SAB does not work like other events and instances, and if I recall it correctly it doesn’t give out any exp.
You do not play as your class in there; lvl, skills and traits do not matter. You get a pointy stick for main weapon and 3 hearts for HP (you can get upgrades later).

I wouldn’t mind having an inspect option, I wouldn’t use it anyway so it makes no difference. Also, my main is a ranger, so elitists do not want me in their parties while playing my main, already xD

Also, if anybody kicks me from a party because, I dunno, I am playing a condition alt or my backpiece is not ascended, that’s a person I don’t really want to play with, so whatever. I would rather play with nice people than with people that think thay they are better than me because they are full zerker.

I bet this is what is going to happen, but only after the game is finished (all the 4 worlds). Something like a "Handhold Super Adventure Box", or maybe a console inside our home instance.

SAB is a video game made by an asura and it has an educational purpose.
That’s the lore behind it. It is just a cube in Rata Sum and I don’t think it destroys the game. I think it fits the asura.

The weapons are ugly, but I don’t mind, since I don’t use them. The minis are holographic toys, so they fit with the asuran technology quite well.

I can see the introduction of new dungeon tokens that are only given out once a day. That would satisfy the time gating requirement — and you wouldn’t be able to use saved-up tokens to get fully geared instantaneously. All of Anets requirements would be met, so this might be a possibility.

Still, seems Anet has more or less forgotten about the dungeons so who knows?

It was said on a recent interview that they were working on new dungeons and on the old ones. Maybe they will someday change the rewards (upgrading all dungeon exotics to ascended) or add new ones (completely new ascended sets).

That would make sense. I ran dungeons both for skins and stats. Now I’m done equipping my characters and I don’t run dungeons anymore, but I would, if there were new ascended equipment to be bought with tokens.

It would be awesome if we got ascended weapons with new skins for each dungeon. They would cost more tokens than the exotic ones, of course. Later on, when we get the ascended armor, they could add ascended armor sets with new skins to the dungeon vendors. More foliage skins (TA) would be highly appreciated by people with sylvari characters, like me.

It will probably stay for the whole month, not for just 2 weeks, like back in April.

Everybody talking abound grinding and time-gating and I’m just sitting here, wondering if the ascended equipment will have new skins.

Quite frankly, I don’t like that the ascended gear will be acc. bound. I mean, why can’t crafting be more lucrative? It takes time and gold to level it, after all.
I’m ok with everything else (time-gating and having to get new equipment to my 7 lvl 80s).

I wonder how long it will take to Lord Vanquish to discover that his precious princess is a man…

Let’s be honest here, both sides have been pretty nasty to each other. Farmers calling completers whiners, completers calling farmers sploiters and everybody SCREAMING in map chat.

The thing is, we can’t tell people to play the way we want. We can tell them what to do if they want to complete the event, since a lot of people don’t know how the event works, but if they just want to farm, they will farm. And you know what? That’s alright! Variety is good! Imagine if all of us liked only one play style, or if everybody wanted to do just one thing all the time? It would be boring as hell. People should play the way they want, and that’s all.

So much drama. The difference is pretty small and you can still get every achievement by winning just once (defeat Scarlet).

I can’t see how farmers are ruining the event, and there are a lot of threads about this already.

Ahh, class identity. It takes me back to my childhood, playing Ragnarök… People would ask for some form of customization, other people would say that then it would be too hard to tell one class from another. Good old times (haha nope).

People will always complain. Still, I want more permanent tonics that can be used in battles, and ones that REALLY are permanent and that can be used in WvW. I would love a Kodan combat tonic, I would make a new character with a typical Kodan name and I would be a Kodan forever.

What we’re missing in Scarlet is her motivation. Right now all we see is a motivation is to watch the world burn and consume herself in death orgies, but that doesn’t mean that is all the motivation she has.

