If they removed losing pips then everyone, absolutely everyone would get to the top in time.
So no losing pips needs to be there, just like losing rating in arenas needs to be there.
I wont say anything cuz i said so much. Bu t i will say this. I don’t care! I don’t care there is no new maps. I don’t care there’s no balance. I don’t care that Anet & the dev don’t have there priority straight. I… just …don’t ….care.
cuz on the 19th, i’ll be pvp’ing on Blade & Soul.
Yeah and a few months after launch you will likely stop playing. You will find a reason, i am sure.
We got a new map, and the map is quite fun.
And people always cry how this game has only one boring game mode…
Arenanet reads the forums, and from all the complaints i think it is clear that the community wants open world to be easy and relaxed. I guess we shall see in a few major patches if they listen, i am sure they will release new zones entirely too with patches for hot.
Hardcore content should stay in raids/pvp
YES!
I have a friend who just recently joined as is pretty much only playing spvp and having fun. Start with unranked and once you think you have a good grasp on the game move to ranked
Make a premade of your own!
Hahahahaha
Now if there was a item on the gemshop called ‘’Keep warrior weak’’ and people bought it, then we could vote with our wallets by NOT buying that item XD
You need to be out of your mind to expect an expansion to be as big as the core game..
Guild wars 2 is the only game where people complain about a reasonably priced expansion, the only MMO i have ever seen where people compare an expansions size to the original game(news flash, the original game took MANY MORE YEARS TO MAKE)
This community is out of its frigging mind. Compared to other fully priced expansions in other games HOT is just fine, especially if you consider how many patches and more content we will get for the price we spent.
WOD has less content than HOT has for example and recieved only a few kittenty patches, now everyone is stuck there waiting for the next expansion.
YOU DID NOT ONLY PAY FOR THE NEW ZONES, YOU ALSO PAID FOR ALL THE PATCHES TO COME. New living world seasons, new zones. New raids and who knows what else.
The zerker meta is gone since zerker stats are no longer the ONLY stats being used.
Ofcourse the majority of people, who do dps will go full dps 99% of the time. It is like this in every MMO out there.
But now a tank is used, heals are used and so is condi dmg.
The timer NEEDS to be there, otherwise you can go full on tank spec and just slowly kill the boss while he is unable to even touch you -.-
It works fine for melee, just be sure to a lil bit tanky.
I never needed more than 1 other person to do any of the hero challenges. And all but one of the meta events are relatively easy and do not require a LOT of coordination.
The only really difficult event is in dangled depths, the rest are being done by completely random people as is.
Please do not whine them to make content that is already doable by randoms any easier, especially since all of these events will become even easier once people have all the masteries.
To anyone displeased that you do not actually fight a big dragon…
Play the dragons stand meta event, it is exactly that. I have a feeling the story ending would have been taken a lot better if players were forced to do that before the last mission.
The expansion zones and fights are superior to Tyria in every way possible.
And in the future, you might want to check out videos or streams to see a product before you buy it, much better than threads like this.
Get tankier gear or a spec that is easy to play or smth.
Stop trying to change a perfectly well balanced expansion because you rather complain and cry instead of looking to fix your issue yourself.
I want it to be what it is now.
There could be improvements ofcourse, better balance. Better story, and so forth.
But compared to other MMOs, this one is perfection.
It’s mindless that it stuns you too. There is zero point for it to do this when no other profession is penalized like this.
There’s plenty of point to it, and it works to our advantage since it makes rousing resilience worth taking.
Headbutt is one of the few things that the Berserker spec actually has going for it, it lets you land a full 100blades on an enemy not to mention the headbutt itself hits like a truck. 5k crits on mara amulet.
Also since it is a stun break you can turn a situation around on someone, plenty of times have i gotten cced only to break it with headbutt which also makes you immune to the stun of headbutt itself.
But yeah, to some specs like mine removing the self stun would actually be a nerf :P
(edited by Gathslan.1870)
They cut the cost in half, yet people are still crying.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha.
You really cannot please everyone can you.
I REALLY enjoy stronghold, there is a lot to do and it does not seem to support boring bunker builds one bit.
What? I would think a healing Necromancer would be the best thing in the game for that map or a Druid.
Yeah making one big push with heals tactic could ruin the map. But that can be fixed

Has HoT lost the scale of the elder dragons?

