I think the point was more this:

Several Quebec guilds are already on VS

Probably the bleed on crit trait with high crit %, while i do have that too, i probably don’t have high enough condition damage to make it really noticable.
I do stack bleeds, but my damage really comes more from hitting hard and fast, and crippling them so they can’t escape the damage.
I tend to stick to my guild group and try to avoid 1on1 fights, i’m glass cannon geared and my weapon/skill setup isn’t really for fights like that :/
(Though i did kill a thief once…. Think he wasn’t 80 though, he went down a bit too easy, though i got downed too and took him down with my pet healing me)
IF your guess is correct, then it’s probably because the servers are labeled EU isnead of global.
Ranger! People seriously underestimate the range of a traited longbow Ranger and it’s funny to give them a taste of what we’re like and see them run.
Also: Rangers do hit like trucks, Rapid Fire takes people down in a heartbeat. Do that with Piercing Arrow (which apparently doesn’t have a target limit?) and Quickness and see the numbers and corpses
I’m also currently slowly leveling a Guardian to use in WvW, I love their wall/bubble mechanics and see them used very well in my guild in ways I don’t see that often with the enemy and I would love to be part of.
So they’re trying to get people do to their dungeons, and then go ahead and attach the entrance to a huge event which is bugged all over the place?
Not going to work well… Havent been able to do Arah for some time, im 120 badges away from my chest and i would like to ahve it before my legendary…
Blacktide as a whole is different from FSP, no offense to FSP and their players, since we did really have an enjoyable matchup. Blacktide is not Far Shiverpeaks, despite welcoming some of their guilds
Basically, Xaoc start playing in the morning. Their morning.
Thats, what…? 4-5 am CET?
Disorder League, as far as i’ve seen, plays more during their primetime.
Also, I’ve just been informed that they won during the 1day matchups.
While that’s very admirable, i feel they’re not exactly comparable to the current type of matchups.
For one, those were early days and there was much less to complain about because everybody was “omgGW2/swoon”. On top of that, the shorter matchups didn’t show the timezone/nightcapping/etc. problems everybody is talking about now.
Gunnar’s Hold (my previous server) ended up on the 6th place due to those 1day matchups. That was not where we belonged for longer matchups, though if the 1day matchups had kept going, we might’ve ended up close to the top.
Just a different type of game.
@ Weris:
As far as im aware, the match against us was RUIN’s first EU match.
We were 10k behind in score, and then they rallied their server, and did a great job getting pretty far ahead again.
Blacktide at the moment is a monster, with the Russian coalitions (Xaoc and Disorder League) and some extremely strong EU primetime guilds.
I look forward to meeting any server, and i expect we’ll get told we’re only winning because of nightcapping and/or because we “stole” FSP’s Russians/bandwagoning.
Also, accusations of having Americans, of course.
If Desolation hadn’t gotten RUIN, Blacktide would be server people complained about, and those people saying nightcapping is fine if it’s done by EU people would be conspiciously absent. (Or, claiming we have Americans.)
Desolation worked hard to be where they are now, they’re not jsut there because of RUIN and it would be nice if people respected that.
False, Desolation is always the worst server in top EU ladder. FS ( Nugos and Green Fire ) was the best but lose against our 30 peoples nightcapping when there was in top ladder.
If you really have no US guild on BT you will come to complain with us next week. GMT+4 is the worst GMT against GMT -5/-6, you can not imagine what we have to do to win last week.
We played against Desolation.
We nearly beat them, they ended up winning because they rallied their daytime to stop us from taking over after they’d gotten a lead in weekend when the new Blacktide EU primetime guilds were transfering still/getting settled.
It was a good match
I’m getting tired of repeating myself here:
Blacktide has no American guilds, we simply have Russians playing in their morning. We would like some Americans though, simply to fill up the few hours gap we do have.
PvE servers are apparently located in Frankfurt, Germany, for the EU servers, while WvW servers are located in Austin, Texas.
Desolation worked hard to be where they are now, they’re not jsut there because of RUIN and it would be nice if people respected that.
ANet made a mistake in separating regions and having localised servers. If people want to play with people speaking thier own language, it’s not that hard to find communities and join them. They shouldn’t ahve put in a 24/7 war mechanic and then split up timezones.
While the solution isn’t as easy as many people suggest (“merge the ladders”), there aren’t nearly as many people complaining about it as is implied here. I’m seeing tons of threads which focus on good fights, praising each other, etc etc.
One of the few places where that isn’t happening is EU Tier1, and I’m getting the impression RUIN is just a convenient excuse to attack the new kids on the block…
After jumping around walls was done to us, somebody reported it.
They got the answer that while it was certainly not intended and would be looked into, getting around walls through legit jumping was not considered an exploit.
(This particular wall was outer watergate of Garrison)
I still feel it’s dodgy and won’t do it, or take part of it, though.
Actually, what i implied was the exact problem people are having with other timezones and i was adressing the whole “They will balance each other” thing – it’s not going to happen for us.
Blacktide has an extremely large Russian population, especially now the FSP Russians have joined us.
I don’t think there is a Russian population on another server large enough to “balance” us, though i do know there are smaller Russian communities spread all over.
This allows Blacktide to dominate from 3-4 am CET until…. well, we used to slow down a bit around 20-21h CET, with a considerable dip from people going to sleep at 23h CET-midnight, but apparently that problem has been solved and we were still going strong when i logged off around 23h CET today
(edited by Genev.2450)
Shush you, This isn’t the thread for that
As somebody with a slight dramatic streak, i do like reading his posts.
And no, BT is pretty much fine on transfers, except for a few hours wehre we could use some Americans. Thanks for the offer though, we’ll keep you in mind if we decide to loosen up our recruitment effort again!
Good luck, Deso, looking forward to meeting you again on the battlefield eventually
I’m aware of not all Canadians speaking French, still, there’s a fairly large area with does, and I wouldn’t be surprised that if there were worldwide french servers, which had more French Canadians for them to play with and enemies to play against….
Edit: The post below reminded me of this: It’s been pointed out to me that the Russian timezone spans over 12 hours. Currently they apparently cover 19 hours/day on our server, quite easily.
The Germans are probably the only ones with problems there, French Canadians are supposedly as kitten about French as the French themselves are, and there are Spanish speakers world-wide as well.
Though I imagine at this point all those people are happily settled.
Edit: Decided to censor myself, you’d think that word would be censored considering some of the words you can’t write here o.O
Maybe FSvsBT Russian Rumble story happens again, who knows?
There are some russian players on Deso too, those who hate BT too much to transfer
Think it’s supposed to only be a very small amount though?
I would rather not have another Russian Rumble, messes with the regular play :p
No, but they should’ve guessed that this would happen as people play together worldwide. Though they might not have meant it to be like that, if they really wanted to stop it, they should’ve region locked.
And then we’d hear whining about the Oceanics, Asians and Russians though, I’m sure
I was basically being rude and pointing out that ANet has told us that they consider this a 24/7 game
They also mention that they are working on WvW to make it work for everybody, and i’m sure the localised servers will not be left behind in that.

