Achievement reward chests need to be boosted

The PvP skins were great. I liked them a lot to fill my Wardrobe. I wish the Magic Find percentage impact would be a lot bigger compared to salvaging & using up essences. I think my MF bonus makes up 10% of my total.
That thing is something they could boost up without problems of missed out / retroactive rewards issues.

Elementalist Preferred Changes

Too many changes, will never happen mate.

Anet has shown now real effort of bringing diversity to the Ele profession in years now. Suggestions about giving us viable Condi options, reducing cool down on Glyphs, strengthening both Signets & Glyphs + Conjures have been made by the community for years too.
Metabattle builds are based on a combination of Tempest specialization, Cantrips and Water Magic. I would not be surprised to see this ongoing after the fall update, which is supposed to bring a new balance round.

The cool down bug has been reported before, I have added you complaint to the others in the summary thread I have made weeks ago (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Elementalist-Inscription-Trait-inconsistent).

I am not sure if the tool tip was pruned a while ago, only showing the available boon on the current element + the Inscription bonus.

The cool down still needs a fix though…

Daily Completionist / 10 Point Achievement

Gorani.7205

just adding this:
If you have not reached flat 15k via the total sum of daily + monthly points, you won’t get the leftover points, because the game only awards 10AP or nothing at all.
This means you could be left with 14991 to 14999 points for the total.

Achievement point help

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

The total APs from dailies (+ historical monthlies) are still capped at 15k max, so you can potentially catch up. Getting the 10APs for doing the dailies (3 tasks across all game modes) will progress you steadily. What you have missed permanently are historical APs (e.g. LS season 1 and many seasonal events + some clean up achivements) found here too: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement

I would not advise you to go for huge junks of points, but a steady progression to go for you goal (e.g. do dailies + one JP + one story progression a day).

So Scribing is fixed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

IMO, scribing is in a better place now, but still not perfect

> Sand supply should go up (still limited to two maps & PvP track) or sand requirements should go down more (to free up some sand for Kegs). Five Coarse Sand for one sand paper sounds a lot better to me.
> Flax Fiber is still too scarce for making supply sacks, which are needed for so many WvW buffs. Please reduce the cost from 12 to 6 /per sack.

Many decorations still need a lot of tweaking to reduce costs (100 Tribute Badges?!) or complexity of prerequisite decorations.

Escort & land claim as 1 player mission?

in WvW

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

What do you guys think about the “WvW tweaking idea” of turning the “supply line/ dolly escort” and “land claimer” guild missions into tasks a single player could do, instead of it requiring a team of three?

I think there are several good reasons for making the change:
> The tasks really does not require a small group at all, but can still be challenging in mid and hard versions of the mission due to time constraints (if you do it alone).
> It would make more casual WvW players want to visit WvW maps more often and not in specific time windows (e.g. no one really likes the hard escort when you are the underdog in a fight on prime times). There is always a reason to come to a map, even if you are currently ticking low.
> It adds an additional dynamic to maps, when e.g. a small group spreads out on the map to flip sentries
> More escorted dollys make servers less depended on speedy dolly improvements. That makes a map upgrade faster (with actual player involvement, not auto-upgrading)
> With Slivers being available in such high numbers now for scribing, the influx of slivers via getting those guild missions done more often will be neglect-able – but could be a chance for small guilds to earn additional favour.

With WvW now in a beta stage, I believe the change to reduce the number of players for those two tasks would be a good change.

Quarterly Update feedback

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

After a few days I found another small thing that needs adjustment:
ANet added the WvW ranker achievement back into the daily rotation without giving us the option to buy WxP from Laurels (or get WxP potions -yet). While gaining two ranks with the help of stored or bought potions was fine when they still existed in game, the achievement feels out of proportion now, compared to others (especially since Capture Keep can not be done alone and Capture Tower is very risky alone).
Just compare that to harvesting, vista, participate in a PvP match etc.

Some decorations need further reductions, like statues that cost the equivalent of 3000 Badges of Honor.

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

Tower canons in home BLs are at very risky places for defenders, with very limited angles you can shoot at enemies. The only asset to defender is their role to shoot at people already in combat. I am pretty sure I can’t kill a person with the canon if they just try to run by or close in (with max Canon mastery + siege master).

Walk times are fine now. Either get a Shrine for faster running or hold a keep for WP to get faster south.
The only thing that is bugging me a bit are the role of the towers. Now with barricades gone (decent move by Anet), tower block even less than before and have no strategic value either defensibly or offensively. You could say that this is an exclusive feature of Alpine, but that still does not define their role in Desert BLs.

The only “complain” about the update (aside from bugs they introduced) is the fact that Sand is still too hard to come by via average game play (or the costs are still to high, chose one). You need far too specialized tasks to gain Sand (two maps, a PvP track).

