Some seem like species, rather than races, so some of your suggestions don’t seem possible.
I think it’s fine, as is.
This…
It is because we are talking about species, not races (probably D&D’s fault for starting this by calling them “races” and creating half-elves for those who wanted to have the best of both worlds)

I think the core problem of the Priory/Consortium Ley line gathering is its bad scaling, which is much less forgiving in small groups than it is in large ones.
To success you need:
1. Collectors for you own team (some just donate one, than go auto attack)
2. Killers of Inquest carriers (where the bad scaling hits hard, you just can’t keep up)
3. Taunting Inquest collectors with a “ley line energy pick up” just behind the Inquest collection area at the spawn point (only needs 1-3 skilful people, but they are rare these days).
During the initial phase of the events, with 30 or 50 people doing them, the “useless auto attack #1” people did succeed, because they got carried by a few skilful “taunts” and so much CC that the Inquest just died. Now, with 5 or 10 people doing the events, they are just overwhelmed if not everyone contributes as best as he can)
Applies to other stuff as well, like breaking the bar on The Shatterer.

The problem with Flax Fibres is the fact that WvW players need them the most and have no reasonable way of getting them in their game mode.
WvW players suggested the cost of Supply Sacks to go down to 6 (or 4) when Anet tweaked Scribing in April – which they have not done (nothing WvW related really was fixed concerning Scribing; same applies to the Cost of 3000 Badges of Honour for a Mist statue).
WvW players need a War Supply Track that replaces the Boxes 5, 15, 25, 35 & 40 from the Hero Weapon track with Greater Boxes of War supplies (2 Supply Sacks, 1 random T6 fine mat, one Exotic backpack, 20 Badges of Honour + 2 Clovers for the final box)
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
I am willing to write this again and again: The Gift of Exploration takes a significantly longer time to obtain than the Gift of Battle. (both required in the Gift of Mastery).
Getting all the stacks of T6 fine materials takes a lot of time working/grinding for the money to buy them (or resources to craft them). The weapon specific Gifts can use up an obscene amount of gold (e.g. Gift of Bifrost).
Nothing you have to do to get a Gift of Battle at the current state of the game covers a fraction of what you have to do for another “Gift of …”
I would even argue, that it might be easier to get a full reward track in 5.5 hours now (full tick, booster = 314 points every 5 min), than getting 250 Badges of Honor in the same time.

Guild management needs some huge QoL improvement, the notary is just one of them.
@Toph
Not a lot has really improved, when it comes to the donation process since the OP started this thread 10 months ago.
The notary still needs a function to filter for upgrades (e.g. so you can see which materials are needed e.g for “Workshop T2” without going to the work shop building / proprietor itself).
The donation process also needs a priority list, so you could flag materials with low priority or alternatively with high priority (e.g by giving the items needed a golden border).
The new “twitter monuments” are a work around for guild messages, but that should be improved as well (we need a mass-mailing system, even if it goes on cool down for 6h to avoid spam; Message of the day needs to be separated from a permanent message board etc. )
Other QoL features would be to be able to switch your guild boosts anywhere you want and not just at the Tavern (we all know how often we forget to swap WvW or PvP boosts in a week).
The roster needs a way to sort guildies by server (important for PvX & WvW guilds), Admin Lower Ranks should have been split from the “recruit action”, so guild recruiters don’t have to be put at the bottom of the rank hierarchy.
And that is not even touching guild activities and guild hall expansion via upgrades & crafting…

I did not notice this naming pattern! Writing this down for future characters.
For further reference:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Charr#Names
Don’t forget that Charr usually are part of a Warband (fahrar or military unit), which is part of the name as a prefix or suffix, e.g. Rytlock Brimstone is part of the “stone” warband.
Beef Hardstew is actually a good friend of Bred Hardboiled and Beers Hardcake, all appearing as
food and beverage vendors at the next Meatoberfest in Diessa Plateau (just kidding).

