I get called bad everyday. Mostly its the team as a whole doing bad rotations and losing the individual fights.
Most players point out the flaws they see team mates doing and not their own.
I also feel only 10% of the players are like what you described

For pve its only used to stack vulnerability and add extra dps, but its totally useless in wvw and pvp. Making it 1200 range would be a start so it can be fully utilized with staff ele. And the damage is too low to be worth sacrificing over another utility.
I’d like to see it on a 40s cd and 1200 range at the least

Hey man its our trait in tempest called Elemental Bling. It allows us to change amulets mid combat so most eles will have menders on and switch to marauders every 9seconds or so. I agree its completely broken

You don’t need boon duration. What you should be doing is overloading earth on pushes for protection and using shouts for more protection. Id focus on healing power instead of boon duration since your revs will help w that. If you dont run revs in pt you got bigger problems.

Running zerker is actually a good way to get good at it, however I wouldnt recommend to a beginner.

The biggest issue with matchmaking is it operates under the assumption you can pick up the slack for the 1 or 2 people on your team that can’t rotate properly. How many points you get in a match and how often you died should be a bigger determination of skill and mmr IMO

Condi mace warrior has obv more sustain than other classes.
Thief needs slightly less evade frames on their staff.
Rev should have some of its dps back (still waiting on mallyx condi meta for boonstrip)

Most eles dont take the stab. The biggest thing is obviously pressure. Force them to blow cooldowns and cc their water overload. Stripping their protection is important too. If your team isn’t completely kittened than focusing an ele down should not be that difficult unless the ele is good.

I’ve played an unhealthy amount of standard air/water/arcane fresh air, and have some mixed feelings.
Firstly, it feels really strong. The changes are very noticeable. It’s hard to kill and unlike before the patch, actually a threat when ignored.
However, the winrate just isn’t there. Like I and others said a couple times, the issue with fresh air is and always has been that it doesn’t bring enough value. Doesn’t have enough impact on a match. No portal, no stealth, no real mobility and bad to mediocre cleave. its +1 is average, since its damage output remains at the low end. Its strengths are survivability and almost impossible to avoid damage, same as always, but the survivability only really matters if you’re worth focussing in the first place, which you’re not, most of the time.
I think I’ve almost 60 matches played or so, and I’ve ranged from mid platinum to high gold.
Like I said though, it’s a lot better than before (perhaps better than ever). If you’re comfortable with being placed slightly below where you belong, it’s worth playing.
Fair points. As a duelest and +1 its decent, offering good survivabilty, but its still a relatively slow roamer. As far as 1v1 is concerned I felt that it was on par with most of the builds besides condi warriors and dh’s.
To be fair, it does play like a jack-of-all-trades dps build which is what anet wanted for ele’s. I feel pheonix on 10s cd and another 25% boost to air auto could do the trick

After playing with the changes, I just feel like s/f ele still isn’t sufficient vs. the alternatives (daredevil, revenant, or even burst mesmer).
The damage just isn’t there, and is almost completely reliant on hitting phoenix, which ends up being mitigated quite often thanks to all the invulns and free evades everywhere.
On other classes, if you miss your burst, there is max of 10s before you can go again. On ele, that number is 20s.
These changes move the needle in the right direction, but s/f ele still remains only unranked viable. When people only play meta specs, it just can’t keep up.
Been playing in ranked with no issues. Only had about 10 matches though. What build you using?

D/f is a better support option but staff is acceptable if you are good. When I have time I can help you w it in game. Can’t really teach how to be good at ele. Its all about getting a feel for it.

Those concepts are dated since gw2 beta when you could cast meteor while moving lol. 2 years after the game came out Anet went and decided ele was going to be a “jack-of-all trades” class meaning they can do a bit of everything, but not be the best at any of them. Its held true for some concepts but even that is a bit outdated since heart of thorns came out.

Hi, been really loving the changes so far. Here is a build that utilizes all of the buffs. Vamp runes is my personal preference (small dps boost and helps maintain health). Haven’t tested with diamond skin, but it might actually be the better option.

All comes down to condi managment. 1v1 its fine but once you get condi focused by multiple people you can’t cleanse 8 conditions at once. Blame anet for making protection readily available and not resistance.

This is my insight on why scepter dps just doesn’t work in pvp. Hopefully anet can get some valuable info on how to adjust.
To put it simply, the damage is too low the longer the fight runs on. Scepter has alot of trouble dealing damage consistently and will most often lose every fight where the other player has some form of sustain..
Honestly scepter works fine in pvp, except when facing guardians, druids and engis.
My advice to anet is to adjust scepter so it can dish out more consistent damage. Whether adding a trait that makes skills unblockable or increasing the dps of auto attack, please do something

1. As a channeling skill i disagree. Fire 2 and water 2 for dagger would cancel if you dodged.
2. I agree diamond skin needs a buff. With hybrid set-ups I would be happy if they removed the 75% health limitation.
3. Nope. The current attunement swapping is fine and argueably helps you manage your cooldowns. It also counts as a skill so it could make the healing signet op.
4.Its a nice idea but would be too similar to guardian trait. If it was implemented it could be added to soothing power or possibly even be added to fire traitline.
5. Fire and maybe arcane need buffs. I think its mostly tuning down other classes that would give potential to more builds.

My orginal build used water instead of earth. The main reason I chose earth is because my survivabilty feels better when i have lower cd on earth 4 and 5 and a free stun break. I felt having those and kiting in and out of the fight with superspeed was better than trying to skirmish on point.
I’d also like to state that from my testing the build is on par with every current meta build out there apart from tankier setups such as condi warrior and engineer.

Yeah i chose it because of the extra precision. Not really a requirement, however I would not use rune of the wurm because extra vitality is not worth the loss of power

Yup, it shouldn’t be to much trouble kiting them out while you heal and use air 3 to ensure you don’t get stunned. Biggest issue is if warrior is running fear me. I am also considering taking out stone heart for diamond skin since I rarely camp earth.

I for one enjoy pvp more with clerics amulet gone. Is it completely balanced? No. This “build diversity is bad” crap has gone on since the launch of the game when the fact of the matter is, there is more than one build available to use , however it all comes down to what is meta and what is not.

I can answer this question. Eye of the storm can be used to help your party get out of damage, however it is primarily used by the frontine to roll over the opposing players. Essentially the goal is to catch the enemy and make it so they can’t get out of damage by running over them.

Anet is more concerned with improving the game mode than what the players are interested in. From my experience a vast majority of players just want fights. Anet wants you to defend and take towers. Sadly, anet has succeeded mostly. Most players these days are happy with blobbing other servers down and winning fights by placing siege (which is fine to an extent).
I guess my main issue is I am unhappy that ANET has created a culture of casual wvw players and they think adding mobile cannons will make wvw a better experience.
I do give Anet credit for overall wvw balance. Though it could be better, in general its a fun experience.
Overall I just want to have the wvw team to have the same vision as the majority of wvw players.

Eruption is the only thing that needs fixing on staff IMO. Everything else has a cast time so it gives opponents time to react.
Shock wave is pretty unreliable too but I much prefer immob to a knockdown.

These kind of posts make me angry. I don’t want to flame you, but staff has always been top tier and the changes to dagger didn’t even make it that much more viable. Nothing but buffs and people still find a reason to complain.
I for one am thankful that ANET even tries given that they are never thanked for the work that they actually put into the game.
