Please continue to add Quality of Life change suggestions to this thread.
Thanks!
I positively LOVE our wikis! There isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not on the GW2 Wiki, and I find myself continuing to use the GW Wiki a lot, too. I used the GW2 wiki last night to help me get one of my missing Mastery Points.
We are lucky to have such dedicated wiki editors, and everyone at ArenaNet holds them in very high regard.
I hope even more players will get involved in the wiki in the future, with articles, explanations, research, guides, and more. If there isn’t a page, consider starting one. If there is a page and you can add to it, go ahead and add some content or, if you’d rather, post on the discussion page for that article and make a suggestion that the additional info be added to the main article. (I did the latter myself until I got up the courage to edit an article. )
Major kudos, high fives, and deep gratitude to all our wiki editors!
Edited title to remove name of spamming RMT company.
Please click on the spammer’s name in chat, right click, choose “Report” and then cite them for gold selling. It can be done in about 5 seconds, and the team is usually very quick to handle these.
Thank you.
Bug Fixes
As many have stated, the addition of new ways to get Mastery Points is a good thing! It’s sort of like adding new dishes to a buffet: you can make a choice from an expending menu of options.
I am not maxed on MPs for either HoT or CT. Hey, I’ve been busy! As a daily player, I warmly welcome more ways for me to get those points.
I have rarely felt as good about work I’ve contributed to as I feel right now. Thank you for the positive feedback. <3
I actually went hunting for you earlier this week, to thank you personally for this lovely addition to the game.
In all the years I’ve been at ArenaNet (16 in November!) this is one of my favorite new features. It’s small, and yet it touches the heart of so many. As you can imagine in a community the size of ours, and when you consider both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, over the years we have received many touching letters about the passing of one of our players. I have long hoped — actually, have hoped since we first launched Guild Wars — for a way for players to memorialize their departed and beloved friends, family members, and guild members.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart for this feature, and thanks, also, to Kevin for programming it! I am very proud of this new game element.
With the many lovely Quality of Life changes in the most recent update, players are coming up with a lot of good ideas for potential changes in the future. To keep things more organized, and to give the developers a means of reviewing the ideas in an efficient manner, I’m combining 14 threads into a single QoL Suggestion thread, which is right here!
Please add your suggestions, but keep in mind:
Thanks for all the ideas that have come in so far, and for understanding and joining this single thread. Doing so really will help the various teams who might tackle QoL changes review your ideas.
P.S. There is some unavoidable mixing of messages whenever we merge. If your post seems disconnected from your intentions, feel free to edit to add a line at the top of your post such as a subject or a comment, such as “This idea was related to [QoL suggestion]” or “My response was in support of the [QoL suggestion] made above.”

Hey guys,
It occurs to me that the merchandise survey closed, but we easily could leave this thread active to gather more cool ideas for merch.
By the way, the results of the survey were relayed to our manufacturing/merchandise partners, and I believe you’ll be seeing some cool stuff coming down the pike in the future!
For me:
Race/Profession: I play human ranger. Almost exclusively and quite a lot. (Like nights, weekend, holidays…) I started with a ranger/monk in Guild Wars — although I had one of each profession — and I continued with ranger in GW2 in part because, in an RP way, my girl today is the descendant of my girl in GW. (Although in GW, I left my main at Level 7 for reasons too convoluted to explain, where in GW2 I’m a proud 80 working on getting more masteries.)
Build: What’s that? Ok, ok, I joke… but just a little. I play dual-bow pet wrangler, which I confess isn’t the best… stop laughing!
NPC: I fall hopelessly in love with asura NPCs. Started with Vekk and I may or may not have cried when Snaff was slain. And you have to have a stone heart to not adore Zojja or adorable Taimi.
Favorite maps: I don’t even know where to begin, I love so many of them. Sometimes it’s the map. Sometimes it’s the music or sounds in the map. Sometimes it’s the lighting. Sometimes it’s the loot on the map with the good music, sounds, and lighting. I like the lush green maps best for just being there. My favorite place of all is Lion’s Arch, and that is best at Halloween.
