Love it!
Just a note to set a date for Wednesday, July 20, at Noon Pacific time. We’ll be featuring more awesome Guild Wars 2 fan art, and we hope to have you join the show!
Dear heavenly Dwayna. You started playing and I started crying. I love that piece so much, and what you did with it is magical. Thank you so much for creating it, and sharing it! <3
Bug Fixes
Salvation Pass has been cleared for incoming traffic (that is, the previous crash issue has been resolved). Slothasar and Inquisitor Matthias await you!
Jumping in here for a second to clarify things with you guys. At the time Gaile replied to you she had the most up to date information from the raid team. After reading through the thread more and discussing it as a team, it’s very clear that McLeod is considered to be an entry level boss by the community.
We’re going to fix the mastery unlock issue in an upcoming patch, as well as add the unlock to the Bandit Trio encounter. We apologize for any confusion that occurred, especially to Gaile to sending her the incorrect information!
That’s great news, Crystal! I think bunches of players will be really happy about this, and who doesn’t thrilled by a new mastery!
Now if I can only get me wee green gadget by slaying that kittenkittenkitten Demolisher!
I meant that it called him a powerful member of the White Mantel and not a boss. That’s all. No biggie, just an observation.
But news flash! I said I’d ask the team about that, and we are continuing to discuss this situation. So hold tight — there may be more information coming up.
Due to a crash issue related to the Salvation Pass raids map, we are going to temporarily disable the map while we work on a hotfix. Players heading to Salvation Pass will be redirected to Lion’s Arch until we can address the situation. This issue is considered a priority and we’ll have the fix out just as soon as possible.
Really disappointed by Anet’s stance on this. They really are out to take all the fun out of this game.
The game is designed a certain way. Someone did not acquire the mastery because they did not complete the tasks required to do so. Whatever “disappointment” you feel, it seems unwarranted to me.
Hey, I’m in Silverwastes all the times, trying to get the Demolisher kill. I’m “disappointed” that he hasn’t shown up for me yet, of course. But I’m not about to say I’m “disappointed in the company or the devs” for making him challenging and hard to find. That’s the nature of the beast — literally! -- and I respect that.
The nature of this raid is that you must kill Xera or Keep Construct to achieve a mastery. They are the raid bosses, not the sideline enemies that you fight before facing them. In fact, I just looked up McLeod, and found his wiki listing (community written) to be accurate and informative in this regard.
I will take feedback on the wording to the team. Thanks to those who made constructive suggestions.
So what is happening ? who tell the truth ?
The customer support representative said “as far as I am aware”. He or she was clearly wrong. Gaile is interfacing directly with the raid team, which customer support representatives don’t do, so take what Gaile says as fact. It’s working as intended.
Correct. McLeod is not a raid boss in the true definition of the word. Please see my post above for a more detailed example of what that means.
I got my information from the Raids Team. The CS Agent was mistaken, and I have let their team lead know of this error so that hopefully it does not happen again.
Note: This thread had a very uninformative title, so I changed it to be more topic-related.
Well, this explains why my friend didn’t get the mastery unlocked when I took him for a bandit trio.
I’m not against this, I never considered Mcloud or trio a true boss, but yes, it should be more clear they aren’t fully considered as raid bosses.
That’s an interesting point. Can you outline how that could be made clearer? I can pass along your suggestions, if you have ideas on what could be presented to dispel any misunderstanding.
Well at the event window on the top right of the screen you could have with the event title like “Siege the stronghold” an “Raid event: Siege the strongold” “Raid Boss Encounter: Vale guardian” . And in the mastery window “Complete a Raid Boss Encounter to unlock”
Interesting suggestions. I don’t know if they are feasible in an interface sense, but I know the team will take at look at this.
Hey there,
I wanted to give you some info from the team in relation to this situation: The Forsaken Thicket Mastery Track unlocks when a boss encounter has been completed. “Siege the Stronghold” is not considered a boss encounter, and thus will not unlock the Forsaken Thicket Mastery Track.
I hope that helps address your question about this particular mastery track and best of luck with Xera and Keep Construct!
i still haven’t received the response from my ticket #2260740 from GM Stinky Ghost on this issue. The GM asked me some specific questions and i answered. So ill wait.
i really believe this is wrong.
1- we defeated Mcleod the Silent
2- we all received a Legendary insight
3- we received the item that start and unlock the legendary armor collection.
4- we all saw that big Mcleod trophy in the middle of the fortress
5- In the Masteries panel its says that we need to enter Forsaken Thicket and kill a boss … we just did thatMcleod the Silent is a Boss and the mastery is still locked.
fix it.
I’m very sorry, but McLeod is not considered a boss by the standards of the raid. The raid bosses are Xera and Keep Construct.
It’s sort of like the Mordrem Extraction Devises that you use in Silverwastes. One part of the verbiage says to use it to salvage body parts from “a boss.” However, it’s clearer when the other wording points out “an underground boss.” At first I thought if I killed a Champion on the surface I would be able to make an extraction. But I hadn’t met the requirements and upon review I understood why I could not do so.
If you can suggest wording that makes the requirements clearer I will be happy to pass it along to the team. Although I am not a decisionmaker in this situation, the team may elect to alter some of the wording in the track description, if this is seen as a preponderant issues and if it is possible to do so.
Thanks for your feedback.

