to. Five seconds after I order you to do it is not acceptable. Yes, you’re in the middle of your ‘1’ attack, but that’s instant too. Cutting it off for your special ability would be better for the both of us.
Stopped reading this after “Make legendaries easier to obtain”. They aren’t legendary if you can buy them at Wal-Mart for 3$ and get a coupon for Steak N’ Shake on your second purchase.
I have this lurking feeling in my gut that this patch is going to be incredibly underwhelming. I love my Ranger, I really do, but if she can’t keep up in DPS she’ll have to be put to pasture…
Laugh at them and continue doing what it is you were doing. You’ve won and you know it, and that should be a reward in of itself.

My friend can't see spiders.
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Frosty and Frosty Law Firm.4981
Only happens on his mac, his other computer is fine, and he can see everything else. He can’t see Jungle Spiders until roughly 8 seconds into them attacking him if he dodges and runs and roughly 4-5 if he lets them hit him.
He just started playing the game in Metrica Province.
Is this an issue with rendering, like ‘invisible zergs’? I’ve never had such a problem on a PC or heard of it until he mentioned it.
I don’t ‘dislike’ my ranger, I’m just a bit disappointed that my DPS is subpar to everyone else’s because I use a longbow and I can’t move when fighting because I use a sword and torch, which gets me killed a lot.
OP sounds like the kind of guy who would want Quaggan to have breasts. It’d be no different- Neither were intended to look like a typical humanoid creature.
Their genders are distinguished by bodily and facial details, not breasts, and that’s the way it should stay. As for clothes, the Asura don’t need ‘male’ or ‘female’ clothes- They wear things based on comfort, efficiency, benefits the clothes offer, mobility…
OP, please, please do us a favor and don’t make threads again. I mean, you probably are a nice guy irl, but this thread is… Ugh, this idea… Even worse…
Capes would be nice but I honestly prefer my book <3
It’s like a flashlight, plus my torch, so I’m always doubly prepared in the event of a storm caused by bubbles the water dragon.
For those of us that spent money, will you buy again at Christmas?
Posted by: Frosty and Frosty Law Firm.4981
If the christmas event is as fun and creative as the halloween one, of course I will.
Lunatic Inquisition was an ingenious idea. The costume I bought? <3 it.
Tarnished Coast for the server? I’ve seen one before but it failed due to lack of faith and social interaction. Eventually I was the only one representing.
Godspeed you magnificent feline. May whatever comes next treat you kindly.
Not a fan of time limits is all, I do every other jumping puzzle including the Eternal Battlegrounds one. Frankly, I think all the entitled whiners who want free loot should look at the giant naked norn who managed to complete the puzzle when they couldn’t.
Buffing longbow by 50% would be OP?
Yes, yes, you’ve never actually looked at the numbers that came up when you shot an equally geared enemy from maximum distance, have you? And you haven’t measured how much their rifle damaged your health in comparison after four quick shots in the timespan it took you to make two?
(edited by Frosty and Frosty Law Firm.4981)
Look at WoW-
You’re something elevated just above a meat-shield, doing the work for others so they can take the credit. Nobody knows you, nobody cares about you, your character has no personality or story unless you’re an RPer, and even then NPCs will obviously be unaware of this. Everything you do has literally no impact.
GW2-
You stop something tragic and horrible from happening, which will actually happen if you do nothing. Yes, the boss respawns ten minutes later, but that’s because the game isn’t single-player, which is why most quests on Orr are merely stemming an unstoppable tide or trying to keep the metaphorical floodgates closed. Other players shouldn’t be denied the unique experience of having their decisions matter just because you got to the boss first.
Skritt:
Racials:
-Solemn dullard. -50% precision, -25% vitality. 60% chance to break siege weaponry upon use.
-Knowledge in numbers. When around six or more other skritt players, all aforementioned debuffs are removed.

As usual, It’s a 1v1 of Tarnished Coast versus whoever their over-guilded pvp server opponent is :/
GW1 this, GW1 that…
The past is always going to seem better than the present due to the effects of nostalgia, unless you were playing just yesterday, and if you were, good for you. This halloween event was extraordinary considering the game’s age and it’s multitude of issues that made dev focus on the ‘fun’ side more difficult than say a ten-year-old game would’ve had. Half the dev team is still trying to fix the problems that make the game unplayable, not just small inconveniences.
Anet will listen to your concerns, so please state them in a kind and considerate fashion. Developing a game is difficult, taxing, thankless work. You work hard for a month to prepare an event, and all you see is people whining about what it didn’t have.
“Listen to the music in your head DANCE!” I love it.
I want a crab.
Just a crab. A durable tanking pet with good aggro hold and an activate block and AoE protection buff.
Corpse dancing, jumping and other humilation tactics -- When are they acceptable?
in WvW
Posted by: Frosty and Frosty Law Firm.4981
I prefer laughing at the corpses of idiots rather than dancing. Aerobics are okay too, though.
So many thieves…
Bam, you’re down. Invis AoE. Someone invisible finishes you.
Weird, right? You had full health just a second ago, and that thief was only visible for about a second before he could use his magi-poof AoE, giving you no time to use your downed-state interrupt.
I can generally accumulate 6-8 badges in the three hours I play a night, completely discarding the nights I can actually finish the jumping puzzle and 15 players aren’t camping the beast arena/dark room with arrow carts and ballistae.
Making over 12 badges a night and a handful of silver a night is fun, but it doesn’t happen often. I shrug at this, though. If you really want the vanity gear, grinding for it shouldn’t be a problem, especially with WvWvW being as fun as it is. And…
…I’m just glad there’s no ‘resilience’ in GW2.

I agree entirely, while most players will not buy from third-party sites, you have to brandish punishment to keep the other, slimy folk down.
Frankly, I think to go with that, there should be no warning. Poof, suddenly you are banned for X amount of days, anything from a week to three months depending on how much you bought. If you do it again, you are banned permanently.
It goes without saying that Anet should be incredibly precise about this. I’ve heard horror stories of people on steam being VAC-banned for hacking when it has been proven that they had never done anything.
In my personal opinion, pets are useless in PvP
in Ranger
Posted by: Frosty and Frosty Law Firm.4981
So fearing an enemy off a cliff, interrupting his casting with a pounce ability, bleeding, poison, blinding, chilling, cleansing of debuffs, etc, all at the push of a button… Is useless to you.
Excuse me, I need to call my therapist. I just lost my faith in humanity. Again.