I repeat – Blacktide has no significant American population that I know of. Our recent transfers are EU/Russian.
(I even checked because i wasn’t entirely sure about 1 of the new major EU guilds)
I am however cajoling 1 American friend of mine into transfering to Blacktide. On his own.
Kerex: But if you, as an American, are playing on an American server, and you’re up against one of the wordlwide communities, should you not be able to get reinforcements? You’re not going to get it from those communities, they’re happily playing together, your only choice is to look outside of them – EU servers, or individual EU guilds who settled on the American servers…. but those individual guilds are often going to be pretty happy where they are, so all that’s left is the EU servers.
But you don’t want them to have a fighting chance?
(“you” being the hypothetical you btw, not you as a person, i know you’re not American or on an American server)
(edited by Genev.2450)
Many people joined the guilds or servers of their favourite oversea game critics or worldwide guilds. If you don’t region lock but block transfers between regions, there will be very few servers who ahve a massive advantage because of those people, without allowing others to get their own reinforcements to counter this.
We’ve got a bunch of new transfers, but i don’t think we’ll get that much more, our server is nearly permanently “full” at the moment, and has been so for a while, making it hard to transfer to us.
A timer for the queue would be great, i agree.
There might’ve been localised worldwide spanish and french servers, but it’s more likely that there would be servers which were designated the unofficial servers of <this>, like happens in most games., even games which do have the split but maybe no or little localisations (Warsong in WoW, anyone?).
It’s never hard to find people to play together with in your own language, if you really want to, personally i prefer a more international environment and am ecstatic that while they made a split between the servers, they didn’t region lock them.
We look forward to working together with you, FSP transfers
Every guild on Blacktide has it’s strengths and weaknesses tbh, and we realise this, and in working together, playing on those strengths to make up for the weaknesses, we’ve arrived, and are holding, in T2.
Xaoc’s strength is their huge coverage and large numbers. While they freely admit they’re less organised than quite a few guilds, the Xaoc Swarm is still very effective and I’m happy to play with them.
(I’m way too happy with everyone lately, i’ll have to watch out, people might actually start thinking i’m nice)
Blacktide currently has no significant American presence (unless some joined us while i wasn’t looking), the nighttime playing that you see is the Russians waking up, they are several hours ahead and generally start playing at 3-4 am CET.
We would welcome American guilds though, it would make our server even stronger and even more competitive.
It should’ve been a worldwide game from start
Though until they manage to figure out what they’re going to do with that, whether they’ll merge or not, and how they’d do that not to penalise the specific language servers….. The monthly T1 matches sounds like it could be fun
Please report hackers to ANet ingame and not on the forums. Reporting on the forums will often get topics locked and/or deleted.
Just woke up, score is looking good:
Total points:
BT: 28 428
ER: 9 864
RS: 7 701
PPT:
BT: 470
ER: 130

