I like Trahearne better. He sounds WAY humbler than Kiel and he seems more dependent on the player. I don’t know, it just feels that I’m actually important when I talk to him, but it simply doesn’t when I talk to Kiel.
I’m not saying that I want Trahearne back, I’m just saying that I would rather have him than Kiel. However, I would rather have good character (like Tybalt) than either of them, of course.

Right. It seems that you can pick one Zenith skin each 1000 APs. You can have unlimited units of the skins you choose, but you can’t pick all of them (for now).

Hm… I’m not sure if people do not read before posting or if they really think that you must be near the server, young, with a good connection and a good computer to deserve an achievement that should be based on skill (but it is not because of the reasons the OP pointed out). That last being the case, well, nothing I can say can convince you otherwise. It is not honorable helping people that have a worse playing condition than you, right? Actually, how dare the “night crew” to set foot out of the WvW, right?
If you do not want to give up your first place, fine, that’s your choice and nobody should be mean to you for that. However, don’t come to a topic about equality and spout these foolish assumptions.

As for the “we are not all equal” part…yes, we know. No one is going to be great at everything in every game that they ever play. Most of us just accept that. I guess some people go around expecting every bar to be lowered to whatever level is comfortable to them.

It is not about “being good”, it is about having a chance. It is an achievement for winning a race that is not based on skill, but mostly on where in the world you are and on how great your computer and your internet connection is. How is that right or fair? Well, in my opinion, it is not.
And before saying anything, I do not have problems to win the race, and I got my title by myself, nobody let me win. The thing is, while I am lucky I have a very minor problem with latency, I know that a lot of people are not that lucky, so I won’t just wave my hands in the air, tell them that “you can’t win because you suck, so whatever, you can’t have the same chances we do, get used to it” and pretend that the problem does not exist.

I’m just passing by to tell you guys that I find your complaints absolutely valid and to toss my support. I’m in South America and I can’t make some jumps with the #1 or #3 skills during peak hours, so I can’t even imagine how terrible it must be for you guys in the Eastern Hemisphere, having this problem all the time instead.

I mostly agree with what you said. Except for the part where you said achievements give players better gear, which is false. The rewards for ap are all cosmetic outside of the gold and account bonuses.

He must be talking about “Sanctum Sprint Achievements -> Meta Achievement -> Personal Quartz Node -> Celestial Gear”. There are other achievements that a person can do to get it, but if the person can not complete the jumping puzzles to get to the kites and can not get the crystals for the same reasons why they can’t finish first in Sanctum Sprint (lag, latency, age, disabilities, etc) and for some reason they really want Celestial Gear, they will have problems to get it.

I agree with your post as a whole. When winning or losing do not depend solely on skill anymore, an achievement for winning hardly means anything.

I mean, I made some friends playing with a bunch of random people, that’s true, but what about my guildies? If that wouldn’t be possible because “you guys would just trade wins so everybody would get the achievements and the titles”, please, people do that already, being friends or not. Also, two friends that have characters of every race can easily work together to get the “Omnomnivore” title already.

I don’t think this is so bad. What I DO hate is that there are places where you can fall but survive, and at some of them you are not teleported back. Therefore, you either find a way to kill yourself or you deal with the fact that now you are at a point that is way too far from where you fell from and there is no way of getting close to the other competitors anymore.

Hm… Maybe you should have given it a try. It was the first time I had so much fun playing a game since Portal 2.
Maybe it is just not your thing, but you see, most people are enjoying the Bazaar. With such an overwhelming positive feedback, don’t you think it is worth a try?

Maybe they were not completed because they are all connected. We still don’t know who the silver-tonged person from the city and Mr. E are, but it doesn’t mean that we will never know. I bet the person behind the Molten Alliance is the same one that is behind the Aetherblades.

I fell in love with their lifestyle (I want to fly away with them lol), so I am going to buy a new character slot and make a character that look Canthan, like the vast majority of the Zephyrites (that’s kinda weird, you would think that after some generations up there, the Canthans and Elonians would be all mixed up… Unless they visit Cantha frequently).