Scarlet’s motivation is to break everybody free from destiny, to show that nothing is written in stone and that she can be more than a force against the dragons. She can be anything she wants to be. She can do anything and everything, not only be a dreamer or be lost in the nightmare. And why stop with herself, or the sylvari? Why not show all the world that we are not bound by destiny? Of course, that’s what her twisted mind thinks she is doing.
At least, that’s what I got from the short story.

If you mean something else, like portal events might make waypoints more dangerous or something, that’s fine.

It works like this:
Regular events contest waypoints.
Regular events are not being done because everybody is busy with the portal events.
Portal events indirectly cause waypoints to be contested.

Well, Scarlet is related to three villain factions (Pirates, Inquest and the Molten Alliance, which includes the Flame Legion). Maybe we will get a villain that is related to the other factions next year, but right now they are indeed developing some of the villain factions. Yeah, maybe it is not being done in the way you want it to be, but it is being done.

Also, amazing voice acting. Scarlet is the proof of the difference that the voice can make for a character. I am sure a lot of people would like Trahearne better if he had a voice that suits better a leader, for example.

Hey, I know that it it is far from ideal, but if somebody opens the portal you can hop into it and run the Scarlet’s Playhouse, so that you can re-open the Pavilion.
People open the portal all the time. It is located right next to Vorpp.

That works for the Personal Story, but that’s not the concept of the Living Story.
If they are going to do the same thing with the LS that they did with the PS, then they should just tie the beginning of LS to the end of the PS, so that the LS would be a continuation of the PS and it would play that way for every new character.
The thing is, by not removing the content that is strictly tied to the story (DEs, instances, dungeons), the final result will either make no sense (the villain is dead but is still showing up everywhere with the minions) or it will not be really “final” (we will never be able to defeat the villain).

You know what could have been permanent? The Bazaar. The ship flew away and the zone simply disappeared, it seems. It would make sense, story-wise, for the zone to stay (but without the ship).
However, wrapping-up the plot and leaving behind the DEs… I want to know how does that fit. Story-wise, of course.

But if it stays forever, then where is the “Living” part of “Living Story”?
The story have to go somewhere, or that’s what they said that would happen. I want to fight the other dragons someday, and also Palawa Joko. You know, moving on. I thought that’s what Living Story was about.

Edit: Yes, I know the LS will leave some permanent changes. I just don’t think that Dynamic Events that are directly related to a villain that should be defeated someday is the best thing to stay.

But how would that work, lore-wise?
I mean… Unless we will keep killing Molten Alliance, Aetherblades and the rest of Scarlet’s army for years to come. Oh dear…

Alright, it is fun and all… For a while. Maybe it won’t be “permanent”, but it will just take some months until they are removed? I mean, they will be removed after Scarlet is gone, right? She will be gone someday, right?

I would like to put an end to her plans someday. It is already bad enough that Orr is still full of risen even though we killed Zaithan already (LS-wise). She is cool, I like her, but fighting her forever… I don’t know.

I believe it is because people don’t know how the achievements work. As people said already, only one of them requires you to complete the event successfully.
To be honest, the first time I failed an event I got pretty mad… For 3 seconds. Then I looked at the right corner (I was tracking them) and I noticed that progress had been made, and off I went to save Faren.

This. I would buy another character slot and make a character with a Kodan name. Then, I would use the tonic forever.

I believe that posting an explanation to make people understand how the events and achievements actually work, so they wouldn’t insist that farmers are preventing them to get to the dungeon, would be more effective than nerfing the farm. I feel like nobody listens, they just want to complain and to fight each other.
Again: You will still get the achievements and good rewards even if the event fails, so it is no big deal.

Give us a list of achievements that give 0 points. Each one of them is for “Completing an invasion in X map”.
I’m still in 7/13, so I still remember the maps that I did already. However, I’m not sure if I will be able to remember all of them when I get to 11/13 or 12/13, so I’m manually tracking the maps down now.