Going to enjoy it while it lasts, i’m sure RS and ER will come out in force later in the day
Blacktide
You guys have been climbing up the ladder like nobody else.Reading this as a player from Miller’s Sound hurts a bit
:D
We started as 26th into the 1 week matches and are currently 8th and leading with 8k points in our new match up against Baruch and FS (I know we havent had a primetime yet, but still..^^)
26th -> 24th -> 23th -> 21th -> 19th -> 17th -> 13th ->8th
Hope to meet you guys from Top6 soon.
Sincerly
Xanti
I think we might’v been more obvious about it due to our active forum presence and sudden appearance in the top6 :p
While I have to admit i’m rooting for FSP, our old enemies, because i liked them and they were good, i do wish you good luck and possibly see you soon!
Everybody! You’re in this tier for a reason, let’s do as well as we did last week

Because all of those guilds were international guilds with members all over the world, while that one guild was a specifically Russian guild, with a small interntional section, looking for Russian members
@ the GH posters invading this topic:
Juuuust a minute there.
I have no problem with you guys doing whatever you want (though your pretentious attitude lately makes me glad i’ve left), but it’s kinda hypocritical to call us “quitters”, claim we’ve chickened out, and then try to recruit guilds from servers which are lower in ranking than you.
With your attitude towards us, how can you possibly claim to respect people who move from lower ranks to you considering the rank difference between Blacktide and Gunnar’s was rather small at the time of us leaving?
Different servers, different playstyles, GH’s didn’t suit ours, we left and you claim you like it. Try to be a bit more convincing and stop bringing it up, stop playing the downtrodden server. You are nowhere near down enough in rankings to excuse the stuff i’ve seen on the forums from GH.
@ the original server this topic is about
Good luck, Aurora Glade, kick their kitten I’m rooting for your success

Really? Welcome to Blacktide
Stay strong, FSP, you can do it
The way i see it.
You play the game for a reason, within that game, you aim to do certain things.
If your server deteriorates to the point that you can’t play the way you like anymore, there’s no reason to stay. While it’s sad because you went there for a reason, friends community or whatnot, if that reason is gone and the server can’t accomodate your playstyle, whether it’s social, pvp, pve, anything – leave.
However, I don’t think FSP is even remotely close to that point, despite some rumblings about people leaving, it still seems like a good and strong server, and I do hope you guys keep going and kick kitten img src="/include/images/smilies/smile.png" />

