Guild Wars 2

Guild wars 2 is for me the best leveling experience i have ever had in an MMO. It felt like adventure! More like Morrowind or Skyrim than an MMO most of the time due to exploration being rewarded.

So i really have no complaints other than the personal story which i find to be just awfull, but you dont need that to level

Nope, i tend to listen to ingame music and sounds, kinda helps with the whole immersion thing for me

People still having problems with being unable to cast skills? I havent had that issue since they increased server cap a few weeks back..

I bought it, not because i had to but because i wanted to support Anet.

I actually have this same problem with certain random objects in the game. exactly two trees i found in plains of ashford at feritas waypoint are flickering as bright light. Some objects in other zones have the same issue.

I like normal looking stuff, and heavily dislike alot of special effects(like in legendaries, only nice looking effect comes from juggernaut, rest are shiet).

This game isn’t exactly gritty fantasy setting with realistic armor but for the most part they have done it pretty well and i am pleased. I just hope they tone down the legendary effects(footprints especially, and wtf is it with the frigging unicorn bow?!)
and im also hoping this games armor will never go too asian :P

Guild wars 2 does the vague storytelling better so far than the full on in the face story through personal story..

Ive greatly also enjoyed the type of storytelling a game like Darksouls gives and a game like the witcher and those two are pretty much opposite. Both can be great if done right, and gw2 is doing the vague get it only if you really pay attention kind of storytelling better, and i dont really mind. But on the other side the full on story could be improven upon by alot.

And OP i’m in no way a gw2 lore expert but theres lots of things you complain about which are in the game.. for example ‘’- I’d like to be able to get more “100 years back, this happened, which caused these problems to arise, which we are still fighting today.” Or maybe “These old dwarven cities hold relics that might tell us something about the Elder Dragons, and how that we might defeat them.”’’

There are ALOT of signs of the past… the whole of orr being one of them… or Ascalon.. and so forth.. these places are pretty much all about what happened there (insert time) ago.

There is lots of room to improve for sure, but even I(i’m more interested in dark fantasy not this fairytale happy land of gw2) have found plenty of lore out there. I dont think gw2 is lacking it. I like it more than WoWs lore these days (i loved warcraft lore up till wow came out, kittening christ did they butcher it as years have gone by)

I havent spend a penny yet in the gw2 gem shop and havent ever felt the need to.
Infact i got alot of gold right now but i want to buy some gems just to support Anet.

Sure you can get gold by having alot of money in real life but gold is NOT HARD TO GET AT ALL INGAME. So you really, really dont need to. Hence no reason to even bring this up at all.

Give the game some time, and start doing PvP to get into the combat more. Even with a limited ammount of abilities the combat does have quite a bit of depth. Also explore the combinations of abilities you can get between classes with your friend

The game rewards reflex quite a bit aswell due to dodging!

Its a chaotic mess when you dont properly understand the game yet. And dodging used to for kiting is the noobish way of using dodging : P

Got lv80 character since launch and loving the game the only grind is if you are in a huge hurry to get ascended, and that is it. You can get ascended with extremely easy to do dailies so.. where the kitten is the grind you speak of? In the different looks? Those should be something to work for… as you know.. they provide no advandage :P

The game is amazing fun, and there is nothing you NEED to grind for..
So there really isnt a grind ; p (working for looks is no frigging grind)

And ascended are no grind either when you have the option to do a 20minute daily to get the pieces one by one(this is what im doing)

If you want to just see other people lions arch and divinitys reach are popular places but culling will get pretty bad there and you will only see people near you :P(they are working on this in pve zones, its fixed in pvp)

You should be able to find people in most zones… im on med pop server and dont have really any issues : o maybe some zones are less popular than others tho.

It’s not the request that people are arguing over really, we can all agree that more options need to be added, like removing followers, blocking people properly and whatnot.

It’s how the system is implemented that’s debatable and some people are getting overly paranoid and having a nice feud over it.

