Yes, about 5 times the amount of a year of WoW time.
Last time I checked my paypal, I had spent over 700$ in gems, and have since bought at least another 6000 gems.
And you are even proud of it. I feel for you.
Definitely not proud.. was pretty shocked when I looked and actually added it all up.
It’s easy to get carried away, especially when they add something new to the gem store every single week :/
Oh I’m sure you’re not alone on that.
To better help you guys you need to provide more information your ISP, your location not your exact location but country and city, are you connecting over Wifi or either net cable. PC specs and OS, and is the OS 32 or 64bit. Most often lag is caused by packet loss between your ISP and the game servers, did you run a ping path test.
Can you list the GW2 IPs to ping, I want to try this.
My lag was worse 2 patches ago but it started to get better, but after fractured it’s started to lag again.
Uh, yes they are. The droprate of t6 is beyond awful. No less if you want something certain – good luck getting them!
Oh of course you will get them eventually, what with only hundreds upon hundreds of hours later, killing the same mob over and over? No grind indeed.
For shame! For shame..

This char was a male a week ago, originally made a female but the running animation was offputting back then. Got bored of male and don’t think I’ll ever make it one again.
Female clothes are so much nicer.
My two main looks – first is WvW + multi-purpose PvE. Second is hardcore PvE.
That last screenshot is very naic. Good combo too.
Really tired of seeing T3 always hehheh.

I agree. These essential upgrades are way overpriced, and now that the gold to gem is so steep, how is one supposed to get them without paying with real money?
“Well ur not its convience u dont need it but ignoring the fact not having it will make ur life quite a pain in the game blablabla.”
Wuts going on? They’re going back up consistently.
This isn’t good.
It’s not good at all.
pls.
It’s unfortunate anet thinks if we want our loot we have to play it a lot more safe and keep hammering aoe loot.
You guys are very cute.

The hate toward hero started way back when you couldn’t control the members badmouthing and talking smack against pug commanders or other guilds. I remember well that “superiority” complex a lot of heroes happened to have, how everyone was worse than hero!1! Only way late did you guys start enforcing to stop talking smack but the damage had already been done. Obviously bandwagoning and the fact you left without trying to correct things didn’t help, but it was pretty bad from the get-go. You can only blame yourself for the hate.

I don’t think anyone has ever even heard a rumour of a skin dropping at 10s prior this announcement.
Players like me who buy Gems with real money, then trade the Gems for Gold slowly help to resupply the Gem count.
This explains so much. No wonder your stance toward the game is like so.
Spoiler: there was always a rare chance to get them in the 10-20ish. The only change we made was to make them skins so you can apply them without spending a transmutation stone.
Not that it matters since i dont do the lower lvls but when you say rare you must mean, Extremely Ultra Super Rare. .00000001% chance. Cause i never heard of it happening before lol.
Indeed I have not heard a single person even rumor about getting them at 10s. If this is the case and no change has been made, then great!
It’s worded poorly but general understanding that is going on is…
If you have an infused backpiece it will have 2 infusion slots. One of those infusion slots will have a +5 infusion, the other will be whatever was in the backpiece originally. If you have a normal non-infused backpiece it will have 1 infusion slot.
That would make sense, let’s see.
Again it just comes down to those wealthy TP folk who dun play the game.
So they need to add proper gold sinks.
It is a pretty bad booster, but at least it is useful compared to something like rejuvination one.
And I’m having a difficult time seeing people run 40s even moderately and not getting a drop. ~75% of the runs I had in 40s had a guy link a weapon at the end. And my luck is generally very poor regarding drops in the game, so this is one instance I cannot believe anyone who claims 40s wont drop anything if you do them daily.
And again, 500 is a low fractal number. Anet should have made it possible to see the total amount of fractals youve ever done.
They kinda are common already but that’s because of the actual long endured work people put into acquiring them.
“long endured work”? lol.
I know people who’ve gotten a sweet skin the first time they run level 20 while I’ve gotten probably 30 chests at levels 20-40 without a single skin i can use. Simply beating a level 20 and praying to the RNG gods is practically as much of a joke as beating a level 10 with the same dumb luck.
Well some of us weren’t so lucky, I did 20s and 30s a lot, got jack, then did the way harder 40s and started getting them. Seeing this become a drop on 10 is a joke.
And 500 fractals? That’s practically nothing. I’ve been doing them since launch of FOTM and the numbers are probably astronomical. I earned my skins, seeing people have a chance at them at such easy levels is just wrong.
Meanwhile, some guy with 1500 AP gets one the first time he runs a level 20 frac. The system is crap and doesn’t necessarily reward people who work hard.
Time and time again, when I hear people start doing 40s they generally start getting drops. The fact that some get lucky is unfortunate, but so far this has been the most solid testament to risk/reward with 40s being the hardest the game offers.

