A more entertaining thread would be who’s the weakest guild, you know the ones, can lose an entire homeland BL in less than an hour while others wait in Q
Can lose Bay or Cliffs by a failed defending/taking of a spawn tower with 50+ with 2:00 left on ppt timer.
That would get locked faster than you can say “ANet”
Something about attacking people and not constructive discussion, i think. :p
You would think that a longtime commander of a server which has been all over the place has thicker skin than that….
Protip: You won’t get people into WvW by attacking them when they question something/someone they’re not familiar with.
(edited by Genev.2450)
Somebody who is new to wvw isn’t going to be too familiar with the commander system and the guilds active in wvw.
On the first server i played on there was a monster guild, known in pve as well due to their incessant recruitment spam, with a bunch of commanders… Did people follow them? Sure
Were they any good? Hahahahaha no.
It’s perfectly normal for him to question the commander system, or the commanders in charge, and it’s perfectly normal that person isn’t going to feel very comfortable approaching somebody who he’s only seen as swearing and stuff when that is something that person might nto be comfortable with.
(edited by Genev.2450)
Squad chat isn’t a viable solution. 9/10 people need to know where other commanders are if you need a position reinforced which isn’t yours or something.
On top of that, people don’t always join the squads… I always do, but my general impression is that most people don’t
Chat suppression is a good thing. I don’t want to hear your so called “commander” all night. Take it to party chat.
Then turn off map chat
Now, the part when people follow crazy, repetitive, swearing and undecided “Commanders” is beyond me.
While on Team Speak, there was a Commander, my God, 3 out of 2 word were "kitten " and 2 out of 3 were “I kill you”. All this in the worst english I ever heard.
Joining a TS server is a very good way of doing things, but if some people think that 100 gold buys them something other than a blue sign above their name…
That sounds entertaining, can you pm me who it was?
And some commanders are really good/fun to play with, i guess you just got unlucky
Sounds good, let’s see what happens
This thread has really devolved into name dropping and petty bickering. I’d like someone to actually address a guild that is the total package and not just “awesome at open field”. I’ve said it before; RG is a fun fight in the open field, but they don’t really take points.
Motion to rename the thread: “Best Projected Guilds at GvG”
Come to our match up, RG do take points. I’m not part of RG but i think they went to NA just for fights not to take towers and keeps.
RG > all
I love RG, but they ahve no interests in capping anything whatsoever
While they can be part of assaults, it’s not because they want to get whatever it is thats being assaulted, but because “oh, hey, enemies!”, and i imagine it’s the same with defense.Nah i have seen these guys take empty towers and less defended keeps etc. I guess they fight when they know the score is ok and take stuff if things are looking grim and they want to stay in the bracket for more fights.
Guess when i played alongside them, there were plenty of other good guilds keeping us up? :p
/duck
(I kid, i kid, don’t kill me)

There’s is no such thing as an overall best guilds. Good guilds get know because of excelling in particular fields, and the RG steamroll is worth a salute. Just as I’m sure quite a few other guilds which get mentioned repeatedly deserve this mention.
On the other hand, I’ve seen a guild mentioned in this thread which is just… yeah, it made me laugh.
Deso taking a break this week?
Simple answer.. Yes… Playing to have fun this week. As mentioned in the first post
Playing to have fun still implies a presence in WvW… Earlier i logged on and out of 4 maps, i found 2 commanders, both herding puggies, no organised guilds :p
Guilds don’t Have to be in WvW ofc, i was simply curious
Deso taking a break this week?
And the proof is…
L2P issue, morning cap happens before 9AM.
Coverage isn’t “l2p”, coverage is… well, coverage.
Thinking morning cap is after 9AM is L2P
Nah, morning is until 11am :p
Do you mean that he hides inside and portals people in, or do you mean that he cheats/hacks his way inside and then teleports people in, though?
There is a HUGE difference
When these threads pop up I always wonder if the people who consider them exploits simply never played with the skills that do this. When I run around in open world PvE I often bring the spirit elite solely for this purpose. Reviving lots of NPCs at an event or cap all at once feels like something an elite should do. It’s very situational and it’s not an instant win, but it’s how these skills function.
I don’t even consider it clever. Sure, resetting the tick on the circle can be really annoying (especially during those zerg rush defenses on keeps next to spawns) but actually bringing the lord back isn’t that big of a deal. If you have enough people to capture a keep, you have enough people to kill a keep lord no problem, he doesn’t even come back at full health and he won’t have the buff or anything.
When I hear people desperately wanting someone to use skill to revive a keep lord I keep wondering why, very rarely will it ever turn the tide in a battle any more than another elite skill.
