Astrid Strongheart, Norn Ranger.
“I wish juvenile wolves were bigger”
I’m not sure if Heiltdo post was meant for you, Simon. Maybe he was talking to the OP, like I was.
I don’t think there is need for that…
I mean, I am really frustrated that one of my favourite weapons got a range nerf and that my pets now do less damage (though I mostly use them for buffs and for keeping me alive while downed), but it’s not like the class is literally unplayable. It is not.
It is infuriating, yes, since the last thing we needed was another nerf. It is really bad for PvE rangers, since nobody wants them running dungeons (we are still ok in pvp and wvw IMO). Believe me, I am really sad and disappointed, but I’ll try to stay positive and wait for something to change for the better. Meanwhile, I’ll keep using alts to run dungeons and I will level my warrior.
“You guys are whining because you are not pros like me. My build is awesome and the way you guys like to play is bad, and you should feel bad”
In the light of the explanations posted after my post, I’m editing it.
Alright, I get what you meant, now. It’s good that you found an alternative. I’m not changing my build right now because I’m afraid of spending even more money on new equipment just to have yet another build nerfed in the future, though.

Just dodge the pull
You can’t dodge on top of a pile of crates.
Of course you can.
If you don’t want to fall down, stand on the second highest crate, facing the top crate, and dodge forwards, hitting the top crate. You will still be high enough for not being hit by the beam and you will dodge the pull.
Otherwise, dodge to the ground and run to another pile of crates.
I want bigger versions of the already existing pets. I want a wolf as big as Garm!
A baby Devourer like Frostbite would be great, too.
The other animals I was going to suggest were already suggested by other players.
Of course, with the recent nerf, I want pets just for aesthetics.
Actually I remember a Dev saying that his main is a ranger, during the Southsun Cove part of the Living Story.
It doesn’t matter anyway. I just want to know why they don’t want rangers to be played and, if they do, if they have any idea of what they just did.
I just avoid, go back to the ground and go for another pile of boxes when the golems get too close. You and your teammates must be quick. It is not that hard, it just is a little annoying when everyone dies and you simply do not have enough dps to finish the golems.
I’m glad I’m not a BM ranger, but I know that this sucks for everyone. I’m a condition ranger so things always were pretty bad for me anyway.
Shortbow is now my melee weapon lol
It is really frustrating to see my main character getting worse and worse with every “balancing fix”. If it wasn’t for my alts, I guess I would never have been able to finish the new dungeon. Granted, the dungeon is not AI friendly at all, but I thought this game was supposed to support every play style, so that everyone would be able to do everything, regardless of class. Guess I was wrong.
I am lucky that I found only players from my own server in there and I can’t even begin to imagine how bad it must be for people that are facing camping servers. PvP can be really frustrating sometimes.
BUT, it could be worse…. Like if you actually needed it for the meta.
I loved the dungeon. My only problem with it is that I had to use an alt (my necromancer) to complete it because turns out that I couldn’t make my ranger (my main character) useful in any way while trying to do it.
Other than that, the dungeon is awesome. I liked the Molten Facility better because of the dialogues, though. I miss Rox and Braham and I really do not like Kiel at all.
I remember when I started playing this game, and I was talking with my buddy…
“Oh I really like my ranger! The long bow and the great sword are my favourite weapons, but the pet is a little annoying at times…”
“Why don’t you try a warrior then?”, he suggested.
“Uh… I don’t know, I guess I will stick to my ranger by now”.
If only I knew…
Well, now I am leveling a warrior lol
Maybe it’s Snaff?
LOL
Snaff: Oh yeah, Eir, I’ve been faking my death for the last five years (or so). What? Zojja almost got you to kill yourself because of that? Well, that’s odd… What?! Rytlock and Logan almost killed each other, too? I leave you guys alone for five years and you make such a mess out of it? I can’t believe I’m your friend.
That would be hilarious. Impossible and lore-breaking, but hilarious.
+1
If I had at least five options of colours for each weapon, I would be so happy…
+1
Yes, please, I need this.
Didn’t you receive the mails in game? The mails tell you where to go and what to do.
It was nice. Too bad she also recognized the character I’ve created two days ago.