Edit: Bloodtide Coast is a definite fave, and the loading screen is my favorite of all.

Thanks Gaile. She made a “tree lady” she called her, a sylvari, the only thing she did with her at the time was dance her around the fountain in Lion’s Arch and tried to do the same in the apt…it was so much fun she said, I said "its not all about dancing Mom…she said “oh yes it is”. I should have kept the character but I wasn’t able to do it, she named it after herself. I’ll dance my sylvari around the fountain sometimes even though its now a different city, imagining those times and yes its all about dancing.
This post made me smile. I’ll be sure to make my Sylvari dance near the LA fountains, in memory of your mom.
And, there may be a human ranger joining in. I think Laurie’s mother was very wise: Sometimes it is all about dancing.
Dear Laurie,
I am so sorry for your loss, and am very happy that our game gave you respite during a difficult time. Your mother sounds as if she was a lovely person, and I am grateful she brought you into our world.
We’ve merged several threads about this issue into this one thread. Please be aware that the conversation may appear somewhat disjointed because of the merge, but, as Ester and Dara have pointed out, the team is actively investigating this issue.
Statistically over 30000 people who played GW2 at one point have died already, so this is cool to have
Oh dear heavens, Mal — that’s just a sad thought! I’m going to go with a positive thought and believe in my heart we’ve “under-achieved” on that statistic many times over.
Really sweet article over on MassivelyOP about this. Thanks, Bree!
Just a personal note from me.
While grounded in something sad — the loss of a guild member — there still is much to be happy about in this change, which came out in the Summer/Out of the Shadows update:
Monuments
A new guild upgrade is being introduced called Guild Hall Monument Decorations that will be available from the Guild Market once your guild has obtained the Guild Hall Decorations Merchant 2 upgrade. Upon purchase, Douglas Bird (our resident basic-decorations vendor) and Cullen (our master scribe) will have three new decorations unlock.
These three new decorations are monuments—decorations that have a custom player inscription. When placing a monument, you’ll be prompted to enter the inscription, which can be up to 140 characters in length. Once placed, the inscription can be read by interacting with the monument. To change an inscription, the monument must be removed and replaced.
Guilds can only have a total of 50 monuments placed in their guild hall at one time.
Placing and removing monuments requires a new permission: Monument Decorator. Note that the Clear Decorations button, enabled by the Remove All Decorations permission, will also remove monuments.
~~~
Over the years, we have received many notes and letters about fallen guild members, and they have touched us deeply. I think it is so wonderful that guilds now have a chance to remember their fallen, and to do so in such a meaningful way.
Hey guys,
I’ve had a couple of people suggesting that we merge these comments into the official feedback thread, but I really hesitate to do that because you may already have posted your brief comments in that thread, and merging could a bit of a mess of that conversation. Would you mind sharing your thoughts in that thread, so I can be sure to include them in my report? (The report will include other comments from other threads, but it’s great to have that link to which I can point, as well.)
’
Thanks a lot!
Bug Fixes
I don’t think this is a bug, but rather that it’s feedback on a system. As such, I am going to move it to the Living World forum.
Thanks for understanding.
Does that include the Notes from Rata Sum and the vids? Taimi has a big mouth..
We tend to cut Taimi a little slack. But seriously, Taimi’s journal was written to prevent actual spoilers, as distinguished from hints, suggestions, or leading comments. Saying “Something’s happening” and “This thing happened” are worlds apart, eh?
While there are and will be many threads about the new update, with Living World Season 3 kicking off, a new fractal, significant QoL changes, and much more, we’d like to use this thread to get one post from anyone who would like to contribute giving us a brief overview of your reaction to the build.
Please share a few thoughts, and of course feel free to join in or generate a different thread if you’d like to cover a topic in depth. It would be most helpful if you would provide the comment(s) after you have had an opportunity to play the content, because a reading of the build notes isn’t as valuable as your actual player experience.
