Back in my day, you had to farm for 75 ectos and be rank 5 Deldrimor to be able to afford those.

I don’t know, these kids have it easy

Yeah, yeah, Randulf, and don’t forget “farm in the snow, uphill, without a weapon, and no armor, and… !

Happy you guys are happy about this. I loved my CGs in GW and love this chance to sport them in GW2!

Except the same issue I have is still happening. I speak to her, and it removes my story, but upon mapping to a new zone it still shows that I am continuing my story. I don’t want to finish it but I’m tired of it being on my screen. I thought speaking to her would fix that issue.

The issue that was addressed through today’s bug fix was the one related to getting a mail every time you enter Lion’s Arch. I can see your situation is different. It may be advisable to contact Customer Support to have them look into this for you.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that caused Assassin’s Annihilation to deal too much damage when striking with missiles.
  • Soothsayer Jacinda ran out of stationery and will no longer send mail to players entering Lion’s Arch.
  • Temporarily disabled the ability to open Maguuma daily-achievement reward chests in PvP, the PvP lobby, or WvW matches, as they were not properly awarding mastery experience. These can still be opened inside PvE maps.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Chuka and Champawat from appearing properly during the Chuka and Champawat I: Hunter’s Journal events.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Champion Jungle Skelk Lurker in Mount Maelstrom from dropping Superior Skelk Livers after one of the Chuka and Champawat IV: Baby Book items was collected.
  • Captain Carbins in Fields of Ruin will now talk to the player about Hunter’s Journal: Entry 17 in the Chuka and Champawat I: Hunter’s Journal subcollection while the “Rescue the villagers and defeat harpy kidnappers” event is active.
  • Bleepdoop will no longer get stuck within terrain during the “Escort the quaggan emissary to the kodan camp” event in Snowden Drifts.

Hey all,

I noticed a thread about a thread, and yes, I merged them. Seems reasonable, as soon we could have threads about threads about threads… until the cows come home. (Sorry, Josa, but it really makes sense to have all the comments here.)

But.. on the topic at hand: I noticed the addition of the toggle, too, and I recall the comments that Colin made a couple of months ago. I’m actively trying to identify who can answer a question or two about visual effects. I hope to be able to get you some info soon.

Thanks for the references, Cindas — very helpful.

Crapgame — don’t forget “long walks on the beach” in that profile, hmmm?

I did a check on tracked changes/edits for the wiki and it appears that it’s been in there since the original post. Therefore, while I hear “You’ll be feeling that one for days!” and “Hurts, doesn’kitten” allllll the time, I apparently was just missing hearing the “BAM!” until recently. I recently make tweaks to my volume and my settings — quite honestly, trying to turn down the whiney of The Dreamer — so maybe that’s why the “BAM!” just started being audible to me recently.

Thanks for the info, guys!

I could pad down the hallway and ask someone if we made a tiny change to the ranger. But I’d be embarrassed if a dev looked at my funny, or told me “You’re nuts”… although that may or may not have happened a few times in the past.

So I’m asking my fellow rangers: Did a new bit of combat chatter recently get added? I’m hearing my character (female ranger) say “BAM!” every now and then when she fires her bow, and I honestly don’t remember her saying that in the past.

Maybe I just missed it in the flurry of combat. Or… is it new?

Thanks for the positive words. And thanks, too, for the ideas about areas in which we can make future improvements. Nothing is 100% perfect, for everyone, all the time. But we’re working on it, and feedback in this forum plays a significant role in the direction we take.

So thanks to all of you, and keep the ideas coming in this and the other threads in this sub-forum. While we don’t post here often, you can be sure the feedback you share is noted!

What? You have purple. That’s all you need!

Ok, I really don’t know if there’s an option to add colors or a plan to do so. But just in case, what would be on the wish list? Keep in mind the tag should be visible on the mini and world/overhead map, so it might be best to suggest bold, non-metallic, non-transparent-ish colors.

How about telling us what is available?

Edit: I mean is the entire color spectrum available or is there limitations?

Hey Loosmaster — I don’t know what would be available, but I’d suggest that ideas might best stay within the normal color ranges, even the standard 9 (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, brown, white).

In truth, I just had my curiosity piqued by the concept and wondered (1) if more colors were truly desired/desirable and (2) what colors you guys had in mind.

A message from the World vs. World Team:

Hello Everyone!

The WvW World Linking Beta will be starting today at 11 AM PDT Friday (18:00 UTC Friday) for EU and 7 PM PDT Friday (2:00 UTC Saturday) for NA. When it begins several worlds will be linked to help even out WvW populations. We used factors like the world’s current rank and population numbers to define pairings. For NA we will be able to divide the total number of worlds in half, and give every world a partner. However, pairings for EU are a lot trickier, both because there is an odd number of total worlds, and because there is an odd number of specific language worlds. EU also has a greater number of well populated worlds, so it makes sense to link fewer worlds. The result is that a number of worlds in EU will not be linked.