The daily cap at 15k is OK, what I find debatable is the way the AP rewards are set up.
The reward chests are often worse than a champion bag, the Magic Find contribution is negligible compared to Essence luck gathered and completing the armour set has the cap set too high for the total amount of points available (could finish a 3-5k lower).
A bit problematic is the “historical” part. Some past events gave tons of APs that are just no available any more to catch up or re-do.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
Your character should have an actual name, not something like talon glovepaw or beef hardstew. Those sort of names are the ones the devs spend 3/4 of a second conjuring when making the game for speed reasons. You should at least spend 60 seconds looking up cool names. I personally like crusader names.
I see nothing wrong with the naming pattern here. It perfectly fits how Charr characters are named by the Dev’s: very descriptive names of mostly physical attributes.
Dev’s tend to give Sylvari names Gaelic inspired names (Wynn, Faolain etc.), Norns get Nordic style names (-son & dottir endings e.g.) and Asura have short names with lots of un-melodic consonants (Phlunt, Snaff).
Those are actually very well thought of naming conventions which make it easier to recognize a race just by its name.
On the other hand I have no idea what a “crusader name” is supposed to be.

I’m a bit confused about this post. It takes 300 badges of tribute, so 9000 (/breaks glass) badges of honor are needed right? And each decoration is 100 tribute badges meaning 3000 Boh?
If it’s only 400 BoT total, then consider buying them on the TP. It would amount to around 130 gold and more reliable than attempting to farm badges.
1 Tribute Badge = 30 Badges of Honor
War Room => unlocks are around 9000 Badges of Honour
One single Mist Statue needs 100 Tribute Badges = 3000 Badges of Honor
I hope that makes it more clear now.

Adding
How to get participation and not anger WvW players
- Don’t complain in /map or /team chat that you are forced to play WvW for a Legendary item.
- If you decide to stand on Monuments only, at least flip the two sentry positions in the ruins back to your team’s colours when they are lost.
- You have a good scouting position on most monuments, report enemies running by in /team chat. (numbers, direction etc.)
- Help allies that get ambushed right outside your weapon’s range. Gaining their gratitude will be worth more than watching them die (because they might help you flip a camp for faster rank gain & better participation.)
- If your server’s scouts beg for help, move and try to save a keep/tower. Just you being there showing strength in numbers can help, even if you don’t want to PvP at all.

I think a thing everybody here has not on the table yet, is the cost of Scribing paid in Badges. That’s where most of my Badge supply went the past months.
Not counting the Tavern upgrades, you need around 300 Badges of Tribute to unlock all upgrades in the War Room. That translates to 9000 Badges of Tribute.
Each Tactic or Improvement you create costs 1-2 Tribute Badges.
Each Mist Statue decoration cost 100 Tribute Badges (= 3000 Badges of Honor !!!)
Yes, we need some genera increase in Badges or at least a closer look at the Provisions Master ability, which does not increase the amount of my Badges I get a lot (?).

We all know that superior catapults, built right in front of a wall are kind of silly, but I assume the damage scaling with range is a bit difficult to implement. Perhaps the other way around, preventing catas to be built so close would be better. The problem might be the game engine making a difference between the different siege.
A “moat / murder holes” tactics upgrade would work, too (if triggered, it damages all enemy siege at 300 range from walls and gates).
People build catas close to walls, because AoE can keep enemies from defending or throwing disablers. Siege a bit further away would give defenders a better chance.
We also should not forget how “repair-hammer-BETA” will shake up placement both defensively and offensively.

>> War Supply – Track (that includes items needed to create War Room schematics, like Flax Fiber, we currently need to get pretty much by PvE farming the VB garden)
>> Add one “Memory of Battle” back to the daily reward chests. Those are totally out of balance compared to the PvP “Shards of Glory”
>> Get back crafting stations as a T6 upgrade to “Supply Master” (or split them between Supply Master, Build Master & Repair Master); This will allow Veterans to access the convenience of the stations and will still keep “PvE friendlies” out.
>> Capping monuments should stabilize, but not increase reward track participation. This will “encourage” (force) people AFKing there to actually do something useful to earn track points. Scouts can still use it too keep a track going if they can’t escort a dolly, defend or repair stuff.

