Do they announce up coming sales before hand or not? Is there a way they could perhaps put a notification on the log in screen? Like they used to with GW1 and the weekend events? Or would this mess up things in the economy?
It won’t mess up the economy for gem store services such as character slots and other account additions. I think they release information on sales a couple days prior primarily on the Facebook page, which I always though was a poor method of relaying information to the players.
Daggers and focuses and warhorns suffer from a wealth of garbage skins. Hopefully this is addressed with new content.
Discovery mode for unique skins would be interesting and make crafting more appealing. They could be account bound as to A. not give a certain profession domination over the market and B. to encourage more players to delve into crafting for more than leveling experience.
Ranger pet skins
Necromancer minion skins
Guardian Spirit Weapon Skins
Engineer kit skins
Warrior Banner skins/fight animations
Elementalist elemental skins/ particle effect colors
Mesmer particle effect alterations (butterflies/shatter effects)
Thief acrobatic animation alterations
Yes but YOU didn’t – your 250 year old ancestor did.
There were 20 different Obsidian armors.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Obsidian_armor
10 different professions and male and female version of each. Which ones were you suggesting? All? One for each Guild Wars 2 profession and its male/female version? That would be 16 sets in the gem store. So when you say put the armor in the gem store, which one(s) did you mean and why those and not the others?
Maybe the Necromancer for light, Ranger for medium, and Warrior for Heavy. Or some unique combination of them that resembles the old sets.
Legendary Failure of Ascalon
It wouldn’t be too accurate in GW2 considering Ascalon got blown up lol.
I got my ticket in my 3rd gem chest.
The request for additional builds to be saved is frequently submitted. This is a very important addition that can benefit ANet financially if they implement the system similar to purchasing gems to unlock bank and inventory space.
Allow us to pay X gems to unlock a blank build template and save our traits to it.
BIND EVERYTHING TO ACCOUNT.
Koss afro hat. Yas.
So you want them to revert a core mechanic so you can show off by one-hitting centaurs in Queensdale. Seems legit.

Allow UNBOUND ring exchange for people who get stats they don’t need.
This would only be allowed if the player had not soulbound the ring yet.
We can drop entire mobile zergs with a well placed epidemic depending on how potent this condition is.
They could make all the stories even tie in together if they left some of the content live, if altered. No one cares about the Molten facility now and it was a big deal in the game – made NPCs relocate, etc.
An example of integrating the content into the game while tying it together could be these Aetherblade pirates retreating to the molten facility and they could have the dungeon open not as the molten facility but as the Aetherblade Hideout. This is just an off the top example, but this direction would be really interesting and keep people waiting for the next installment of the living story. It would add adventure and interest as far as people wanting to take part in the progression.
This stuff is easy to do, all of the parts are in the game already. I really hope the opportunities in the gem store aren’t what’s holding ANet back from interesting content.
Also, regarding the topic – everyone should notice that DS#5 provides Torment on top of some other effects! This is the necro flavour I guess.
This. Tainted Shackles sounds like it’s going to be more dramatic than just dotting a guy with this new condition. I’m thinking once it’s used to apply the dot it will flip into another skill that we can use to manipulate the movement of whoever we applied the condition to. Should be fun. A bit of a gimmick in PvE but with burning being introduced to us, I’m not entirely disappointed.
As far as being flavorable I think it would be neat if it played off of poison. Building stacks and intensity until poison evolves into disease.
Do you think they’ll add the burning to the condition line? I’m expecting a slap in the face and having the power line given the burning trait.
It mentions a way to control those afflicted with Torment, I wonder if they mean just generally controlling the fight or the Tainted Shackle skill will flip to something else once the condition is applied.
You would make a killing, ANet.
More like – new content – and unavailable. Like the skins. What’s even the point?
So you gamble money on the gem store or the TP. Since it’s limited time content it creats a sense of urgancy and keeps the market stimulated. A real cheap tactic to keep players playing with the shallowest of content.
This. The temporary content makes the gem store items look extremely attractive with their “limited time only” design. It may be unfair to say that the main reason these events leave nothing permanent behind is solely for ANet to score from limited time items, but with more and more RNG in the gemstore it’s getting pretty obvious that there is a lot of motivation there.
Can we have some boss mechanics in future dungeon updates? I understand the work involved in revamping the current dungeons, but for new content I would like to see some effort into the fights rather than dodge and hit for X hp.
Molten Facility boss was pretty sweet.
Also, I understand that temporary content makes gem store items much more attractive with their “limited time only” design, but when can we expect some new permanent content?
I see Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire, etc. I really hope these areas don’t end up like Southsun.
Yeah that’s not how damage works. That number is cumulative, not additive.
It sounds like the problem people are having with toughness is not the fact that it gives aggro, but that once you have that aggro the game mechanics don’t allow you to effectively “tank” the mobs. So there’s a problem of having the tank’s aggro mechanics without his survivability.
