I understand the problem with the language barrier, but the latency? I mean, of course they have problems with it, but players from Australia must have even worse latency and I don’t see people wanting them out of their servers…
Anyway, I never had this kind of problem, but I’m playing on TC and I heard Darkhaven was the server the bigger Brazilian guilds choose to play on, so I guess you guys must have a bigger problem with them than we do.
I’m ok with giving them a choice. Letting them transfer to a Brazilian server if they want to, I mean, and not forcing them out of Darkhaven or out of any other server that they might play on.
Ohh this cool. I thought they would only start dropping after the changes to Teq.
I agree with this. It is a good mechanic that does not make ice too frustrating, though, so it could be applied to the rest of the world IMO. Really well done.
There is so much dialogue pointing that way that I think it is pretty obvious that she is the Nemesis.
I mean, she DID say that she would made us her “special project”.
She was behind pretty much everything that happened during the Living Story until now. The Molten Alliance, the Aetherblades, Mai Trin… The only LS villain we can’t really connect her with is Canach, and even so, Canach would have nobody to free if it wasn’t for the Molten Alliance (and a lot of us don’t see Canach as a villain, too).
I was sure she was the Nemesis as soon as she showed up during the Opening Ceremony. Also, I remember Mai Trin mentioning her, so we already had a name (Scarlet).
Just to be clear now…
Which part of “SAB is solo content that you can do if friends if you want to” you did not understand yet?If it were solo content it wouldn’t prompt ‘suggested: 5 players’.
Alright. So your problem is ONLY with the message.
Tell me. If you were trying to eat soup and someone gave you a spoon and told you that it was a knife, but you could clearly see that it was a spoon and not a knife, would you use the spoon or would you refuse to eat with it?Firstly, I wouldn’t use a spoon that someone else gave me.
Secondly, it doesn’t matter what they say, the spoon is not labeled nor shaped as a knife. The SAB is shaped and labeled as a 5 man dungeon.
Oh man. Alright, let’s try with something that someone else said already here.
You want to leave a building. There is one door and it is written “Entrance” on it, not “Exit”. Everybody is telling that you can leave the building by using that door.
Do you refuse to use the door or do you exit the building through it?

I support this.
Except there are no girls on the Internet.
It’s because we wear disguises.
By the way, don’t look too hard at that tree over there, it’s not moving I promise you.

Uhh, I mean… Look, a champion farming zerg!
Just a minute. Is this a troll thread? It looks like a troll thread.
Again, SAB is meant both for solo players and groups. Believe us. We are telling the truth. The suggestion is just a suggestion, nothing else. A group is not needed. You can go solo. You already missed a cool instance (the Playhouse) and you are going to miss the SAB too if you refuse to listen to the other players.
SAB is soloable. World 2 might be a pain by yourself if you’re not good with jumping, though.
I’m great at jumping but I can’t go in SAB. Whether it’s soloable or not is meaningless. As long as it states ‘suggested: 5 players’, it’s group content. I don’t group.
This makes no sense at all. Scarlet’s Playhouse also stated “suggested: 5 players”, but you could easily go in alone and solo it all. Just click the button to enter SAB and see for yourself. You don’t need a group, it is not group content. It is solo content that can be played with friends if you want to.
You know, like you can take other people with you to the PS instances.
I don’t play because of the living story, but I enjoy it.
When it exploded, I was doing some late Personal Story. Luckily, Trahearne was there to rescue me. Wait…

Not impressed at all. I’d prefer a gala dress…
Oh yes, I want this so much!
I would like to see something as simple as “Puzzle Jumper” for the people that completed all the JPs to date.
SEE? That’s what I was talking about! I would have thought that, Anise! I knew that Faren had a hero in him because (human noble storyline)he killed many bandits, helped me rescuing a bunch of random commoners AND helped me fight minister Zamon and his norn pet.
Such a shining beacon of heroism. I really don’t understand why people won’t take him seriously. Alright, I kinda do.
Anyway, Rox wants to impress Rytlock and Braham is starting his own legend, that’s why they wanted to help (they were not so helpful inside of the Playhouse, but still).