SPOILER ALERT
While i have not played the last zone much yet, i have seen several times said that in dragons reach the meta event is a fight against mordremoth.
Which makes sense to me, i would have found weird if we directly fought the whole dragon just the small group of ’’heroes’’ that we are. So i think you can experience the fight you want, just outside of the story instances themselves(and i plan on doing that in coming days)
Last story mission is VERY BUGGED [Spoilers]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

How did it bug out? Give any details? I just finished the story myself and did not experience any bugs.
Your own character tells you to take flight/pop immunities. I just blocked till i found a spot to fly at.
I think there is a excuse to die once to this boss, no more <.< He dealt almost no dmg(unless you stand infront of his aoes..) and nothing about it was badly designed if you ask me.
In PvP that is, yes Warrior is simple when it comes to mechanics, but Guild wars 2 class difficulty does not always come from that, or how many buttons you need to press(eles are often considered hard to play for this reason)
Warrior animations are where the skill comes in with this class, a good warrior knows when you can hit those longer wind up abilities, when an enemy is out of dodges/defence cooldows and when it take a risk. Since most of our important abilities have lenghty animations and tells.
Many classes have really easy dmg application due to their fast animations despite being more mechanically complex. Burn guard, trap ranger, power necro(easy to hit auto attack spam for most dmg?) and there are more. All of those i find a lot easier to play just for how easy it is to apply your dmg.
Hell, i have had new people join the game that could not play warrior in pvp and instead chose burn guardian because it was easier. Complaining how they could not land their important abilities as a warrior.
And the point of this thread is simply to voice my opinion since i am seeing a lot of posts about how warrior is so noob friendly(in pve yeah, warrior is easy sure) and how the class has no skill or depth to it.
A guild with 2 people in it is not a guild. Really.
If you want a guild hall try asking people in major cities or something to help you out.
And this is from someone who has played this game for 2+ years with a 4man guild.
Autoloot and the rest will come as you play normaly. Pretty much anything you do in gw2 gives xp.
Sooo grind if you want to, you don’t have to. Sure it will not come instantly, but you will max out in time.
Im not sure how many i unlocked, but i maxed out on my elite spec this morning. I only really needed gliding+mushroom jumping to max out. You only need more than that if your character is a fresh lv80 and has no core tyria hero points at all.
Anyone who is having a hard time i would suggest visiting dufly, she has posted guides for the first two zones!
You do not have to grind to experience the content,
There are hundreds of events out there
SELF INFLICTED GRIND.
What are you talking about? You do have to grind events. It doesn’t matter if there are 3 or 300 events. You have to grind them. It’s an unnecessary amount of grinding. Especially for a game that claims to not be focused on grinding.
It’s not rocket science. Up the experience amount, reduce the unnecessary grinding time, everything else falls in place. I rather use skill, not extra time to earn advancement.
How is doing unique events a grind? A grind means you are repeating the same thing over and over, killing the same mob over and over.
Doing countless unique events with different storylines, different bosses and challenges is not a grind. It is doing content in a game that you are supposed to play exactly for that, content.
You are playing the game, you are not grinding by doing events. By your definition anything but standing in LA is a grind.
(edited by Gathslan.1870)
There are a LOT of events, do not stick around only in the first zone. If you find yourself repeating events, move onto somewhere else in the zone or a different zone entirely.
Also always keep an eye open on the big map for unlocked adventures! Adventures give pretty good XP and are a LOT of fun.
So stop grinding, it is self inflicted. Play the game, play different events and do adventures.
Also if you have hero points from from the old zones, you do not even need to get any of the difficult masteries to unlock your elite spec. I got mine within 2 days and all i needed was gliding, updraft gliding and mushroom jumping.
You do not have to grind to experience the content, especially now that poison resistance is not really needed.
There are hundreds of events out there, 4 different zones.
PLAY THE GAME, if you are doing 3 events over and over that is YOUR problem and SELF INFLICTED GRIND.
Stop grinding and play the kitten game.
I’ll rate it 7/10.
I admit, I like the challenge in the new regions. The Pale Reavers event chain in Verdant Brink was pretty interesting. Exploring & gliding across the jungle is great. The music & art is fantastic. HOWEVER, most complaints about hero points & masteries are correct & I agree. You cannot restrict people like that! ESPECIALLY in the story! To grind like a madman just to learn to jump on a mushroom to advance in your quest is unacceptable! NOT a good idea. It’s telling that devs took action right away on that.
The hero points & masteries requirements need to be cut down some notches.
Grind like a madman? For 30minutes to unlock jumping on mushrooms? Since when is playing the game grinding? <.<
There are hundreds of events, to complete the story you do not even need to do 5% of the events available to you. And you call that grinding like a madman?
Virtually every complaint I have read regarding elite spec cost of 400 pts is complaining about the steepness of it and the need for it to be reduced, NOT ELIMINATED but reduced so that people can obtain then in reasonable time (especially those of us, and there are many, who dont PVE)
The expansion came out three days ago. You still have enough time to collect your hero points within reasonable time.
so you think a year or 2 is reasonable time to unlock a specialisation on a dozen characters?
nvm, my bad
9/10
My only complaint really are the mastery required to unlock elite specs. And it is not really even my complaint. Just the friend i play with obsessed over it until we got the elite specs unlocked.
Just give the kitten spec to people for free so they will shut the kitten up about it.
Gw2s core gameplay was braindead, where you could auto attack your enemies to death without having to ever learn your classes basics even.
Hot is a ton more fun, and still not very hard. The only groups i see being needed are some meta events and a few hero points.
That being said i do see a lot of players dying, and i am fine with the idea of tuning down the content(to hopefully not quite as braindead as the base game.. i want to do more than just auto attack ) so open world is at least fine for the lower skill players.
But the sheer lazyness and inability to play that is rampant in gw2 is due to how easy content has been in general. I wonder if so much whining would be happening if people actually knew how to play, even a little bit.
(edited by Gathslan.1870)
I think the expac would have been fine if people could unlock their elite specs a lot easier.
That is what everyone seems to obsess about. Honestly everything else is downright amazing, the map design is pretty mindblowing and the zones are more beautiful than in any MMO i have ever played.
And grindy? The kitten, when there are more events than you can count, each map has a ton of them. Don’t keep doing the same event a hundred times. Problem solved. Masteries were not meant to be unlocked in a few days anyway.

