Was running with VoTF last night, great fun as always!
Great guild cooperation with AFTL and DeX as well, don’t always see that on Desolation
(This was in no way, shape or form meant as an insult, flame or trolling attempt at anyone)

Where are all the solo/duo roamers these days? All I see from deso and viz are 4-5+ groups roaming around. Getting so boring with these groups following my kitten for 5+ mins just to kill 1 mesmer.

Made me giggle, I roam solo and Its so hard to find a SFR or VS player alone, or even a duo. And if by chance I do they run back to hug a keep/npcs or wait for backup. And with Deso being ‘outmanned’ most the time all I run into is sfr or vs zergs.

Funny enough only place for 1v1/1v2/2v2 etc.. these days is EB puzzle

I’m just an average player, but I just hate people afraid of a fair fight/cowards.

Phoebe (Poison, not Ascension :p) roams solo quite often, and CIR has taken to do some small scale roaming too. Which often means basically 2 people since my Ranger kitten hardly counts as a person in small scale

It’s always funny when 2 servers go at each other that much that it turns into PvD for the 3rd server at a time it shouldn’t have been so.
It was also rather boring.

Good thing it changed later in the day/night! (Sense of time is kitten, don’t remember when exactly it was, except that it “shouldnt have been”)

Currently you can mark targets for your group with ctrl t.
The mark however disappears with culling >_< (fixed soooooon. i hope. :p)

All i see is a bunch of band wagoner servers, Calling a server that started with Low Population and built up a strong wvw server band wagoners.

Unlike VZ and Deso, SFR was in t8 at launch we didn’t have all the cool kids jump to the big population servers. We built our community from the bottom up. We built on what we needed, and got some great guilds.

I can’t help but laugh when i see comments about SFR being the band wagoners.

Every top international server is a bandwagon server – want to fight in the high tiers? currently that leaves you with either Deso or SFR unless you’re German or French and don’t mind playing the game in those languages (/shudder)
Up to a certain amount, those bandwagoners help, and then they start clogging up the queues, guilds get irritated, leave for another server, the server drops, rinse and repeat.

Must not mind speaking spanish to go on desolation.
Sfr is nice thanks to the fact that this is a global bandwagon server and thus there are followers from the entire world such a thing suppress any language barrier.

And Vizunah is nice thanks to the poor country of yours and lazy people who don’t work Come on, at least the people of our server do something in real life and in addition to that play the game and take the crown from your server with less people.

Current GvG fights are 25v25 if I’m not mistaken.

Wow. 25v25 seems a bit excessive to me. Having to get 25 people together for a competitive fight seems a bit excessive considering the fact that there are caps on how many people can fight in a single map. How can people really set up those 25v25 on a consistent basis? I would think at most, 15v15 would be the competitive number, although 10v10 or 5v5 was more expected…

It usually seems to happen at the end of a matchup, and frowned upon if happening earlier. Guilds reach out to each other if interested, or set open challenges and then they get organising. If they do it at a time the rest of the server agrees with (if they’re on a server which does that a lot), you can see guilds leaving borders to allow for GvG, though we’ve had it on our server a GvG was canceled because there was a queue on our side, and people had problems getting in.

25 is a pretty good number – below culling, but enough to feel like an actual guild battle. 10 and lower would feel more like sPvP i imagine.

Current GvG fights are 25v25 if I’m not mistaken.

Moving towards better arguments WL was really nice how you guys fought last night.We couldn’t touch garri last night but a decent part of that is to be atributed to IRON that just wouldn’t stop focusing us.Strange tactic since reason dictates that VS is their prime enemy this week fighting for the spot in t1 but all in all was a real fun night on VS bl.I would say reset on this bl was a draw draw in both keeps hold and wipes between all the 3 participants and many 3 way fights.

Unfortunately sfr was the only server that didn’t have a 1 mega guild on the map and our forces were always divided but i certainly can’t blame 2 big guilds like wl and iron that they prefer to play as one.

We took both your lake and hills since you guys decided to focus our bay straight away from the start of the reset when we were going for woodhaven. Specifically RIOT guild, after they tried and failed miserably we thought kitten this you want to focus us we take your lake and hills =D.

Im formerly from Piken Square he was always at our server meetings on TS and very vocal, im not flaming RG i just find it amusing the concept of sacrx’s well known lack of patience that even he (Bob) knows he has mixing well with a french community.

Wat? Did you even read my post? Have you ever played in a full pug group? Have you ever played WvW?
So many questions to a post which is… not very relevant to what I wrote actually

Also not sure if you noticed my guild (or if you even know my guild, my “guild ego” says you should have, alas, some people don’t hear all the good stuff for some reason :p), but if you know anything you should know we’ve had no problem taking on larger groups and smashing them into pieces.

I don’t know VoTF’s playstyle, only seen you around twice and neither of those times I was running with you (keeping commander tag off in a bl without commanders… so mean, don’t want the pugs following?), but I doubt you just run in and go “lalalalalaaaaa cross fingers for win”… Which is basically what you tell pugs to do if I’m not mistaken? Sure sounds that way.

Besides, why can’t it be fun for people to hold off a strong guild inside a keep? While I prefer open field, I’ve had tons of fun fighting off enemies from inside, defending it as long as possible. Sure you’ll ahve to fight them eventually, but why shouldnt people who have a slim to none chance of taking them on in open field do this on their own terms? Maybe they’ll enjoy it… Maybe they’ll win! :o

Why wouldn’t PUG’s charge WL? They will most likely die but whats wrong with that? This entire issue you have going on that seems to be about not wiping is just beyond a joke now. Preferring to sit inside a keep/tower on the kitten end of a cata/arrowcart simply cant be as fun as getting out there going toe to toe with an enemy, even if you die.

