“I wish juvenile wolves were bigger”
lol @ tarnished coast
these 3 tried ganking my warrior at the top of obsidian sanctum
keep in mind these were all actually level 80s, one was a thief, engineer, and warrior and they got solod (at the same time) by 1 warrior
Funny, I do not know any of these guilds, and I’m always in WvW. They are probably just trolls giving us a bad name. Thanks for killing them.
Also, it goes both ways. I too had problems with DB camping the kite, and killed them with my upleveled warrior.
Yeah… IMO Adnul shouldn’t be the most difficult one. I mean, the hylek was supposed to be the grand master or something, right? He was WAY easier to beat than Adnul was, I think.
Needless to say that after FINALLY beating Adnul (before the “fix” and not using food) I was pretty sure that I would not be able to beat the hylek at all. I was pretty surprised that he was so easy in comparison.
I’m sorry for your minor disability, but what about all the people that do not have any disability at all? And what about all the players that love jumping puzzles?
At the risk of sounding rude or cruel, I must say that they unfortunately can’t make a game for a really small portion of the player base that has some kind of disability. I’m sorry.
I have no problem with this game so I’d say everything works as it should. Maybe it’s ur hamster pc?
edit: I don’t want to troll, mind you. I just have absolutely no problems with stuff they put so your post is kinda pointless to me.
Or maybe he does not live in the USA and have a bad case of latency?
Don’t get me wrong, I do not fully agree with his post. I’m in South America playing in a NA server and I only had these problems he pointed out during the evening, when there are way too many people logged on. Oh, and my computer was specially designed to be a gaming PC and I change its drives to newer, better ones frequently, and my internet connection is stable and moderately fast.
That being said, I think the problem is not with GW2 itself, but with the distance between the servers and us. I don’t think this problem can be solved unless people that are not in the USA got some servers close to them. Of course, if that means that I would have to leave Tarnished Coast, I would prefer to deal with the latency problem.

A wardrobe system, badly needed.
Wont happen. The current system works as a great gold sink, so they are never going to change it imo.
1 thing I want to see so badly in the gemstore: race change. That is all.
Not sure what you mean by a gold sink. A gold sink means money is exiting the game. What money is leaving the game and from what?
The money we trade for gems so we can buy bank tabs and transmutation gems.
About the race change, that’s one of the few things that the devs said that it is really not happening.
@LunaticChaos
Now I see the problem. The race is just a giant timed jumping puzzle with some specific mechanics, for me, and that’s why I can’t see how letting someone else win would be any different from giving portals in any other jumping puzzle. You obviusly do not think like that, and that’s why we can not get to an agreement other than being rude to the person that is winning is a bad thing (and I said that already).
Feels a little cheaty to me. But races aren’t usually won by such narrow a margin, so it rarely matter.
Probably just wasn’t intended. An easy fix would be to put a fence around that area. It should probably have one anyway considering how many people I’ve seen take a flying leap off the ledge crossing the finish.
Oh my, I do that ALL THE TIME. Luckily it still counts as finishing the race, even though we have to go back to the checkpoint just before the finishing line and walk all the way back to the chest. If it didn’t count, I would be placed 10º to 12º many, many times. People probably get confused when they see me crossing the line after them but still getting more points.
Thanks!
Hm… Since it gets you to a point that is AFTER the finishing line, I’m pretty sure it was not intended (if it was just before it, it would be different).
It must be hard to build a map where players can use a super high jump and not to overlook this kind of stuff. Implementing new mechanics like these can be tricky.
Still, I don’t think it should be considered an exploit. Actually, there should be more shortcuts like that one to make players think outside the box and experiment with the new mechanics.
Wait, what?
I don’t know of any shortcut
Why didn’t anybody tell me that before I finally got the freaking achievement for first place? That was hard T.T
So… Where is it exactly?
-snip-
I think you are over analyzing it.
We run to the finishing line because we are STILL competing and we STILL want to win. The only reason for us not to go ahead and cross the line is because we don’t need the achievement anymore and want someone else to get it. We want to race, not to take a stroll. That doesn’t mean that we think that we are better than the next person, it just means that though we got lucky that time we do not need that luck anymore, so we are passing the ball.