Hello,
We’re sorry that you’re having difficulties, but posting in a forum will not get the problem solved, because the majority of issues are related to your specific system, your router, firewall settings, security software, network, ISP, regional Internet backbone, and much more.
Rather than post here, please submit a ticket to Customer Support so that experts can help you with your individual issues. Obviously, in a thread with a few dozen posts over the last two years, this is not a common or systemic or Guild Wars 2 problem. It’s a problem related to your individual situation. And we’d like to help you by discussing via a support ticket.
Click “Support” at the top of this page, then “Submit a request” to start a ticket. It will be well worth your time to do so!
I’m glad that we were able to take care of the issue. I’ll flag this as “resolved.”
Hey all,
Thanks for joining in! You can find more posts, links to screenshots, and more in the In-Game Events sub-forum. Here’s the thread.
I had so much fun. I popped between worlds, and the turn-out was amazing. Here is one of my favorite screenshots. (I took a lot. )

This has had quite enough time as an active thread. Rants are really counterproductive, and walls of text consisting of personal opinions that still presume to speak for all players are inappropriate. Closing

Same problem here, just i tryed travel to Divinity’s Reach, and now i can’t play.
Issues of this sort need to be reported to Customer Support via a ticket. If we see a major issue that involves a number of players, we’ll post about it on the forums. But generally, these are individual issues that require direct conversation with an agent.
In addition, this post was last updated in November, and before that in March of last year. To avoid confusion, we’ll lock it now.
I thought I saw something extra shiny lately. That’s beautiful! Thanks for the post and for sharing the screenshot that makes it clear how awesome that set is!
Hello,
I brought up your comments in a team meeting today. Keep in mind that many of us on the team are major fans of fan fiction, and we have thought long and hard about how we might include such works in Community Showcase Live. However, we have concluded that the format of the show is most conducive to visual art, whether that is a photograph of cosplay, a piece of digital art, a sculpture, a plushy, and so forth, and that’s the way we intend to present the show in the future.
But take heart! If you’re writing fan fiction, there are a few media that you can use to reach more readers:
If you do that latter, please be sure you read through the guidelines for content, because our content guidelines for fan fiction are somewhat strict, as they must be in anything that uses our canon characters. If you submit to our Tumblr page, be sure you tag your work with “GW2 Fan Submission.”
Due to the time required for fan fiction reviews, we must be very selective about what we choose to publish on our Tumblr page. But again, I’d suggest you reach out to the Guild Wars 2 fan fiction community as a whole, and join in, get feedback, and potentially build your own following there.
Having said that, I always add “call outs” for content that cannot be included in the show. You may have seen them in the past, where I point to a comic or call out a YouTube audible file of a narrative work. This month’s CSL happens to include a call to action on the subject of fan fiction, so I think you’ll be pleased with that.

We had a couple of very brief disconnect issues this past weekend. I am trying to merge recent threads below so that we can keep the information about this in one place.
Our Network Team noticed two “burps” yesterday and reacted immediately. I was playing most of the day/evening, and I only had the two around Noon Pacific time, about 3-5 minutes apart. I was able to log in again immediately, and after Noon, things were just fine throughout the evening.
At this point, I haven’t seen recent reports except those that I believe are related to someone’s personal situation (explained below) rather than to an issue involving a lot of players.
Three tips related to disconnects:
Thanks.

