Will you find yourself face-to-face with Scarlet’s agents, or a much more insidious enemy?
Curiosity rising…
Fingers crossed its Mordremoth
It’s not.
It’s clear that Zhaitan is the only Elder Dragon. Kralkatorrik and Jormag and Primordius are all cleverly-crafted ruses of the Tyrian Illuminati, to keep the populace in fear of their own shadows until their nanoaugmentation projects can be completed. Come now, if they really existed, wouldn’t they be doing something?
There is no logic, there is no lore, there is only SCAAARLEEETTTTTT.
I’d prefer this over the current system any day. +1.
It’s a shame Anet doesn’t actually read the suggestions forum, right?
Yeah… Konig had some brilliant suggestions as well. But I doubt we’ll see such improvements to the Living Story. I just hope the team takes some of these suggestions to heart.
Oh, they won’t
They have a treaty with Lions Arch as it is. They have connections with Human bandits. It is not unreasonable that they could at least suspend the “war” with a cease fire till the outside threat was gone.
But that would make far too much sense.
SCAAAARLLEEEETTTTTT
I would like to see some consequences of our personal story choices. Everything always ties up neatly with a beautiful red bow, and I find that boring. Every quest ultimately leads to the same conclusion, thus making choices meaningless. And while there are a few choices that lead the player to do different quests, the player’s character remains the same, unchanged by any of the events. Various roleplaying systems have already improved on this concept, by allowing the player’s character to suffer severe injuries, like losing an eye, or brain injuries. Now of course it would require far too many assets to allow for such visual diversity, but the game could try and explore none-visual consequences: A character could be partially corrupted by one of the Dragons, due to certain story choices, or have developed a phobia due to some of the traumatic events in the story. In a good story, the player’s character does not survive all the events unscathed.
And I definitely want to see charm, dignity and ferocity play a bigger part.
I’d prefer this over the current system any day. +1.
It’s a shame Anet doesn’t actually read the suggestions forum, right?
Engineer
That’s your problem there.
whats so wrong with engi .
Everything.
Play one and you’ll understand.
- for example, what if one of them does die when the tower is breached?
That’s what I’m kinda afraid of. It’s like in all the war movies. The guy who always talks about his girl at home, or that they will all make it back, always gets picked off by a sniper of something. It doesn’t help my imagination at all knowing that Scarlet in going to be in the next patch, and she has had sniper training in the past…
I’m afraid Anet might actually make Scarlet do something villain-ish (the irony, I know), like kill off a liked character.
Of course she has sniper training. She has training in literally everything else.

I’m going to get one of those and walk around L.A. asking everyone: Are you my mummy?
Who for the win.
I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be the rare dungeon drop, ala the jetpack and monocle.
Yikes, good luck to us all then.
God I hope this isn’t the case. If they do, they need to make it drop a lot more, especially if they’re gonna remove it from the game like the jetpack/monocle.
Buy it off of the TP. I expect to pay something around 40g if this does end up being another jetpack/monocle situation instead of getting lucky enough for it to drop.
If it ends up being a story bonus, you saved some money.
I find that unlikely.
There have been numerous threads about this already.
Anet has not responded to a single one.
This topic is much like the idea of rangers becoming actually viable.
It really doesn’t.
Speaking of things that make other things into jumbled messes, weren’t you one of the people crying out in despair for mounts?
No I wasn’t. I simply supported the idea, I think they could work, depending on the implementation. What does that have to do with it?
A), Those are trends, not rules. Trends can change and will change. Secondly, these imaginary rules of yours were not ‘clearly defined’, nobody at Anet stated ‘Enemies will die this way and only this way!’. Enemies tended to die easier before. Now they don’t.
Something changed, oh god what. Quick, fire the dev responsible!
It is not a ‘mess’, because the enemies that don’t die as easily are obviously special cases, probably elites hyped up on stimulants produced by the tower. There aren’t that many of them and really, adding a mechanic that makes the game very slightly harder only enriches it, not scrambles it. If this is what it takes to set you off claiming all is lost to chaos and madness, the Scarlet storyline must have killed your sanity three times over.
B), I just find it ironic that you’re all for something that would make a literal mess of Guild Wars 2. It would break your imaginary rules on a level far greater than that Toxic Sorcerer taking exactly five more seconds to die.
I’m not a fan of finishers in PVE, and here is why: It breaks established game rules. It all becomes a bit of a jumbled mess.