This isn’t as true as you think it is, because many people are unable to finish the map theorems do to other people ‘choosing’ to farm rather then complete the “invasion” as one would suspect. Thus because of this.. other people can not enter scarlet’s playhouse or re-enter into the pavilion. I have been on a few maps myself where people had said to only farm champions rather then finishing the map.

The only achievement that you can’t complete by failing the event is the one for defeating Scarlet. You can complete Vorpp’s portal with nothing but failed events.
You just have to participate.

I don’t blame you for thinking otherwise. A lot of people don’t know that, and that’s why they keep fighting each other. The truth is that you only have to successfully finish one event (and run fast enough to get to defeat Scarlet) to be able to get all the achievements related to this chapter of the Living Story.

It is actually a pretty player friendly activity. I mean, the rewards for failing are not very different from the ones for succeeding, so nobody should feel like they lost 45 minutes because of the way other players want to play the game.

I understand that he wants to make his own glory, but I would like to see him getting closer to his mother. I don’t know, I feel sorry for Eir because she is always so sad…
Even though the glory of a norn’s family member says nothing about themselves in their society, they still like to brag (a lot). I would like to see Eir bragging about her son’s battles.

Even though the playhouse suggests a five man team I strongly advise trying it solo first. I made it to the end without getting downed and it only took a few tries to finish her off. The instance will scale when you add 4 more people to your group.

True, but I found it easier to get the achievement for saving Faren in 3 minutes or less with a full group. If you have two people putting the fire out and the other three holding back the enemies, it gets done before you realize it.

Just a tip for people that might be struggling to get it solo.

The best thing about this IMO is that I can do it with only two more people if I want to. I usually do everything with my two best friends, so it is nice to being able to run the Playhouse with them and not having to go after two more people.

If you haven’t beaten her at that timing, no matter how bad things look, don’t give up. Because if you put your back into it, you can pull it off.

This is SO TRUE.
I once finished killing Scarlet so late that the event gave the message of “failure”, but we all got the rewards for completing it and the achievement (that one for defeating her). She literally was defeated on the last second.

The game crashed while I was fighting Scarlet.

It is true. Anise seems to be trying to make Logan realize that his emotional issues are dangerous for him AND for the Queen. Like you said, he is a walking emotional time bomb. I mean, when he the watchknight became Rytlock during the opening ceremony, he lowered his guard, he hesitated. He could have died.

I blamed Anise before. I thought she had a cruel sense of humor. But after hearing the conversation between Anise and Logan after defeating Scarlet in her playhouse, I finally understood Anise’s motives. She is trying to protect the Queen and to protect Kryta, and if Logan does not stop acting like a little boy, people will get hurt (again). This lesson she might be trying to teach Logan can save many lives in the long run, as I see it.

They are learning already. A lot of people were running in farming zergs because they did not know that it is actually way more efficient to run in smaller groups, (IF you are doing the events and NOT farming champions. If you are farming champions, the zerg is better for you because more champions will spawn), so they just followed the commanders.

I’ve been noticing that the event is getting easier because of that, or maybe I’m just being lucky. Last time I’ve completed an invasion, at Dredgehaunt Cliffs, there was a farming zerg with three commanders just farming champions and we could still defeat Scarlet with 4 extra minutes.

It is good for you that the farmers kill the champs. They are helping move the bar across. If it was not for this you wouldn’t have as many people on the maps anyways and progress would be slow and you would still fail from time to time.

Since they are helping you… just not doing it in the way that you want them to… I have zero sympathy for this type of play how I want you to rubbish.