For your assistance in creating other threads:
Thanks very much!
Yes, we’re so sorry! The team is working on a quick fix and we’ll get that addressed ASAP!
You guys better not read your mail for a few weeks, too. The last time someone tried to spoil me, they just mailed all the info to my mailbox.
~sigh~ And I hope you blocked them and their little dog, too!
Bug Fix
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Hey all,
Lauren is correct, the mail is just a little glitch. A bit more detail: If you own Heart of Thorns, you have access to the Out of the Shadows content without doing a single thing (including accepting that empty mail ).
Thanks for the positive comments, Slambunction and Electro! Glad you’re happy with the update.
I believe our community is made up, in large proportion, of considerate people. This friendly reminder may help and certainly cannot hurt the process of allowing people to participate in the forum, if they care to do so.
You may choose your method, but others will not make that same choice. Hence, my suggestion.
I’ll be turning off map chat in-game for a few days too.
That could be a very wise measure.
Oops :o I already made people mad on al borders here on fsp, sorryyyy
Hey could you please just edit your title?
As we get ready for the Out of the Shadows update, I’d like to ask everyone to please (please, please, please, and please) use care in posting comments or insights that may spoil the new content for those who have not had a chance to play it yet.
Just flag a discussion with [SPOILER] in the title and players will be able to avoid knowing more than should be known.
Thanks very much for your courtesy and consideration for all players.
Soon(tm).
Can’t wait for you guys to get a chance to dig into this cool new content!
Our official stance is that we want our team members to play the game, including the elements involved in WvW. There is no conflict of interest, favoritism, or any related negatives here. And you should be aware that the WvW Team moves servers for every playtest, to get a wider view of things.
I’m sure we all would agree that the game—and the community—benefit greatly from ArenaNet team members being actively involved with Guild Wars 2.
Same reason why the search function doesn’t work I assume – ArenaNet hired a third party to cover the creation of the forums and I think that company is no longer around.
Correct. This plays a factor in several issues, and we apologize for the inconvenience!
I’m sorry that happened to you, but it really is quite unlikely that in three years, you’ve experienced the one and only repeat of a fixed bug. More likely something else caused the issue you experienced. I hope that this doesn’t happen again for you or anyone, but in case it does, we ask that you please report in the game so the devs get the information that the system sends for in-game reports.
Thanks.
It seems this thread—a repeat of others in the past—is still rambling on.
At this point, the question having been answered by many dozens of people (and nearly all saying the game is going fine) we’ll close the thread to focus on more productive discussions.
A message from the Guilds Team:
We are happy to announce that we have made a number of performance improvements to the guild decoration system and will be raising the decoration cap in the guild hall from 1000 decorations to 2000 decorations in the July 26 release! As you may know, this has been a long-standing goal, and we’re delighted to be able to make the increase at this time.
While a majority of players will enjoy the higher cap with no issue, there will be some impact on those who play on computers at the minimum specifications for Guild Wars 2. To avoid issues, we will continue to limit the number of decorations that may be placed close to one another in a specific allotment of space to 20 decorations within a radius of 500. To give that an in-game point of reference, the effect radius of a warrior shout is 600, so a guild could place 20 decorations in a space slightly smaller than the area of that skill effect. But even with that protection in place, some players could experience performance issues. Thus we wanted to offer a couple suggestions for guilds that may have members who play on min-spec machines but who wish to place an increased number of decorations in their guild hall.
Happy decorating!
This conversation has gone ’round and ’round, and the answer that was sought was given some while ago. Everything since it argues for or against a system that was, quite honestly, less than optimal — provably less than optimal.
Idealistic requests are fine and well, but I saw the tickets and I felt the pain of those who were victims, sometimes victimized by players whom they felt they knew quite well. I also experienced the unpleasantness of spam through all chat systems, to the point where one of our beloved capital cities was renamed as Spamadam. Thinking that people will restrict themselves to a single channel is looking at history with rose-colored glasses.