The ones that have enough achievement points to get the rewards already worked for their points for almost a year. It is only fair that new players go and work for it, just like everyone else.

Personally I’m suspicious about Ellen Kiel. Logan said in the cutscene he doesn’t trust the lionguard, implying they’re involved. That leads me to be very suspicious of Kiel.

Maybe he doesn’t trust the Lionguard because of that time he was arrested by them, or because they do nothing for his people in Nebo Terrace and Ascalon Settlement so he has to send his Seraph to help them, or because they serve a pirate city.
But yeah, I don’t trust Kiel either, but it is just because he is poorly developed and I would love to kick her right in her stupid face.
Her brilliant plan in Southsun Cove would have been good for nothing if the copies of the contracts in LA hadn’t been destroyed before she exploded that ship. What I’ve got from the story was that Canach was the one that destroyed the copies, since Kiel seemed unaware of the situation (she didn’t seem to have a plan or to know the originals were the only ones left before capturing Canach).
Marjory (and the player) did everything in Dragon Bash. She “handled” nothing and does not deserve Magnus’s recognition at all.
At the end of the day, Kiel is just a good-for-nothing Mary Sue that takes credit for things that other people did (Canach, Marjory and the player).
The only positive thing about her is that she is so bad that makes me actually miss Trahearne.

Same here, but I like them, so I’m going to buy a new character slot and make a themed character just to use them. I’m just waiting for the 5k aps reward because I heard it will give us 400 gems, so I will just have to use my gold for the other 400, hopefully (I don’t know if that information is correct).
And answering to the OP’s question… Well, I won’t buy other weapons for THAT character in particular, but I don’t think that will screw up the market for other skins. I usually give my character dungeon weapons or weapons bought with badges in WvW instead of buying weapons from other players, anyway.

Hey! The norns are one of the kindest race of all, tied with the sylvari! They are all like “you must visit more often” and “the spirits of the wild welcome you” when you talk to them. Say “grawl” instead, or “ettin”, or maybe “jotun”. Jotun are foo, they never share with quaggans (therefore they must be killed, according to Pastkeeper Oldoo).

I believe that must be because anet kinda expects that we know who he is. I mean, he is the guy that signs every TP related news, the big charr that is at the TP in LA since ever, that one guy the owns the Black Lion Trading Post. He is the kind of character that had been on our faces all the time for the last year so he doesn’t really need a proper introduction, I guess.

About the “failed living story”… I’ve been enjoying the updates so far (except for Southsun. The way that the story was delivered was simply awful), so I don’t really think it is failing at all. I’m enjoying talking to the Zephyrites and learning everything I can about them. Overhearing the conversations between the npcs is also a great way to learn more about them. I’m especially fond of the song that they sometimes start singing.

I mean, if you have like 10 berserker warriors and you run CoF p1 everyday multiple times with them with 4 warriors + 1 mesmer groups, you will get 2 full CoF armor sets before you could ask yourself why would anybody have 10 berserker warriors.

See, I’m not saying that people should leave, I’m just advising them to leave instead of fighting, if they are being bothered by the situation. I mean, I remember that I got a lot of hate when playing Crab Toss because I had the title for winning already but I was still stealing crabs from people (I still wanted the title for stealing crabs and also I loved the game). Because of that, I kept leaving and coming back so I would always play with different people, since being called names all the time is something that really bothers me and I didn’t want to report and ignore so many people. I know that sometimes we say things that we don’t mean to say and that’s when the mess starts.
But if the person that is getting the hate is ok with just ignoring them and is not fighting back, great! I know that sometimes we get that urge to answer to this kind of stuff, but that’s not good for anybody. Likewise, if someone is bothered by the fact that they can’t get first place, it is way better to leave the current race and join another one than to go griefing the winner.

We should do whatever we find fun.
I like letting people win, I don’t mind, really, but I don’t think people should be FORCED to let other people win or bullied if they don’t.
So many topics about this issue already… Can we just try to be nice to each other for once?
If someone is winning all the time and you think you can’t beat them, leave the race and join another one instead of being mean to the winner.
If you are winning all the time and people are being mean to you for that, report them, leave the race and join another one instead of replying harshly and giving them reasons to report you too.

