Thank you for making us aware of this. I was in the game about the time this was posted and had no difficulty accessing the Guild Hall in multiple guilds. I’m not sure what’s going on, but rest assured this is being discussed internally! I’ll post as we get more info.

This will ’ve between 11 and midnight European central time. Will devs be on EU servers or only NA?

I’m glad you asked about this. We’ll be in the NA zones between 2 and 3 PM Pacific time / 5 and 6 PM Eastern Time / 9 and 10 GMT, but our EU Team members will be participating in the event earlier, most likely in the morning hours of October 18th… well “morning” for those of us in the studio, on the west coast of the US.

So you’ll be likely to find some of us just about any hour that you join on Tuesday, October 18th. We’ll hope to see you there!!

Answers:

  • I did reach out to a few members of MGT — thanks for the recommendation.
  • I am confident that the game will be working just fine — no need to postpone. If there are hot fixes, we’ll just log and join back in.
  • Yes, a dance party seems very likely.
  • Yes, a conga line seems even more likely. It’s been a long, long time since I led a conga, and although we don’t have that handy /follow system that we had in Guild Wars, I believe we can make it work.

Oh and the EU Team will be joining in early in the day on Tuesday (10/18) so you will likely catch some of us at different times of the day.

I’m looking forward to seeing you guys in the game!

As other have accurately pointed out, Living World stories are offered on a complementary basis to those who acquire them during their open periods. This season that’s the period from the release of one episode until the launch of the next episode, so thus far each has been offered for free for a period of approximately 2 months. The Living World story in Season 2 is offered to those who did not play during that period for in-game gold, which can be acquired for free by playing the game, or it can be acquired with the use of purchased gems. Nothing blocks progression and there are alternatives to acquire sufficient points to level one’s masteries without being involved with Season 2 at all.

Were the living story episodes listed as part of HoT? Did they state that all those who purchased HoT would have full access to those episodes?

No, as you can see here there is nothing whatsoever about unlimited access to Living World episodes.

All I’m asking for is equal transaction meaning equal access,

But you’re not. You’re asking for free access to content that was intended to be offered, for free, for a limited period of time. That was clearly stated, and there is nothing incorrect or unfair in offering it within that framework.

Research is always a prudent thing to do. The game is advertised as exactly what it is. Core content, expansion content, buy to play. Living Story (optional) content, free if you log in during its active period(s). Otherwise, acquired at no cost by playing the buy-to-play content, or, if impatient, for cash.

Good luck.

You need 49 Mastery points to complete all Core Tyria Mastery tracks. You can acquire 50 Mastery points without ever touching Living World Season Two.

Both of these statements are particularly relevant and uphold what I said above.

At the end of the day, many forum members have offered you objective and reasonable responses, yet you dismiss them all. At this point, the thread has digressed into a circular discussion and merits closure.

Our billing provider will be doing routine maintenance on Sunday, October 16, 2016 between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM Pacific Time (UTC -7). During that time, purchases will be processed completely and items or products will be transmitted. However, e-mail confirmation receipts may be delayed until the end of maintenance. A couple of devs asked me to find a group that will attend events and play music. By that I mean you can “hire” the group to perform and they do so for payment in in-game gold.

Does anyone have contact info for that particular group?

Thanks for any info you can share!

Balance Changes Upcoming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

A message from the Skills Team:

Greetings, Tyrians!

We are here today to talk about some of the build-thematic changes that will be coming with the next balance iteration. Depending on your chosen profession and your role in combat, these changes may require some stat-swapping on your gear. We feel that giving a bit of a “heads-up” is appropriate.

One of the most notable changes being made is to the healing values of the Druid as a primary healer. Base values for the Celestial Avatar heals will be reduced, while the healing power contribution will be enhanced significantly. The reasoning for these changes is that while we are excited about the Druid being an incredibly strong healer, we would also like to see that role as one of many choices in your attribute build.

Similarly, there will be changes in boon duration and boon application for a few professions. For the Revenant, we’ll be looking at reducing Naturalistic Resonance’s base boon duration. For Mesmer, we’re looking at making Signet of Inspiration’s boon sharing functionality a bit more controlled, giving each shared boon a fixed duration. To help compensate for these general reductions, we’ll be increasing both damage and a few different baseline boon durations.

As this update rolls out we will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these changes, along with the remainder of the balance updates, and will make additional adjustments and tweaks as necessary. Thanks very much for your time!