Alright, i will admit i didn’t read far in the thread and just assumed (as my brain didn’t come up with this scenario) so that is entirely my fault ;p

We cant know exactly how well Guild wars 2 is doing, but what i do know is that after every MMO released you get a series of bad news. ‘’Population dropping rapidly!’’ or ‘’[Company name] has fired many of its staff!’’ and so forth. In gw2 it seems to have gone the opposite way which in my book is a good sign, i have yet to see news about this game that make me feel like the game is going down the drain, which has happened with every other MMO i have played.(the exception to this would be wow i suppose, but i played that kittenty kitten game for a month so)

I play on piken square and every pug dungeon ive joined(every dungeon ive done, i only got one good friend to call upon) has been a positive experience. Ive ran through CoF p1 3times in my gametime and even then when i whiped the first time no one raged and no one kicked, i got advice and we continued on.

Ive done most of the other dungeons, and the only once did anyone get annoyed about whiping, and that one person wasnt an kitten about it. He said he just wasnt in the mood for whiping right now so we should find a new player to join up, we did and finished the dungeon.

So i really haven’t seen this side of the community.. what ive seen of gw2 community so far is amazing compared to any other MMO ive played ^^ I wonder if i just got lucky or if it is my server.
But yeah sucks what happened to you, avoid joining pugs in cof1 i guess :P

And i think the reasoning behind being so elitist about cof1 because you want to save time for your legendary is a pretty poor one… just because you want something fast doesnt mean you should be a kitten about it

I dont like most of the legendaries atm, if the majority of people ever get them this game will turn into a huge circus with annoying sounds all over the place(some legendary gun and bow make annoying as hell sounds)

I like the idea of making legendaries change your effects and such, to make you truly unique, but as it is now the legendaries make your character look more kitten than anything.

The one weapon i think has the best effect is the juggernaut. That effect actually looks good and is not over the top nor will it annoy everyone close to you :P

When they add more legendaries in the future i would want to see a bit more toned down effects

Its been at launch, how much you have to drink to get it depends on what you are drinking. So when you tested it at launch you probably drank something weak, and you didnt get the effect from just one, and now you drank something strong that gave it to you right away.

Oh and with some settings (dont know which) in graphics the drunk effect will be off or on, so its tied to some setting there.(a friend of mine had to beef up his ingame graphics to get the effect)

I prefer WvW over sPvP for a few reasons.

Its less predictable:
The maps are pretty big, you might meet 1 player or you might meet 100 players at once :P

More variety:
Again for same reason as above, you get big fights, small fights and soo forth, also you get more variety in your surroundings as the map is a lot bigger ;p

Better moments/memories!:
In spvp you wont end up killing 10 players with 4 of you, or chased by a mega zerg that could populate a kitten city, spvp is the same every match to the point it just feels the same everytime, while in wvwvw youll get laughs, facepalming, and at times your jaw will hit the kitten floor!

And last but not least!
Seeing human nature, isn’t it amazing how you will see people engage you only if they outnumber you 2 to 1? Or multiple people decide it’l be fun to attack you alone and once you kill one or two the remaining turn and start running? Human nature can be amusing, sad, and something to start getting angry over! And in some rare cases feel respect towards the person who you just fought.

I havent spent a penny on the gem shop either but i plan to(just to help anet out, not coz i need to)

But yeah, its easy to make gold in this game… very easy, so you really dont need to buy gems <.<

My norn warrior, i probably dont reember all the different sets i used..
The ones i do remember is culture t3 helmet, t1 boots, pvp chest. The rest i dont remember but you can find it all on the trader :P

Here is my warrior and a thief i tend to play with. When i went to take the screenshots in a icy zone i was surprised to see how the red color of the armor got a lot fainter and so did the gold in my friends armor

Also iv’e made a decision that i wont use that helmet when i play till i feel i’m worthy of its epicness :P Learn the game first then look a kitten brute. If you dont you look kitten yet fall down disappointingly fast!

You can either do pvp mothly or the pve one, the reason you could get both last month was that if you had already done pve monthly before patch for some reason the game didnt realise you had done it when finishing the pvp monthly

I couldnt agree more, GW2 has the potential but its being squandered away.
If it doesnt pull up its socks ESO might knock it into the dust as another one of those games that tried to take down WOW but failed.