Items "lost" in treasury by level fix?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Gorani.7205

Last night’s patch (21st of April, 2016) reverted guild levels to their actual value (lvl 36), but because our guild accidentally was already showed one level higher (lvl 37), people contributed to the +5 supply upgrade (Fossils, Evergreen Lodestones), which are now gone from the treasury.
Are those items lost or are they just not shown yet, because their slots disappeared together with the items?
Will they re-appear when we reach lvl 37?

Year of Ascension (Problem)

in PvP

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

across the 4 seasons you only need to reach ruby twice and saphire twice, all of which can be grinded enough by any skill level as you cant drop down tiers and will eventually make it there if willing to put in the time….

I am not sure the 2x Ruby & 2x Sapphire is the sweet spot. Currently, we are getting close to half time and the “cross tier” achievement is the one thing that is holding me up in my personal progression (I went to Sapphire in season one and I am now in Ruby). I am feeling, like it would be better to need one total tier less to get the final wings – but we still have two seasons to go.
The “pro PvP player” can be identified by having the best wings NOW, which IMO should be reward enough. Allowing a lot more “casual” PvP players (or PvX players that divide their game time between more modes) to have the wings by the end of the year should be the way to go for a reward structure.

PvP players that complain about “scrubs” having access to shiny cosmetics should also consider that PvE players can actually use RL money to buy them (so no skill or dedication involved) and WvW players have pretty much nothing to show of their devotion to the game mode.

t2 desert camps

in WvW

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

Do you guys spreading venom here on the thread actually realize what Tyler Bearce is trying to tell you?

It would be easy enough to move all the camp guards closer to the center, so you’d always have to fight all of them to flip a camp. But to be clear, you guys are arguing that you want to do ‘more PvE’, which seems to go against the forum’s current agenda of ‘less PvE.’

The first part is important, not the one about PvE.

You should have an advantage of the “human factor” of clever positioning to fight LESS NPC guards by luring or getting part of the guards to certain spots to kill them without aggro’ing the rest of the camp.
Having a close group that all attack you when one is triggered (pretty much all of old ABL) is not the better design. It just made you seek out one specific choke points and the use of the best meta AoE/CC to take down the NPCs. The amount of having to think about cleverly taking the camp is reduced here a lot compared to the DBL camps.
I agree that the SE DBL camp needs a fix, so you can’t kill the supervisor inside the stable, but I firmly believe that having all of the guards aggro & standing in the circle is two steps back.
Ideally, the “basic guards” (not the patrolling ones) should have a spawn spot just inside and just outside the circle, so by RNG the camp looks different. This way you are forced to use your brain and you will benefit from observing the situation at the camp.

Mastery points, ugh [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gorani.7205

My biggest issue with mastery points is them being locked behind silver and gold Adventure rewards. If that would be “scaled down” to bronze and silver, you would get enough points to train the vast majority of mastery tracks by “playing the game”, leaving gold rewards for those keen on leader boards.

is toughness gear really worth using?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gorani.7205

High toughness on a low health pool class will make you a monster magnet. You are very likely to catch aggro from pretty much everything in sight in PvE. learn to deal with that or you will not be able to use the benefits of high toughness.
Toughness is probably used best in WvW, when you can get in AC fire or AoE fields and you have to escape (because you won’t have double dodge & blocks/evades ready).

What if HoT maps weren't as difficult?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

The “difficulty” of HoT maps comes in a great variety of things that – added together – makes the maps not fun (and not difficult).

Some things have already been mentioned here:
>> Navigation: The 2D map is completely useless and sometimes even misleading. If you have not maxed some masteries navigation is even worse.
>> So many CC skills on mobs. Fungus, saurians, Mordrem, pretty much everyone has a CC this is just highly annoying when you want to get from A to B.
>> Waypoints are often contested, so yo have to walk/glide/jump there, so CC mobs are a greater nuisance.
>> Hero Points. A lot of them require you to fight champion mobs with break bars and are sometimes even hard to beat with 3 or four people (e.g. Vampire beast in the top level in VB). This makes you depended on help and leads to HP trains that draw people away from meta events.
>> Meta events scale pretty badly (IMO), so that e.g VB night time camp defense is almost impossible to solo, which will be much bigger problem when population shifts out of the HoT maps in the future.
>> The cycle for meta events is way to long. While VB and AB are tolerable TD and DS are a no go. Anet did a lot better with the meta events in SW. You can get in and out of those any time and still feel like you are doing well.
>> Meta event lock out. Meta events don’t only lock you out of things you want to do on a time scale, but also in terms of accessibility of content when it comes to Adventures. If you can access an Adventurer only 10min each hour, because the meta chain did not progress (or has not started or just ended), you will stop to bother. Hell, I haven’t even played some.
>> Adventures themselves are horribly balanced (e.g. Shooting Gallery to name the worst offender I know) and are tied too much to collections (IMO) and to mastery point acquisition.
>> Acquisition of Flax (& Sand). This material needed in Scribing and Guild Hall upgrades is limited to a few spots in the HoT maps, but is needed exponentially more for every day stuff. Don’t tell me, you don’t have dedicated Flax Farmers at Itzl town, too.

