Well, even if I don’t really agree with the way he did it, he does have a point.
Technically GvG could be seen as breaking the ToS via “kill-selling”.

Then he should ban people and hand out warnings in a professional matter with the power of the company behind him, instead of thinking he’s funny while representing ANet.

Tbh, if he wouldn’t have tourned on his ANet tag, he would simply have been a kittenbag like there are many.
But with his ANet tag on, he represents the company and instead of being a kittenbag, he shows an incredible lack of professionalism and respect for the customer. While I agree that the community hasn’t shown much respect back, that’s still not acceptable behaviour when representing your company.

Recently I bought a new graphics card, a Radeon HD 7870, and since then I’ve been getting full crashes nly in gw2. Both my screens go stripes in 1 colour, gw2 sound dies but I can still hear TS, I can’t speak on TS though. Only solution is a restart of the pc.
This is Only happening in GW2, it hasn’t happened during any other game. The timing of it is mostly evening/late night, but it has happened earlier in the day once as well. It has happened in the middle of WvW, while I was doing dungeons, while I was crafting… So not every situation was demanding on my pc.

I’ve downloaded beta drivers, adjusted fan speed (considered overheating due to the timing), checked error logs, made sure all my settings are correct (both ingame and in Catalyst) and downloaded the Application settings pack suggested in the same thread which explains the settings, to be absolutely sure.

Anyone know what this could be?
The performance of the card itself is awesome, much smoother than my previous card, and I’m really happy with it…. Except for these mysterious crashes

You’re from Desolation, you should be used to it np, you’ll get to make a fancy post soon enough about how Desolation persevered, the true people stuck around and you worked yourself up again…. You’ve seen em before I’m sure

EU primetime just made me ragequit.
I try to avoid ragequitting in general, but there’s playable and there’s… tonight.

(on the bright side, the buff didn’t change hands that much, there was still plenty of lag coming from kitten-knows-where though)

In a GvG league it should be quite easy to organise orb buff distribution so that each server has one buff , with a few small roaming packs to make sure pugs don’t take them during GvG hours.

This will be hard considering there are servers like FSP who only play to win and not fights, same for the german servers if youre on silver.
Most guilds will want to do normal roaming aswell, making all of it complicated unless you can get about 50 guilds to join in this (which is even harder)

That’s why you would need roamers from each server (likely the gvg guilds) to make sure that the orb buff stays where it “belongs”. Needs some cooperation and work, but it could provide some real fun fights for those roamers as well.

It happened before, tons of guilds moved around purely to be able to fight each other, when the matchups weren’t random, and created a guild fighting tier (AR-BB-Piken), and that after we had SFR getting a fair amount of guilds as well, not jsut to work up the ladder but also to be able to get fights.
And even with the matchups being random, you still see some movement of guilds who Really want to fight certain people.

Don’t see why it couldn’t happen again tbh, guilds aren’t nearly as invested in the communities in general as you seem to think. If you are, good for you, enjoy.

I can’t speak for other guilds but TUP is a WvW guild first, love the random action – never know what you’re going to get around the next corner. An equal sized guild group, multiple guilds, or that huge kitten zerg. So there is no chance I will be xferring around just for 2 or 3 1hr fights with only 20 of my guys. That would leave almost the same amount doing nothing. I won’t interrupt my raids for a spur of the moment GvG – we set aside days for it.

We shouldn’t have too – there should be a platform for it. We all can agree on that. Thing I will never understand is they have GvG ladders and all such things in GW1. Sure the size was smaller, but they supported it. Why can’t they simply come out and say we plan on supporting you guys, we have started working on it – will be ready when its ready but we are working on it. OR come out and be a man say no chance nothing for you < reason they are keeping quiet is because if they told the truth (likely to be “no chance nothing for you”) a lot of guilds, a lot of players would leave in their droves in the not so distant future.

I haven’t listened to the league system, in theory though sounds good. I’ll keep my fingers they implement it in a good fashion.

What a dull matchup, FSP and RoS with us for the 2nd time in about a month. Nothing to fight, no guilds willing to accept a gvg – back to asuraball this week I feel

You would have the guilds to fight outside GvG as well… I do find it a bit funny though that you say you’re not transfering because you want fights, and then at the end complain about your matchup

AFAIK you’re only guaranteed to see all the other servers in your TIER. You won’t fight the other servers outside your tier at all if I understand correctly (correct me if I’m wrong).

If I understood correctly, and if all the GvG guilds transferred to the same TIER, that would be amazing. Constant fights, constant GvGs.