Playing the game is not a grind, you are not repeating a process again and again, there is thought put into the content.
What do you want, to just afk in lions arch or what?
You get on a public forum and call him toxic and then blame THEM for causing drama and being aggressive?
+1
This really has nothing to do with Guild Wars 2 particularly. It’s misleading to state or think it does.
Just some kind of drama between you and another. It could have happened anywhere, and the fact that you bring the drama to the forums says something. In my opinion, of course.
+1
This type of toxicity needs to be addressed???
You and he are not friends. He doesn’t like you anymore and he doesn’t want to talk to you. Instead of respecting that, you post the conversation on the forum and call him toxic, insulting him for not being delighted to see you.
From this thread I would say he is correct in not wanting a conversation.

Zerker was never supposed to go away completely, i have no idea why people think that it ever was.
What was broken about gw2 was that only power dmg, only zerker stats mattered in pve. Now conditions are important too, and so is healing, and some tanking. Not to mention the importance of cc too.
Zerker meta is over, people can play different specs and have different roles.
Ofcourse damage dealers will keep on dealing damage with the most damage heavy stats.
WTF PEOPLE
The difference is, the other stat combos were possible to get played even if they were not ideal or optimal. If you wanted to play clerics in dungeons, sure you could, it would just take longer. Same goes for condition damage.
The new meta will not allow for such freedom. It will require condition damage, direct damage and healing on certain classes. This has nothing to do with optimal or suboptimal any more, it’s just required now.
See how that is more restiricting?
Hard fights will always require a certain amount of dps, healing, and so forth. So no it is not restricting, it is how hard fights are made.
A raid cannot be hard while at the same time allowing people to run stat combinations and specs that they pulled out of their kitten while blindfolded no less. And just because you CAN run something, does not mean people WILL.
Sure you can do dungeons in the most stupid specs out there, and that is why they are so stupidly easy, and raids cannot be that. And even so, 90% of people run with zerker so they can clear that easy content as fast as possible.
Hard= requires something from you, be that damage, group support or the capability to CC/tank
So not restrictive, just challenging content.