All those things listed are not fun-draining too much, if you had them occur scarcely, but HoT maps add them all together in a few maps.
To keep players on those maps, Anet’s team has to address some (or all of those issues) to keep people playing there.

Hopes for the Scribing Update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

Increase supply PLUS reduce costs

e.g.
>> pigments need a much larger chance to be a rare salvage (on par with stuff that comes from ore nodes)
>> out side of HoT zone chances for Flax, like allowing us to buy a flax node for the home instance or guild hall
>> use lesser tiers of evergreen / mordrem slivers for decorations and not just Lodestones
>> reduce basic cost of pigments in Kits by 80% (from 10 => 2) as well as sand costs for sand paper
>> reduce amount of pulp you need for papers from 5 to 2
>> reduce the cost of slivers by 2/3 (from 3 to 1)
>> replace the lower tier, lesser “set/kit” with a karma cost item from the master trader
>> reduce the cost of fibres in Linen Sacks & Ropes by 50% & 75%
>> take a look at way more insane mat costs in decorations
>> tweak Writs/Books so they are always an option to gain XP to level up. This way you can at least make a consumable to use and are not stuck at a level with only one item giving XP (e.g. Guild Banquets!)

Probably a few things more (and a lot more if it includes general crafting and not just scribing – I am looking at leather supply!)

Tactivators alphine BL? Yes or No

in WvW

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

Yes.

That said, we’ll be increasing the cooldowns on all tactics by 5-10 minutes. Also, once the scribing costs come down, as part of the april build, we can start looking at rebalancing their actual effects as well.

Thanks Tyler, because this is a reasonable approach to dealing with the tactics.

To all the hateful people here on this thread:
Have you been the same people that complained how stale WvW was for a very long time? Tactics & Improvements actually offer a lot more diversity to the mode, when they are not just used by the powerful & wealthy like now. Reduced scribing costs will allow more of them being placed on the maps and smaller guilds and roamers to deploy them as well. Reducing some super powerful effects is what can be evaluated in the beta-phase of changes in WvW.
Alpine maps will benefit from them in the long run.

No it isn’t. The staircase was made out of 382 clouds the last time I checked it in our GH. It starts right in the center of the GH south of the central WP. The path to the “updraft vent” (the one that vanishes when you get close or after a while watching it) is half way up the staircase.
The sandy area you see is on top of the rock formation that creates the ceiling for the mining area. You can easily hit invisible walls that are the boundaries of the rectangular box that surrounds the complete Gilded Hollow map.

Upcoming changes in Spring Quarterly Update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

With the quarterly update we’ll also reduce scribing costs across-the-board. Here are some of the ways that will happen. We’ll reduce material costs on recipes: for example the Basic Ink Set will no longer require a Simple Ink Set, and each Sandpaper recipe will now require less Sand. Reducing the demand for basic materials will reduce their prices. We’ll add significant new supplies of Resonating Slivers, so that they no longer serve as a barrier to scribes who don’t have a guild supporting them. And we’ll increase drop rates of certain other components. These are going to be impactful changes, so we want to give you this advance notice, and encourage you to consider pausing here and waiting for the quarterly update before doing a lot of new scribing.

Mo

I know we don’t know every aspect of the update yet, but I have a scribe related question coming from the paragraph Mike O Brien wrote:

Will the reduction cost of scribing apply to getting and upgrading decorations, too?
I am thinking about base prices (50s), Linen Ropes, Evergreen Lodestones used in every “plant related item” (instead of lower tiers) etc.
Also, will WvW be able to generate more materials to create tactics & improvements, as WvW players can’t fund anything by playing WvW (and have to have PvE farmers to come up with the materials).

Compensation regarding scribe/decorations?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

I don’t expect any compensation, not because I think we don’t deserve one for being “early adopters”, but because of the technical difficulty of giving us one.
e.g.
How do you refund? Who should get the refund? Does it appear in the guild bank – but what if the guild has every slot occupied? What gets refunded, coin, materials, slivers?

It would be a nice gesture, if we could get a free special decoration from Fion for each guild level we have achieved – I just don’t count on it.

Improve walls pls, so we can defend

in WvW

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

… and I think wvw needs to move towards a path that encourages players to fight each other, not siege and doors.

An there is a problem in the discussion here:
XTD wants a plain battleground to fight other people everywhere?
I think he can still have that (e.g. in the Oasis ruin, all of the sand area on top of Fire keep and most of the south of the BL).