We will be resetting glicko volatility and deviation for all worlds to the same value, but leaving their rating unchanged. What this means is:

  • The first matchup will use current placements (T1 worlds vs T1 worlds, T2 worlds vs T2 worlds, etc.)
  • The reset volatility and deviation values will come into effect at the end of that match.
  • Worlds that win, especially by a large margin, will have their rating increased by a larger amount than normal.
  • Likewise, worlds that lose, especially by a large margin, will have their rating decreased by a larger amount than normal.
  • The result is that when a world no longer is meant to be in a specific tier, they’ll move out of it more quickly.

Resetting glicko volatility and deviation also has the advantages of requiring no downtime! We considered resetting rating, but decided not to for this first beta of World Linking. For T1 worlds the rating itself will still be fairly accurate for the majority of players in those worlds. For new lowest tier, previously middle tier worlds, keeping their lower rating will still help prevent them from getting wiped by the T1 worlds. Keep in mind this is a beta, and in the future we may reconsider other options like a clean wipe or a weighted average, but for now we encourage you go check out World Linking!

As for the future, we may redistribute worlds as populations drift over time and because the system is flexible, we can potentially link 3 or more smaller worlds as appropriate.

Official Feedback Thread: WvW Reward Tracks

A Message from the WvW Team

Hello Everyone!

We are starting to see a lot of feedback threads pop-up and the WvW team appreciates everyone who has taken the time to write up feedback and create threads. To help organize ideas into one place (this helps devs a lot) we are going to start creating threads on specific topics. Feel free to create your own threads as well, but if you have feedback on a specific topic for which we have created an official thread—like this one—I encourage you to post in that thread.

The cadence and topics for these threads will vary depending on a particular release date. For example we will be posting a Desert Borderlands map feedback thread, but we want to give everyone a little more time to play before creating that thread. There also will be threads coming that will allow the community to make suggestions on what they want the team to be working on going forward.

The first topic, as you probably guessed from the title, is WvW Reward Tracks! Here are a few questions:

  1. How do you feel overall about reward tracks?
  2. What are your thoughts on the rate at which you gain participation?
  3. How do you feel about the rate you earn reward track points?
  4. Overall, what are your impressions about the types of reward tracks we have?
  5. Are there any other reward tracks you would really like to see?

Feel free to post anything reward-track related in this thread!

Official Map Changes Feedback Thread (Spring Quarterly Update)

in PvP

Posted by: Gaile Gray

Previous

Gaile Gray

ArenaNet Communications Manager

Next

A Message from the PvP Team:

Hi there, everyone!

Spring is here and with it comes new changes to several of our PvP maps. With Season 2 coming to a close and the new Off-Season beginning, we’ve decided to release some much needed updates to our current map roster. Most notably, you may have caught some significant changes to both Skyhammer and Spirit Watch, the results of which have altered their overall gameplay pretty drastically. As such, we’ve actually placed “beta” tags on both of these maps for the time being because we’d like the community to play a role in evaluating the changes that we’ve made before we decide whether to keep any these updates moving forward. In addition, we want to get your input on whether either of these maps is now ready to be introduced into the Ranked queue at the start of the next League Season.

So here’s what we’d like to do: We’ve created this thread to try and consolidate all of your feedback with regard to PvP map changes in a single location. That way we can get a discussion going, read all your thoughts, and also reply with some of our own in one spot. So, take a look at the notes for all of the PvP map changes here, then queue up for some Unranked Arena and play through the updates yourself. Once you’ve done that, if you have any thoughts on any of the maps that we’ve updated—especially Skyhammer and Spirit Watch—then just pop back in here and let us know.

Again, to reiterate:

  • These changes to Skyhammer and Spirit Watch are not necessarily permanent, but whether we decide to keep them or revert them is dependent on your feedback.
  • If the community feels that these two maps are now competitively viable enough to include in the Ranked map rotation, then we may consider doing exactly that for the start of Season 3. But again, this decision would ultimately be dependent on your feedback, so let us know if you think they’re ready.
  • We’d love to hear your thoughts on the changes that we’ve made to the other maps as well to get an idea of what’s working and what isn’t.
  • As always, we welcome any and all feedback you can offer, but just remember to try and keep this particular thread on the topic of maps.

