Hello Rub,
I’m so sorry that you did not receive a response to your post. However, it’s only fair to point out that you posted this during the time we were heading out of the office on holiday break and weeks after selections were made for the Wintersday show. You see, I had to curate art very early December in order to accommodate an early recording session to work around the holidays. The show actually aired a week before your posted, so you may already be aware of these facts.
Again, I’m sorry that you did not receive a personal response to your post, but it’s simply not humanly possible for me to respond to every post on the forums and after the Wintersday are was selected, it didn’t occur to me to go back and revisit an older thread. Please understand that there is no lack of interest or lack of appreciation for the project you undertook. It’s marvelous! And it looks like it was a ton of fun to put together!
Based on this sentence in Gaile’s post, I… just couldn’t resist.
“They will be able to sort through and kitten various offerings,…”
Dwayna bless our word filter. Seriously, I love it! :-/ Let’s use “analyze” or “review” rather than the kittenkittenkitten word I tried to use, which is a synonym for the above. (What is this, the 412th time I’ve made the same error in using variations of as-sessment?)

Word on the borderlands from actual Anet devs is that they had to upgrade their guild hall the same way the rest of us did.
And that word is correct. We did not start out with a mighty guild hall. We upgrade over time. So let’s put that rumour to bed, shall we, since it’s not true?
Ok, let’s get a few things out there. This thread is ok — it could actually be really valuable to those who participate in it on a reasonable level. I see it as an honest attempt by a good player to offer help to other players. Having said that, let’s keep the tone relatively respectful and — as I’ve said before — save the overt aggression for the battleground.
A few of you were concerned about the use of the term “pleb.” It’s not the greatest term, but I seem to remember when newbie/noob/n00b was considered the height of insult and it’s now commonplace and pretty acceptable across the board.
The ground rule is this:
If you’re going to report, look at what’s being said. If you’re going to try an attack or a counter attack, may I politely introduce you to your choice of PvP modes rather than doing it on the forums?

If you wish to make a shirt for private, personal (non-profit) use, please see our Content Terms of Use: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-content-terms-of-use/
Thank you for you response Gaile.
I have looked at that site as soon as it became available with GW2 products, unfortunetly, the visual look of the T-shirts I want to make can not be achived using their tools, and that is why I am looking for a way to get proper permissions to use GW2 concept art to incorporate in my design.
I also looked at the “Content terms of use” link you provided, and it states the folowing:
May I use your art or images for items, such as clothing, toys, or other game-related goods?
Our art assets-be they concept art, in-game screenshots, verbal content, or renders-are all copyrighted materials. Their use is strictly prohibited unless approved in advance and in writing by ArenaNet. Specific questions concerning the appropriate use of our content should be directed to community@arena.net.so I guess my next step would be to contact ANet using that email, and try to get Writen approval in order to be able to bring my idea to life.
I will consider making one for personal use anyway, and if I am able to get consent, I can then see if anyone else would like them (I know you will ;P).
Thank you once more, and I hope to see you in game.
I don’t mean to discourage you, but writing for permission will not be fruitful or productive. The fact is, we get a lot of requests of that nature, and in fact, I am the company representative who addresses them. People ask about every kind of item: novels, plushies, stickers, clothing, printed art, action figures, and much more. However, we are not able to offer permission for individuals to make and sell items based on our IP (intellectual property).
Setting up licenses, vetting products, doing quality checks, and so forth is a time-consuming and labour-intensive business. And because it’s our IP, our involvement on that level would be required. Because we’re not able to engage in the lengthy process of individual licensing, we formed a partnership with WeLoveFine, as they are experts in this very field. They will be able to sort through and kitten various offerings, then bring them to us for final approval before manufacturing the items and offering them for sale.
So the only opportunity to create merchandise, such as t-shirts, using our brand is to work through the WeLoveFine Fan Forge.
Thanks for understanding.

