Also, will the legendary back piece have different colors? Who wants a fractal backpiece that doesn’t match your fractal weapons!
I’m shocked there’s no freak-out about trade-able fractal rewards, Considering how vague the report was, there’s no telling how this could go.
What’s the point of prestigious loot if you can just buy it? There’s a reason everyone pushed towards account bound legendaries, because any fool being able to buy a legend makes the whole system flawed.
I’m assuming weapons will never be able to be sold, though stranger things have happened, but how prestigious is your earned Mini Mew when some F-lvl 0 guy is running around with the same thing?
Players want to profit from FOTM runs without cheapening the reward system.
At the end of every fractal, you’ll find a lockbox in the final chest called a fractal encryption. These encryptions may give you a new Mini Professor Mew, new ascended aquatic-breather recipes, high-level crafting materials, or many other rewards. … you’ll be able to trade fractal encryptions with your fellow Tyrians. This new system will give you more choices over how you want to obtain the rewards you want for your fractal runs.
“WTS legendary FOTM backpiece — PST”
(exaggeration)
Needing to put AR on our infusions really limits the coolness of having infusions possible.
I’d like to see all those new Agony infusion drops used as a crafting material and infusion slots opened up for player stats. Couple this with FOTM mastery giving an innate resistance to the account.
Not likely, but we can hope.
I don’t think solo instanced stuff is any where near our horizon, even though I wish it was a bigger part of the game and I loved the Queen’s Gauntlet. Way to much carrying going on in Carry Wars2.
However, I think ANet’s way of handling it will be content that requires all 5 players to specific tasks at the same time. Probably more dredge-button type content. Will that a core part of FOTM? Maybe, maybe not. I do hope so.
F50 did keep a lot of bad people away for quite a while. I’m hoping that 51+ has a definite skill curve. F lvl 100 should be earned and it should mean something.
We need to start some noise and at least get some primary color options on the table.
I’m shocked more people aren’t hitting this thread. The entire purpose of fractals is to get weapon skins to make yourself look awesome..
Level 80 is the max for characters.
haha
Make it like SAB, white, green, yellow, (orange), (red/purple)
xD
The randomness was not part of the fun to anyone that did fractals regularly.
Just because you hate it, does not mean everyone else hates it.
No, he’s right.
We’ve all read the post and I’m sure you’ve all seen the golden skin in the pic.
Is gold the only option for these new skins? Will we have a color selection for our new “prestigious” reward? Electric blue fractal skins, anyone?
If our only option is a gold re-skinning of the current skins, that’s not very innovative at all and rather disappointing. No one is really excited about re-skinned old content.
However, a color selection would really show off not only our accomplishment, but also express our individuality. This is Glam Wars 2, after all.
I don’t know about you, but nothing I have really goes well with gold.
Who cares how much damage they add to mobs. Everything one-shots you anyways.
Dodge, block, reflect, invuln, blind
Will reflect still defend you, at least, from projectiles?
Ventari Revenants will be rolling in their graves at this… and, yes, in the grave if reflecting gets gutted.
I don’t understand the change to the daily farm, mainly because daily applies to two things: the daily chest you get for killing the final boss (maw, mai, duo) and the daily chest you get attached to achievement points (AP).
When they say they’re changing the daily, it sounds like the AP daily is changing and not the daily boss chest.
What I’m trying to get at is: what is the farm going to be? IE, now I farm 50 40 30 and 20 if I have time. What will we farm in the future? 100 90 80 etc or some daily attached to AP that changes every day?
Also, they said we can trade and sell chests now? What the kitten? That defeats the entire purpose of farming exclusives.
<— still a buyer :P From time to time
I’ve gotten 3 precursor drops (zap, dawn, lover) before I’ve gotten my last kitten fotm skin (focus)
qq!
Druid will be a shape shifter. There will be no pet. It has been foretold!
Here are my guesses
Druid = no pet. The F skills (F1,F2,F3..) will be shape changes similar to norn elites, but hopefully better.
Cat – burst / dps
Bear – tanky
Tree spirit thing – support
Spider or snake – condi
Shape shifting may just be a visual change and boon(s) (ie damage boost for cat, tank boost for bear, etc).
Staff will be support and some sort okittenward mid range weapon.