Yell at us if you want. Most people will get what we are trying to do instead of over analyzing it, and that’s why they thank us instead of yelling at us like you said you would do. You know, not everybody is a jerk, but maybe you are just one of these people that thinks that everybody else is in fact a jerk, no matter what they do. If that’s the case, well, nothing I can say will change the way you think, since you will just label me as a jerk too. I must be a jerk for porting people to the goggles with my mesmer, it must be disrespectful to them because I must be implying that they can’t get to them without my help, right? I don’t think so. I prefer to look at everyone from an optimistic perspective and assume that they are doing whatever they are doing with good intentions.
And “how it should be” is how each one of us like it better. If people are having fun, great, keep it up.
PLOT TWIST:
Peggellegg the “Pirate” wins (“Quaggan is a piwate! Yarr!”).
That’s why she was brought back to the game as a mini.
Is it even possible to solve this kind of problem?
That’s a legit question. I am experiencing this problem as well but I know absolutely nothing about this kind of stuff.
I’m in South America playing on a NA server.
This is a competitive event. There is certainly no harm in helping other players, but to let people win in a competitive is absurd. An achievement is only an achievement if you achieve it. If you need to have it handed to you, whats the point?
Coming in second place out of 12 is actually pretty hard too.
You know what? It doesn’t matter either way. I got the title out of my own personal effort and I wear it with pride. I don’t care if people that would have been second if it wasn’t for the kindness of the one that was going to win also have the title. I don’t care if everybody in the whole world have the title. That feeling that I was the best that one time and that after that I did something nice to complete strangers, even something so small, is something that nobody can ever take away from me.
All I wish for all of you guys is that you have fun with the event. Enjoy it while it lasts and don’t be so bitter about something so small as a title.
If people are being the first multiple times and that is bothering you, leave and join another race instead of being rude to them.
If people are letting other people pass them and that is bothering you, leave and join another race instead of accusing them of cheating.
If people are being rude because you won, report them, leave and join another race instead of also being rude to them and giving them reasons to report you.
I’m not sure if there is a shortcut, Talindra. It is more about getting the grip of it. Sooner or later, with enough practice, you will start using the skills and power ups more naturally. Before you know it you shall get your achievement. I wish you the best of luck
Hmm. Seems I’ll need to win and then come in second, third, and fourth to determine if the rewards are worth keeping others from first. Results will be coming later.
Thank you for your efforts.
By now, most people must have their achievements anyway. There are less people in the area every day, and I am starting to meet the same people multiple times when joining the race, so I suppose there are fewer servers for the race because there are not so many people playing anymore.
TC is griefing DB hard atm. I had to kill off 3 of your kind for camping it.
DB is doing pretty much the same. I had to kill two DBs to get to the achievement because they randomly attacked me at the end of it (just after the cages).
Toaster here. I miss FA.
Edit: Just to make it clear, I do not camp the JP. Never did and never ever will do. I didn’t even finish it after getting the achievement, I just left, since I am not used to it and I didn’t want to be an easy target. I’m busy defending our third of the map.

I bet we’ll get both dungeons back eventually. All this vote will decide regarding dungeons is which one the devs adapt to fit fractals first.
Seeing how people are disregarding the dungeons and choosing based on the waypoints and black lion keys only, I hope that you win your bet. I really want MF back instead of AR. I liked them both, but the MF had so many funny moments and awesome characters… AR had a really funny moment (the asura’s death), but that’s pretty much it.
Signets and traits that make you run faster does not work in the race, it seems. I am used to my Elementalist’s adorably silly running animation while using Signet of Air and the major trait One with Air, and I noticed that the animation is WAY slower in the race.
honestly MF would be better just cause u can get the mines in the beginning and rare orbs worth 50silver now.
Also, dredges are funny.
And Braham + Rox > Kiel.
Wait. We have to choose between MF and AR as a fractal?
I was going to vote for Kiel because I want her out of the Living Story, but I like the Molten Facility better, so…
I’m going for Evon, it seems.
I would usually agree with you, since this kind of thing was pretty annoying in crab toss. But since you get nothing special for coming in first place more than once, I see no problem with letting people win. I am now just playing as always, but if I get to the finishing line in first place I just wait for the person that is in second to cross it before I do. I still feel like I won since I got to the finishing line first, but I also feel good for helping someone else to get the achievement. There is nothing wrong with being nice.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
Yup, I’m doing the same thing to be honest. I have 5000 aps too x)
You just had to click that small button on the right side of the window that pops up when you open the chest ~.~
“Decide later” or something like that.