It really doesn’t.
There were no established game rules. Just trends up until now. It gives the Nightmare Court the air of being the elite fighters of this alliance, shows off finishers and lends smarter mechanics to NPCs.
God forbid they change the mechanics every few hundred enemies you faceroll. That’d just morph the whole game into a pile of poo, wouldn’kitten (Rofl, can’t even say would it not in shortened format)
Speaking of things that make other things into jumbled messes, weren’t you one of the people crying out in despair for mounts?
As a warrior I take umbrage to being called “Aromatic”, pungent perhaps, maybe even going as far as seasoned, but aromatic was just hurtful Anet.
Should have rolled ranger. Only our pets smell, but we can stow them.
But never permanently. It’s tied to your leg at one point or another for the rest of your life.
You’re not allowed to be a lone ranger.
Personally, I think Mr. E is actually Queen Jennah, who is a dredge spy.
Hammer, the weapon with very slow dodgeable animations and not much mobility
You must not WvW. What percentage of warriors in a zerg use hammer? Enough said.
What percentage of guardians, eles and necros in zerg use staff? Anet, plz nerf staff, so much ppl use it, crazy OP.
How many rangers in wvw use pets? pets op pls nerf anet.
Don’t even joke about that. Knowing how Anet feels about rangers, they might actually do it.
Lorelei, I fear you’ve kicked the hornet’s nest.
Should the hordes of MRA text warriors descend upon you, die well. I will notify your next of kin.
I’m surprised there hasn’t been a dev comment yet. My problem with equality in the living story; more Asura! And no, not an equal amount, Everyone should be an Asura
Asura master race. Enslave the stupid bookahs.
Most of the game would experience lower temperatures, but frozen lakes and snow-covered plains would not poof over Tyria. Some of Kryta and maybe the northernmost bits of Ascalon maybe, but
Anet doesn’t really have a reason to not put seasons in once they have the time to do so.
Hmm… come to think of it there are quite a bit more female characters than male. Kind of annoys me, but I’m sure we will have a good male character in the future BUT NOT SOMEONE LIKE TREHERN.
Oh, no. Women are doing things. Quick, devs, make twenty men to do things. That way we have a nice, exact, 50/50, half and half, TOTALLY EQUAL ratio of men doing things to women doing things.
You have my sympathies, sir.
Im not sure im following. I’m just saying I’m sure there will be an actual good male character at some point in the future.
I misunderstood you, my apologies. I took the ‘annoyed’ part for the “I’M OPPRESSED AND OUTRAGED AT THIS TRAVESTY” reaction and responded with due sarcasm.
Forget what I said, my bad.
Give an inch and a mile will be demanded.
They should have imo introduced better a new npc, thats a thief, they are the true masters of poisons, not necromancers.
Marjory as a detective should have to deal with an other job, than making an antidote…
She should better deal with investigations for the krait, why they have become, what they became and what they motives are for their actions, thats her job as an detective and not playing the wannabe nurse for everybody >.>
A) Thieves are just denial mages that wear clothing for mobility and use dexterity-focused weapons. They’re not masters of poisons any more than rangers or necromancers are.
B) Introducing a new character? We’ve had enough of that. Anet is doing it right to continue developing the ones we have.
C) She’s Tyria’s foremost mind on poisons, as far as I know, seconded only by the Order of Whispers, who are probably also on the scene somewhere. Secondly, everyone uses poisons. Rangers, thieves, necromancers, the hylek race in general, the Inquest, bandits, etc. It’s a detective’s business to know about the most common ways to kill someone in the interest of case expertise.
D) It’s hard to do investigation on a tower you can’t reach for fear of dying due to a horrible neurotoxin filling your lungs. The easily forgotten step to solving a case is ensuring that it doesn’t kill you.
This is a sect of the Nightmare Court that is allying with them. By-and-large, the krait and Basketball Court still hate each other, as far as I know.
You’re character has the respect of their home nation, has helped defeat Zaitan, is involved in every major world event and killed thousands of villainous creatures, and can do just about anything you can imagine.
OMG!!! Every single one of our characters is a Mary Sue!!!
What a TWIIIIIIIST!
ANET, KILL OFF THE PLAYER CHARACTER ALREADY!
So Marjory is now an expert in poisons. You think Anet’s slowling going to make her into a Mary Sue to counter Scarlet’s Villain Sue?
idk…she is supposed to be some kind of detective right?