I’m not an oceanic player, I’m in South America and our time zones are not that different from yours, if you are in the USA, so I am not part of the night crew.
It is not because your opinion is different that I do not think that you deserve kindness or respect, it is because you were rude and disrespectful in your post to begin with, and we can only get what we give.
I have very few latency issues and I got my achievement with my own effort. Nobody let me win, but just because I am lucky enough to not having these problems, it doesn’t mean I should ignore those that are not.
I never said that it relates to skill in the race in any way. What I am saying is that it is ok if they are helping us getting the bonuses from WvW (if you do not know, your server gets you bonuses. Press B to see which bonuses they got for you), but it is not ok to help them getting achievements? Please.
And I am not implying that the day players are bad in any way, just that they are humans and have to sleep, and when they are asleep someone else has to fight, and that’s when the Oceanic players are awake.
Quite frankly I can’t see how can you possible come to any of these conclusions. I’m not sure if my English is so bad that I can’t explain what I am trying to say properly or if you just ignore everything I say and make up your own stuff.

Ohh Kasmeer is indeed very mysterious.
And she has the defiant buff. There are just a few npcs that do, and all of them are pretty important (I mean, besides bosses).
I find it funny how all these plots seem unrelated but are probably not, since there are so many loose ends everywhere. I mean, nobody else mentioned the “snake-nosed, silver tongued person from the city” in the game since that one dredge.
I am hoping for a glorious finale when all these mysteries start getting solved by us, meddling kids!

Really? Is there an official statement regarding this?
Because that would be great. I mean, if the quartz nodes don’t go away with the ship, since it seems that they are “grown” by the zephyrites, based on some dialogues between npcs.
The place is really close to the Crystal Desert and sorta close to the Elon River, so it gives me much hope that Elona will soon be available (eh, a girl can dream).

Why is everybody taking this so seriously?
It is just a game. If people want to “give the man a fish”, who the hell cares? It is just a temporary mini game in a virtual world. It is not something life-changing like the old saying states. At all.
People are trying to have fun, not to learn a lesson for their lives. Besides, a lot of people know exactly how to play the game and would beat everybody in every single race if it wasn’t for latency, so let’s not talk about “teaching lessons” when people are not getting a fair ground for it to begin with.
For many people, it is not about learning to play, but about living in the other side of the planet or having bad internet connection or not being able to afford a better computer.
“Teaching them how to fish” would be bringing them all to America or Europe, giving them a brand new computer with an awesome and stable internet connection, THEN beating them over and over until they “learn to play”.
Being in South America, I have problems with latency (Third world problems, who cares right?). On the few times that I got to the finishing line before everybody else it was because I was lucky, not because I was good. If I want to throw a tea party at the finishing line and wait for the people that are coming right after me so that they can cross the line and get the achievement, that’s what I will do, because I know exactly how it is to have problems with latency.

Good, that’s what you should do. You should report them instead of answering to their attacks. I would advise you to leave the race and to join it again after winning so that you won’t have to put up with this kind of stuff.
Though I see no problem and I will let people get first if I get the chance (I rarely ever do, but still), like I told you before, they shouldn’t be mean to you because you are winning.
I hope you end up finding a group of competitive players that won’t do this kind of stuff. Good luck.

I remember that just after I started playing a group of people asked if we would be ok with letting one person win at a time so that everybody would be able to get the achievement. I said that I was fine with it, so they picked me to go first because they decided it would be by alphabetic order and my main character’s name is “Astrid Strongheart”. The thing is that I had just started playing the game, so I was pretty bad at it. One person saw it and rushed to the finishing line, called us “noobs” and said that he would win again and again. People called him a jerk or something like that, I said “It’s ok guys, I’m really bad at it anyways”. We started another race, alright, and my game crashed due to one of my Window’s errors. I went back to the game and, three races later, got the achievement with my own effort.
What I’m saying is that there is no reason to attack each other. If our community was as “friendly and helpful” as people are claiming to be, there would be no need for me to post this.