You should get one chest per day you log in until you’ve got all the ones you are missing.
I just got the one with the Zenith weapons and discovered that I can only pick one. Bummer. Well, it can’t be helped. It will a pretty hard choice.
Give everybody involved with the Living Story a rise and a hug. And some cupcakes, too. They deserve it.
I love seeing how the characters develop. I just went to Cragstead to witness Braham and Otillia’s new conversation. I always knew Otillia wasn’t worth the effort, that arrogant, selfish, empty-headed, snooty-nosed, ungrateful monster of a woman. Poor Braham. I hope that you guys have plans for him.
When and how many times he uses his signature move seems to be completely random. I was defeated by Adnul several times before he finally decided that he would stop spamming his special move. He only used it three times and then I won (after over 20 tries). At the end, I won because I was lucky.
I remember that in another topic about Adnul someone suggested the use of food that recovers HP every second (mango pie). Maybe you should try that if luck is not your ally.
I HATE Kiel, but I want her to win so that she will be so busy with politics that we will never hear of her again. I want her out of the living story. Forever.
I’m not a huge fan of Evon either, but just because something about him gives me the creeps. I’m not sure why.
The whole place screams Cantha, doesn’t it?
I want to know more! There is a npc that tells us that the ship was built before Orr rose from the depths of the sea. Now, we can’t safely assume that it is flying since before the dragon’s awakening (just before Zhaitan and Kralkatorrik’s), but the point is that the contact with Cantha was lost when Zhaitan awoke and rose Orr.
No NPC says that it is from Cantha, but c’mon! Most humans npcs up there look Canthan, even.
I love almost everything about the new map. The only problem with it is that it is temporary (I understand, living story and all, but it is just too great to go away).
4000+ Coffers, no ticket.
First day of Bazaar, a bunch of scraps from the open world and a backpack skin from Sanctum Sprint.
I’m ok with this.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
lol I’ve done it so many times already…
I wish I have waited.
I enjoy them a lot, but I’m already a regular player and I do not intend to quit the game anytime soon, with or without updates.
If a red line appears under your skill, the target is too far and it won’t hit it.
It is my favourite minigame so far, and I only won twice (I’m terrible at it).
(edited by Gabby.3205)
Oh my, the rewards won’t be out of ANYBODY’S reach just because you will take a little longer to get them. Get over it.
Now stop fighting like a bunch of kids and crying that “someone else spent more time playing than me so I will take longer than them to get the same stuff” and start acting like the grown ups full of responsibilities that you all claim to be.
Seriously, this is getting ridiculous.
I’m having the same issue. I’m not used to my warrior yet (and it is the first time I try to play mostly melee), so I thought I was doing something wrong. Good to know I’m not the only one having trouble using Bull’s Charge in WvW.
looks Canthan-ish actually. Those orb-like lanterns were used A LOT in events like the Dragon Festival and Canthan New Year
I agree. Tengu are supposed to be based on the Japanese culture, right?
It is a common misconception, but the orb-like lanterns are typically Chinese. Japan have some traditional paper lanterns too, of course, but the round ones are not typically from Japan. Cantha was widely based on China, even though it had some of other cultures of Asia mixed together, so it would make sense for these lanterns to be Canthan and not Tengu.
Not that the devs would necessarily make that distinction, of course.
GW2 is what you get when you throw humans that are sorta steampunk-ish but still sorta medieval, industrial and war-oriented kittens, epic viking giants, British treehuggers and tiny house-elves with their magic-crystal-rainbow stuff together in the same world. That’s the atmosphere. I’m pretty sure this was never meant to be a medieval game.
My light armor wearers would like to be able to wear the male skirts (they are girls) since they look WAY better than that bunch of female lingerie.
We need more armor, period. Pants, better looking skirts, everything.
I agree. I think 4 weeks for each part of the living story would be alright. Just because there will be one new chapter every 2 weeks, it doesn’t mean that each of them MUST last for 2 weeks only. Right now, Mai Trin is both inside the dungeon and locked inside her cell, and I see no problem with that at all.
The chapters should overlap +1
Yeah… I believe that about 10% of the players are above 3k to be honest since one of my friends that I can see on the leaderboards have just a little more than 3300 and his percentage shows as 90% (while another friend of mine that is just over 1000 aps have a percentage of 60%).