I agree that it is a bit weird that Logan was not right next to the “Queen” when everything happened, and it was weirder that he did not started screaming for her immediately. Maybe he was going for it, but then noticed that it was an illusion? Then he just went like “Oh well, at least it was that particularly dashing noble that fell for it and not me”, maybe xD
Also, why was Faren wearing his speedo under his clothes? (I know, I know, model recycling, speeding things up… But it is a bit weird)
Hey, good job!
Oh Faren, why did you have to be so heroic? (And why do people seem to think that you are not, specially Anise? ~.~)
I just laughed again at the scenes. That was awesome, thanks.
(deleted and reposted so I wouldn’t mess with the sequence)
I couldn’t agree more.
The skins are acc. bound, they wouldn’t flood the market. Achievements are acc. wide, so why can’t I use the skins I earned in multiple characters? I can use titles on multiple characters.
About the minis, as long as you can’t throw them in the MF, I see no problem.
I thought the same thing Guffi did. Old meme is old and disgusting.
You know what’s going to happen?
Nothing. People will dislike the idea of being paired up with randoms with no effective selection criteria SO they’ll use online sites for it – like we have been doing these past months.I’d like to see some separators put in the new LFG tool.
Example : If i want to start a group I should be able to set some basic criteria ( number of achievement points, full exotic gear, class, level, etc). That’s just common sense.
Give me a chance to play with the people I want to.
Unless we get that I imagine most decent players will stay away from the new tool.
I’m pretty sure that it was said during the live stream that, just like it is with gw2lfg, the new tool will let you write a line when looking for people/groups. Just say “LF warrior 80 full berserker Exotic/Ascended, experienced only, with 9k+ APs” or whatever you want your playmates to be/have.
I see it as a gw2lfg inside the game. It is practical.
I thought they had fixed it already. I got the achievement two days ago.
^It is not, and that’s why I don’t mind. That’s my entire point. There is no “master plan”. I don’t mind upgrading to ascended and I don’t mind upgrading to fit my play style.
Actually, I am happy I am soon getting more AR. It is something worth upgrading for, just like it would be if I had to upgrade my gear to fit my play style.
If I had to upgrade my gear every three months or so, I wouldn’t be happy about it. It is not the case, so I don’t mind. I hope I made myself clear through so much repetition.
Edit: I do everything wrong on mobile, sorry -.-
(edited by Gabby.3205)
Fields of Ruin was bugged here, but I did it again yesterday and got it. Maybe they fixed it?
There is always that one person that spent time and gold in something not really useful at all that is going to complain about a good change.
Gladly, changes are made for the majority of the population that spent time and gold with stuff that is actually useful.
^Before the game was released, the RP community got together and decided that Tarnished Coast would be the unofficial RP server.
We are now pretty much the PvE server that does everything, has a lot of RP and still does alright in WvW.
I’m pretty sure the TC RP community does not want to go to a low population server. Also, for anybody wanting to get in, TC is not full right now. Go Toast!
I don’t mind upgrading my equipment only once.
Your forgetting about something… What if after balance changes your current gear stops to be optimal for your game style? You would need to replace(upgrade) that equipment… And whole your master plan falls apart.
Then I wouldn’t mind upgrading it again, if my game style demanded it.
@HiddenNicks
It was wrong because Anet said there would be no vertical progression in the game, only horizontal progression. Exotics were supposed to be the top tier items. Later they even admitted adding the Ascended Tier was a bad choice (it’s somewhere on google). But now they have to stick with it, because they already added the tier. And that is a fact, not an opinion.
Wait a minute. This is important. If they admitted that adding the Ascended Tier was a bad choice, does that mean that they won’t be adding more tiers? I mean, it is ok to make a mistake once, but it makes no sense to make the same mistake twice. That’s pretty good news, it means that we are not actually getting on a treadmill like many people fear we are. I don’t mind upgrading my equipment only once.
Your sense of challenge is rather skewed, so you call grinding a craft to 500 is a challenge? Look around you, LS is already a huge grindfest for AP and mindless zergfests. Whether you sit in LA grinding a craft or zerging events, it is a farcry from any challenge at all.
It is somehow true. Just because something takes time or coasts gold, it doesn’t mean it is challenging. However, that kind of stuff is for the casual crowd, and that’s alright too. I mean, if you log in every day, you will eventually get your LS meta achievement. It is not challenging, but if you want challenge, that’s what Liadri is for.