I have the feeling that Ele’s “Wash the Pain Away!” was hit too hard.
Just to help everyone remember:
“Wash the Pain Away!”: The base healing per level for this skill has been decreased by 33%. The healing power contribution has been increased by 150%. The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 25 seconds to 20 seconds in all game types.
When you got to use your dedicated healing skill, you want to heal a large chunk of points. Taking away a third of that ability is a big blow to the skill. Why the large number? A bit of restraint on the use of the nerf hammer would have been a better way. Why not start with 20% and see if that’s not already over the top?
As a Ele which still runs a fair bit of “out of meta” Cele stats in PvE/WvW (for a total of 440 healing power), the effect of the 150% contribution is fairly negligible. I think it is fair for non-healing power combos (e.g. zerker) to be weaker, but balanced builds should not be as bad as they are now casting the skill.
I see where the balance idea is coming from (sPvP bunkering with Clerics + Water trait), but doesn’t the group heal effect be the part that should have been addressed? Why not keep the individual heal at the original numbers and reduce the party heal by 50%?
Yes the cool down reduction means 20% more healing compared to before (narrowing down the “loss” to 13%, but that only applies if you can use the skill over and over again. It does not apply if the skill does not help you ward off a spike of damage, which will kill you, because the health is not going up significantly.
Lets not forget that Elemental Bastion got a similar treatment, which also contributes to the sorry state of “Wash the pain away”.
Please take a look at this skill nerf again and strengthen the individual heal to something useful again, if you had some investment in healing power.

Considering they left the broken Inscription trait untouched for three months, my hopes are not that high to get us out of the Tempest/bunkery role we have in PvP now.
Everything we are suggesting for pretty much years now has only been touched on the surface (Cantrip dominance, lack of sustain outside Water, HP gap to mid/high HP professions, Sceptre issues etc.)
Compared to Druid, Warrior with its resistance and Scrapper, I think Tempest “should” not feel the nerf hammer too much, but we all know Anet balancing has never be subtle.
From a global balancing perspective, I think conditions have to be toned down across the board and boons are far too stackable.

I would not mind if I had a message when entering a map with a “hidden achievement”, so I can actively search for it. This way you could find e.g. the new Ley Line collection events that have been added with the last patch.
But the current system is way to inconsistent and we should not be tuned to look at Dulfy’s site, because Anet thinks that “poking your surrounding area in complete darkness with a stick” is a fine idea.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
The work around with the guild bank to access your personal vault is a no go to me.
We need a regular bank/vault access now. Losing track progression, because you need to deposit items from your full bags via LA is not good.
PS: I never had the impression that WvW crafting stations contributed a lot towards queues (= lazy PvE players being idle there). Cities are no longer social hubs for servers. Megaservers killed cities as social hubs. That can’t be a reason for the change too.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
I think the distribution of stuff you need for Legendary items across all game modes is in an OK state now.
If WvW needs any reward track, it is one to be more independent from PvE farming for mats that are required for tactics & improvements (e.g. Flax Fiber, pigments, dust etc.).
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
Please don’t feel personally offended, but I want to point out that you have posted here already (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Gift-of-Battle-Feedback-merged/page/13).
Although I think it could have been better communicated by Anet when exactly the vendor will disappear from the map (hiding the info in a wall of text in April is a bit sloppy), the amount of dedication to fill up on WvW reward track ONCE to get a Gift of Battle is not too much to ask for.
If you compare the time you have to spend for a Gift of Exploration to a Gift of Battle, everyone will have to agree that the Exploration one needs way more time and dedication than the Gift of Battle.

After weeks and weeks of facing double language servers (e.g. having two French or two German servers paired up against us, I wonder whether Anet could reconsider their match-ups either by pairing up uneven language servers or at least intervene in the creation of “super servers” of a language type.