They could merge Ferocious Strikes and Rapid Lacerations which are basically 2 traits for similar requirements. One requires a sword, the other requires dual wielding—which you’re already doing if you have at least one sword.
Fast attacks is a class defining mechanic and shouldn’t be written off so ..rapidly.
I say merge them into Ferocious Lacerations or Rapid Strikes
.
Major Adept Ferocious Lacerations / Rapid Strikes (attacking with sword gives a stacking 2% skill speed increase and 30 ferocity, max 10% skill speed and 150 ferocity)
With the recent changes, almost all classes with multiple traits for the same thing ie Manipulations or Sword either had one element made baseline (ie cool down reductions) or both merge into a single trait. Why add multiple traits for the same/similar things now?
This proposal fits the new trend and the intended direction of Shiro, a fast attacking assassin that builds up power over time to quickly finish enemies.
they just need to make Jalis elite give invuln and we’re pretty good off
Hope you all enjoy never running Rapid Lacerations.
Turn me into a rampaging dragon please
After the patch, how much damage is 150 ferocity on a zerker stat character with maxed crit chance via traits?
Devastation (new) trait line:
Major Adept trait Assassin’s Presence (150 ferocity party buff)
Major Master trait Ferocious Strikes (150 ferocity personal buff)
Masters are supposed to be stronger than Adept traits. I think think anyone would argue that 150 ferocity for yourself is better than 150 ferocity for everyone in your party.
Also, parties will demand the party buff—and rightfully so. But this currently forces us to choose between the party buff and a major class defining ability in Rapid Lacerations.
Major Adept trait Rapid Lacerations (attacking with sword gives a stacking 2% skill speed increase, max 10%)
Swapping AP and FS fixes both issues. We can support our team and still be the fast attacking assassin that defines the Shiro style at the cost of 150 personal ferocity. This is critical for class style as well as the mechanics we’ll need to be desirable in PvE/PvP/WvW.
- Anyone know off hand the math of:
- 150 ferocity -> damage?
- 10% skill speed -> damage?
I love any and all beta access I can get. It was probably the main reason I picked up ultimate, but good things take time.
..but you all sound like the kind of people who order a well done steak and kitten that it’s taking too long.
If you want it done, let it cook.
You’ll be the first people to kitten if it’s under cooked and send it back too.
Just quit kittening and be happy that we’re lucky enough to have a company be extremely transparent with giving us any information at all. What other games give you this much info and access for a new release? They’re taking a large amount of risk and a lot of what they get back is nothing but people kittening and moaning on the forums.
We have a great game and developing great games take time. If you disagree about the first part, you’d be kittening on some other game’s forums and now here, enjoying GW2.
I agree with a lot of the stuff being thrown down here. I definitely wouldn’t say the class is finished, but we’re in a good direction.
I really hope we add at least aoe fury to our support. It would fill a gap in some groups (IE your ele(s) can’t keep it up with blasts, or your war would rather run str/disc/prec signet) and we have immense synergies with it.
Fury + ferocity trait + reflects as needed + vuln + high personal dps + flavor
It’s looking pretty good. And with a swap we can pump all the fire fields we’d ever want + many blasts. Not that might was much of an issue.
I’d like to see tablet movement not put every kitten still on a global cooldown.
I’d also like to see come cooldowns removed to we can better manage energy.
And energy management traits and reductions.
Obviously balance is in the works, ie some skills too weak compared to their high energy costs (ie all of the elites).
I hope Shiro mobility is all we hope it will be.
And of course Rev drops with HOT which means we still have an unseen elite spec awaiting. (Glint!?)
Discuss. It now looks like some good flavor and could fit in with a meta-minded group.
Rev still needs swiftness/mobility, aaand AOE fury would sure be nice to provide some group support that many lack.
Guardian here. Glad to see another class with mobility as bad as us. Welcome brothers. Also please don’t ever say we have more swiftness options than you. Seriously. Thank you.
Retreat – swiftness shout
Save Yourselves – swiftness shout
Staff – swiftness aoe
GS – leap on a short cd
JI – instant teleport-to-tgt 1200 range
Sword – shadowstep-esque teleport-to-tgt
What the hell are you talking about?
I actually like that stuff isn’t always in the gem store. We tend to take stuff for granted if it’s always available. I look forward to seeing what changes they make to the offerings.