It is true that LS hasn’t been that impressive progress-wise. I do hope Anet does something about it in the sense of moving the story forward.
It was said on a recent interview that, at first, they were working very carefully with the progression of the Living Story to avoid messing up with the Personal Story, but that they are not going to do that anymore. This year, they tested the system of the Living Story by releasing the recurring festivals. Now that they are done with them, we are going to see the world actually changing (I’m hoping for Orr getting cleansed ^^).
Some people make alts because they enjoy making them, not because they don’t like their main. On that note, updates so far had been very anti-alts.
I couldn’t agree more. I love my alts and I play each one of them almost as often as I play my main. It is sad that some rewards could only be gotten once, like the Southsun backpacks and the fused gauntlet.
All achievements are not aimed at all players. Why? Not all players like doing the same things. This includes playing more -- or less. You can still get the meta achievement without doing the 13/13 invasion maps one.
No you can’t get the achievement without doing all 13 maps - I was stuck for over a week at 7/13
Getting the last one was the ONLY way to get to the "Playhouse".
Stop lying and go read the event notes.
Um...
I think you need to read the event notes yourself.
You only need all of Vorrp’s achievements to get to Scarlet’s Playhouse and you can indeed skip the 13/13 invasion canceller if you complete a random daily that counts as a Clockwork Chaos achieve.
Better yet: you can just stand next to Vorrp, wait until someone else opens the portal and get in the Playhouse. You don’t even have to do any other achievement. Huzzah!
You need Vorrp’s achievements if you want to open the portal yourself, but again, you don’t need to be the one to open the portal to hop into it.

It really depends on who you are roleplaying with. My guild has a simple rule: Do not say that your character can do something that s/he actually can’t. We try to prevent god-moding in our ranks and to stay as close as possible to the lore. Also, even if a fight arises, we do not touch the other’s characters without permission. For example, instead of “Astrid punched her brother’s stomach”, I would say “Astrid went for a punch on her brother’s stomach”. Then my friend can decide if he wants to dodge, to try to hold her hand (then I will decide if I let him or not) or to take the punch.
However, when we roleplay with other guilds, we just go with it. We let them talk about how they can fly and shoot lazers and then be killed by a centaur. We are aware that god-moding is recurrent in some guilds, so we don’t mind, really.
in rift, we had costume slots that let us appear any way we wanted to, including in pvp. then, came the crying about “i can’t tell what class it is!” trion removed the ability to costume in pvp.
THEN came the outcry from pvpers — NOTICE, please, from the pvp crowd, NOT the pve crowd — that if people couldn’t recognize what a class was by the weapons used and the skills used, they didn’t need to be in pvp.
outcry was so huge that we were given back our ability to costume ourselves, anywhere.
Pretty much this. People love to make excuses, you know. “I lost because I couldn’t tell if that character using pink magic and double swords was a mesmer or a warrior, since I couldn’t see the type of the armor”. It is a bit sad, to be honest.
lol you are making a fool out of yourself. It doesn’t matter to me. Anet isn’t stupid enough to allow stuff like this in any kind of pvp.
Because I can recognize classes by the other thousands of differences between them, and not only because of their armor?
You would make a drastic improvement in PvP if you paid more attention to the classes’s weapons and skins, really. Do not take that as a critique, but as a tip. When you see someone wearing light armor, you already have to decide if that person is a mesmer, a necromancer or an elementalist. Being able to hide the armor shouldn’t be such a big deal for you, since you already have to recognize the class by other characteristics.
So, again, why is this a problem and why exactly am I making a fool out of myself?
The Storm Wizard weapons look like they will look really cool as well.
Am I the only one here that wants a Pointy Stick Sword Skin?
Or maybe even scepter (changing the animation, of course).
But yeah, OP, I’m sorry if you feel that way. The good news? There will probably be another update two weeks after SAB, since we are getting new content every two weeks, so maybe it will be something that you like ^^
I am really excited for SAB!