Second, you are not “forced” to do the TP minigame. No one is. Scores of people acquired multiple legendaries without it. Y
NOPE.JPG
Try farming the actual mats, 250 of each, go ahead, just try.
Dropping from level 10 will make these extremely common. They kinda are common already but that’s because of the actual long endured work people put into acquiring them. I don’t think this change is necessary as it will only bring the prestige down from one of the only skins in the game that is an account bound drop by default and it really is like a smack in the face for those who worked for their skins, who had to run AT LEAST 20+ fractals. Most with a lot of skins probably ran 40’s more so.
Poor = Lazy
Rich = Committed
Poor = people who actually play the game
Rich = people who do not or the few who just get lucky all the time
Good job broski.
big gamble. if they introduce them as fractal drops it probably will plummet to 75g or so.
Ah wishful thinking.
I am very glad to see that entitlement argument creeping up at every possible direction, because hey, it solves everything, doesn’t it!? Suggestions for improvement? Entitlement of course! Leave if you don’t like! lol.
Thanks for your contributions ohoni, people tend to lose faith in even bothering to show other perspectives because of the inanely forceful nature of the forums atmosphere. Even if it’s just the usual suspects. And I agree with you whole heartedly. The amount of money power traders are amassing is really getting out of hand and buyouts become more and more common.
(edited by Gasoline.2570)
They made the game didn’t they? They control all of the droprates, yes? So there, the whole market is made by them, I don’t understand why the question.
Market manipulation? No such thing they’ve said! Tinfoils everywhere.
It’s been going on for like a week now. My EU connection to US Dragonbrand server was fine, just about always, but now I keep lagging no matter what I do. Game has been unplayable like this. What’s funny is guesting other servers improves it, but not by much.
When was the last maintenance? I’ve started having insane lag too some days ago. PC keeps saying I have around 250-350 ping to the GW servers whilst other games are quite fine.
I am EU connecting to US servers as well.
Hundreds? If you had all minis your collection lost like a 1000g in value lewl.
Don’t blame ANet, blame dodgeless players that let the abomination stack zerk buff. They are as easy as an ettin to dodge.
Now talking about general elites poppin in any scaled event… I LOVE it, but I’d like to see a drop table associate it to them… killing them knowing they will drop nothing its a bit annoying.
Cleric + soldier runes
Pro design when you get 1 shot regardless of build.
And yes, the npc’s stack 25 frenzy on them all day long. That’s just dumb..
I’m not insinuating that their purpose is nefarious. I look at Jon Smith the same way I look at a central bank chairman. He has to create the conditions that promote economic activity. It would make sense to steer the consumer towards the gem store to purchase gems and convert them to gold.
Why would that make more sense than encouraging folks to buy gems with gold to get gem store items? By having really desirable items in the gem store, ANet both encourages folks to spend real cash and encourages folks to flush gold out of the economy by buying gems.
If gold is too easy to get via farming and or grinding then it reduces the demand for gems. Gem sales is how they make money.
8000 gems for 100$ wasn’t available for awhile; at least not until they made changes toward farming and grinding. It’s more time consuming to farm for the materials you need now than it ever was when the game launched. I think that created a market for people with disposable income and they saw an increase in people buying gems to convert to gold.
Quoted for emphasis. Good post brother man.
Uhm, yeah. You could tone down the abominations, their attacks are a bit overpowered.
Also the loot is worse than veterans, wat gives.

People used to sell blues and greens. Champ boxes nerfed. Incredibly high sinks like you mentioned + the blue/Green mats going into tp circulation instead.
I would heavily doubt theres that much gold coming into the game right now. It had to be a lot worse before.
This has gone for very long now. I take it there has been no reply at all?
No I’m just pointing out most of the methods he listed are horrible way of making any money. It is stupid, indeed.
1. DEs
2. Champs
3. World Events
4. Dungeons
5. Fractals (w/ some obvious exceptions, as that whole experience was ‘designed’ as a bit of an ‘off in the corner’ vertical progression for those that enjoy that sort of thing).
6. WvW
7. Selling on the TP
8. ???