Hey there,

With the launch of Halloween, ArenaNet team members are planning to invade Lion’s Arch to have a mini-celebration with you!

When: Tuesday, October 18, 2016
Time: 2:00 to 3:00 PM Pacific time (-7 GMT)

You might spot devs:

  • Taking some time in the Clocktower
  • Romping through the a-mazing Labyrinth
  • Showing their special pow-ers in the Costume Brawl
  • Trying to have the last say against the Mad King
  • Generally hanging out to visit with players in the spirit of the season

We’ll be spreading out around the world, and will do out best to spend time on a lot of different worlds and servers.

Note: A few of us will also be meeting up in LA earlier in the day, when the festival kicks off, and you’re welcome to join us then, too. Look for that to happen mostly on the EU Servers.

Hope to see you there!

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Halloween-Remember-what-you-told-us-last-year/first#post6342970

It is my understanding that the Labyrinth will give Core Tyria XP this year. None of the other activities will do so, but they were never intended to do so. So if the question is about Labyrinth, then yes, I believe that’s on the docket.

Gem Store Suggestion/Opinion

If this is another what would we like in the gem store thread, I’d agree we need more variety and customization in bodies, faces and armors, outfits, and more dances, which could all be sold in the gem store. ( everyone looks so similar to me) And I would totally LOVE some stylish armor/outfits for a change like other games make. I’m sure Anet could make them too or maybe consider hiring some one who could . Something like this would be cool.

This is not that thread. This is an information thread about what sales are happening. A red post not far above yours asks people not to debate and discuss here.

Hopefully you will see this before your post and all the following derails (which are not your fault), including this post of mine, get moved or deleted.

That post, and many others was placed in this thread by a Moderator. I think they merged into the wrong thread. All the ‘derails’ were a separate thread down in GD.

Correct. The sticky thread, which is intended to be a listing of Gem Store offerings, became a victim of conversational zerging, it seems through a moderator error. I’ve split this off so that if you wish to continue the conversation, you may do so.

The sticky thread should be left without conversation, please, as it’s intended as a quick and easily-reviewed listing of Gem Store items.

Thanks.

Staff Impersonation

Folks, at this time and for the foreseeable future, we will not be able to expand the list of reportable offenses through the in-game report system. It’s a nice goal, and we’ve requested a modest expansion that would add a few extra types of offenses. (It’s not realistic to have every single possible infraction, as you can imagine.) However, such an expansion is far more complex than, say, expanding a drop down on a website. Expanding the in-game report list would require involvement of the Web, Programming, and Systems Teams and frankly, there are a number of other things that require more immediate attention.

So again, it’s important to note that we do have a working and workable system that anyone can use. Please consider using the in-game system as it is designed and submitting a ticket for other instances of concern. That will allow us to take care of all issues of concern as efficiently and meaningfully as possible.

If you feel that something is not being handled as promptly as it should be, feel free to talk to CS via a ticket.

Thanks so much.

Release pages usually come out with release. I anticipate that yes, there will be such a page.

The labyrinth is always my fav and since Halloween itself falls on a Monday, that means we get at least 3 weeks this year \o/

Not sure I will pluck up the courage to do clocktower though………..

I’ve usually bailed after a few tries, but I’m told once you get to a certain point, you can progress, with trials, to the end. I’m definitely going to give it a go!

Staff Impersonation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Previous

We try to keep the list of reportable actions as small as possible, to make it quick and easy to make a report. Because staff impersonation is pretty rare, we don’t include it on the list. It definitely is something we take seriously, as it can have major consequences, and the person involved needs to be handled as quickly as possible to prevent negative impact on a player or players.

I would not use the in-game report system for this sort of issue, because there is no in-system way to tell agents why someone is being reported. Better: Submit a ticket and include:

  • Date
  • Time and Time Zone
  • Exact spelling of the character you believe is involved in impersonation
  • Brief description of what took place

Impersonation can be a really bad thing. So please do report if you have evidence that it has taken place. Even if you just suspect something wrong is going on, it does not hurt to submit the details, so that CS can review and see if the person involved needs to be actioned or removed from the game.

Thanks for helping us with this.

I updated my comments to explain how to report in-game chat (with a definition of channels) and to explain how to report emote abuse. Thanks for asking about both things.

The use of emotes is not a problem. But if they are being abused — if they are being used in an attempt to inject unacceptable comments into the game — the CS Team would like to know about it so that they can review and take the appropriate action.

Thanks.