@Colly, i wouldnt mind that, i guess the only problem would be ability to hide armor, and i guess players would complain saying the other player had a advantage over him (aka the person lost and is QQing)
Ahh, class identity. It takes me back to my childhood, playing Ragnarök… People would ask for some form of customization, other people would say that then it would be too hard to tell one class from another. Good old times (haha nope).
People will always complain. Still, I want more permanent tonics that can be used in battles, and ones that REALLY are permanent and that can be used in WvW. I would love a Kodan combat tonic, I would make a new character with a typical Kodan name and I would be a Kodan forever.
People that are bad at PvP will never understand the need to identify another class, the reason is because they will never understand PvP. Based on what you guys say they should just go ahead and remove all visual tells from PvP.
I don’t think any explanation would work. You either get it, or you don’t. I don’t think anyone expects much from the PvE crowd anyway.
Excuse me, but I’m quite decent at PvP and I identify classes by (obviously) attacks, summoned stuff, the way the dodge looks, the buffs they are using and even the speed they are running. I don’t need anything else at all and I don’t think class identification should limit customization.
It is not my fault (or anybody’s, really) if you need more visual hints than some of us do, so please refrain from making assumptions.
They seem to have fixed the issue of Scarlet dying to quickly. There’s no excuse to not get there in time.
Gladly, yes. Unless the person refuses to use waypoints, but then it is their own fault. She takes about 2 minutes to die, I think, but of course it depends on the players (number of players, number of zerkers, might stacks, this kind of stuff).
Huh. Another one of these threads. Yes, how dare them. They are so evil, wanting to play the game in a way that is not the one that you want them to play and using the tag they paid 100g for to make some profit. Off with their heads!
As people said already, only one achievement requires winning. If you still need this achievement, don’t worry. Eventually, you will get in an easy map or in an overflow where most players are trying to complete the event and you will get it (well, unless it takes you too long to get to Scarlet and the other players end up killing her before you arrive).
That’s funny. Ranger pets take just as much (or rather, as little) to kill as summoned weapons, necro minions, and other pets and turrets. I’m sure people will love this in PvP as well. Free DPS on a weapon that can’t be destroyed or a minion that can’t be killed.
Good luck.
The OP said multiple times that it would be only in dungeons. Why are you talking about PvP? ~.~
Anyway, I don’t think it is going to happen. Sure, it would be great for us rangers, but then I would be able to solo a dungeon by telling my pet to attack everything and just watching from a distance. Sure, it would take forever, but would still be possible, and I don’t think this is alright.
Zhaitan seemed to be trying to destroy us. So was Jormag.
Insects probably see me as trying to destroy them when I go out for a stroll through the park. Well, maybe that’s not the best metaphor.
How about this one: The microorganisms coating my lunch probably see me as trying to destroy them when I eat. Dragonlunch= the sort of shiny magical objects our characters like to horde. Our characters= too small to do anything with other than digest along with lunch.
The way the Zephyrites see the dragons is cool and all, but I’m pretty sure that at least Zhaitan was actively trying to kill us.
I mean, his minions do taunt us all the time, and he attacked at the very heart of our Order. If Zhaitan was just a force of nature, he wouldn’t pick targets. He would just destroy whatever that is on his way. I love the Zephyrites, but I think that their vision is biased, since they were blessed by Glint’s knowledge.
I think that, just like any other sentient beings, the dragons can chose to do bad things or good things (which not necessarily makes them good or evil, there is always a gray area), but they know exactly what they are doing and who they are hurting.
I didn’t find World 1 really difficult to complete, though some achievements were kinda hard to get. There is an easy mode (infantile mode) for people that are not that good at jumping puzzles.
I’m pretty sure World 2 will be harder than World 1. It simply makes sense. The thing is, if the next worlds are going to be “Nintendo hard”, then I might be in trouble lol
Quite frankly, I’m always having fun. I play GW2 in my free time and, as a Law student that loves to play video games, I really need this kind of easy, quick entertainment. I appreciate every free update and I can usually find something I want to do. I’m still at 11/13 maps for Invasion Canceler, but I’m slowly getting there.
Well, Tarnished Coast is the unofficial NA RP server.
You can find a lot of people roleplaying there, specially at Divinity’s Reach and Queensdale. The only problem is that it is always full, but you can get in early in the morning, on weekdays. I hope to see you there soon
I am all for new emotes, too.