Transferring on the NA side seems to be a much bigger deal for guilds. I think the only guild that regularly moves around is Agg.

The way I understood it is that you were guaranteed to see every server in your league
But yeah, we had a Tier in EU WvW before the new matchup which was basically a concentration of all the openfield/GvG guilds, there were some amazing fights happening there

They said they won’t do updates during seasons, so, ummm… no updates for at least 7 weeks, and then they might or might not have something.

Pretty sure that could mean there’s even less updates than we have now.

I think the reason people are complaining about achievement points now and not before is because now people actually get rewarded for them.
I have a fair amount of hard to get achievements which give very little points, but I have very low achievement points because I took a few breaks (as in, I didn’t play for 5 months in total, spread over the past year) and when I did play I didn’t always do dailies.

Still though, 25k is low, I have 33k, which I consider very low, and it didn’t occur to me to complain about the points

Assaulters are a stop above Invaders because they don’t just invade, they’re active combatants, attacking people and settlements.
For example, settlers could be invaders, but they’re not going to be assaulters.

Raiders are beyond that even, they don’t jsut attack, they actively work towards resource sabotage, and since they’re generally mobile they’re harder to deal with than simple assaulters. They’re a pretty nasty drain.
To me, raiders imply more effectiveness and harder to work against.

Windmill is a pretty common area for “fight clubs”, dueling and GvGs.
Whether they’re actually happening and how often though depends on the server and the matchup you’re in that week.

But will the buffs?

I’m following the same assumption everybody else is – stat boost – and that is what I’m talking about when I refer to a broken mechanic.
A buff which makes the already strongest servers (because I do believe that server will have the buff more often than the poor downtrodden other servers) even stronger.

sign people crying about Bloodlust crack me up, Relics existed in DAOC, daoc had a far more competitive GvG scene than this game, that required far more skill and didn’t rely on silly crap like 25 vs 25 ball groups (it was 8v8 because that was the bloody group size)

Hell we use to fight groups all the time that had all 6 Relics and we still won, That’s with them having 20% more Melee damage/20% more Magic Damage and 20% better healing….

So suck it up and play better.

And under the old orb mechanic, the guild I was in repeatedly destroyed significantly larger groups who had all orb buffs.

It doesn’t matter, it’s not because it can be beaten that it should be done, for many other guilds and zergs, the broken mechanic of the orb buffs compeletly ruined it for them. It’s a snowball effect which will affect much more than GvG, and if people aren’t smart enough to see that…. Lol.

Scout > Invader

Scouts need to be trusted to provide information, and do so correctly, and be able to take care of themselves.
Invaders are people who go into a land uninvited, and not welcome, and then refuse to leave… Don’t need anything special for that :p

I’d put scout right before raider actually.

Heh, logged on first in the day with a char i don’t do WvW with, relogging (without taking the booster) to another char since I’d seen it was soulbound on acquire – no other character has gotten the mail, you can’t choose who to get it with, first char of the day is the one forced to take it

I was doing world completion on my warrior yesterday, and I had to say I was giggling at the people trying to chase me. Very stubborn people!
Well, at least they saw parts of the zone they don’t usually see?

Because rating atm is ACCURATE AND CORRECT, and most of all, a good way to see who WON! YAY!

I don’t think the ratings system is very good to use personally at this time, since not every guild has the ability to challenge every other. Maybe better to use a simple win-loss ratio, even though that won’t show the actual skill level of the guild.

Maybe throw in a short description of the guilds, type history/background/goals’ish, and allow people to link videos to their respective matchups.

He thinks organised groups like siege and actual fighting is for casuals? Well, that sure explains a lot too…

As I said, I do not complain about getting killed, I couldn’t care less. I complain about the behaviour after getting killed, which really gets out of hand at the moment. Dancing on corpses, /laughing, jumping on corpses, and right now even in game whispers from obviously younger (i.e. immature) players insulting me (screenshots and reports did go out) is outright pathetic.

I’ve found this behaviour fom people of every server (including my own). I also find it disgusting and the only times I’ve /laughted over someone is when that person has been laughing/dancing/jumping over me repeatedly and I manage to catch him later.

On the other hand, I’ve also found many respectful oponents that bow and greet me after a good fight, and I try to do the same if possible.

I guess we have to live/play with those people. A shame we can’t punch them on the fice :p

If somebody dies and doesn’t release immediatly, I repeatedly walk over them and jump around.
I think of it as putting flowers on their grave, np.