This skill is working as intended and honestly, if you can’t shrug off a Keep Lord res (outside of a very specific situation where you fight for 30+ minutes to get the capture bar to fill and someone resets it) I don’t understand how you killed him in the first place, let alone hope to capture the keep.
The specific fight most Desolation people are raging about (in the old t1 thread) was a Garrison, with a waypoint, assault.
They ressed the keep lord 6 times, including 1 time where we just needed 1 more tick to capture and the res completely reset the bar.
This over the course of about 10-15 minutes i think it was.
When we realised what they were doing, people were trying to drag the lord to the center of the room (he wouldnt move because some people werent listening and then he died again, he was in an extremely accessible place if you jumped down from ramparts for example), and aoe all around his corpse (didn’t change the tiniest bit).
I’m not angry about the situation/fight/whatever, but claiming people are silly for being frustrated when something like that happens, That is silly.
PS: I don’t think it was an exploit, or needs to be changed omg, but kitten that was frustrating.
(edited by Genev.2450)
I’ve played both with and against RG and haven’t met a similarly steamrolling guild yet. While you could say omg they don’t cap, no points game, etc, they do help others with capping.
Some of the old Blacktide guilds were pretty nice too (though i think a fair amount are inactive and/or changed core now), and I’ve heard a lot of good about the Piken Square guilds.
I’ve been told GH is on par with RG, but haven’t seen enough of them yet.
Haven been on break for a month or 2 and only recently started logging on occasionally again so not very up to date with things.
(edited by Genev.2450)
Tons of fun yesterday in bay at Elona Reach BL.
I was running with GH, and i almost believed we’d get t3, strongly reinforced, bay out of sheer stubbornness. :p
Team, yes, i figured that one was pretty obvious.
Significant amount of money…. in comparison to what I live on per month (as a broke kitten studnet), sure. In comparison to what is spent on other parts of the game, doubtful.
It got delayed to march, dunno where the announcement went
Let’s try not to accuse anyone of anything now, yes?
Screen it/film it, and report it to ANet, thats how you do things.
The guild Aargh on VS: Were they same same Aargh as in Everquest 1, Mithaniel Marr server? :o
No one on Deso uses zoom hack.. not a single person.. we know about it of course, but have enough decency to not use what is considered by every other server to be a hack/exploit.
/cough bullkitten /cough
Even if that’s true, you have no solid ground to base that claim on, because you don’t know every single person on the server and what they do.
ANET, we cant report people for hacking/cheating/exploiting, NO such options in the list.. so i guess doing these things are accepted by Anet as fair play?
Report for scamming, said before by ANet
I don’t see the problem.
Even with being in a fight where Vizu ressed the keep lord 6 times (i was recording, we counted :p), which was Horribly annoying…. I consider it “Clever use of game mechanics”, without any sarcasm and a certain level of amusement.
These kinda things make me laugh. Downtime according to who?
In NA alone timezones span between UTC – 5 and UTC – 10 …. a 5 hours diff. (not including Alaska… )
Then you have to accommodate 3rd shift NA players. Why should they not get to play WvW?
What if your active time happens to fall into the official server downtime? If you are raging now, i imagine it would be worse if this happened. The idea of shutting WvW down at X time needs to just die already….
He’s talking about the downtime this morning EU time where all ANet services were down.
Site, servers, you name it it was down. It was scheduled maintenance.
On one hand, it kinda makes me laugh that happened, on the other hand it’s kinda like “…they didn’t freeze stuff? really?”
Blizzard servers are in France, maybe they confused ANet with them somehow
Frankfurt is France now? :p
Well, if someone quits, you’ve already lost. You bought the game. Improvements will be made and people that keep GW2 installed and keep coming back to play will be the ones who’ve won in this situation.
Loss of people is loss of revenue even on non-subscription games.
No purchasing of:
- cash shop items
- expansions
While you could argue that’s not that much considering the amount of people who bought the game in the first place, there’s more involved.
There’s people like me, who are still playing, but i don’t intend to buy any expansions for example. (I’ve never intended to use the cash shop)
Also future games: “Remember how they treated your favourite part in Guild Wars 2?”
As people quit, servers will become emptier, and because of this other people will have less fun – or transfer. Transfering might be revenue, but it’s always a big deal when popular games have server merges, or simply empty servers. Yay for ghost towns.
I don’t regret having boguht the game, but at the same time, I’m not going to spend more money on it.
You can never make everyone happy, and they’re more likely to lose the hardcore WvWers.
I’m not seeing that many zerging complaints, forums have pretty much gone back to normal as i see it.