This is a reasonable concern, especially for professions like the Necromancer, whose condition builds usually call for Toughness. It’s difficult to solve this problem because there are no other sensible solutions to aggro. Mobs running from player to player is dumb. Where do you go from here?
I don’t know, it was a lot of fun back in the old days. If they implement this I hope it is super flavorful and Necromancer exclusive.
I’m waiting to hear "Yes, it was a mistake. The price of holographic wings is now 500 Jorbreakers.
How does ascension work for back items that are transmuted like the Karka shell? I put the skin on an exotic back. If I ascend the shell will it revert back to its original stats or can it even be ascended?
The problem is that GW2 content is not fun after the first two or three runs.
Enough RNG. Having every boss, every chest, every reward RNG diminishes any sense of accomplishment. I don’t even want to do dungeons anymore because there is no thrill of victory. People complete content for rewards. You might as well remove the dungeons and just have fractals.
Let bosses from each dungeon have a chance to drop items from that dungeon’s vendor, or unique skins specific to the dungeons. This RNG has to give.
I have map completed on two and a half characters because I like the little gold star by my name. Otherwise it’s garbage, I have 4 gifts in my bank, soon 6. Cashing in for Laurels would be great. 50 is asking a bit much though. That would equate to 5 monthlies, or 50 dailies, or some combination of the two. Mapping simply doesn’t take that long. 20 laurels per gift sounds reasonable.
I think if they offer trait swaps it will be set up to change between builds like in GW1. There was basically a drop down box to choose your build from, and traits and skills swapped accordingly. Someone here suggested even allowing players to pay for “trait swap slots” like you would bank slots, and have X amount of builds saved that can be switched out of combat.
When round two of the personal story becomes available, allow there to be rewards from the quests that can actually be used effectively. Materials, badges, crafting components, more gold, more karma… just anything that makes the story worth doing.
This all day. Yes.
Right now I’m running Conditions (or, condition). I just hope that the next patch gives a solid MM build. Some stat distribution, etc.
Most suggestions are too massive or too outlandish to even be considered though. Guild halls is a topic that frequents the boards on an hourly basis. It’s a huge part of the game but also a huge undertaking. It’s rational but it’s demanding of resources. An alternative to Guild halls which we know will eventually be put into the game is a more efficient communications system for players that participate in multiple guild events. This is a rational suggestion that makes use of resources that not only already exist but are already implemented.
I think for the price of T3 cultural they should offer an actual variety of exotic sets. It’s ridiculous that on top of spending 100+ gold on these sets you have to then acquire transmutation stones one way or another.
Fair enough. We all know it takes thousands of players to get ANet’s attention and leaving garbage posts just makes this forum even more of a joke. I know I’ve left my fair share of posts that have been wastes of time but if this is our only outlet to let the devs know what we want and their not acknowledging that, what’s the point of any of these posts?
That’s why it’s that much more important to not leave kittenposts. The easier the real suggestions are to find, the better it is for all.
Okay that’s what I figured but there was a lot of extra words. You have a point though, a lot of these suggestions are outrageous. people have to consider the chain of priority and rationalize their posts. An excellent example of an appropriate suggestion is the one that got toggle right click option implemented – present a topic that has real and current effects in game and offer solutions and solid evidence that it is an important issue.
There has been a thread floating around the first couple pages the last few days about flying in the game that is a perfect example of how to not get your idea considered.
What are you even saying
How about adding a new hero slot in the panel for an item that is exclusively +MF% that you can upgrade similar to ascension through MF.
starts at 3%, add doubloons or mats or something to it to upgrade %
What stats are suggested to attempt this spec? I know it isn’t really viable in PvE yet but I’m hoping we see it work in the next few months, so I’m trying to theorycraft. No stats transfer to minions I assume?
Sounds like a PvP or Orr area considering there are no hearts missing, but if you have all the vistas that is strange. Maybe Southsun?
Great thread. I played Necro exclusively on GW1 for 6 years and just finished gearing my second necro in GW2 (due to not wanting Asura anymore).
This class is the most interesting of all the ones I’ve played. The animations, the skills, the loosely connected builds… it’s all a part of the beautiful chaos that is the Necromancer. Notice that every player that talks about the Necro’s downfalls still play their favorite class religiously. This is because we know that once ANet completes their vision of what they want the Necromancer to be, it will not disappoint.
Also, Final Rest.
Karma becomes useless. Merchant to convert Karma to Skill Points would be great. Whatever amount, 10-20k/SP would be reasonable.
This would only work if instead of T6 materials there was a substitute material that can be used in place of T6 mats when crafting. For example, Instead of an elaborate totem that you get for gold, you would buy with karma a “prestine” elaborate totem, which would be an account bound substitute that could not break the market.
Otherwise it is a fantastic idea considering there is a point when karma is literally useless since it is not an account-wide total.
