These are all really good, but I think I love the Jennah portrait best of all. Thanks for sharing.
This is really great… and really spooky. I admire what you did, and the reasoning you used in creating the concept.
Love this! It’s especially dynamic with the background and the professions icons. Well done!
I am so glad you shared this! And thanks for also sharing your pattern, so other Guild Wars 2 fans can make their own!
Loooove these! And in two media? You’re very talented. Thanks a lot for sharing.
This is really amazing!
Guys — you have the information you need, and this thread is becoming unnecessarily caustic.
We know everyone is disappointed by the delay — no one wants this new content in your hands more than we do! But things happen, and we let you know as soon as we knew we could not hit today’s release window. So please, let’s just look forward to tomorrow. In the meantime, I’ll lock this thread.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Power outages are still a major problem in the area. It’s amazing they’re able to work at all.
It’s not the weather alone. US infrastructure sucks for decades already. In Seattle they seem to have outages all the time.
You know, I love the Pacific Northwest, but what you said really struck me. I’ve lived in another state and another country on a completely different continent, but never have I lived where there are so many bloomin’ power outages! I don’t know what it is, except that the Puget Sound region gets a lot of wind and we have (thank goodness, it’s what drew me here!) a lot of trees. So a branch goes down in Puyallup (try saying that if you aren’t a PNW resident ) and a house in Renton or Issaquah (try that one, too, just for fun
) can find itself in darkness.
Anyway, I know this is off topic, but don’t worry, I’m not directly working on the patch, so my posting to mention our region’s electrical anomalies isn’t taking away from the update!
This is about the dev chat, not the release of the update. We wanted to adjust the day for the dev chat so that we can get the most devs possible involved. The work to get the release ready continues, and will continue until it is out.
As you’re probably aware, the ArenaNet studio experienced a weather-related power outage that impacted the release timing of our February 7 update. The team is working hard on getting the build in order and out the door as soon as possible.
In light of the situation, we’re going to postpone our Reddit dev celebration. It’ll take place on February 8th in the afternoon Pacific Time. We look forward to seeing you in the game when the build goes live, and in the celebration tomorrow!
She’s likely keeping it locked until the update releases otherwise you’ll have random posts that don’t have anything to do with the actual thread topic.
Similar to how Amazon locks down reviews for products that have not been released yet. Kind of hard to give reviews for something that isn’t available just as its kind of difficult to give feedback on something that hasn’t been released yet.
Exactly. We had half a dozen off topic posts, and who wants to read through those to get to the real deal? I locked it and will unlock when the episode is live. Thanks for figuring that out and posting.
You guys hit the nail on the head: A power failure has a reverberating effect on things. It takes some time to power everything up after a outage, and the time lost in inaccessibility to the servers and the build can roll out to cause delays longer than the simple period of the outage. By that, I mean, if the power goes out for 10 minutes, recovery takes longer than that 10 minutes.
The team is continuing to work on this and thanks for your patience. (And your chocolate )
Sorry, I don’t think there are any plans to release the update notes until the update is live. But honestly, considering how s-l-o-w-l-y the forums are loading now, they may not bear the additional strain brought about by offering a preview!
As we’ve said, there was an outage yesterday and we’ll have the release of Episode 4 and all the other update goodness out to you as soon as we can.

I’ve placed the official feedback thread this time in the GW2 Discussion sub-forum. It’s a bit of an experiment as to whether it’s best to have it in the main forum that folks visit, or in this more purpose-built forum for Living World.
Find the new thread here. Thanks for contributing!
Might be a good time to remind you that if you didn’t “bank” Episode 3, do so now, before Episode 4 launches.
They’re 50 mins late.
Please remember that releases are not on a set schedule by a specific hour. While an individual forum member might point to their anticipation of a specific time for a release, in fact we announce a day and not an hour.
So please hold tight and we’ll see you in Head of the Snake soon.
Pssst — just a reminder: Please don’t post until you’ve played.
[[This message will self-destruct later, in an attractive, bloodstone-colored puff of smoke.]]
Hey all,
As you know, Episode 4 of Living World Season 3 — Head of the Snake — releases today. As always, communications team members will be gathering feedback from players on all aspects of the release and will share it with the entire studio. Members of the dev team also will be reading your thoughts, as well.
This is our official feedback thread, as we’ve created for each episode this season. And as normal, we’d like to use this thread to gather your high-level input. Sooo…
After you have played through the episode, please share your overall thoughts on Episode 4.
Please keep it to 50 words or fewer in this thread, offering your top-level overall impression here. More detailed analysis or feedback would be more than welcome in alternative threads and you can rest assured such comments will also be read. I hasten to add there’s no need to rush through the content, we’ll be reading this thread for a week or more.
Thank you for sharing, and I hope you have a great time in the game!
This is a serious subject, and we would like to keep it on topic. That means we expect no name-calling, finger pointing, or other confrontational posts.
If you have been impacted by the results of the investigation and believe that this happened in error, please contact Customer Support to discuss the situation.

