Then you read it wrong. She’s saying in her experience she’s encountered this once or twice. She never said because it wasn’t a problem for her, it wasn’t a problem for someone else. She’s saying in most cases it’s probably accidental.

Correct. I did not say “It’s not a problem.” I simply gave an estimate — sustained by the members of this thread — that this is not a frequent issue, and I suggested — again agreed by several — that in many cases the situation arises out of accidental causes.

Any spamming of devs in the game is rude and inappropriate, and it would not result in action and would not impact decision-making. We play on our own accounts, and for the vast majority of the time, on our non-work hours. Bringing issues to the attention of devs in the game is not effective, and frankly, it’s not appropriate.

You (the OP) feel this is a significant issue. Many have disagreed with your assessment, but the thread remains on the forums and, if the dev team agrees that this needs to be added to the “to do” list, they will make that happen.

Can you imagine someone who accidentally spawns a banker or other element getting suspended? Really?? “Dear player — you put your golem banker in the wrong place, so welcome to SuspensionLand™.” That just doesn’t set well in my mind’s eye.

If someone does this to grief others, well, why not just move on and let it go? I cannot see the team investing the time to show spawners’ names, and I really don’t believe this request has a high level of priority. If a dev decides to take on this request, I’m sure they will post to indicate that.

The update of September 20, 2016, will present Living World Season 3, Episode 2 for the first time. This means that Episode 1 no longer will be automatically unlocked for anyone who logs in to the game, but it certainly will remain available in the future.

After the update, you will be able to acquire the episode through your Story Journal with a cost in gems. If you wish to acquire the episode for free, please do so prior to Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Once unlocked, you may play the Episode 1 content at any time afterwards, as you desire.

Special Note: You must own Heart of Thorns to play the Living World content. If you do not own HoT now, you still may unlock the content during each active period and then, if you get HoT in the future you’ll have the episodes ready to play.

Two things:

• We are trying to use consistency in our nomenclature, and are using the word “episode” rather than “chapter” when referring to Living World seasons. While it may be “chapter” in the Personal Story (I’m actually not sure about that), it’s definitely “episode” in the Living World seasons.

• It is recommended that you get Ley Line Gliding in addition to standard Gliding. Although I believe the former would not be absolutely required to complete the episode, it’s a very useful (and fun!!) thing to have when playing Episode 1: Out of the Shadows content.

Just a note that I am submitting this post for localization, so that our French-, German-, and Spanish-speaking players also can share their thoughts on this subject.

I believe that Matt will be gathering your feedback over the next several days to allow those who want to do so to share their thoughts.

If that’s the case, we couldn’t showcase this on our Community Showcase Live stream, because we can only use pieces that include our own music, or music that is guaranteed to be offered by the artist as free use, Creative Commons, etc.

We’re not able to see that this music falls into that (free use) category, but if you know otherwise, please let me know.

In order to accommodate other shows and projects, we’re going to air CSL a week later than normal, so the fourth Wednesday of the month, on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. at Noon Pacific time. I hope you can join us then!

Upcoming Show Dates:

• October: Halloween theme — show date October 26
• Norn-vember: Norn theme — show date November 23
• December: Wintersday/Holiday theme — show date December 14

I review assets a couple of weeks before the shows, so, for instance, Wintersday art will need to be in the forums or on Tumblr by early in December in order to be considered for this year’s show. However, as I’ve mentioned before, I do go back in time to gather art, and some of the items to be shown in this year’s Halloween show actually came from last year’s submissions.

Fair enough. But, here’s the bit: I don’t know your region, and I am not sure of your provider (That’s the generic “your” not you specifically.)

What I’d like to suggest is that players who have found a work-around please post here. Share your Region and your Provider name, so that people across the country, with a different provider, don’t find themselves trying pointless measures.

So like this:

• My provider is: [name]
• I am in [state] or [city, state]
• This is what I did to work around this problem

Update: Players have reached out to their ISP (Century Link is often mentioned) and the company has recommended a quick and easy process that helped the player get back into the game. So if you’re experiencing this issue, please do contact your provider and ask them for troubleshooting recommendations.

I do like the idea of not receiving whispers from people who aren’t mutual friends. That is a worthy suggestion, in and of itself, regardless of the gold selling scum.

Frankly, I would agree with those of you who feel that way, and I do see the value of that. In my line of work, it wouldn’t be the best thing. But for most players, yep, it’s something I believe could make a good QoL change.

But I wanted to ask a question: How would you build a friend list without whispers? Or maybe I’m more wondering how would you discuss adding someone, mutually, without whispers? Open chat?

How do you suggest we “close down” a company in another country, on another continent? Yes, they have accounts. Some are purchased. Others are stolen, and they’re not stolen through a loophole in our systems, but through insecure practices on the part of the user or through a breach of another service where the user has used the same password. (Example: User has 123XYZ as their password on SomeMailProvider.com and uses the same on Guild Wars 2.)

This means:

• We cannot close down another company.
• We will not IP Block so that entire nations, regions, or continents are unable to join our game. (That would seem most likely to impact legitimate players, and the bad guys would use work-around.)
• We can help players who are hacked, and we can offer advice on how to best prevent it, but we cannot actively prevent individual account thefts because that’s simply outside our reach.

Which means that you should:

• Block them in chat.
• Submit a report (right click on their name in chat, left click to open the report window, then choose “gold seller” as the reason).
• Never buy gold from a third party and don’t accept it from those who do.

With your help, we can do our best to reduce the annoying chatter and, coupled with not supporting their business through spending, will have a significant impact on the company. Thanks for your help!

I agree with some of the other posts. My first thought also was that people may have developed some level of skepticism — even call it “healthy skepticism” about giveaways, both those offered in the game and in real life, too! (Did I tell you about that poor person, a member of the royalty of XXX country, who offered me £45,000,000 if I would help them get the estate of their assassinated relative settled?)

I am in the game every night, and I see quite a few offers. Sometimes it’s clearly a joke and sometimes it’s really not too clear if something is legitimate or not. Also, I have a few agendas, so as Djinn said, whether I get diverted to participate is pretty subjective. Although I have to say that 90G would be pretty darn likely to catch my eye.

I hope you’ll continue to do fun things like this, and I do mean fun for us players and fun for you, too!

The initial post in this thread has some pretty unpleasant undertones. Our races are these: Human, Norn, Asura, Charr, and Sylvari. Whether they have, or an individual sees, certain similarities to races in the real world is irrelevant. They are what they are, and we are proud of the cultures they represent and the rich history they bring to Tyria.

Whether a representative is a major component of a story arc, or plays a secondary role, tokenism just really isn’t part of our story.

I am closing this thread. If someone fails to understand why, you’re welcome to contact us but somehow, I don’t think anyone will fail to see why the closure took place.

This question posed by this topic has been asked and answered by an official source. This option is not planned, and is actually not possible within the contexts of our game lore. And that decision is clearly accepted, even approved, within this thread.

Thanks for posting to ask this question. I am routing this internally to get an answer. For years I was the person to whom such inbound mails were routed, so I could figure out which team member would handle the inquiry. But if the address is not working, we’ll want to get that fixed, whether the mails come to me or someone else.

In the meantime, I agree with Ic that you could submit a ticket to Customer Support for an answer to your question.

A few threads have been created giving input on the roll-back that took place yesterday. I have merged them into this thread.

I want to let you know that nearly all reversals and replacements have been made. The CS Team did this in a matter of hours, and given the nature of this situation, that’s pretty impressive! However, do check your account before doing so because the vast majority of players have been taken care of and are good to go.