Moving the bar slower than it is necessary for the event to be completed is good for people that actually want to complete the event?
What I am saying is that the event shall be completed if people do not go zerging everything. Please, read my other post again, the one before the one you quoted. I explain how the event works and why a farming zerg is bad for the event, as long as you don’t want it to fail.
I am not trying to make people play the way I want, I am just telling people how they should play IF (and only if) they want the event to be completed. Complaining about that is like complaining that I told people to lure Scarlet to the red circles during the first fight in the dungeon. “Aww but I don’t want to lure her to the circles!”, well, too bad, that’s what you need to do to defeat her.
I hope I’ve made myself clear. If you think zerging the events (as I said before, any of them) is helping completing the event, just know that your zerg would be WAY more helpful if it was divided in smaller groups. That’s how the event works, and it is not my fault.

Just one thing that is completely off topic but I think I should mention, just in case:
It won’t kill your dog to feed him/her with vegetarian food only(you can find this kind of dog food in the market), though it is not the best thing for him/her, but it will kill your cat.

Dogs were domesticated some thousand years before cats and they adapted to our habits, since they used to eat our leftovers (and, well, some still do), therefore we can
say that they are omnivores. Cats need meat. That’s not something optional.

Anyway, when in doubt, ask your vet about the best food for your pets, and refrain from giving them leftovers. We usually put way more salt in our food that we think, and this might be lethal to your pet.

Recently, I’ve done Fields of Ruin and didn’t get any credit either, and I’m sure it was the first time I was doing that zone.
When you spend 45 minutes killing stuff in the same zone, you will probably remember it.

You’re obviously missing the OP’s message. What he is saying is people are doing it on purpose to farm Champions. They don’t care about the end-loot because the difference between a successful defense against the invasion and a failed is moot.

There needs to be more of a significant punishment for failing the invasion then what it currently is at the moment, so that people are more willing to work together to beat these invasions back.

And that’s what I’m saying, too. I was explaining why farming Champions is not good for the progress of the event like some people in this thread think.

Sure. The problem is when they refuse to spread out because they want to farm Champions.

People still get credit for the invasions even if they fail.

The only achievement that it is not possible to get if the event fail is the one for defeating Scarlet at the end of the invasion, as far as I know.

People seem to be confused about how the event works.

The problem with zerging the events (not only the Aetherblades, but also Molten and Minions) is that it will cause the chosen events to scale (and they won’t be completed any faster) and the other ones will end up being neglected, therefore it will take longer for the bar to drop. Since there is a limited time to finish the waves and to kill the reinforcements (molten and Aetherblades), the best way to make sure that the event is completed successfully would be to form smaller groups and to cover a larger part of the map.

The problem is not killing champions. The problem is when half the map is doing the same event instead of covering everything. But hey, as long as people are not yelling at me for explaining how it works, I could care less.

I loved it. The voice acting was great, too.
Faren’s lines were so funny, and Scarlet’s remaks were also great. I ran both solo and with a full group, and it is enjoyable either way.
I’ve completed it solo with my main (Ranger). With the group, I used my warrior.

Edit: I deleted everything related to the portal and all my characters are still able to go in. I did the achievements with my main.

I don’t really mind, but it would be nice if they would just tell “hey, I’m here with my commander tag to farm Aetherblades, I’m not bothering with the event at all” before the 10 minutes limit, so I could just hop to another overflow.

Or maybe just don’t go being rude with the other players. I mean, I said “If you want the event to succeed, do the events marked with red crossed swords” on /map and one person just replied “SHUT UP NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR *****ING”. Really? That’s why I hate overflows. There are people that just started with the events and have no idea of what is going on. If nobody tells them what to do, they will fail the event and won’t even know why. If the players that are doing the event are not yelling at you or calling you names, refrain from doing that, too.
I can’t remember how many people I reported since this all started.

Anyway, Scarlet says that the Aetherblades work for her (“…because they like to live”. Funny, since we killed so many of them). About the Molten Alliance, well, she is clearly the “snake-nosed, silver-tonged, quick-talking person of the city” that the prisoners talk about.

To me, it feels like the NPCs don’t want us to know anything, just to go there and kill stuff for them. I feel a bit left out (story-wise, of course).