Some kind of expertise in poisons would seem to come with the territory.
She was already an expert in poisons, by assumption.
Comes with the territory of being Tyria’s best detective. Tyria. The place where everyone uses poisoned weapons/tools. An entire race(Hylek) revolves around them for survival.
I hope she doesn’t go the sue route, but this isn’t ample evidence just yet, in my opinion.
http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/heavy_list.php
And please, insult how I present myself more to validate your argument against armor styles in a fantasy MMO, I assure you that it helps your cause.
Thank you, actually. I’ve never really played humans or looked at their cultural gear. I’ve seen it on males plenty of times, but never on females until just now.
I apologize for offending you. What I said wasn’t necessary and was particularly badly worded. I hope to be able to avoid such mistakes in the future.
Edit: That’s a good list, thanks. It’ll be useful in the future.

Maybe you’re the kind of woman that prefers to show herself off and defy the laws of decency, but some ladies would prefer to look and be taken seriously.
Ah. The classic “i see some of a woman’s skin, i know longer respect her” stealth-misogynist faux feminism.
I’m not a misogynist, but you’re not going to believe me, Panzer. You’re obviously the type to make hasty convictions. Not that I blame you for the action of jumping at me, this is a pretty sensitive topic and I admittedly used stronger words than were necessary.
Let me break how I see things down for you:
I want my Nornfem character to have armor that wouldn’t result in her dying to an accidental scrape in the fray. I get that most people don’t pretend to hold their MMO character to any standard of realism, but for those of us that do, there should be options.
If that angers you, deal with it.
By the way, since this thread is made in regards to heavy armor, that’ll be what I’m referring to. Light armor and medium armor is for mobility and I really couldn’t care less about how open those two types are.
My problem is that the vast majority of the heavy armor is very open and appears simply decorative on ladies. “95% of the armor” is not conservative. Not by a long shot. Do I have a problem with women getting to wear cleave-y gear? Pff, no. I wouldn’t be on an MMO if I was… What did you call it? ‘conservative’, right? I’d have busted every gasket in my body once I saw Kasmeer’s outfit. Then I would’ve keeled over vomiting foam, curses and oaths.
By the way, I didn’t do that.
Are you getting the picture? I don’t mind the presence of cleave-y gear in measured doses. I’d just like more options for gear that isn’t.
I get that you want to be able to wear your armor to the moot and still look stunning. The option should be there for people who want to look like that, but the artists are making almost strictly cleave-y gear now. I had to think outside the box just to find armor that actually appeared to function as armor.
Anyway, I’m done ranting. You can call me mean words now.

You have my sympathies, sir.
Just kill off Scarlet, pretend she never happened, and bring back the interesting lore and I will stop complaining. Pinky promise.
This thread isn’t about that.
Get out.
So much… Baseless whining…
Just look, all living world heroes are female – Queen Jennah, Marjory, Kasmeer, Elen Kiel, Roxx and few more i already forget names.
And all male characters are Rytlock (didn’t even participate any party of Living world), Logan and Lord Faren (well, and Braham, but meeeeeeeh, he don’t even look like a man).
Let me guess: you feel oppressed and offended?
Hopefully with the great weapon skins and armor, they will see a lot of people buying gems, which will lead to “better”/more developed content in the future. I know the weapon skins got me to buy some gems this month, first time spending IRL money in a couple months.
I will never spend IRL cash on gems. I don’t support cash shops. If they want my money, they should release an expansion pack.
The cash shop is kind of how Anet supports itself.
It’s harder than you think to crank out an expansion, but it’s clear that anything I say won’t change your conviction of Anet’s… Not releasing an expansion ridiculously early…
GW2 doesn’t need the hordes of X-box sheep.
My alt is named: Researcher Dorrk.
Make of it what you will :P
Did you ever stop and think that in order to do the Halloween finisher achievment some people didn’t want to go into either WvW or the heart of the mists?
Sometimes when they implement things such as this it is to try to make the purely PvEers happy. Maybe deal with it for now and when the Halloween is over then complain. For now though I am sure many players that didn’t know how to complete the achievement will be happy they can finally do it.
This thread illustrates perfectly how people will whine and moan about the smallest things, like four second delays to kills.
I’d prefer there were just alternatives to the silly ones, like shadow-and-ice pistols as opposed to Quip, or a flail/flanged mace/something along those lines as opposed to The Moot.
Chainsaws and nail guns~!