Still, I guess it is better that she could recognize me account-wide than it would have been to not be recognized at all.
Boy, the devs must find this thread quite amusing.
They are probably laughing at our crazy guesses.
… or faren and E stand for something ridiculous that he used for his alias; like enigmatic
I don’t think Faren can be so enigmatic, and he certainly isn’t the kind of guy that would hide his identity. He likes to boast about what he did (and about what his best buddy did, too). Faren is a really nice guy and a wonderful friend, but that’s just not his style.
After seeing the sword, I would say I need about… 12 of them, yes, that would be right.
None of my characters use swords, though… I guess I will have to change some builds. That sword is simply way too awesome, I must find a way to use it.
You can check it out on different worlds. The open world version of her uses randomised models. She looks completely different in the Rowanwoods on SoS than the model used in your screen shot. Even her armour is different.
I see… That must have been some error with the code, then. For some reason, the game thinks that it should randomize her appearance like with a lot of random npcs, instead of keeping her original looks like with important npcs.
Soo…. just finished what’s available of the story… and lol it’s basically what you’d expect. I think the most unexpected part was that she stuck around practically asking to be arrested after she was first cleared hahaha.
But she would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn’t been for us meddling kids!
About Caveth’s Attachments:
She looked completely different for me when I found her in the Rowanwoods. She was of the same model of your second screenshot, but all green.
What is it with the devs and sylvari’s appearance? First, it was Canach. Now, Astorra. If sylvari can simply change colors, that should be in the lore somewhere.
There is a npc in the Grove that says that a friend of his used to have a lovely foliage, but after coming back from a successful Wyld Hunt, her foliage was a black mass of fungal rot. That is the only piece of lore I could find about sylvari changing their looks, and it doesn’t fit Astorra’s case at all (though it can explain some stuff about Canach).
Enemies that you defeated who then ran away leaving a bag of loot were a significant part of several of the Southsun events. Seeing how this is already in the game and working implementing it into the wider open world seems to be a pretty good idea.
This.
I support this idea. It makes sense and it would make me feel better. All sentient beings that were not corrupted by the dragons should be able to yield. Maybe they shouldn’t yield 100% of the time, but having like 30% chance of yielding instead of dying would be nice.
Yes. The “Mister E” is killing me. I need a target!
It really is amazing. I got really disappointed at how the story was delivered in Southsun Cove, and now I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait for today’s update!
Say, whatever happened to that ‘personal nemesis’ that was mentioned a while back?
Source?
All I want is for the new weapons and armor sets that will be released to be bought with tokens from the new dungeon, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up.
Also, I need to know who the hell my nemesis is.
I am looking at E as a reference to V for Vendetta. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434409/
Maybe we could meet Mr E one day and he looks like a mesmer in starter gear complete with a mask.
If that’s the case, then E is not a person, he is an idea
(What I’m saying is that the “who” is not as important as the “why”)
Or maybe “E” stands for “Evil”. Mister Evil. EEEEEEVIL. It’s like Dr. Evil but without the doctorate degree.
Then we get to meet our nemesis, and he was toying with us all the time!
(This is not a serious assumption)
Not every instance/event should be multiplayer. A good mix of the two where players can choose to participate in the events they prefer is best and that seems to be what ANet is delivering. Flame and Frost gave us the Molten Weapons Facility (multiplayer), The Secret of Southsun Cove gave us Canach’s Lair (again, multiplayer). Both of these Living Story events contained single player missions throughout. I don’t see a problem.
If we can’t choose, there is a problem.
The instances of our Personal Story could be finished by a single player, but we always were able to choose if we wanted or not to take someone else with us.
Neither forcing players to form groups nor forcing them to solo is a good idea. Sure, we can choose not to do any of the instances, but then we will miss parts of the lore. That’s not very nice.
Everybody involved in the making of that cutscene needs a pay rise, a promotion and a pack dolyak loaded with cookies.
Why do you guys have to fight over something so trivial? ~.~
I just went through the past letters we received from E and the very first one starts with
You may not know me, but i know you
, so chances are that E isn’t somebody we have met before. If you think about it, there’s hardly anyone in the game who would have a good reason to conceal their identity from us when asking for help (since we seem to be quite the go-to guy whenever help is required anyway)
Ohh you are right! Aww… It seems that I will not get to like Kiel, then.