Death Card:
Feel free to join us! We are both half decent at WvW, and speak English.
I ahve no problem whatsoever with being considered “dishonorable” for this reason :p
It was clear that the Russians focused on each other, and this probably lowered the quality of the overal matchup. Even on our server people were shocked and confused at how the Russians played in the weekend.
However, Maxs managed to whip them into shape and as the week progressed, they went back to their good old self.
On the Russian forums, there’s a public statement that FSP lost against BT now (Well, Disorder League lost against Xaoc), so the last 2 days of the matchup, and the future matchup, should be more balanced since from now on it will be server vs server vs server, instead of Russians vs Russians, with the Germans taking advantage of this focus
http://www.chaos-online.ru/img/images/53abb5d1e31b91d23dd1f60bf882b67b.png
Not saying ER isn’t good and didn’t deserve the win btw, i just think that even though ER might still ahve won in a “normal” matchup situation, the scores might’ve looked different, maybe a smaller gap or so. Or maybe the scores will be exactly the same, down to the last point
I guess we’ll find out next week
(edited by Genev.2450)
Fair enough, good night!
(Also, wuss, i’m still up at 4h25 am…)
I wasn’t trying, SFR was though, I managed to get away with only 1 infraction, too.
Skills!
Mmm, Should make it more interesting for you guys, 3ways are always nicer. Though are you 100% sure about the alliance? People usually like to say “Alliance” when in fact both servers are jsut concentrating on the biggest threat.
You’re the new kids on the block, they’re supposed to give you a hard time! :p
I think one thing here is that the Russians are probably bashing each other on the Russian forums more, and both ER and the rest of FSP are nice.
You should’ve seen last week’s matchup thread, we had to create 2 of them :p
Hope you at least know French so you know how you were insulted!
But yeah, we’ve met some runners here too, though they generally only run if they have good reason (aka, we’re 20, they’re 3), they’re pretty fast, too.
But i did notice that quite a lot of servers tend to stick to a large zerg more, and the organised guilds are in that zerg forming the core, instead of doing it more like us where we split up and call for help when necessary.
On the up side (for the zerg) they’ve got this “overwhelming force” thing going on, downside… if you’re not with them, you can’t really do anything.
Though always fun if they try stacking and you break it apart, they’re so confused when that happens
Will have to chekc out your stream then, see how T1 is treating you with my own eyes.
Ohai Ajaxx, still got people hunting you down through your stream? :p
Should drop down then to come join us for a bit, npnp <3
We’re having great fun here!
Hi Deso, i’ll be keeping an eye on this too
:p
Played briefly with some of you CIR guys on GH. Look forward to facing against you if we’re matched up in the future.
We’re slowly but surely working our way up, think we need some more work to get to T1 though. We’re really enjoying the fighting in T2,both FSP and ER are strong opponents and we learn more every day, so we might stick around there a while longer before coming to say hi
The way i’m currently doing it at the moment is like this:
At the end of each day of playing, I buy 3-4 (depending on how much i have in bank from the day before) Rares. If i get a rare, it goes into bank, if i get an exotic, i check how much it’s worth, and if less than a certain amount, it goes into the bank.
If i have 4 exotics from this, the exotics go into the forge too.
I do not spend money on this more than once a day, on 3-4 rares.
All the gold I made that day go into the bank (not the silver or copper, leaving me enough to repair and waypoint around)
The only time i take the gold out of the bank, is to buy something related to the legendary (f. ex. a sub-Gift recipe, ectos for my clover tries…)
Eventually, I will either have the precursor, or enough money to buy it from the TP.
Whatever comes first is how i’ll get it. I also don’t keep track of how much i throw in the Forge, i believe it helps with not getting demoralised.
I might not get my legendary anytime soon, but i will get it.
It’s one way to share with anyone interested what’s going on on the server without making them go to some separate forum which might require registration, and likely won’t have the amount of people the official forums has.
This isn’t just for Desolation to talk, this is for everybody to see if they want to get to know the community, their successes, their failures… Getting an idea of them as a server.
Also, bragging. :p
At least, that’s the way i see it.
Hi Deso, i’ll be keeping an eye on this too
:p
They’ll likely fix the transfers once they fix guesting.
While WvW is a big part of the game, there are quite a lot of people hopping servers to get certain events done, play with friends all over, etc.
If you read the 7day transfer thread, you’ll notice those people are angry now :/
Think they’re trying to keep some kinda of balance – not piss the PvE people off too much, but at the same time try to fix the WvWers issues.
Just giving an example, and morning pushes by the Russians has been a standard tactics on Blacktide for weeks, just as other servers have consistent organised night shifts which they do very well in.
Either way, i still do realise/accept/agree that there’s a problem, this problem being that a 24/7 game shouldnt have region splits.
Also, about the servers, I’ve been told it’s jsut the WvW servers which are all located in the US, with the EU ones being in Austin, Texas, and the NA ones being… somewhere on the west coast
Afaik, the “proper” EU servers are located in Frankfurt, Germany.
(edited by Genev.2450)
@mangarrage.1062
The problem, in my opinion, is not just transfers. Or do you think some of the European servers can compete with Desolation?
Blacktide nearly did, without US presence
What made Desolation win in the end was not the Americans, but their hurried, but well done, push to organise the server to counter our daytime presence.
Not sure if we still can though, now Desolation probably got more people than during our matchup thanks to bandwagoners, and have gotten more organised and better due to experiences in T2 and now T1. (We fought them in T3, just after RUIN got in)
Was an awesome week, that
But I agree there should have been no split between regions on release.