Yes, this is true. If you find the content offensive, not because you don’t like any roleplaying, but because a certain segment of roleplaying is crossing the line into sexually-related content, abusive chat, truly “offensive” content in the standard definition of the word, then use the in-game report system, please, and the team will review.

How do we use the in game report system for /me?

You’d have to run around the area to find where the player is, then right-click their character and select the report option. For explicit/offensive chat, verbal abuse should be the correct category.

For something that appears in the chat screen there’s no need to find the player. You simply right click the name in the chat window, and report. This would include: Guild, Say, Map, Party, Squad, Team, and Whisper.

For emotes, you would need to submit a ticket, but the team is prepared to review those concerns if you provide the following:

  • Date
  • Time and time zone
  • Name of character (or your own character’s name, so they can pull chat around you)
  • Description of your concern

That list too me longer to write than it would take you to report, so it’s really not a hard thing to do, and we’d really like to address issues of emote abuse, to keep the game pleasant for everyone.

Thanks.

EG — Yes, many kinds of logs are retained, but there is a third-party billing vendor in the middle of the purchase cycle and I don’t know how it would be possible to address this except to contact Customer Support. Extended Off-Season and Other Updates

in PvP

Previous

Gaile Gray

ArenaNet Communications Manager

A message from the PvP Team:

Hi all,

Now that Season 4 has come to an end, we wanted to take a brief moment to update you on a few items.

First, we wanted to let you know that the off-season between Seasons 4 and 5 will be longer than previous seasons. We’re working on some significant changes to the league system and we decided that we’d rather wait until the league changes are ready to ship before starting the next season of PvP. We haven’t completed our internal “is it ready to ship?” checklist, so we can’t dive into the specific changes or give the start date for Season 5, but you can read-up on what we’re hoping to address in this post. We’ll be giving you a full run-down of the changes prior to release.

Second, in the next few weeks we’ll be running a poll that asks if you’d like to see PvP Leagues switch to a solo/duo queue only system, rather than allowing rosters of any size (1 through 5 players). This is potentially a very big change for PvP, so we wanted to get it on your radar ahead of time so you can ruminate, discuss it together now, and then share your opinion on the poll when it is available.

Third, many of you have asked and we wanted to confirm: the next balance update will ship this month.

Fourth, AcademyGaming will be hosting the return of Tournament of Legends in early November. More information will be released on this soon, but the short of it is that anyone can sign up (first come, first served) and earn rewards such as legendary weapons, precursors, and legendary crafting mats. We wanted to let you know ahead of time so you can start creating your teams and such.

Finally, anyone who hit Legendary in Season 4 is still owed the “Indomitable Legend” title. We’ll be distributing this title via in-game mail once we have a compiled a full list of those who earned it. There’s no action needed on your part other than keeping an eye on your in-game mailbox. We’ll post on the forums once we’ve sent the titles out.

Thanks!

I want to thank again Dash for leading this fantastic project.

More importantly, and as a few said before, we need to counter the perception that editing the wiki is difficult. You should not be afraid to contribute, the same way that you should be ashamed that you do not all the things involved in the wiki or be afraid that someone would react to your edits. The wiki truly is a collaborative website where everyone has its say and role. Some editors take care of removing typos and correcting English, some focus on the formatting, others go deeper into the code. And the bulk of the editors simply add information, and then other editors adapt, format and sometimes correct it. You also don’t need to spend a lot of time (although the wiki community would love to have you ), for example we’ve introduced a new “Leave Article Feedback” tab where you can just leave the information as is, so that other editors can use it!

Guess the offer is only for the english wiki?!

Can I ask what language wiki you’re from, if you don’t mind?

Much too complex.

I was under the impression the ‘Leave Feedback’ tab was introduced to make it easier for those unschooled in the more complex aspects of Wiki editing. Hopefully, we won’t be discouraged from using it.

Absolutely not, you should continue to use the Leave Feedback feature if you’re already using it. I’ve heard that it brings a good amount of information to the English wiki and it’s valuable. That being said, Dash’s project is his own and manages it as he sees fit.

What he said, oh so much better than I.

I’ve contributed to the wiki(s) and I find the community to be super helpful. Goodness knows I flub things from time to time, particularly since the editing system on wiki is different from, say, the forums or normal documents. However, even when I misplace a quote or insert an wildly-rampant bullet point, another wiki contributor has quietly corrected what I flubbed and it’s all good.