Now I am hoping that Mr. E is our nemesis. I’ve been eager to know who the snake-nosed, silver-tongued, fast-talking person from the city is.
I have no idea, I just want her to become an interesting character :c
It gave me shivers, no kidding. I loved everything about it.
Good job, Anet! There are some awesomely talented artists over there!
I wish I could take at least one friend with me. I’m a roleplayer, and I thought this would be a great event for my Order of Whisper’s agent, but she can’t take her partner with her :c
I think it might be Ellen Kiel, and Kasmeer and Marjory are just assuming that E is male.
Also, I find it very weird that Logan does not trust the Lionguard.
I believe it is a good system, since the normal coffers drop all the time and from everything, so you get a lot of chances to drop the ticket.
Maybe they should let we buy tickets with Jorbreakers, too. That would make a lot of people happy and would put all these Zhaitaffies that I can’t even hold to a good use.
That’s a nice idea, but I think both the items (the original and the clone) should become account bound instead. That way, you would be able to use the skin in multiple characters, but wouldn’t be able to pass it to someone else. Otherwise, people would be able to lend, let’s say, Infinite Light to all their friends and still sell it (to someone that would lend it to a bunch of people, too). A lot of people in the game would end up having the skin and the price would plummet. Now, imagine that happening to every single skin in the game (but legendaries). In a game that is all about aesthetics, something like that shouldn’t happen.
I don’t think so. I still have all my titles from Southsun and I believe there was no title related to the festival at all.
Frankly, the only things I would pay for would be the makeover kits IF they released new hairstyles, faces and tattoos/horns/ears and some long skirts for my noble humans (I would prefer them being armor skins, but I will be happy with town clothes).
Lol @ the last two posts.
There are people actually buying them? I farmed the ones that I opened. They drop all the time x)
it takes all of 2 minutes to rejoin. If you are in a team full of idle leeches why the hell would you want to stick around and lose match after match?
I have no idea because (luckily) it still didn’t happen to me. Usually, there is one or maybe two players away in my team, so I stick around and hope for the best. However, I can see a lot of players complaining about that, you know? “THEY were away, I was not, why did I get kicked too? Now it will take five more minutes for me to get the Devotee achievement!”
Me too, I already opened hundreds of coffers and I know I will open lots of them before the festival is over.
I hope that this farming will eventually get me some tickets.
If its in the PVE achivements section as a completionist player, yes you are forced to play kitten useless pvp.
You say that like if “completionism” was some kind of medical condition. You are mistaking “need” for “want”.
There is no excuse for doing what these people are doing. If you don’t like the game, don’t play it, but don’t get in the way of people that like it.
Oh so you don’t want to play, but you want to get the achievement for playing it? Tell me again how you should get an achievement for something that you never achieved.
Monna because Pink Moa is my favourite moa.
I will not go for the mini, though. If I there were multiple types of minis and I could get Mini Monna, I would.
You get zero you should get kicked out and have to rejoin.
No. People can get zero points because of a bunch of reasons, like the rest of the team is away and the other team is zerging on the only one that is actually playing the game or simply being new to it. Being idle for a whole match should be the reason for kicking someone from the mini game. Being unable to kill even one player does not mean that the person should be kicked.
For example, I remember playing with this one person that couldn’t kill a single player for two matches. Turns out she didn’t know she could toggle auto-attack on skill 1. After I told her, she improved match after match.
The holographic mobs should either spawn more frequently, scale according to the number of players nearby or be of individual activation, like every resource node in the game.
Wait, how did you get it already?
Right now they don’t. I am stuck at 6/10 and I have all the achievements that can be done right now.
Maybe it is because they don’t want people to feel forced to pvp. I surely hope they are bugged, though.
Some players hate any form of pvp or so called minigames like crab toss or keg brawl, but they are forced to do it. Is not players fault.
There is no way they are forced to play them. The dragon ball related achievements don’t even count towards the meta achievement. They should just stay out of the game and stop ruining our fun.
If a player enter a team and go AFK, how is it not the player’s fault? Would it be ok for someone to get in a dungeon with 4 more people and go AFK?