“trebuchet” (is that the english speeling ?)
Yes, that spelling is correct
Very true. What I’d like to see is real WvW guilds that actually have that discipline you speak of. Actually forming ranks and using the right classes at the right times. Guardians at the front putting up reflection walls to protect their elementalists raining fire and ice in the distance! Warriors charging to the front, screaming, distracting the enemy from the thieves sneaking up and stabbing them in the back! Mesmers mixed with the warriors, making the force seem bigger than it is! Rangers and Necromancers providing ranged support! Engineers…. uh… doing whatever engineers do!
You know, actual planning and usage of the different classes beyond “EVERYONE RUN FORWARD AND ATTACK!”
Hardcore guilds used to be that organised, my old guild was pretty specific about class usage, these guys are frontliners, 3-2-1-next-one-uses-some-skill etc.
And then i guess the commanders realised that it wasn’t necessary. At all. Because everything just folded.
I think Anet should have a WvW babe of the month contest
My Charr would SO win that
Yes, with all three servers massing in your fortress is was quite unplayable.
I read “massaging” at first…. Was like “../blink what? Ohhh, guess it was just wishful thinking
” :p
http://www.grandcross.fr/coup-de-gueule/
could anyone translate and summarize it?
Most of Elona (me as well) are thinking that Vizunah is just slacking, because it is just impossible to drop to t2 in one single week so we expect Vizunah is coming back from their back and faceroll next matchup again
People are behaving like kitten and somebody screamed at Troma for something he wasn’t even there for, holding him responsible for the server’s failing on reset night.
There was also a huge problem in map chat one night, where a GC commander got insulted for 2 hours and it was impossible to do any type of talking in mapchat because it got drowned out by everybody and their dog throwing a fit.
Or about as far as I can tell.
Seems a lot of inserver politics and people/guilds I don’t really know anything about.
(edited by Genev.2450)
It’s not disrespect, it’s just silly.
Not that silly things aren’t allowed, but this is a bit like “Anyone else who likes pie playing games? Because pie lovers are so rare online :o”
Surprise surprise, women are just like men in this aspect! Who’d have thought…
I still assume everybody is male unless proven otherwise, despite having played with a lot of girls over the years, but when it turns out they’re a girl… Good for you, now keep playing.
I’ve never been aware that my gender has to matter. I just play the game.
This a million time for everyone.
Can somebody explain me what the exact description of the warrior banner is so I understand why this is shady?
I recorded that fight where that happened 3 times on my screen (i looked and counted), and some resses off-screen, and as long as it’s not a bugged ability, I don’t see why it’s called shady.
Though that didn’t make it less annoying, dear god! :p
I also don’t see the problem with running consumables at all times, though I don’t do it myself, that’s because I’m lazy and nobody is making me do it, that doesn’t mean that other people using them isn’t fair.
Basically, people are too quick to call “unfair! cheat! omg!”. I reluctantly agreed someting was wrong with those resses until i watched the vid (which i still forwarded to somebody else as requested). Nothing is stopping you from doing the same.
While of course, exploits are bad, and hacks are even worse, and I strongly discourage anyone from either of those and would never do that myself either, I see no problem with smart usage of abilities and making sure you have an edge over the opponent, whether it’s by teamwork or consumables.

A guildie of mine created an Android app linking back to the matchup site, think that might be as close as it gets.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/13xhll/gw2_wvw_scores_android_app/
He quit the game, so not sure if he ever looks at it again, but if you read the comments he does mention that US site works as well and that it’s published in the Play Store now.
its not on your position during the matchup, or at the end, it’s based on your total ranking position. Basically, while you might not ahve won every matchup, you didn’t lose or gain enough ranking points to change colours.
And a large amount of PvE’rs have been ranting like hell about needing WvW to get a legendary….
You deserve the same answer as them: Get over it.
It’s a lot better now, though there’s still culling it’s actually quite playable.
Yay for stealth-fixing without acknowledging there’s a problem?! :p
Culling also seems to work a lot better than last week for me.
Feels like a stealth-fix, don’t really approve of them not acknowledging but at least it’s better… Seems to be from everyone else since the topics on the subject aren’t getting updated anymore and no new complaints are popping up.
I’ve never ever heard that T1 is more difficult /amused
Go for it! You can do it!
It’s been like that since release, get a group of friends and sneak in while the enemy zerg is distracted somewhere else.
Colours are dependant on ranking (inside the matchup)
Within a matchup, the highest server is green, middle blue, bottom red.
You’ll either have to get their keeps, or hope you either win or lose enough to get green.
They’ve already stated that something like that isn’t going to happen.
Which is good.