Question asked and answered. A few experienced-based personal suggestions given as well. Valuable insights from experienced players offered. Let’s move on.
Please note that a refund requires that you made your initial purchase from us, and that it took place within the last 30 days.
Thanks.
At the current time, the Forum Specialist Program is on hiatus. We want to express sincere thanks to our first round of specialists, who provided us with great feedback from the community. We all — players and developers alike — benefited from the feedback that FSP members routed to us, and we’re grateful for their participation in the program.
We will be assessing the timing of the next round of FSP members, and will be sure to post in the forums when we are ready to accept applications.
Thanks to everyone involved!
Can’t undo question thing for some reason..
I took care of that for you.
For instance I have a sorta friend who has Spark that I’m wanting to buy from him but since I’ve played Eve Online I’ve grown to trust absolutely no one in any online game when it comes to anything currency related.
I know scamming is a reportable offense but I want to know if Anet would rectify the situation if things didn’t go according to plan.
I know of the gold limitation when you mail gold.
What’s our stance? No. Just no. Sure it’s possible. Sure, sometimes it works. But sometimes (often enough to be a highlighted concern) it does not. Which is precisely why the developers created the Trading Post. Safe, secure, and no one gets ripped off. (Ok, guys, no rude comments about the handling fee. I’m talking the straight up transaction here, and it is exactly that: straight up.)
With the advent of the TP, and with all the security that it gives, are you willing to risk a P2P trade? If you are, I sincerely hope that all goes well for you, that you get the item you paid for, and everyone is happy. If it does not, we will not and actually cannot get involved, for a variety of reasons that involve not indicting innocent players who may get caught, tangentially, in P2P trading. (If I have to go into details, I will, but I imagine someone else already has and in my haste to offer advice, I didn’t see it yet. )
So, for trading, I offer my oft-given advice: Choose wisely.
Please submit a ticket so that Customer Support can assist you. They do their best to help out in such cases, and I feel sure you’ll have a happy resolution to this one.
This conversation has veered quite a bit off course. The sales period is as outlined: July 20 – 27. If you’re unable to purchase in that period, we’re sorry to hear it. But angry posts aren’t appropriate on this forum, and demands for a price schedule to fit one’s personal paycheck are not reasonable or feasible.
Pay the price and buy them.
If you are offering less than the asking price,you should be patient.
Given how low the supply is on those,I don’t see why anyone would fulfil any order, ever.I am the top buy order. Its just that people list them in 1s and 2s, and I need MANY, so I want to get the word out.
That’s great and all, but should the general discussion forum be used as a personal trade spam platform?
No.
Positively not. This is a Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum, not a platform for personal trade requests. As others have suggested, for highly-sought-after items, you may need to accept in dribs and drabs, and be willing to pay more than your initial offer. But in any case, please know that this isn’t an appropriate topic for the forums. Thanks for understanding.
Guys,
Please don’t post with meaningless titles. It adds no value to the forums.
Please don’t post satire or irony. Neither translates well in text.
Thanks.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Just a reminder: Please never post your e-mail address on the forums. This is exposing personal information that you want you to keep private, especially if that address is one you used to log in to the game.
If you are not able to PM Ester, please submit a ticket, or PM me and I will relay it to her.
Thanks for understanding.
We sometimes get questions, here or through other media, about what it takes to get a piece of fan fiction published on the Guild Wars 2 Tumblr page. I asked Anatoli Ingram, who reviews most of our fiction in advance of publication, and he kindly provided some details and tips on the process:
Not getting published doesn’t mean your work is bad—it just may not be right for our Tumblr format. If you don’t feel like these guidelines fit what you want to do with your fic, you can always publish it on your own Tumblr blog or an outside fanfic archive. There’s a huge fandom on Tumblr, and you might find a great audience and visibility for your work there!