Understandable :\ been using mace shield in my DH, not using traps and not using bow as well.
Actually using mace shield combo for 4 years.
And @OP NSP used to have few devs as well.
I am NSP. Have been since the beginning. I bounce around a lot, but that’s “home.”
dual bow? dual bow, Dual.. bow? two bow?
the more i think about your super secret strat the more i wanna try it
I can’t say I highly recommend it, but I absolutely love it. It suits me enormously. And in my defense, I’m not a “Mash 1” player. I have a full range of skills and I know how to use them. Even if they may be a little weak from time to time.
Hey White Wolf,
Although this is a “community creation” because you’re a member of the community sharing an idea, I think this may have a better placement in the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum, rather than here in Community Creations.
Feel free to post there!
Some of the ideas have been amazing, splendid, and unbelievably good!
Keep ’em coming, folks — Keep ’em coming!
Interesting idea, Jomaz.
Suggestions made on these forums are read and considered by all sorts of team members. And because they are posted here, we are able to use suggestions, in a legal sense. (We could not do so if someone wrote us a letter or sent us links to a website with ideas.)
So yes, you could make a suggestion in the Raids forum (since that’s the topic you mentioned) and I’m sure it will be seen.
That’s a great start! I look forward to seeing more and you complete the images. It’s a big project, but I think it’ll be wonderful when you finish it up. (You should frame it as a family portrait!)
This is such good work!
How fun! Thanks for sharing that — it’s great.
If you see an ANet dev on your server, its because they’re normal people who play the game too when they’re not working. ANet devs don’t take sides in WvW in any official manner, they just have ingame toons, sometimes they go to WvW, sometimes they claim stuff. That’s why you’ll only see them in NA primetime, rarely on EU primetime even in EU servers, or OCX/SEA times. They’re employees at ANet who go home after a long day of work and open up GW2 to chill and some of them play WvW.
It’s all a matter of your servers. For instance, I know there’s one guy who plays on SoS pretty regularly. He’s the one who claimed Air Keep for SoS today, I believe.
There’re no representatives. No select groups. Just individuals playing a game and using the ArenaNet guild in the same way as any other guild.
You got that exactly right. A lot of us play on our own time, and we have no special “dev secret skillz” to help a team in any capacity.
A wild ninja dev apears… i ment Ranger >:}
And Anet devs have special skills, its called “play squishy and gank targets”
As someone who plays a dual-bow Ranger, I never critize someone else’s build. That way lead me down the path of embarrassment and humiliation.
Deppends if its pvp, its needed to criticize others and self build.
The advice I get is “Don’t play dual bow.” That’s not going to work for me. So yeah, critiques and improvement are important, but for me, there’s a limit!

What a lovely gesture! Kudos to your guild for being so thoughtful.

This is really pretty. Can’t wait to see the others!
These are all great!
That is wonderful! I really like the juxtaposition of the narration, imagery, and ultimately music.
I should mention that I can’t feature it on Community Showcase Live because it uses copyright materials. BBC copyrights are in place, so unfortunately we can’t show it. But I hope everyone will give it a look, because it’s really great!
I want to say how much I appreciate all this info. I’m going to leave this up over the weekend, then make up an attractive pie chart with sound effects and glitter and … Ok, ok, I’m probably not going to make a pie chart. But I am going to put together a set of stats. Sure, we’re just one player each, and yes, this is anecdotal. But I think it’s worthwhile information, and it seems to me our QA Team will be able to give this activity a good look.
Thanks again!
Ive had posts infracted just for saying ‘scrub’. Not even directly calling someone out. How is this post allowed to stay?
You called out a specific group of players on a named server with that “scrub” comment. It was removed, appropriately, because why be nasty and what value does such a comment have? You were merely warned, not given any points or penalty. I’m sorry if that bothered you, but consider how you post in the future and it won’t happen again.
As for this thread: If something is truly across the line, flag it for moderator review. Don’t do that because you don’t like the OP, don’t like someone in the thread, or don’t agree with the opinions expressed. But if you feel something breaches the Forum Code of Conduct — as your scrub comment did — then let the moderators know.
Edit to add: If the comment immediately above mine remains as it’s written, it will be moderated. You cannot name-call and insult — that’s just wrong.

This thread is a lively discussion. That’s cool. But please try to keep the antagonism dialed back. Maybe save it for the field of combat?
Are you suggesting gw2 players need to up their trash talk game?
Nah, we’re good on that. I’d go Goldilocks on this and say the level is “juuust right.”
Even Gaile is at the mercy of Helseth’s salt-mine if he were to get his post deleted, considering he probably has a majority of the PvP viewers left in the game lol.
Nah, I’m not at anyone’s mercy, nor feeling any sort of intimidation because of an Electric Light Orchestra rating. ~snicker~
I respect any player’s right to express an opinion, and this one seems to have inspired a good conversation and several interesting points. Someone being controversial isn’t a problem and I’m not seeing anything that needs to be “managed” as far as the tone or the content. Are you?