So many people playing PvE are now it for the commercial side,, farming, zerging. I have come across so many PvE who are so bored. Everyone is doing the same as everyone else. I look at the map screen longingly at Crystal Desert and other areas that are not opened yet craving a bit of something different rather than the huge zergs that just run around doing what everyone else is doing.
I will address the reasons you have mentioned for your boredom: repetitiveness & not wanting to compete for money and loot.
I agree that PvE currently has a bit of content drought, because the “Current events” keep dedicated players only active for a few days, until the next step (they bounties were designed a bit differently, because you had to do the hunts every days for some time – but still, should be finished by even the casual player).
But what about going into the PvP league if you are a pure PvE player. You might enjoy it, even if you only try to get to Emerald. You could also meet more active players in WvW, due to the server linking. Find a small sized roaming group & don’t zerg. You will have fun for some time.
Over all, I think Anet knows that HoT content has not slowed down an ageing game enough and Raids are nice – but have not reached the majority of players.
Perhaps you should just make adjustments to your in-game schedule and take longer periods “off-game-time” to make you come back with motivation again.

The basic problem is that there is an item (flax fiber) needed for a basic WvW component (tactics & improvements), without WvW offering an adequate source to gain that item.
A good solution would have been to add a WvW reward track that is called “War supplies”, where flax fiber, various dust & badges come as guaranteed drops from boxes.
Another reward track could be “War Room funding”, where you can gain materials needed for unlocking stuff in the War Room (like leather, textiles & wood for paper etc.)

I would prefer them not to use them as instances, that would imply that people would have no reason to return to them after they experience whatever is there once.
As a persistent zone, with events etc would mean everyone could come back whenever they want, and still just…do stuff, like a normal zone
I would put 2ct on a very vocal raiding minority to cry havoc, if the maps would be turned into normal persistent zones, because they “owned” the right to have those maps, because of raiding. (although I would prefer this as well)
The instance idea is a middle ground, which gives the majority of players something they long for and does not annoy the “elite” too much that they complain.
It would be on Anet to make the decision.

-I still think Glyph of Elemental Power’s stun break functionality is counter-intuitive to how the skill should be used, but don’t know how to rework it
It would help a lot if you got the choice of using it for Condi damage or withhold it for stun break reasons. The current recharge is keeping it for that option.
My solution:
Recharge changed from 45 to 30 seconds and duration from 30 to 20 seconds. The total upkeep time of 2/3 the recharge time is intact, but the chances to use it as a stun break are higher.

Aurora Peachy brought this idea up in the last guild gab on her YT channel:
Use the Raid zones as instances for Living World.
This way you have well developed and polished maps already in existence and you can fill them with story, lore and PvE content non-raiders are currently missing out on.
Raids would still be the thing to do if you want the shiny rewards, but the general public would have a chance to catch up with what Raiders know about the Bandits & the White Mantle + Bloodstones.

It must have taken well over an hour for the “log into GW1” procedure to work last night.
There could not have been a problem with GW1 updating during my GW2 game time, because I had maxed out every possible thing for the HoM track (the full 550 APs) and have not gained any track in the EotN HoM since GW2 launched.
I’ve just check my Account page again and GW1 still is set to “buy”.
Anet Support has not answered to my ticket yet (and if everything remains like it is now, I am fine with that), but why it happened at all is quite mysterious to me.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
FYI: The HoM points have magically re-appeared this morning. Unless the log-in to GW1 has a delay to work on the GW2 account, I have no idea why everything is back to normal. I guess it remains a buggy thing that should be investigated.
PS: The GW1 account in the account management options is still set to “buy” and not “active” like HoT is.

When I logged in about 2 hours ago, my GW2 account had completely lost any connection to GW1, like it was never linked. I got an in-game mail, that my HoM rewards had been revoked (and they have set all my HoM achievements to zero, resulting in a loss of 550 APs).
Re-logging into GW2 did not help and dusting off an old PC and logging in GW1 did not help either.
I have already sent a support ticked, but wondered, if it is related to the latest patch and if anyone else had experienced the same.