Phew. Although I’m not sure anyone has ever really lusted after a statue of a chicken.
Are you serious? It’s on the Top 10 Most Requested Guild Hall Decoration Lis… Ok, ok, maybe not Top 10, but he’s adorable and some of us want him for sure!
The glorious chicken is the first thing my guests see in the guild hall. Kudos on the decorations, they’re great (and affordable!).
That being said, as the leader (and sole member) of the 10 years old GW 1 & 2 guild “Pigs Can Fly”, I can’t wait till the year of the pig in 2 years (please Anet, make it a pig, not a boar as in GW1, please…).
Well, that’s a cool idea. We don’t want to ham-per your decorative instincts, right? Or… maybe we do?

Following up on today’s news about the release of Living World Episode 4 on February 7th, we wanted to let you know that the Lunar New Year Festival will run until the launch of the new episode.
So you have another week to gather those lucky envelopes, participate in Dragon Ball, buy goodies in the Black Lion Trading Company, or add that coveted Rooster Statue to your guild hall. Enjoy!

Ok, so I looked, I really looked, but I think I was parsing for “Episode 4” and not the episode’s title, “Head of the Snake.” In the meantime, someone else made a thread, so we’ve engaged Merge-o-Tron™ and we have one big ol’ thread here in GW2 Discussion on the topic of the next episode of Living World Season 3!
Thanks for your understanding of the merged thread, and my apologies for starting an unnecessary new one.
Sorry didn’t mean to steal anyone’s thunder, was just excited and wanted everyone to see. <3 you Gaile!
Are you kidding? No apology needed! You’re on it, and I love that. (I just missed the whole thread, which is on me.) Thanks for posting — it’s great to see the excitement and the anticipation!
Is the info being emailed out this week as well, for both ep4 and the half price offer?
Yes, we’ll be e-mailing. If someone has opted-in for our communication, they will get an e-mail. Thanks for asking. (If you want to forward to friends, I suppose you could do that. We only send e-mails to people who have given us permission to do so.)

Yep. We did ourselves no favors having so many different potential placements for a thread about the episodes. Thanks for sharing those links, Donari.

Please contact Customer Support to allow them to assist you. Thanks.
Rather than taking time to make a forum topic, may I suggest you simply report (click the flag to the right of each post) and allow us to analyze the situation and potentially change the topic to something meaningful? While we don’t edit the content of a post we will edit a subject line in order to make the forum index clearer and more concise.
Thanks.
A message from the PvP Team:
In order to ensure the league leaderboard maintains a display of healthy competition, we will be enabling a new minimum games requirement. Players who do not have the minimum number of games required to stay on the leaderboard will be removed each time decay is calculated.
The current season is more than half complete, so the games threshold will be set to a lower value than what we expect future seasons to use. The current minimum is 40 games. Future seasons will ramp up the minimum game requirement over the length of the season and a UI component will display this value.
We are excited to see how fierce the competition gets as the season comes to close. See you in The Mists!
Thanks to everyone for helping Thralia get started on the game.
Thralia, your posts were removed because they did not simply ask for help, but also, like this one, made continuing complaints about necessary forum moderation. You are welcome — even encouraged! — to ask for help here. But please don’t continue to refer to past post removals, especially when they were initially removed because you were cross-posting in multiple forums, and especially since you were only given a note, no points, no penalty, and the moderators are simply doing their job of keeping the forums on topic and focused. You can imagine how the value of the forums would drop enormously if we had people making random duplicate posts all over the place!
Now that you’ve found this forum, and several players have shown themselves willing to help you, you should be good to go. And although you said you find the Guild Wars 2 Wiki “useless,” I assure you that, even as a veteran player, I find the wiki incredibly useful. It is a resource that I use virtually every day. Please note there are “Discussion” options for every single topic on the wiki. So if you have a question, you can post on the tab under the main page and someone may be able to expand on information if you need more details. Or, again, you’re welcome to post your questions here.
Best of luck in the future! And again, forum folks, thanks for helping this new player get started!

Hey all,
I wanted to make you aware of a new program related to GW2 merchandise. We have partnered with WeLoveFine, and they are looking for ideas for items to make with a Guild Wars 2 flavor! I love the idea, and even more I love that:
So head over to the WeLoveFine Fan Forge to vote, or to submit your entry for consideration.
I’ve been voting and there are some fantastic things on the slate. So help us choose what to make — no obligation, of course — and let’s get some merch out there!