I want to add to the above: If there is an issue with our service, contacting Customer Support lets us know that and allows us to address it. So whether the issue is “them” or “us,” the value in submitting a ticket is present in either case.
Thanks.
Question asked. Advice given, and valid advice. Those who point out that “ArenaNet (or NCSOFT) does not control your ISP” are correct! There no apologist behavior going on here, just helpful advice on how you can work with your ISP to correct an issue with your connection. Does it impact your ability to play our game? Yes. Might it be different depending on what you’re playing? Yes. But ultimately, just as we can’t reach into someone’s computer and replace the hamsters running it, we can’t control the routing that happens outside our service.
Please contact Customer Support, and, if they advise it, take their advice with the good and honest intentions with which it is offered.

I use Princess, Star of Gratitude, and Sentient Anomaly. It’s not instant, but I find it effective. In fact, I’m now happy to get Dragonite Ore!
We have those, but we need something now for the 3 ascended hot map items (bottles, auric dust, leyline sparks). Once we’ve crafted any items that are needed by them (or are full on fulgurite) all they do is just sit there piling up.
You make a good point. I was focusing on the items in the title.
I want to gather some info on this. You may have noticed this thread started a year ago, and we made changes after last year’s Wintersday that substantially improved the way the “Skritt Hit” activity worked. However, I have heard and read a few comments about concerns related to this year’s event and I had a lengthy conversation about this in the game last night, as well.
Can you post your experiences? Maybe like this:
If you can complete the activity, do you make adjustments so such things as aiming and waiting until they are no longer invulnerable? (I confess to trying to smack them right away, and they really are invulnerable for a few seconds. )
If you cannot successfully complete the activity, have you tried making adjustments to your aiming and timing, as mentioned in this thread?
Thanks for your help!

I love it, and Sharm did a great job!
We have disabled content involving Rurik’s Engagement Ring until an exploit related to that item has been addressed.
This started out, a month ago, as one person’s opinion based on speculation that was founded on incomplete information. It’s now become little more than an argument, with appropriate and practical questions dismissed or refuted with yet more speculation or opinions stated as fact. It’s time to close the topic.

There’s an opportunity to submit your ideas and even get a commission, if the art is selected!
This is clearly a topic that forum members would like to discuss. I feel it started out badly, but has enough interest to consider letting it run. However, in order to leave it running we’re asking that you please use good judgment in what you say, and make your post factual and respectful, not antagonistic, aggressive, or rude. Stating an opinion as an opinion is ok; stating it as fact isn’t appropriate. The moderators will keep an eye on this thread, and if any of you see posts you are concerned about — aggressive, combative, disrepectful — please flag them for review. If the consensus is that this thread is inappropriate, we’ll close it. Thanks.

Thanks for pointing this out. rapthorne is correct — the positively BEST way for these reports to come to us is through a support ticket. Our CS Team reviews such reports and would normally be the one to reach out to a company, host, or individual about using our assets in an unapproved manner.
I will forward this one, but in the future I hope anyone who sees this sort of thing will contact Customer Support by clicking the link at the top of the page, then clicking “Submit a ticket.”
Please contact Customer Support directly if you wish to help with an investigation. You say you solved the problem, but if you wish to discuss with CS, please open a ticket. Thanks for your help.
I was wondering: I can check with the team, of course, but perhaps the “free play” period was designed to allow people to get into the map, choose their location, and be ready to start a round of songs. If that was eliminated, might there be complaints about how we players are always joining in the middle of a session, which means we’d lose the ability to get maximum rewards? I’m just speculating here, but it crossed my mind.
That looks like a confession to never having completed a single full session of Bell Choir in the 4 years that it has been around…
There is already a break between every song to wait for new players.
No confession whatsoever. This year, so far, captured in screenshots. Clearly I play.
oh my completed 10x
sounds like rekt ;D
Speaking of sounds, I hear those kitten (yes, I wrote the word for “young cat”) songs in my sleep.