They do have a rich, interesting culture. However, even though they are now standing up for the Pact, they are still mostly peaceful. I would like a battle quaggan tonic, though.
@VoxShatterfall: Skritts are cool, but you need a bunch of them. Alone, they are not really useful. I do not think they would be a good playable race, unless the player could control a small group of skritts instead of only one.
infusion slots – ie fractals
It will be really useful for fractals. I need more AR.
For the rest of the game, not so much.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
I mean, Zhaitan has been up for decades. Primordius has been active for over 200 years, no? A year’s worth of living story doesn’t seem like much downtime compared to that.
Makes sense. Also, we are holding back their corruption with all the hearts and dynamic events out there in the open world.
No, we KNEW that we would be getting a treadmill AFTER they introduced the first one. At first they said there would never be something like this, and then implemented the exact thing they said they wouldn’t.
I apologize for not knowing what they would say in the future.
The state of the game thing was also two months ago I believe. Still rather new.
About 10 months ago, maybe more, they said that the legendary weapons would have their stats updated when another tier of equipment was introduced. “After the first treadmill”, sure, but a long, LONG time ago.
I can’t think of a way of interpreting that information other than “there will be more tiers of weapons introduced in the future”.
So yes, we knew it was going to happen since about 2 months after launch. Again, some of us knew we had to be prepared for it. Others ignored the information completely.
Remember this? It still stands.
One new tier was introduced. One. And 10 months after the ascended trinkets were introduced, the ascended weapons are coming. If 10 months were not enough to prepare, well…
(edited by Gabby.3205)
I remember that it was said a long time ago that legendary weapons would have their stats upgraded when a new tier of equipment was released.
Some months ago, they reminded us that ascended weapons and armor would be introduced this year.
We knew that there would be another tier. We always knew.
Some people saved their crystals and skins for when it happened, some didn’t. I know I did.
The asura build giant lasers and portals and nobody bats an eye…
One asura builds a video game and everybody loses their mind!
/Joker
Why should I not be able to use the ascended weapons I am going to craft in WvW?
Really, they are FINALLY making crafting useful. Everybody will have access to ascended weapons through crafting, so why should everybody gets downgraded to exotic? If I will spend my time and gold leveling up my crafting skills and crafting my ascended stuff, why can’t my opponents in WvW do the same?
What if you have a group with 10 people all with exotic gear vs a group all in rares?
Or a group with 10 people all with rare gear vs. a group all in greens?
Green vs. Blue?
Blue vs. White?
Let’s downgrade every equipment to basic levels, then?
I’m sorry Konig, I still can’t get your point. The canon thing about SAB is that an asura once came up with the idea of a video game, and then built it. That’s the context in which it exists, that’s where it stands in the lore.
What happens inside the cube does not affect the main game story line. There are no international conflicts because a fake princess was kidnapped. Nobody is calling the Pact to defeat Lord Vanquish. I would be mad too if suddenly a 8-bit video game took the whole game.
The only thing the new update does is to add another world to the game. I’m not saying that it is separated from the world like in “it never happened”. What I am saying is that the only thing about it that actually happened was this: An asura built a video game.
Granted, I wasn’t happy when they scattered SAB chests around Tyria. That was immersion breaking, alright, but I can’t see how SAB is relevant for the lore as long as the 8-bit things stay inside the cube (aside from weapon skins and minis, which I can tolerate).
I REALLY don’t get you guys.
SAB is a video game made by an asura, Moto. It is not relevant for the rest of the story at all because it is a completely different game inside GW2. Therefore, it is not “lorebraking” in any possible way.
It is coming back because there are four worlds and just one world was released with the game. The other worlds will be released from time to time, that was said back in April, when it appeared for the first time. I’m fine with not having to wait four years for the SAB to be finished.
Again, it is completely SEPARATED from the rest of the world. It is like if, I don’t know, Eir called you for a random hunt and you killed a bunny. Irrelevant for the rest of the story. Completely unrelated to the story line, just something that someone did in their free time.
lol @ Miyamoto.
Instant save.

Well, they will still be bought for theirs skins and transmuted, like it happens already. I think nothing will change.
When you buy any of them, you are not paying for the stats, but for the skins.