Edit: There could be a misunderstanding about what prices Gene Archer mentioned. He’s mentioning the in game crafting and merchant prices, not the Trading Post prices. The champion bag loot has a role in the Trading Post prices, but not in the crafting and merchant prices. Especially when those prices are not in terms of gold.
This. The only reason I even brought it up is because there’s no doubt the resident economist has a say in how items are priced, since he’s the one deciding what needs to be done with the TP and any items associated with it.
And the point there has to do with them designing their content and tuning it to the portion of the playerbase who farms nonstop and has a large quantity of various items from it. It’s bad design. And it will always be bad design, because all it does is alienate everyone who isn’t that type of player because it makes those items out of their reach, 100%.
And that takes away from the fun of the game.
I guess what I’m saying is this: Is a healthy economy really worth it if the game becomes a game of playing the market to be able to afford anything nice? Is a healthy economy worth sucking the fun out of killing a mob or a boss and getting a shiny? Sure, the reward isn’t necessary per say, but it certainly adds to the fun. This is a fantasy game, after all, and we’re the heroes!
We slay the dragon! We rescue the damsel/knight! We pull that awesome looking Chicken Dagger from the mystical stone and claim the BoS Power Armor that makes us look totally boss!
Content needs to be rewarding, in story, experience (not exp), and in loot.
Good post and inb4 “its not a game for you” posts from resident forumites.
The developers are clueless.
Watch out now, you might get banned!
It’s just a silly nerf to end hammer spam. Of course everything else is ignored, so as long as the hammer goes.
You know what’s funny? I already am using 5/6 of those dam runes. You know if I wanted to? Of course I did not…
It does increase the viability, but not a whole lot.
I really love this changes and devs going to right direction.
“Great Mobility” and “D/D play style” should be gone.
NO ANY MORE D/D.
Great Mobility is not for Ele, for Thief, you all know that,
and Devs said so.
I do not understand , why you guys keeping to ask for Mobility to Ele( RTL CD back).
It’s over for RTL.we have to go next step.
leave from 30 arcana.
off course we have still a long way to go.
but this is a great first step.I hope that weapon skills are goint to have a great step.
I like your post, so I liked it.
It should be 25%, I mean you still need to be using air the whole time to get it, so why not? The 10% doesn’t do anything, I swear..
I really don’t understand anets fascination of creating useless traits and traitlines, there’s too many of them. Fixing is easy also, as I said, this should be 25% because you don’t gain access to it through other lines.
(edited by Gasoline.2570)
p/d does need a lot of ini if you want to spam stealth 1 skill, but if you arent doing that then how else do you suppose you get the stacks of bleed that allow you to do any damage, because everytime I keep using pistol 1, the bleeds just disappear instantly, no matter of condition duration food or traits. You know how silly it feels in wvw when you try to damage anyone whos running away from you and basically not get damaged at all? It is beyond ridiculous. And yes, bleed duration needs and increase and aftercast needs to be shorter, but also pistol 2 is in a terrible situation with p/d, the vulnerability is a waste, it should be another damaging condition. Who uses 2 for vuln with a pistol? Really? Pistol main hand will never be used for direct damage, not even for trying to boost the crappy p/p burst that does very little damage.
But it’s been like this ages, what gives? I don’t see condition thieves touched, like, ever. Since anet obviously wants to keep nerfing the most common builds, which are power based, why is it that condition is ignored.
(edited by Gasoline.2570)
If you guys read from the balance post, again, there will be no condition buffs.
Condition thief is very limited because of the really quick way of bursting and it wearing off too fast, even with condi duration foods the actual conditions just aren’t viable, honestly.
I just want to have a very viable condi thief that has multiple ways of approaching the damage type.. Venoms in particular are the silliest thing, where you get some (very little) viability to your condi dps, you lose just about the most important utility skills the class has, reducing your survivability greatly. And now with the ini nerfs, how are you suppose to garner up the ini you need for p/d? The 5 skill eats way too much and on top of that, its super hard to land.
At least make them drop increased amounts of mats. Getting rid of the coin and not replacing it is a terrible choice.
Hello all, I looked into this because we intended to have a release note for the changes to the champion loot.
We did modify the gold and bloodstone dust coming from champion bags, and a release note will be added shortly.
What I can tell you is that we made a mistake, this one fell through the cracks and I’m truly sorry. I’ve promised before that we won’t make stealthy economic changes without notes and I mean to stick to that promise.
Thank you all for pointing out the error, we will be more vigilant in the future.
Good luck in your adventures.
Really? Why did you nerf the gold drop???
I actually wonder how low they will go as the rares from BLC are dropping in price, as well.
Take longer to kill than the waste of time veterans and provide nothing more in terms of reward? Whats the point of these mobs in the open world? They were bad enough in dungeons.