I’ll add my anecdotal experiences with joining Bell Choir. I rarely get the error message either the OP or Gaile mentioned. I do often run into the issue of joining during free play. I don’t agree with the idea that this occurs simply because free play is the longest part of Bell Choir. If that was the case, I would expect to join Bell Choir at random times during its length. I simply don’t see that. I reliably join within 30 seconds of the tenth minute(right at the beginning) or within 30 seconds of the fourth minute (Free play). I have found no reliable way to influence which scenario plays out. Neither quitting immediately and re-joining or waiting out the free play time seem to change the chances of getting a working instance. It is extremely frustrating to join during free play over and over, repeatedly watching loading screen after loading screen.
I will agree with Blockhead about the chances of seeing a fix. This undocumented feature has been a part of Bell Choir long enough too call it tradition.
Since a lot of people leave at the start of Free play, the matchmaking tries to fill these empty spaces. It is much rarer to have people leaving in the middle of the songs, that is why you get either at the beginning or the end.
This makes sense to me, too.
I just ran a test — casual, not official.
Most of the time, I got in before a round started, but occasionally I got in, chose my part, and then went “Ugh, free play.” I think it can be particularly noticeable because if you don’t look at the score, you may think you’re ready to start the first piece, then it’s wait for free play to run out, then wait for the next round to start. The free-play is the longer period, as I said, but there’s also the whole spin-up time for the new one, so it becomes even more noticeable. I mean, I could time it to the second, but I think y’all know what I mean — it’s the larger chuck of time.
As for fixing it, I’m not sure if that’s possible. I’m trying to think how that would work: Would you get blocked at the entrace with a “The round is in session” message? Would you get that message inside the map, if you clicked on the snowman and he told you, “We’re currently in free play; check back later?” I’m wondering what would be the best mechanic, because certainly it’s not possible to spin up a new round when ever a single player enters the map.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I’ve been playing a lot of Bell Choir lately. (Love it!) I have worked around the problems you mention by leaving the instance and rejoining if I get the error message. (I get it quite rarely, actually.) I think the situation where you are joining during the free-play is coincidental — I don’t think that is an issue. Free play, after all, runs longer than any particular song phrase, right? If that is true — and it seems true to me — then it would be sort of mathematically probable that you might hit that longer session more often.
Please also remember that if you get a message about the world being full when you try to enter the instance, you should try again right away. I’ve never had to try more than twice to get into the Bell Choir in that manner. (Sometimes I go through the gate, sometimes I accept through the NPC — either will work.)
We’re sorry for the occasional issues that arise, but I hope that the suggestions above will be helpful to you. See you on that magical, musical circle!
Bug Fixes:
This thread doesn’t seem to have the potential to provide any meaningful or factual communication. The developers work on, and care about, all modes of gameplay. WvW has been given unprecedented levels of communication, interaction, and engagement in recent months, so the timing of these comments is particularly ironic. I can only assume that someone did an anecdotal post count and concluded that there’s some sort of bias in favor of PvP. Yet in another period of time, the counts might lean towards any other gameplay mode.
ArenaNet developers work on, care about, and support the different modes of playing Guild Wars 2 with equal passion, dedication, and interest.
Hi JReene. I would suggest that this is a great inclusion in the GW2 Discussion Sub-forum, in a sticky post about Gem Store suggestions. Do add it — it’s a great idea!
Thank you for your patience while we addressed this issue. The issue has been resolved.
I have the feeling Evan has a lot of job security right about now. This is a good thing, he’s like the anti-Gaile Gray
Hey! Wait a minute — what does that even mean!?

We’ve noted an issue today with gem purchasing when someone uses a redirected payment type such as PayPal or the paysafecard. This issue may result in the display of the following erroneous error message: “Unfortunately there was an error with the payment provider. Please try again later. If this error still persists please contact customer care.”
We want you to know that orders placed during this time are completing successfully, although there may be a delay in gem fulfillment. Our billing provider is working with us to correct this issue.
If you placed an order with one of the affected payment types today, please allow extra time for the gems to arrive. If after several hours you have not received your gems, or if you accidentally duplicated your purchase and do not want the additional gems, please contact Customer Support.

We became aware of a problem created when Personal Story steps were reordered last year. When the reordering took place, some players were unable to complete their Personal Story. This sometimes happened if they left the Personal Story either to play Living World Seasons 2 or 3 or to play Heart of Thorns.
For players who were affected by this bug, we developed a correction that was implemented in the build of 13 December. Those who were impacted by the issue received an in-game mail when the correction was made. If your Personal Story progress was previously blocked, you should be able to continue it at your convenience.
If you believed you had completed your Personal Story, but there actually was a gap in completion due to the story reordering, your progress has been reset to your last completed quest step. This is intended to allow every player the opportunity to experience their Personal Story in its entirety.
This fix targets those characters having a gap somewhere in their Chapter 7 and/or 8 story lines only. No other Personal Story, Heart of Thorns, or Living World quests should be affected by this fix. If your progress within these Chapters has been reset and you received the letter from Scholar Aiti about your story, then you had a gap in the Personal Story at some point, even if you were not able to see that you were blocked from resuming your story. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but hope that the opportunity to experience your story at its fullest will help make up for our error.