Thanks for your time and feedback in advance and we’ll see you in the game!

xrayane — We’ll be entering Season 3 of Living World, and Living World definitely will have new content. It’s my belief that most players were not expecting new content in this update, but were looking for exactly what was provided: substantive changes to the game that make it more fun, responsive reaction to player input, and that sort of thing. (I don’t presume to speak for players and their expectations, but that’s my observation, if that makes sense. )

I think you hit it exactly: with all the changes, just about every area/mode of the game sees improvement, and that’s a really positive thing.

Jhoul — Thanks for making that exception. Believe me, we do care. It’s not what drives us, you’re right, but it’s what keeps the lights on, and that’s important. (And thanks for the kind words.)

By putting it on Reddit:
1)They allow people to post who have been banned from posting on official forums (there are many)
2) can reach players who don’t currently have GW2 and reply
3) independent moderation (no ANET dictatorship in some people’s eyes – not mine !)
4) allows f2p players to also take part in the discussion and reply
5) ANET uses reddit as the GW2 unofficial forums -
Devs seem to have a more relaxed policy what they can say on Reddit vs official forums (which requires pre approvals etc).

…. Reasons

Only one problem here …… the dev’s do NOT require preapproval for posting here. The only thing they are not allowed to post are things that are covered under an non disclosure thing about stuff that’s being worked on before it’s ready.

That is correct. Thank you for that clarification.

We don’t muzzle or censor our employees. We don’t pre-approve their posts. We have a policy of showing you what we’re doing in the here and now rather than taking about what we’re doing in the future. Tomorrow, you’ll have a look at the latest developments in several areas of the game. We’ll read your feedback, and that will play a major role in where we head with several initiatives. (See Mike O’Brien’s posts for more info.)

Gaile. I honestly adore you. I do. Ever since getting to “know” you from GW1 days and events. This is why I say this with the utmost sincerity: please stop putting a target on your back for Anet. Let those making these decisions catch more of the heat. They lean on you because they know we genuinely like you.

Pookie — seriously, I’m not doing that. I guess I could have let the blog post go unremarked, not post at all on the forums to point to the reddit event. But that seems like it would be making it EXclusive, and I’d think we all want it to be INclusive, right?

If I say I’m looking forward to the update, literally no one is paying me to say that. (Yes, I get paid, but I mean no one came in here and said “Go post like you like this thing we’re doing” or, Dwayna forbid, “Go hype the build.”) Instead, I’ve been reading the update notes and seeing changes that I like, as a player, and that’s what prompted me to say something. So thank you for your thoughtfulness (and the kind words — that’s very nice!) but I’m not playing sacrificial lamb or shill here — I’m just expressing what I think, personally. And with any opinion, the usual “your mileage may vary” applies.

Excellent, I really appreciate it when you guys make yourselves available for these. Good luck with the update!

I’m personally really looking forward to it, as a ArenaNet team member and as a daily player. Can’t wait to see what you guys think!

Are you ever going to do something on this forum? I am getting frustrated with the amount of devs that keep posting on Reddit and topics here get ignored.

While I also would like to see more dev activity on the forums, Reddit makes for a much, much more readable format for a Q&A than these forums. It’s easier to do Q&As there, in general.

Yes, this.

She’s explained this before ….. reddit just makes it easier for chatting than here.

And this.

It’s not a matter of preferring reddit, it is — as I mentioned previously — simply the case that reddit formatting makes what is essentially a chat session work better there.

The official forums are still where we post our major forum-announced comments, such as Mike O’Brien’s comments about Upcoming Changes in the Spring Update and his update on that subject, not to mention the thread about Legendary Weapons in which he was active many times, and a WvW Priorities thread as well. As you can see just from citing one person’s posts, this forum is important to us, and we continue to be active on a daily basis.

As mentioned in today’s blog post about tomorrow’s quarterly update, Mike O’Brien and members of the development team will be having a chat on reddit starting at 2:00 PM. We’ll see you there!

This is not the place to discuss issues related to account action on the part of Customer Support. You must submit a ticket to allow agents to review your situation. If you feel that the answer you receive from CS is inaccurate, simply reply to that e-mail and ask for an additional review.

A forum back-and-forth about a specific account issue related to a suspension or warning for in-game behavior is counter-productive and irrelevant to the forum community. It also is expressly against the forum rules.

Closing this post. Please discuss directly with CS.

Wait a minute! We have a noble tradition of showing all quaggan love all the time and you come on here and share this… ok… this hilarious image.

If you used the tag, you’re in good shape. No need to use the form — tagging is perfect.

Thanks for posting — we’ll look forward to seeing more in the future, if you care to share!

Hey, is there a video of the event up anywhere?

I haven’t see one yet, but knowing Eexa… maybe we can look forward to that in the future? I know I practically haunt the forums and Tumblr, waiting for a new story about my favorite asura.