I really do enjoy the kitten filter
It does help to keep the forum nice to read. It even changes the posts that would otherwise be full of kitten and kittens into readable versions that sound way less idiotic.
Are you kittening kidding me? You kittening think that godkitten kittening kitten bullkitten kittening up my entire post sounds less kittening idiotic than proper godkitten kittening swearwords? Jesus kittening Christ. The kittenty kitten filter is kittening bullkitten.
Seriously, for kittens sake. Aren’t we all adults here? What about the old saying “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me”?
kitten. kitten. kitten. kittening kittens. kittening bullkitten. Godkitten it. I hate kittens.
The reason it’s here is because this is the forum of a business, not an unofficial fan generated forum. This is the face that ANet presents to any one who comes by to check and to all who post. A company that bills itself as being friendly and actively keeping the player base friendly can hardly have an official forum full of profanity. It looks bad.
In addition, profanity heats up conversations and derails threads as people get angry. Using the kitten filter takes the bite out of kitten kitten you and allows tempers to cool.
It serves a purpose even if you don’t like it.
Well put, and thank you!
nope, only the old ones over the trading post.
But you could be banned for this post because it breaks the ToS.
This post was re-instated so that I could answer the question. It’s not asking to buy, but asking about buying. I wanted to take the opportunity to give information that may help this player, and others, keep their account safe.
Press ‘O’ while in game. Brings up your trading post. Go to buy more gems. Buy gems. Exchange gems for gold. Buy legendary weapon off trading post.
The trading post interface is its own web browser. So that right there, is the website you are looking for.
Edit* Screenshot of some ones TP that got infected with Malware. So yea, its a web browser. (not my own screenshot)

Correct. There is no source for in-game items that will not (1) put your account in jeopardy of termination for breach of the User Agreement and (2) put you at risk of account theft.
I see the incidents, and they happen often. Between getting hacked or having your account stolen, it’s not worth the risk. Breaching the User Agreement is not wise.
Buy only through the Gem Store/Black Lion Trading Company.
Thank you for your patience while we addressed this issue. The content has been re-enabled again.

We all have our favorites, but the Kittenizer™ has been with us for years, and I’m not sure we’re willing to move up to the Skritt-o-Matic 2000 quite yet.
The skritt just hit the fan…the dream is dead…kitten everything!
You ain’t kitten!

Sounds like fun, guys!
A Message from Matt Pennebaker
Hello Legendary Crafters!
I wanted to give you all a heads up about an upcoming change. We discovered a bug in the crafting recipes for the new legendary weapons Eureka and Shooshadoo. One of them used a Visionary Crystal and one used a Legendary Inscription to craft the third tier precursor. Neither was wrong but it was actually intended that both items be used in the crafting process. To resolve this, when the next legendary weapon is released, it and all weapons going forward will use a new item, the Visionary Inscription, in their third tier precursors. The Visionary Inscription is crafted from a Visionary Crystal and a Legendary Inscription. In addition, we will adjust the recipe for Eureka’s and Shooshadoo’s third tier precursors to use this new item in order to maintain consistency between all of the recipes. If you are working on Eureka or Shooshadoo now, you will have until the next weapon is released to craft it using the current recipe.
We have disabled a portion of this content again while we investigate a possible continuing issue. We will let you know when that content is re-enabled.
You can preview all dyes in-game by checking ‘show locked’ in the dye menu. So if anyone wanted to see how it compares to other black dyes they can do that before buying it.
Meh, I will never understand this obsession with black dyes, they are so boring.
It depends what you do with them. I agree it’s boring if you just dye your whole outfit black (and I say that as someone who often wears all black in real life), but if you use them with other dyes it can look really good.
Agree. I need to get a true black to go with my orange for Halloween.
Do you really need a blacker black than the ones available in-game, though? That’s kinda what I’m talking about here, that it’s already at the point you can use black dye that makes the armor featureless…
I guess the next step is a “black hole” costume to match the cosmic gathering tools, so we end up with this black void wandering around, occasionally popping out this galaxy to eat an ore node…
That’s a good point. I do think we want to remain in the Tyrian galaxy and not one far, far away.
I’d also suggest that crediting “the Guild Wars 2 development and design team” is a good way to do this – it’s reasonable to say that the team, working together, rather than an individual artist from it, inspired you.
(Generally. I’m making the assumption that the people reviewing this are using good judgment to read what you say and kitten it from a sensible, neutral-ish point of view. If they have a checklist of names and you have to list the correct ones, all bets are off.
Agreed.
The OP is admiring the work that the team produced using the tools available to this game, not just the original design or mock-ups from a single person.
I agree. Plus we work so collaboratively that it is unusual for someone to be the only person with “hands on” in a specific element of the game. While credit where credit is due is very nice, I like the idea of the team credits and I think the members of the teams themselves would agree.
