or bad if I could at least SEE what was going on around me. But with all the stuff going on, and the high numbers of people and enemy mobs, nothing actually ever loads. No character models, no enemy models, not even attacks. Combine that with the high lag, and there’s no way to “avoid the fire” and other such fun things because you never see it coming, and then you’re dead by the time it hits.
I want to like this event, I really do. But there’s too much going on in too small a space and it makes it essentially unplayable.
The worst part is, I don’t know what could be done to fix this.
Because it couldn’t possibly be that maybe, just maybe, people wanted the reactor?
Abbadon lost. That’s all there is to it.
Good job derailing the thread in the first post.
If everything else was out of the picture I wanted the Abbadon Fractal. I didn’t play GW1 and even though the Abbadon event apparently happened 1079 yearsbefore GW1 I still want to know about it a bit more.
What is there to derail? This thread wouldn’t exist if Abbadon hadn’t lost. It’s just another person who feels cheated because Abbadon wasn’t the assured victory that people were so convinced it would be. They can’t accept the loss of Abbadon, so it MUST be that people actually want Abbaon, because the reactor is a dumb smelly asuran reactor explosion.
And frankly, let’s say the survey is made. What happens if Kiel still won? You think that would be accepted? It wouldn’t. Because the only acceptable answer is that Abbadon wins.
That’s the only reason they want a survey. Because they can’t accept the results.

What’s funny is that if Evon had won, all the Evon supporters would be telling the people who wanted the Reactor Fractal to “suck it up” because “even if it was 52%, Evon won, and that’s that.”
Irrelevant. Those people saying ‘Evon won and that’s that’ would be in the wrong in this scenario.
If Evon had won by such a small margin, it would have been equally acceptable to say ANet should make Thaumanova as well. The issue here isn’t which candidate won. The issue is that the player base is split right down the middle and catering to one half but not the other is an awful decision.
Except it’s not irrelevant at all.
Where were all these posts about what’s fair before Abbadon lost? Before hand, even when it was known that only one would be made, it was nothing but: “OH MAN, WE WANT ABBADON, MAKE ABBADON, EVON NEEDS TO WIN FOR ABBADON. WHO CARES ABOUT SMELLY ASURAN REACTOR EXPLOSION 5674737, MAKE ABBADON, FORGET THE REACTOR”
But now, Abbadon has lost. And suddenly, only choosing one fractal is unfair.
Why wasn’t it unfair from the beginning? Where was all this sentiment the first time the polling stats were revealed? It’s only because Abbadon lost that this is suddenly wrong and an outrage.
I like it’s only now that Abbadon won’t be a thing that people are suddenly going on about how it’s not fair that only one fractal is getting made. Where was all this sentiment back when it was so assured that the Reactor wasn’t getting made? I seem to recall it being nothing but “who wants a smelly asuran reactor”.
Oh, but now being fair and making both matters.
Pft.

Cry some more! /Demoman
Ohohohoho, this is delicious.
YES.
YES.
We will get Asuran experiment gone wrong #3 943 113 913 instead of the sealing of the god behind everything in Guild Wars 1 .
And you’re the reason I voted Kiel =D
Abaddon is Captain Harkness. One day…. He’ll return.
Lies, lies and slander D=<
I dislike Kiel, but I dislike even more how people are brushing aside the reactor fractal before even truly knowing anything about it.
So basically, I’m voting Kiel to stick it to all the Abbadon voters. Sorry guys, but I’ve already seen Abbadon die. Captain Jack Harkness did him in real good.
Personally, I have only witnessed people “demanding” that frequent winners leave 10 times out of 450 races that I’ve participated in.
My personal opinion is that after you have the title, you should at least step back every now and again, if not all the time, because nothing is actually at stake. Seriously, people; the rewards are not actually better by any substantial degree. It’s a difference of 2 silver and 300 karma.
I personally step back a majority of the time. But I think I have a very different view of these kinds of games.
For one, I don’t view Sanctum Sprint as a “game of skill”, so I just generally disagree with the people who like to spout “it’s an achievement, so earn it!”. I’m sorry, but this is not a game of skill, if for no other reason than this: You can jump from 7th to 1st in an instant because of Light Travel. Where is the skill in that? Or setting up those fake power-ups. You didn’t beat your rival because you were faster. You tripped them.
At the end of the day, it’s a game within a game. And in the case of this game, it’s time limited and skill can’t be a true determining factor because there are outside stimuli, namely computer quality issues.
Does that mean people should be allowed to demand and throw insults? No, of course not. But then again, I can’t say I blame them when I’ve been in first place, stepped to the side near the finish line to allow someone who lacks the title to get it, and had someone with the title take first instead. Sorry, but, I didn’t stop for you. At least have the courtesy to respect what I’m doing and also step aside in that instance if you want me to respect your ability to take first a million times, seeing as in that instance you weren’t in first. /end rambling rant
Edit: Oh, just cause I feel like making a small jab. You wanna prove your “skill” in Sanctum Sprint? Win the race with only the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 skills. Win because you were faster.

Gonna go super geek mode, here, but does anyone happen to have a sheet for the MMPR Green Ranger Dragon Flute songs?