That’s all good and fine when new stuff is hitting the gemstore with frequency. We get an outfit every month or so at best.
As for sales, putting everything up at x3 makes everything up at x1 price “on sale”.
Tonic, 21 spares in the bank (not including the skins I’ve used just to save a transmute), and still no fractal focus.. 18/19 qq
On the other hand, all my guys are geared it in ascended from all the chests i saved.
I think the next time they update fotm, you’ll be able to buy a skin of choice with 250 pristine and you can sell rings to an NPC for 1 pristine each.
Almost everyone’s felt the burn of missing a gemstore item and the grueling wait to see if it ever hits the market again. What if…
Everything is available always! Put everything back on the TP at x2 at x3 gem cost and just put whatever is being currently pushed ‘on sale’ at the intended price.
I assume items are removed to increase interest and make certain items exclusive, but this just leaves many players feeling burnt if they can’t hit the TP daily. Anet would likely increase sale of gems from the change as impatient players can splurge as needed.
Everyone wins. Even me, stilling waiting for months and months..
Still chasing that last weapon skin…! Hit me up in game.
Anyone else feel Tornado is very weak compared to all the other recent elite buffs and changes? It shouldn’t be the next Rampage or Lich, but no one gets concerned when they see a Tornado pop up, unless it’s skyhammer. The ele is defenseless and gets wrecked.
Maybe have the blinds work like a blind field? Maybe increase the stats, protection, etc.
Ele elites are so poor in general, most just use FGS for mobility and a little big of its damage.
What if…. you transferred to a WvW server?
It has been a while now and let’s look at what happened after the change.
The death of WvW tank trains is the main thing I’d like to point out. Before the change, boon stripping was effective and trains had counters. Ranged and melee IMO had a balance. Tanks leap in for the tank bomb. Range use positioning and boon strips to deal with it.
Now in WvW, unless there is a very organized group with at least 2 coordinated guardians per party, tank trains are a thing of the past. Groups push and pull with a death zone between like two pirate ships circling and firing away. Often times, even an organized tank train has no chance to make it through the range-chase.
Fights more often than not end in one side simply disengaging.
Is this the kind of WvW we want?
I play ranged, I play melee. These fights are very lack luster if you’re not playing your scumbag ranger alt.
I was wondering what the hell was going on. Thanks for pointing this out.
Mesmer is worse now than engi nade bug EVER was. At least with the nades you had to aim and throw em. Any mesmer can blink in and rattle off some instant shatters, all the time spamming daze. There’s little more to it than that.
I love my mesmer. Out of my 8, it’s my favorite, but if you’re playing mesmer right now, you’re just cashing in on free wins on a broken class. There’s a reason every team has 2 mesmers right now.
Don’t know how they’ll nerf it in PvP without hurting it in PvE, but the nerf is coming and it’s going to hurt.

You can change your dialogue in options to whatever language you speak.
I’m saying, they want players to invest in the lore, all they have to do is have it play along side the action.
A huge criticism of GW2 in it’s current state is the chaos of particle effects in all game modes. It’s often confusing for veterans and of course new potential players.
Right now, the speed of encounters aside, fights are a collage of AOE effects that often encompass the target. If a boss isn’t massive, it’s next to impossible to see vital telegraphs and dodge for skilled play. This is one main reason why sub-elite players and groups opt to range targets down.
Guardian blue flame burn and a few mesmer clones and good luck dodging the bouncing projectile from Mossman or anything the Archdiviner (cliffside) throws at you.
The Revenant’s particle effects mostly effect the terrain and keep the target visible. This lessens the visual strain and makes content SO MUCH more playable. I hope that all future particle effects will follow suit and all old particle effects will be revamped in such a way. This is currently my favorite thing about the Revenant.
I agree with 99% of OP’s posts. Maybe not adding a bunch of stuns, but the rest is spot on.
Anyways, OP hit the specifics and we could say a little bit more about the current traits, I’d like to add a few general thoughts.
Weapon swap is a big concept. Mainly because you have to pick ranged OR melee and that’s a huge issue. If you pick melee you can and will get kited forever. If you pick ranged so you don’t get kited, you lack a lot of utility and damage as melee>range DPS.