Is there anyone at Anet working on guild management improvements? IMHO, there are a lot of things that could be done to make the life of guild leaders / officers & guild scribes easier.
The following list would improve everyday maintenance a lot and I am sure I am not the only one asking about things like that in the past months & years:
>> Split up the “guild message” into a permanent “black board” on a guild tab (for Rules, TS & homepage IPs etc.), a “shout box” that allows you to broadcast a short message to everyone in guild & the current log in message type.
>> A way to black list kicked members
>> A way to sort guild members by servers, so you can e.g. see who is on your “main server” (useful for WvW teams) and who is on another server (e.g. those are no able to claim objectives and use tactics from the War room).
>> Transmit what kind of guild upgrade has been unlocked & not just the guild level. People like seeing the guild progress & celebrate.
>> Make the GH NPCs call out to you whether an upgrade is ready to be unlocked.
>> Allow guild bank access at Workshop so Scribes have easy access to donated items.
>> Give guild buffs from the tavern a colour scheme, so you can see by the icon which buff you currently are running.
>> Make some WvW guild missions (dolly escort, land claim) doable by one person.
>> Give “decorators” new tools to erase decorations more precisely and locate “misplaced” parts (which happens a lot when you build stairs out of clouds and they appear somewhere far far away).
>> Change the guild mission timer in PvP to “matches played”, because waiting in queue should not reduce the time you need to get the task done.
>> Display the currently claimed WvW objective in the guild window, so you can see if you need to claim something (perhaps even get a message if it is under attack or upgrading)
If there is nobody working on any guild management / quality of life related things, can you please assign someone to the task.

Anet decided to go for years of great balance problems, when they did no make the health point difference smaller between low, mid and high HP professions, after players brought that up in the beta of GW2.
They will never touch the HP issue. I made my peace with that.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
All new elite professions of HoT shared the theme of “help allies” (e.g. passive boon sharing + boon enhancements) & “affect areas” (more AoE skills than the base classes).
A new Ele specialization will heavily be influenced by the new common theme. Until we know that, we can just look at stuff Ele currently lacks (outside of inner class imbalances).
I would say Ele still needs a reasonable Condi based option other professions have. In terms of range, I think we actually need another long range option (against the common wish for a melee weapon). As a profession specific option, perhaps something like the old Exhaustion mechanic would be a good F5 ability.

My problem after hitting the daily/monthly cap + 161 Mastery points (I don’t raid) is that there hardly is any “fun” activity left that awards you with a reminder of a steady progression, so I can work on my total APs.
Everything that is left over is “dull work” or “hard grind” or out of my hands to do alone (e.g. Shatter break bar achievement).
My XP gain feels wasted, because the game lacks a way to e.g. infuse Consumables to grant Map bonus instead of XP bonus.
Currently the game lacks the small, recurring reward for veteran players that still are there for fun stuff and have not turned the game into a job.
PS: Does a new player really expect to catch up with a 4th year veteran, knowing that there are historical achievement that will never be back? I have my doubts.