This sounds like a very fun and well-planned event. And the prizes are awesome!
Happy Anniversary, Jade Reapers!
This is a wonderful idea, and I know I will do my best to be there!
I have shared on my Facebook page, and encourage others to do the same. Tell your guilds! Share with friends! Get the word out and let’s make give this event the fantastic support it deserves!
We’ve received a number of reports from players who are experiencing system crashes while installing Guild Wars 2 updates/patches. We’re very sorry to learn about this situation, and our team has taken an extensive look at the crash logs in order to identify possible sources for the problem. At the present time, we believe that a significant number of these crashing issues are related to anti-virus software produced by Lavasoft called Web Companion. Specifically, an element in that product’s DLL is not allowing Guild Wars 2 players to update their games.
Our suggestion at this time is to check to see if you have the most current version of the software. If you do not, you should update your software immediately. If you do that and continue to experience system crashes, we recommend you uninstall your Lavasoft product in order to allow the Guild Wars 2 patch to download. Once the game update is complete, you may reinstall the Lavasoft product if you so desire.
We have reached out to Lavasoft to share the issues that we’ve identified and to discuss a possible resolution. If we have any further information, such as a timeframe for a resolution, we will share it with you.

As mentioned, there was a previous post about this. Please do not repeat posts, or start up conversations in a new thread that have posted at an earlier time.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Since we’re getting a bit into circular discussion on the topic, we’ll close this thread.
Since we know this is a bug, and that it’s on the way to being corrected, I’m going to move this to the Bugs Sub-Forum and merge two threads.
I’m having a hard time seeing “jumping up and down on a dead enemy” as abusive, really. It’s annoying, sure. But it’s not something I’d consider reportable. As for your other examples, if you suspect they’re doing something that isn’t possible, then report for botting.
If I reported every player who stood behind me and swooshed his sword or cast his spells endlessly, just as a means of getting attention, I’d be reporting until the Dolyaks come home. Fact is, a lot of this stuff is attention-seeking, and I would give as little attention as possible to it, including spending even 30 seconds of my time to report.
I just move on. Suggest you do as you wish, though, because if it’s truly bothersome to you, reporting can be worthwhile.
We are looking at more meaningful and easy ways for players to report forums issues, but that’s a bit away. More on that at a later time.
Please don’t say you are considering using players as moderators.
Not on my watch. Never on my watch.

Are the current moderators not players also? Though, if they were to expand their workforce with current players, I hope they are well well vetted.
Yes, everyone on our moderation team has a game account, so they do play the game. I believe as a lead that this helps everyone, when the moderators are also familiar with the game.
It’s important to note, though, that they have a very explicit set of guidelines on how they perform their job. Hey, I wrote the policies, so as you can imagine they’re 107 pages long, with 3,201 bullet points.
Given that being a moderator is holding a job, and that one’s job is one’s livelihood, moderators don’t mess around. I have been happy with our mods and believe they are performing in a reliable and capable manner.

How close is the dev team to leaving in such “nerfs” just to rightfully spite a segment of this game’s community?
Not close at all. Our devs are professionals, and they want what’s best for the game and the community at large. I think I understand what you’re asking, but honestly, we try very hard to look beyond the form of messaging to the content, and we work with that as much as possible.
My comments were, again, on a personal level. I do believe our community is the best in the business, but I recognize also that sometimes some players lose sight of the big picture, and sometimes they post imprudently or impulsively and I just firmly believe we can do better, as a whole.
Bottom line: I’m asking everyone to try very hard to share input, feedback, even complaints (and yes, we do allow those ) in the most meaningful way possible. I know I might use “constructive” a lot, but really, that’s what it’s all about!
Official Statement:
The most recent information we have is this bug has been identified and a fix has been made in the development setting. We believe this fix will roll out very soon, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. It is not possible to correct the issue today, so we appreciate your patience on this.
Not an official statement, just a personal feeling here, because honestly, I feel I must…
I really don’t care what “reasons” someone feels they have for posting comments that include insults, name-calling, accusations (now known to be completely untrue!), or “justifications” for going off the rails.
We are all human beings. Human beings make mistakes, sure. But a human being is writing to you now, and several other human beings assessed this situation, another has already worked up the fix for this, and yet another will hit the button that will implement that fix.
We want to make you happy, and part of that is working with you to identify and correct the bugs we’re able to fix. Pointing to another issue, pointing to a disagreement about a BLTC offering, comments such as “Yeah, but this other time…” have no place in a reasonable conversation.
I believe this community can do better. No, I know we can.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
People, people, people.
You have a legitimate question, all of you. But some of you are going off the rails with a really high level of snarkiness, grumpiness, and general unpleasantness.
I have asked around, and after some discussion amongst teams, we think we may understand what happened. What you want (need) to know is this: The change to the Silverwastes drops was not intentional, and it will be corrected.
If you could please avoid the name-calling and the other tin-foil hat comments, I’d appreciate it. I can get down into core issues a lot more quickly, save myself a pair of permanently-raised eyebrows, and save my team members another muttered “Oh really, you guys?” if you just ask the question straight up and let us get you an answer!
Thanks! And I’ll update when we have more info!
I do not know that the team is looking at expanding the options/selectable reasons for in-game reports at the present time, but I will share your thoughts on this subject.
We are looking at more meaningful and easy ways for players to report forums issues, but that’s a bit away. More on that at a later time.
In the meantime, I can’t help but think that in-game reports are good. They usually are easy to make and in most cases they do the trick. But sometimes, a ticket is better. It allows you to go into details and at the same time, you can mention whether you have screenshots or other files and attach them if the team requests them. (You cannot send a screenshot with your initial report, but do mention that you have them, because attachments are possible in subsequent responses to the ticket.)
In all fairness you guys should have added more reporting options ages ago because they are hopelessly insufficient. How do you expect to make a healthy competitive PvP environment if you do not even have the proper tools in place for us to report toxic behaviour such as afk’ing or just trolling matches? I have consistently reported them under botting, I just hope that does not bite me in the kitten because they weren’t really bots but trolls/afk’rs. Also I want to bring up the apparant lack of action on those reports. I literally have been told to go and kill myself but I get the impression such reports are not taken too serious.
Both the report system and how Anet deals with reports needs to be seriously looked into.
Given you’ve not been satisfied with the outcome of your previous reports, have you used the ticket system, and the expanded options it affords you?