Adding the swap opens up mace fire + blast + hammer blasting. Yes the attacks are too slow to land it all, and the fire field is too short, but I’m also thinking those two things will be addressed like OP suggested.
Rev mobility is horrible. I never thought there could be a class with worse mobility than the necro and here he is. The leap (demon9 unyielding anguish) cripple has to go to give us any hops of disengaging or catching a target and swiftness needs to be a thing. Our attacks are too slow to blast our lightning field (dwarf7 stability road) and the field itself spills out slower than walking pace. While the effect looks great, possibly make the AOE tick before the visual has hit the field so we can blast moving forward.
Weapon swap, damage (awaiting the missing traits and legend), and mobility. …And remove energy costs from weapon skills. We don’t have to be the best at any one of those, but we need to have some of all of those.
It’s fun right now, but not functional right now.
Honestly, I think this beta was more about funzies and giving some love to the ultimate buyers more than testing any new content seeing as not much has been added to the Rev since the first beta. And as far as this beta, I don’t see why you can’t earn rewards on a beta character if you’re playing in the live server. It’s a large deterrent to testing PvE when you don’t keep the source of the incentive to do the PvE. ..And why can’t I rep guild?
Will HOT have cut scenes for any reason? Cut scenes usually occur in dungeons and story instances and they create a few issues.
For a skippable cut scene, you make the player choose between the lore and “gogogogogo nownownownow” and often times, gogogo wins because players like myself don’t want to hold up our teammates or even ourselves.
I’m a Dungeon Master and almost done with Dungeoneer, but I’ve never seen any of the cut scenes. I want the lore, but you can read the reasons above why I skip.
What’s the fix? Make all the lore and story be part of the action. Don’t stop my progression to hear some NPCs talk. Let them talk over the audio while my team is moving a long. GW2 is fast-paced action. Why would you slow us down?
Secondly, NPCs suck. They bug so often (AC Detha, FOTM experimental weapon, etc), that it must be a bit of a nightmare to code them. And worst of all, they’re slow. They’re so slow teams spam swiftness on them just to get them to trigger the next objective. They bottleneck the action and introduce problems. What’s the point of bringing along some NPC when they die in 2 hits every single fight, aggro monsters early, or add defiant on bosses in important fights (Braham).
(There’s a part of me that just bought ultimate edition just to see Braham’s mother die in HOT for all the times he’s knocked back the Molten Berserker in a PuG run. Real talk.)
One huge no-weapon-swap issue is that if you pick melee, you’re stuck with melee. If you pick ranged—ditto.
Melee is great, but when you’re too slow to catch anything, you kinda need to swap to ranged.
After 8 hours or so on the rev.. maybe PvP and WvW (big and small fights)
Ventari only feels playable when you trait heals with gear. So when you’re wearing support gear so support okay, but if you swap legends, it’s weak. However, as a bunker, my sustain was surprisingly low. I expected more out of salvation and staff.
As condi, I could max condi stats and still do crap condi damage any way I hacked it. On paper you look like you can pump out the torment, but I never got it cooking.
As zerk, the damage was as poor as everyone says.
As melee, the mobility is so poor, I could never catch anyone and would run out of energy often. My leap cripples me? Really…
I had fun and I have high hopes. They’ll make it work, but it will look a lot different than it does now.
Using xmutes on rev has no impact on your normal account and characters.
I can’t say I disagree.
I’m positive about HOT and everything and give Anet the benefit of the doubt 9 times out of 10, but Rev needs some more work.
Honestly, I think the only point of this beta was to give us ultimate buyers some fun more than anything. The Rev is still complete as far as legends and traits, so why are we evaluating it?
I did have fun, though.
free kill
skjdflskjdflkds
I don’t see why so many people liked it. Maybe human female version is gimp?
I wish they’d explain why this is the case. I understand not giving us the revenant items as loot, so just make them soulbound and not able to be MF/salvaged.
It’s a big deterrent to playing your rev in PvE when you don’t keep loot.
This is much needed.
Why can I put stuff in my bank if I’m not able to keep it?
good points.
also, weapon skills should not cost energy and have cooldowns
dps feels week but i think the trait line we’re missing is the dps line and the dps legend as well. we have a healer, a tank, condi, and no dps legend.
I agree to pretty much all of this.