Almost everyone who plays this game doesn’t -want- to die but we all have at some point, some more than others and its part of the game, the only way pugs will improve is to throw them at situations that are quite difficult to deal with, put them in situations where they have to manage themselves in a way within which any mistake means they die.

Seriously? Of course pugs aren’t going to charge a well-known guild of a certain caliber, that’d be stupid.
There’s a difference between going “QQ DUN WANNA DIIIIEEEEE” and “If we charge them, we die and lose this tower/keep/whatever the kitten it is that we’re trying to hold”.

I’m not a commander (though I’m contemplating buying the book because… eh, why not. Donations welcome.) but I sure as hell wouldn’t lead a group of people of uncertain skill and cooperation against a guild such as GH, RG, and the like. And I actually love openfield combat.
Because it would be down right useless and a waste of time, better to make them waste their time and hope we either get reinforcements so we can outnumber/sandwich them, or hope they have to run off because other people on the field are casually capping everything else because they’re trying to take wherever I’m holed up.

Challenge is good, but there’s a difference between challenge and sheer idiocy.

I don’t really understand why SFR gets a lot of flack as a “bandwagon” server. We have a really strong backbone of guilds/commanders that have been with us if not since start, for at least 3+ months. OSC, Riot,kitten VcY, Rise and others are responsible for our long climb from t6-7 to where we are currently.

SFR wouldn’t be dominating as we’ve been doing in the last two weeks without all the new guilds that joined us, but we would certainly be able to hold our own in t1 or win most of the time in t2.

Because you’re the current top non-language specific server.
Maybe it’s not as bad now it’s paying (though tbh, not too hard to get gold together to transfer, or if you’re willing to waste rl money, take out the credit card), but people are still going to flock to the top

SFR, because VS has their morning/nightforce being countered by SFR enough for Desolation to actually do something.
The French also tend to take random weeks of “We’re going to take it easy”, no clue if that’s what’s happening right now or not.

They just deny nightcapping by Canadians, or in large groups.

And even if VS night force will be less effective against SFR, they’ve still got more than Deso :p

Before I adress some minor issues which popped up earlier, I have to say I had a real fun day, playing with and against several people and guilds.
Though I would ask enemy guilds to come at groups I’m running with from an angle which give me plenty of time and opportunity to run away like the coward I am

Haha Genev you are such a troll, you sure you don’t want to follow the old guilds you used to play with from Fs and Blacktide to Sfr? I am sure most of Deso would be willing to contribute to pay for the gems you need, though ofcourse it would be painful for us points wise to lose CIR. But you know how it is we don’t want people to stay on our server if they are not happy.

Ahhh, first things first: I’m not from FS, never been there, and the Blacktide guilds… While some of them are on SFR, most of them have spread all over – including to Deso actually. Don’t think there’s that many on SFR.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, I hardly kept track.

While I would welcome any financial contributions, I’m sad to announce anything you send will not be used towards gems to leave Desolation. I’m working on a Legendary, though, so like i said, donations are welcome, in whatever spirit they are sent.

And what gave you the idea I’m not happy on Desolation? Sure, I’ve apparently managed to pick up some trouble with certain people, and I’m not a very loving/cuddly person, but as far as I was aware, not liking certain people or organisations does not automatically mean I’m unhappy with everything.
But I’m guessing that was more your version of “gtfo”. You know, kinda, combined with the gems offer, it sure gave that impression.

When CIR was active, I wasn’t playing to play with a bunch of randoms, to play with any other guild than the one i chose to play with. While it’s necessary to team up at times, and that’s part of the game, and working together (as in, running together) can be fun at times, it shouldnt be how everything is.

Try to be as good as you can with the people you enjoy playing with! Put some effort in things!

Guilds of 20-30members, maybe yeah, it looks like anet tops on 25, they dislike zergs. I play in a guild, not a pug, but for real, if everyone did play WvW as anet intended to do it, WvW would be great, BUT, it’s not strategically optimal.

But more it’s not.

Anyways people doesn’t run with 80 guys everytime, just to some special defend or attack (unless of course you are trapped in your only fortress).

Btw, some1 else thinks that WvW rounds should end a little earlier? ._., post-restart fights are great, but friday is more or less lost until 1:00.

It worked for Blacktide, before people got bored. Why shouldn’t it work for others?
Becuase other servers run in blobs? They did that during BT days too, and we were still nr 1 for weeks.

I don’t expect to run casual guilds in the same way as hardcore guild, but i do expect them to realise what “being casual” is.
Coverage? A guild can run 24/7 and still be casual, its not jsut about being there, it’s also about skill level, about training, and dedication (you know, that thing i got told i didnt understand :p) and about authority and respecting that.

At the same time, it’s also about creating a community of likeminded people. People who understand what the others strive for and go for the same thing.
While that happens in casual guilds too, as i understand (they’re not really my type), they simply strive for a different thing and dont understand certain things hardcore guilds turn into their online life.

On average SFR had around 300 each night for the last 4-5 days at 21:00 (GMT+1). Vizunah’s tick is on average for those days at that time 180-200.

Prime Time begin at 21h for the french you know so when the prime time begin SFR have 300 points + T3 forts and 2 hour later still in prime time they have 130points.

Thing is, because GW2 is b2p, people will still pop in on and off, in somecases stick aorund again for a while, etc
I took a 2month break and now i’m playing again (though not as much as before), and several guildies have said they’ll check out what the march patch brings.

How many games regain a lot of players, even subscribers, again whenever there’s a patch or expansion? Will be the same here.