I think this is a sweet initiative, Dash, and thanks for organizing it!

Something MUST be done about the RP in DR

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I was never bothered by the content, just that I couldn’t read any /guild or /map chat due to the volumes of text spewing from a small fraction of the RPers.

This is the issue for me over what I see being said. I appreciate Penelope clarifying that not all RPers are inappropriate with what they say but boy, on NA we have some doozies who are; including some who don’t actually become explicit, but are… discomforting without being graphic. On my years on the internet, I have come across people who are serious about some incredibly explicit/inappropriate roleplaying and some who will do it in public, not just to troll. Whether the people I’ve seen doing it in NA DR are trolling or not is not for me to judge and the only people who will truly know are those people. Such is the nature of RPing, as I’m sure a lot of people are aware.

I’ve played my fair share of D&D over the years so honestly, I have no issue with roleplaying. Just having to change my chat options (which due to personal health reasons I can’t always remember to change back immediately) because of walls of text that are currently not supported properly by the game which interfere with what I and others are doing. The walls of text are where I think the ‘spam’ definition has some weight.

No one’s honestly saying RPers should gtho of DR (well, some people might really feel that way), just that we’d like ANet to give RPers proper integration into the game so they’re not so heavily ostracised or seen as a nuisance. The RP section being added to LFG was a great start but I think everyone can agree that there’s more that could and should be done for everyone to co-exist more harmoniously.

As for RP chat range, maybe that could be the same radius as Say chat? Also if people trolled RP chat, it’d be easier for GMs to understand the context of a report as it would be clear it was targeted harassment towards a group of players as they’d have to be typing in RP chat to do so, instead of trying to claim that they’re responding to someone else in the channels we have now. I don’t know, I don’t get why a channel dedicated to RP would be a bad thing as in my eyes it would actually give RPing more legitimacy than the current form of co-opting emotes with large walls of text, and could by extension clear up a lot of issues that people have with RPers.

Very helpful, and thank you so much for helping with these useful suggestions. I have my chat windows separated differently, but I think you setup is great, too!

The thing I want to emphasize is that rather than ostracizing someone or a group of players, why not look for a means to allow everyone to participate in our game on a level playing field? Rather than limiting, refine! Organize your UI and I believe you will see improvements in your experience on several levels.

On the other hand, if what some of the comments referenced above is happening in All Chat or in the wide range of emotes, then it should be reported, if only for a reality check by an impartial agent.

ERP can be reported. If it’s especially… graphic, then create a support ticket and include screenshots of the dialogue.

Yes, this is true. If you find the content offensive, not because you don’t like any roleplaying, but because a certain segment of roleplaying is crossing the line into sexually-related content, abusive chat, truly “offensive” content in the standard definition of the word, then use the in-game report system, please, and the team will review.

Hey there,

The name is blocked for a security reason having to do with the prevention of someone designating themselves as a “GM.” (Separate “G” and separate “M” posed impersonation and abuse problems in the past, so we simply disallowed those two letters when used independently, and of course “GM” as well.) I believe there would be no objection to Hughg or another use that did not involve a self-standing letter “G.” Other forum members have made some viable suggestions for you, as well.

What the agent responding to your ticket intended for you to do — and I admit the response was not clearly written — was to suggest that if you felt the name filter had an issue you could give your feedback on that.

The forums are not intended as a place to protest, debate, or appeal CS decisions. The CS team is not the place to go to request renaming, as you did.

Now that you better understand the situation, I’ll close this thread.

As has been mentioned several times in the past, the way this thread works best and most fairly is:

  • Make you requests reasonable
  • Update your post when you receive a requested item or items; You can update for each component if you asked for more than one to keep things current
  • Do not make duplicate requests. That is, request one item, and only one item. Do not make a new thread asking for something else. Do not edit your post to change to a new request.

Guys, let’s keep discussion to a minimum, to allow a quick review of the current offerings, ok?

Yes, we stickied this. Yes, it’s intended to help those who are not able to see the in-game store. It’s all good.

Daily Heart of Maguuma Forager bugged

Yes, it is bugged, and we’re very sorry. I have verified that you can complete your dailies by doing the other three components (for instance, doing the jumping puzzle instead or foragaging), or doing elements in WvW or PvP. So there are options for a work-around for this issue, for those of us who do Dailies, daily. However, we’re sorry for any inconvenience this bug causes and reports have been submitted so that we can investigate and avoid a repeat in the future.

Thanks for your understanding.
