I agree with NyuuNeeChan, this would be penalizing efficiency. Although I do think there needs to be a system in place to eliminate speed runs and content skipping.

One of the hilarious things I noticed with this most recent content patch is the amount of people complaining about the pirate dungeon’s difficulty. Before this dungeon, every post about PvE was that the content was too easy. You’re never going to please everyone, but there are certainly strides ANet can take to improve the dungeon experience for dedicated players willing to complete the content.

A Legendary Prospect

So the current legendary items are great, but I feel like they were a huge missed opportunity to incorporate the Guild Wars 1 lore into the game. The current legendary shield, “The Flameseeker Prophecies” is brilliant.

When the next round of legendary items is introduced, I hope they take the chance they have to recall some awesome GW1 items, or at least recall them in their design. Some ideas:

Staff: Vizier’s Lament – Resemblance of Khilbron’s staff
Warhorn: Stormcaller – Mouthpiece used to blow Stormcaller, at the city of Rin
Axe: Chaos – Similar skin to the Chaos Axe
Dagger: Shiro’s Reckoning – A long dagger similar to the one used by Shiro of Cantha
Mace: Droknar’s Fist – A deldrimor weapon with icy effects
Sword: Rurik – An upgraded version of of the Fiery Dragon Sword with more effects and a footprint.
Shield: Northern Wall – An imbued fragment of the Great Wall of Ascalon
Torch: Flameseeker’s Brazier – Similar to the brazier carried in the GW1 missions
Hammer: Jalis’ Ironhammer – An exquisite dwarven weapon used by King jalis ironhammer

I saved my favorite idea for last:

Shortbow: Stormbow – Similar to the original Stormbow with effects similar to Aether (current) but with more lightning. When the weapon is stowed, it takes the form of swirling black clouds and lighting around the player. When the player wields it, the clouds and lightning converge at the players hands in the form of a bow. Lightning arrows are formed when the tendon is drawn, and the shoot effect is of lightning bolt arrows. Player trails leave thunderstorms, similar to the rainbows left by Bifrost when the player is mobile.

I left a lot of weapons out, I’d love to hear some ideas for future legendary weapons.

Also I don’t think you are considering diminishing returns for repeated paths. If you were to eliminate DR, your theoretical system could be abused much more efficiently than the current process.

The solutions are:

A.) Drastic changes to CoF P1. Include a more complex gauntlet at the Gate Control part.

B.) Lower reward costs for more difficult dungeons (Arah specifically, considering difficulty is relative). This would allow for less time spent in those dungeons as your reward would get you closer to your item goals in a shorter amount of runs.

This is the argument that people use for every bit of GW2 content that is controversial. RNG, Legendary weapons, armor skins, etc. Not everyone has the same ability to participate in what the game offers for a wide variety of circumstances and it’s unfair that these players miss out on the best aspects of the game.

It’s an easy argument to make because the game is designed to give simpler alternatives to the most expensive content but it’s still unfair. Everyone should have equal opportunity to gain the best rewards. I understand that those who work harder deserve to be rewarded better, and that is perfectly fine, but there is a massive discrepancy between the players who can and the players who cannot.

This also happened in the GW1 economy between the players that completed speed clears and those who did not. It takes so long to accumulate wealth if you are not pounding your life away at the computer that it is greatly discouraging to continue to work towards long term goals.

Axes for Thieves

I think the most realistic item that I can’t believe we don’t have access to is the Mace. When I think of our class, thief, I think of just that – a trickster, sleight of hand using bandit, not an assassin or ninja.

A mace could be the perfect control weapon. The blackjack is used in like every other game as a weapon by our genre.

Small quality of life change, but would be useful. Especially in fast paced instances that require quick preparation before and between bosses or used during the extremely short windows in which you are placed out of combat during boss encounters.

Because it offers a service to your team rather than the single player exclusively. It also sticks around for a bit so you can post it up by a difficult boss or at a Fractal checkpoint.

Maybe the ability of posting the NPC at a boss is actually a factor to discourage this being implemented.

Similar to the items that give access to the bank, the Merchant NPC, and the BLTP NPC, can we have a summons for the armor repair NPC?

This is mainly because of Fractals.
I know an inevitable argument to this will be the fact that armor repair cans are offered in the gem store, there’s no reason for the other services not to be offered so I’m sure this is a valid suggestion. Thanks!

What? You get achievement points for having the skill to complete the content. If you have problems with elitist griefing maybe MMOs aren’t for you. Most of your points are valid but saying accomplishments = time played exclusively you’re out of your mind. Try getting Dungeon master without accomplishing the dungeons. I understand you’re frustrated but be realistic.

They should at least make other drops remotely exciting. It’s either a legendary or some kitten skin, the only inbetween are skins that cost 400g and in that case you might as well buy a precursor.

This is absurd. Before this patch every post in this forum was that PvE content is too easy. Honestly just stop playing. This is the game; this is the mechanic – movement. I didn’t complete the final boss because it is difficult, yes, but seriously, if you’re going to complain about there being no challenging content on July 10th then just go play something else.

Of course this. It took ages for ANet to implement this system into the game (3rd expansion) and that game needed it immeasurably more than this one does. I’m sure it will happen but we’re going to have to wait… and wait.

This is an interesting idea and a good method of making the dynamic event system more dynamic. It’s unfortunate that the events are so stagnant because I feel as though the dynamic events are where ANet can truly take advantage of their mechanics and create something fantastic.

This is something that has been raised many times but I don’t think loot tables are going to be implemented. I think ANet is heart set on slamming us all with RNG. The cash shop shows that. The best we can do is suggest small improvements to placate us until permanent new content is finally released.

The problem with dungeons is that people either quit playing once they get the skins they seek, or they only run a particular instance for farming. The reason is because there is literally no incentive besides armor skins to run other dungeons.

Offering a bag of T6 materials of a particular type for 60 dungeon tokens (1 path completion) would be great incentive for people to delve into each dungeon.

For example, 60 Tears of Ascalon can be traded for 3 Crystalline Dust. Have each material available for trade from a different dungeon merchant.

Twilight Arbor and Crucible of Eternity are nice sets. Also, have you looked at Zedd’s? I’m not sure how it differs on female models but it’s a very nice, simplistic set.

So with the burning trait I went to 30/30/10 for my condition build. Since I get the 30% duration from Spite I figure I can abandon 2 sets of the runes that add 15% bleeding duration. I was thinking of choosing x4 Runes of the Necromancer to supplement some of the vitality lost from Blood tree. Thoughts?

If you die during the boss and select Roughneck Crook WP, and double click it and quickly close the map you will revive where you died (at the boss) rather than at the WP

I think the direction of this game is obvious – leave the core dungeons in for people who want to play without spending money and any new content added will be temporary gem shop provocations.

It’s a low blow from ANet and it’s a shame that they took such a beautiful game in this direction. Such opportunity. With this type of content style I’d give the game maybe another year before it falls off the face of the map.

I play PvE exclusively, and I don’t, and haven’t used GM. Dungeon designs don’t require it as you can usually bottle neck or drop the marks directly where you need them without pulls. I’m using scepter more often anyway.

I acknowledge that exclusive PvE and PvE/WvW builds are worlds apart.