The complaints in here seem pompous, knitpicky and uninformed
Do you realize the farming potential of a mass Krait area?
Go to the wiki and do your research on Shell Pouches dropped by Krait
And the two rare exotic skins that they are able to drop, how much they are worthIt’s hardly anything to complain about
The fact that it’s a farm is what there is to complain about.
Ever been a farmer? Irl or otherwise?
It’s BORING.
We want something new. Something that isn’t an obvious time burner until they can get their kitten together for new content.
I don’t know what your definition of decent is, she’s just kind of there, and as a Guild Wars 1 player, I will not accept any terms that say she is at all a worthwhile villian.
EDIT: i never really understood the Trahearne hate to begin with. I can understand similarities between him and kormir, but at the same time, the backgrounds were not comparable at all, Trahearne is perfectly qualified and, while not seen, it’s more than just heavily implied he’s earned that; not like he just went off and poked at a locked away gods magic construct thing.
people hate trahearne because he’s even more useless than a pile of wet firewood, he will constantly steal your credit and others ideas, while dieing to a common chicken as a legendary Npc,
he’s like magister tassi from the second part of the halloween story where you have to re seal the mad kings son, but for the entire story.
“Well, then who did seal this “Edrick” back into the reliquary!?" Demanded the researcher.
“It—One Magister Tassi—”
The researcher grinned at that. Asura supremacy at it’s finest. “…And?”
“The list goes on, Kaxx. In fact, this tablet is just a shard that came off of one of the walls. All of those inscriptions are single individuals that put the Mad King’s son back in his box.”
The researcher’s eyes widened. “How can we possibly keep track of all of them, which one helped the most, who actually—”
“All of them are the Pact Commander!”
“WHAT!?”
Release in China > Lore. Go grind and leave us alone.
Asians enjoy good stories too.
China has no problem with nice stories.
So long as you word them just right…
The fact that the Krait and the sadomasochistic psychopaths were able to sit down at a table and not stab each other within the first eighteen seconds of glaring damages my faith in their faction personalities.
I might as well call the Krait the scary Slavers and the NMC the Basketball Court now.
…Basketball Court
Oh, it was Scarlet? That makes much more sense.
They’re not going to do it. It’s been a year.
Kal, Ranger as a profession shouldn’t be tied to clunky, broken AIs. We should have a choice to use a bow without being a short-range stealth class or a heavy-armor class that is literally disallowed from using lighter armor.
I would enjoy watching the Charr war machine turn on itself.
I certainly hope he supports the renegades for this reason.
‘Hardcore’. That’s the kind of player that doesn’t stop for three seconds to smell the roses and savor the game, right? Or the fact that they’re not in an on-rails progression MMO for once, right?
Oh god.
So I haven’t played in a while, and I’m trying to get back into the game, realizing that I’ve missed a lot of the story.
Basically, I left after the first part of Living Story (refugees) and know they now reside in Southsun?
What of the Elder Dragons and such? Trahearne?
Consortium, Fractals of the Mists, any of the lore been explained for that? I thought it really intriguing.
Just wanting a basic outline of the lore following the fall of Zhaitan and how it all strings together so far, thanks!
Weeds, pumpkins and a lizard.
Don’t mention WoW crafting like it’s fun or actually good for anything.
It’s not.
It’s really, really not.
Rangers are fine in PvE, this isn’t 6+ months ago when they were bad.
Where have you been?
Ranger isn’t as bad as it used to be, but it isn’t good.
If you want a good class in PvE, play the Warrior, Thief or Elementalist.
Warrior, for example, has amazing versatility and sensible class mechanics. You get bang for your buck, so to speak. You can walk in any given direction as a warrior and find a slot suited just for you in the PvE/PvP world. In other words, they are everything the Ranger was purported to be but never actually became.
Wait, people use LB?
It surprises me too. Why would people willingly use a broken weapon outside of RP purposes?
The sad thing is that Anet has no plans to actually read these lists…
Let alone use them.
That said, I like the list. +1.
Likely using an exploit to get out of the map
It’s where the villager falls under the map, basically.
Don’t know how to do it, but I’ve seen screenshots/claims of being there.
Fear, Frosty, FEAR. Terror is Diablo’s domain, an entirely different game franchise.
Do you see that enemy over there? Yeah, me, neither…
My mistake!
Zero progress. Because I’m not going to waste my time on a poorly thought-out legendary system determined by luck and wealth and not devotion and storyline.