Dyes have been sent (voila — it’s magic!) to those who purchased while the Heroic Dye Packs were bugged.
The issue with the packs has been addressed and sales have been re-enabled in the store. We should be good moving forward. Thanks for your patience while we got all this sorted.
Hey all,
We discovered an issue with the Heroic Dye Packs, and their purchase has been temporarily disabled while the team works on a fix. If you purchased a dye pack, don’t worry, we’ll take care of you!
When the fix rolls out, we’ll be sure that those who purchased the packs get any missing dyes. This means that you do not need to submit a ticket.
We’ll update when we have more information on this subject.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
It essentially “breaks” things if the topic is too long — makes a mess of the index page and the post itself. Plus it’s of little value to have a novella as a subject, since the display line on the index page will not accommodate such beefy verbiage.
I rather like what people are suggesting: Give some thought to a short, snappy, meaningful title. It’s not difficult and it helps encourage reading a good thread!
Hey all,
There has been some confusion about raids, and lore, and about how everything fits together. To read some info on this subject, right from a person who’s truly “in the know,” please see this thread that Bobby Stein posted this evening.
Thanks for this information, Bobby! There have been some questions about these topics lately. It’s great of you to cast a light on this info!
I am sorry that some of you still are having difficulties. I have passed along your comments (with links) so that the Network Team can investigate.
Update: The Network Team has updated us to say that they noted issues with certain ISPs, and they have tried to address that problem by rerouting inbound traffic. They believe this would have addressed most issues, and that is confirmed by a noticeable increase in on-line players, so we feel we’re out of the woods on this one.
Thank you for the report. Our Network Center let us know a short while ago that they can confirm a drop in player counts across multiple games, including Guild Wars 2.
The team is working on this and will have it corrected as soon as possible!
If we need any information, such as trace routes or specific locations, we’ll update to let you know.
Thanks for your patience.
Hey guys,
I just want to point out that Rising Dusk is giving his opinion of what may take place in the future. Maybe even a “wish list” for Raids.
Our forum specialists are not privy to confidential information such as forward-looking, unannounced plans. They represent our forum members, and they do it well. Their perspective is of particular value because they are looking at the game as you do — as members of the player community. To keep that clear perspective, we don’t expose them to internal testing, NDA-bound info, private/internal communications, or that sort of thing.
I wanted to make this clear so that no one is under the mis-impression that there has been a “leak” or that our specialist is “dropping hints” about future raids based on private internal communications. They are simply sharing their thoughts and opinions, which is perfectly fine.
On a personal note, the guilds I belong to are really enjoying raids, and several members have said, as Mireles Lore mentioned, that the new content is reinvigorating their gaming.
The next episode of CSL will air on June 22nd at Noon Pacific Time.
I’ve already selected most of the assets for the June show, but don’t let that dissuade you from continuing to post your art! I go back months to find tasty things to show, so there’s always a chance that something submitted in one month will be featured the next month or even several months after it was first posted.
Thank you all for making this show so much fun!