By looking at it’s ocean of dead servers, WoW is doing a fine job of that all by itself.

Let’s not bring up TSW PvP. I chose not to discuss that BECAUSE it’s so much of a joke. There are literally whole servers dominated by one faction (one guild in fact) because noone wants to play that gear-dependent, poorly-designed mess.

Better by a mile :P You can find them zergs if you want, but its just as easy to go to wvwvw and fight smaller scale… not once havent i been able to find smaller fights, and those are not dictated by gear nor do you have to suffer the amazingly kittenty stiff combat of TSW :P

Charr are pretty much ripped straight from the Tauren of WoW. And I’m pretty sure they are one of the more unpopular races in that game. Not sure why a developer would choose to make that a playable race. A better alternative would have been Ogres. Again, you want more people to play your game then give them cool races that they want to be. Who wants to be a cow?

Tauren and Charr are pretty much opposite of eachother… COMPLETE opposite..
The only thing they have in common is fur -.-

My thief friend constantly uses the pistol to create a field and blind her foes with shots and i sometimes use that same field to charge through and go to stealth as a warrior

Other than that i use fields when i see them in dungeons mostly, but i only play with one thief consistently so those are the fields i end up using most of the time in pvp.

I absolutelly love Charr, i think they are just great(and about the only race that doesnt seem overly goofy in gw2)
I hated the Asurans, till a friend of mine made one so cute i wanted to do nothing more than protect it day and night…..
I play a Norn, but thats because im a fan of nordic barbarian type.

I also like the idea of a world with only humans like a song of ice and fire or Conan the Barbarian, i dont find the races in GW2 bad at all, i like them more than any other MMO i have played so far tbh, i just would like alot less goofyness in the story and so far the new living story has kinda gotten that right, im hoping it stays that way

Even if it is not intended it adds skill to the game so you should fully support it. I dont much like theives but being able to do that is great, just like a Ele can teleport just before finishing their aoe to hit someone quite reliably.(even tho the ele thing is MUCH easier to pull off)

The dungeon i could stand to be here after the month..(even tho id rather see it go away and come back again in the future every april fools day) its very inventive and fun.. but i like to keep tyria ans tyria 8bit graphics and themes in open world seem a bit odd if they would stay here for a longer time. It would break immersion quiiite badly.

Im on a medium pop server and its never empty… i always find players.
Many tend to run to the bigger events in zone aswell so you could look for those.

Definatelly spend more time ingame xD i only look at forums at some moments when i need a break or get a chance to at work.

if you spend more time on the forums i think its time to just.. play something else : p
until a patch that makes the game fun for you comes along anyway

I agree with you OP. It seems to me like everyone just looks at themselfs and think everything just from the one point of view that is ‘’this is bad for me so it sucks’’ instead of the bigger picture. And i also find it disturbing how many seem to be blind to how huge this game is just because they keep repeating the same content over and over..

I only got a decent comp yet i can handle the culling settings on max no problem. Its fixed if you ask me, i even made a lil video showing it (and a fight or two as showing JUST mass ammount of people felt a bit strange)

In piken square penitent has been bugged for over a week now :V so shelters is not happening or the camp after that. It hurts… farming could be so relaxing sometimes

How good you are is really just how well you know your and enemy classes, what to do in each situation and reflexes that ofcourse play a huge part when it comes to dodging and hitting when you are supposed to. This is ofcourse for pvp.

In PvE its pretty much knowing the tactics for each boss and how to take them down, reflexes play a part there too but to a lower degree.

Gear, ammount of characters at 80 or achievement points dont show how good you are at anything… just the time you spent doing something ; p

This game is amazing and there is never a lack of things to do. You can find roles here just like in other MMOs and the strategies you speak off it just takes longer to figure out due to have different this MMO is.

His weapons look GREAT. Now those are what legendaries should look like! The idea of legendaries having their own effects are great, but i think they are too extreme to the point of over so if a big part of the pop ever gets them gw2 will look like a circus : p

Please consider making more calm but kitten looking legendaries in the future, so they would be worth getting