This is still an ongoing issue. New “report” posts have been added to the original post.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
Well, the cost of “linen” supply sacks (“basic supply sack” would be better) has not been addressed in the “Scribing fix”, which was a clearly overlooked issue and should be reduced to 6 Flax Fibre a sack (= reducing the cost to 50% on that component).
This would reduce the cost of many WvW upgrades a lot, especially after we still don’t have a WvW track that gives us large numbers of needed materials for Scribing (pigments, Flax Fiber, 10x fabrics from kittens, 5x dust kittens etc.)
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
If both researchers would only start on different time slots, so the “event zombies” can hop from Priory event to Consortium and back again, it would at least reduce the waiting time.
Right now, it is a “best ping = least frustration” event, which is very annoying.
I am waiting for a fix and stopped waiting for a researcher.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
It did not “ruin” the game, but did it “hurt” the game?
Yes, the original HoT release did hurt the game in quite a few aspects, that dampened the excitement about the things they added with the expansion.
e.g.:
>> guild progression: GHs are (even after the April update trying to balance Scribing) awful to upgrade and have fun with for small guilds, especially for those who played WvW.
>> the ruin of normal crafting: GH upgrades and precursor crafting (as good as it is eliminating arbitrary RNG) has broken normal crafting for new players or alt characters. It is way too expensive to be useful these days.
>> base game concepts completely unfriendly to solo-exploring: The HoT maps make it pretty much impossible to get hero points and mastery points in solo game play mode. This is completely different to what the base game allows you to do when enjoying to play alts. As you need huge amounts of HPs to unlock elite specializations, the fun of getting those by switching to alts for a few minutes is gone. Character progression is “work” in GW2 now.
>> treatment of WvW: The neglect of WvW over the years left players in no good mood before HoT was released. The Desert Borderlands went live and had no chance to begin with. The lighting weapon meta event caused map lags and was badly scaled to be done by few people, not resulting in good open field fights over the mid area. The map had too many “barriers” to roam (although travelling times were more a psychological issue) and upgrades were the domain of the filthy rich large guilds. When Anet finally made DBL good in the spring update, they already announced the return of the (old & stale) Alpine BL. No ideas for seasons, ranks came too late and still don’t have appropriate WvW rewards & no WvW exclusive skins etc. It is still a mess.
>> Story, Lore & Raids: With LS season 3 coming later than everyone expected, putting Gw2 lore picking up strings from past events (GW1, Bloodstones, White Mantle & GW2 Bandit mystery etc.) in a game mode that is catered to the hard core gamer is an absolute no-go.
Will GW2 be a “fun game” in the future months, perhaps with a second expansion?
I have my doubts and would say NO right now.
Does it offer chances to “work” for goals. Yes does. We as players have to decide, when “working for a game” has depleted all the fun we can have with it and then move on to other things that still make us genuinely smile.

The order of several masteries is what was bugging me, the masteries themselves are a good idea IMO.
e.g. Nuoch Alchemy – This was my last mastery to unlock and Chak goo drove me crazy until then. Potoni (Nuoch Proving is pretty useless though and unlocked before the Alchemy. Stealth detection could be higher up too, because it is not required to kill Mordrem Snipers and the Treasure Mushroom is just optional. The only problem with moving it to the 5th slot would be that in the first weeks after launch the stealth night boss in VB would have been a mess.
Exalted Purification could have been the last spot too and Exalted Gathering is so random, I think I got like two Auric Slivers so far (in weeks). Almost everything I nagged about can be applied to Itzl lore too.
Gliding seems to be pretty balanced to me.

Time / event gated achievements - directions?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Gorani.7205
Having tried to get some achievements in Tangled Depths the past few days, I noticed how much stuff there is either time or event gated to reach (e.g. only a certain event spawns a boss, some events are on cool downs with events resetting them etc.)
While I don’t have a general problem with that design, I have an issue with how it works in GW2: You need better guidance to find clues when or where you can reach those “achievement triggers”. This could be done by including a bit more text in the actual description of the achievement or NPCs / “junk items” that lead you to the location.
e.g. Potoni in the Nuoch village tells you: “What are you talking to me for? The beetle trainers below need help!” So you know that you have to help the beetle event chain.
That’s good.
Lore Seeker Zolin next to the WP says something random about the chak, which leaves me with no clue what to do. I personally have no idea how to trigger him, wiki does not help either (with the exception it tells me it can go on a cool down of 15 min)
The air ship wreck in the Ogre village has a secret achievement, but can’t I at least get a hint that I need to get up there? (an NPC on top of the ship? a chest?)
“Destroy all of the chak eggs in the scrap cannon adventure in one attempt.” This sounds like you need to follow the SCAR area meta, right? Except….there are no eggs there. So, you really need very good intuition to imagine you need to do the scrap rifle adventure and shoot at all the eggs on all platforms.
Long things short: We need better guidance in game by descriptions to find our way to events and achievements. You should not have to run around randomly or consult the hive mind of the wiki to make up for bad guidance in game.
Do you agree? Did I run around too blindly?
PS: and what the hell does trigger the Lore Seeker Zolin for the “Regurgicidal” achievement.