Anet usually panders to the casual players, I don’t think we can be sure of anything at this point. However, I really hope that they won’t put the top rewards at, say, 2k just because most players never got more than that. That would be a bummer.
Nope. I loved the dungeon and I had no problem getting the WvW cache.
Thank you TC for flooding the JP during the first few days and FA bros for not killing me when I’ve lost track of my fellow Toasters in the dark room <3
The dungeon can be pretty boring for rangers. We can barely contribute, but it is not because of the dungeon’s mechanics, it is because our pet’s AI is terrible. Frankly, everybody knows that our pets are a handicap, and that’s why I hardly ever take my ranger to dungeons, despite she being my main. If you take a ranger to that dungeon, put a lot of traps on the floor and go to the boxes during the laser fight. Dodge as crazy, stability is not required if you can dodge the golem’s pull. You won’t be as useful to your group as a class that can actually help putting down the enemies, but it is better than being dead. With the final boss, I can’t see the problem, quite frankly, I find it pretty easy.
I finished the dungeon with my necro too and it was awesome. The dungeon’s mechanics are alright when up to half your dps isn’t tied to a stupid npc that can’t possibly stay alive during the laser fight.
What I’m saying is that the dungeon is awesome and that we the rangers will suffer either way.
Oh, and I’m a casual player. Sorry for the rant about the ranger. Things have been pretty grim to us and I know I should get over it, but I simply can’t.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
I think they will give gold and boosts for achievement points for a reason.
What I THINK that will happen is that the limited rewards (skins and acc bonuses) will be topped at a number of achievement points that are not so high but also not so low (like 5k or so) and after that you only get currencies and utility items (since these rewards can be given more than once and in a growing quantity depending on how many achievement points you have). Maybe the highest title will be given for the 90 or so people that are over 10k.
This is just speculation with a bit of logic.
Yay, Kiel is going to stick around even longer… >>;
I don’t hate her and she works well for this, she’s just… not that interesting to me. Ah well.
Hey, let’s be optimistic here. She will be elected for the council and we will never hear of her again because she will be too busy with politics.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
Because Norn is my favourite race, I must reply to this topic. I will start by saying that I love everything about them and that I wholeheartedly disagree with you, so that you don’t need to read my replies to each of your points to know that.
a.) They are giants. They shouldn’t be anywhere close to a human’s height, no matter how tall the human is.
b.) The female norns look fine. While some female humans look like kids (and norn kids are just humans that look young), the norn women are beautifully built warriors. The male norns could have lower shoulders, I give you that, but overall both male and female norn give me that important vibe that is so characteristic of the race, which is that they have Bear’s strength. Also, it is so good that the norn npcs are some of the kindest, most welcoming npcs in the game. They are gentle giants that can crack skulls anytime.
c.) I really do not want them to look like corpses. Besides, they are giants. They are bigger and have bigger muscles than any puny human. I can’t see how that’s not distinctive enough.
beware with saying ‘a lot of effort’. some might take that as either a request for grinding or would say that going thru the silly RNG as effort
hehe but seriously, yea agrees with this.
I don’t think it can get worse than already is.
Spending hours farming regular coffers and opening them hoping to get a ticket is grinding.
Doing some (different and hard) tasks for some npcs in chain and getting a ticket after finishing it is not.
I would like that. I would be able to change the order of the keys for the skills 1-5 to make it so it feels more natural to me, depending on the character.
Oh man… Kiel can’t get any more marysue-ish.
It seems that Anet thinks we need someone like that in the game. I’m starting to miss Trahearne, to be honest. That’s kinda sad.
Luckily we have interesting characters, too. It would be horrible if all of them were like Kormir/Trahearne/Kiel.
I opened over 4k of the regular coffers and didn’t get a single ticket, but I’m usually unlucky so I’m not really surprised x)
I’m ok with skins being rare, but being rare because they are entirely based on RNG is not that good IMO… I would like it better if they were rare because it would take a lot of effort to get them and, since they are acc. bound, only people that really worked hard for them would have them. That would be awesome.
Am I the only Ranger who picks pets based on their aesthetic appeal to me? O.o
Nah. I do as well. I just need to not use half of them in dungeons and have to relegate them to RP only. And it is sad. T.T
Same here x)
I wish the game would remember the names I give to them, though.