The biggest problem i see is that Berserker is unable to replace Strength or Defense.
We either loose a lot of dmg, or a lot of survivability. And the new bursts do not change or improve our class enough to be worth the loss of dmg/survivability.
And one of the few ways i could see that ever being fixed before launch is if they add significant buffs to berserker mode itself, give us for those 15 seconds berserk is on(or reduce the time, 10seconds perhaps) a way to survive. That way we could change defense for something else, or maybe even a stance or two for something more offensive.
While i am not sure what the best way to buff our sustain would be while in Berserker, there are many ways to go about it. And preferably one where there will be counterplay.
Maybe we healed for a % of dmg we do while in Berserk mode, maybe whatever adrenaline we use heals us for a nice flat amount. Something like that. Warrior has always had horrible sustain and we have been forced to take as many immunities as we can because of it.
This is a chance to change that! Make the Berserker what it was supposed to be, a relentless too dumb to die beast of war.
Now about the rage abilities.. i have no idea what you can do to fix those, they are just as bad as physical abilities are, and i do not see how to fix them would be possible without changing them all together…
that being said Wild Blow is fun to use, but will never work as utility. Would have worked as some kind of weapon ability instead. I am sad such a interesting ability will go to waste : I
I feel like the opposite, i ran into a few spvp matches where everyone was cele or something. Literally no one died in the entire match and i had top dmg at the end of the match <.<
If the game launches as it is now(which it wont) i think the survival focused meta in spvp would only grow worse, much worse.
The combat is amazing, just takes a really long time to get used to.
When i started playing the combat felt easy, shallow and very spammy, but the better you get the more you understand just how deep the combat is, and how badly you will get destroyed if you use your abilities at the wrong time.
Check out some thief videos online, you will see just how gankable your class is… Stealth in gw2 is a bit over the top. Used to be a lot worse though.
But yeah, the more you learn about your class, enemy classes. And the game, the better the combat gets.
OH NO MY BROKEN ABILITY WAS FIXED, OH NO!
AND THE DEV THAT DELIVERED THE NEWS ACTED LIKE AN ASSHOLRE ABOUT IT QQ kitten Q.
I love that developer, he did a good job. Memorable moment in the stream for sure.
Oh god theories about arenanet punishing individual players now.
ARE PLAYERS GOING INSANE IN THIS FORUM OR WHAT!?! XD
haven’t heard anything from anet about whether or not we’d be getting new character customization options with HoT (hairstyles, faces, ears, horns, etc). maybe it’s just something they feel they don’t need to announce? or are we not even gonna get anything new in that regard?
also, i wonder if they’ll ever make any of the hairstyles in the kits baseline? i personally doubt it, but it would be pretty cool if they did. don’t know if that would make some players salty, tho… *shrugs
Since they have given us new hairstyles( i want more beardstyles personally.. there is no middle between full on beard and nothing on human males) with normal patches from to time, even if we do not get ones at the release of the expac i am sure we will see new hairstyles sooner or later.
The complaints in this thread are funny as hell xD
I want to see armor sets in the actual game, so i am fine with them focusing on outfits on the store and armors ingame.

Thoughts of a graphic upgrade in the future?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Gathslan.1870
I do not think gw2 needs a graphical update really any time soon. The art style is so beautiful that it will keep the game pretty for many years to come.
That would be way too strong <.<
Because mace+shield is a single target weapon. And that coupled with gs means the weapon sets do any noticeable damage only when you get to CC someone(So you can burst with hundred blades) So you have to hit mace f1, if you miss it… not much dmg you can do until it is up again.
Hammer has a lot of aoe effects, and as such is better for group combat. And has more abilities than can be chained into damage with greatsword(hammer alone does pretty good dps too, unlike mace)