Others, including me, want strategy on placement of scouts and siege to cover and defend / lay siege to – and that should be a good part of WvW.
It is always great to place siege, either offensively or defensively where enemies can’t reach it just because they can move (shoot there) there without effort.

This leads us back to the problem with the low walls on the “common towers”. This natural defense is without function when it can be dominated by two people with AoE rings standing at the bottom of the wall (miss-)using a game mechanic.

The new towers made a lot of things better in their design compared to their Alpine counterparts (e.g. a back door, some parts that could not be destroyed etc.), but the basic wall still is a problem (+ the canons which are a zone of death to the defender and not for the attacker.

The sigils you have listed are really the sigils on your weapon? I mean, icons can look pretty similar and your Blood sigil might be a Fire one (which would explain the flame burst). Other than that, I don’t have an idea what is causing it.

Improve walls pls, so we can defend

in WvW

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

The main problem with walls is how targeting and AoE fields work.
e.g.
A person attacking a wall can always cast an AoE on the edge of the wall above and the AoE circle will extend to the battlement above (= Meter Shower / Necro Well problem).
The person on the wall, casting the same AoE skill will cover the side of the wall (not extruding out to hit any attackers standing close to the wall) with his semi-circle not on top of the wall.
Therefore the AoE fields will always benefit the one at the bottom. On top of that bias, the person on top is also the one not being able to get a line of sight at the attacker below, making standing right next to the wall the safest spot for the attacker (contradicting historical & logical aspects).
Since non of the above problems will ever be solved, the only way to address the problem is to give people on top “pulsing benefits” and attackers at the base some sort of de-buff.

Some ideas could be:
>> apply Aegis to defenders every 10 seconds & cleanse one condition every 10 sec.
This would allow being at the rim of the wall with less danger of being pulled off or condi bombed.
>> the blind spot at the base of the wall (360 range perhaps?) could be a field that applies cripple for 10 sec and rips a boon every 10 sec. Forcing attackes to be either a slower, more vulnerable target in their “comfort zone” or to actively protect themselves (cleansing, stability etc.)

We’re investigating whether to fix or revert DBL. They’re both a lot of work. These next couple days will be your last chance to give feedback before we make a decision, so speak now or forever hold your peace.

waits for hate incoming

If you can not get Alpine and Desert BL into a rotation, I am in favour of fixing the Desert BL.
e.g. by making tactics & improvements cheaper to use (so claiming is worth doing and PVE doe snot have to finance WvW by 99%).
I am not a fan of the bigger numbers of “ambient wild life”, so I would reduce that.
With all the extra stuff of the map compared to Alpine BL, we need a better messaging/information system to see what is going on (e.g. stuff like Overwolf is offering, with RI times.
Smaller guilds need to be lured back into WvW, e.g. by making the land claim & dolly escort guild missions doable by one person for each event (and not 3). You have alienated a lot of small guilds and you have to bring them back.

Why no total revert to Alpine BL? I have played home defense for three years there. It is fair to see and experience something new (if it is working within the parameters of providing fun fights and skirmishes).

If you are looking for a two handed sword, that looks close to a version one could actually use, I recommend you search for the “Cobalt” (with fancy blue flames) or the “Ebonblade” skin.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cobalt
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ebonblade

If you do not like the “16th century” look of the rapiers mentioned before, take a look at two gladius type skins GW2 has. Firebringer has red flames, Honor has no effect.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Firebringer
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Honor_of_Humanity

All the rest of single handed swords that look kind of real have already been mentioned (they are the basic cross hilted crafting types). Their cold be one or two acceptable curved swords, perhaps it is best to search the wardrobe.

PS: Since you want realism, what kind of silly and impractical heavy armour skin do you wear?

What's going on with WvW rewards?

in WvW

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

The problem with WvW (not counting karma trains on EotM) is that its reward system is by far the worst in all aspects of the game: coin, items, materials, shiny, recurring events, “track progression” and achievement points.

coin – rank up chests give you very little and are not as frequent as of course PvE ones, but even PvP coin rewards are better.

items – the chance to get an exotic drop from an NPC (very few of them on the map, mostly veteran status) or a killed player (which excludes, roamers, scouts etc) is far smaller then in PvE and PvP (that’s where I get most of my ascended loot boxes and rings from)

materials – the nodes are a first step, but can’t even cover a fraction of what you need to Scribe tactics and improvements. Leaving charcaters at farming locations in PvE to get materials has no alternative in WvW.

shiny – we have one set of armour that gets paid with Badges and two weapon sets that get bought with Tournament tickets (which most of us have not gotten in huge numbers – perhaps for two or three weapons?)

recurring events – not counting that dumb Golem Week, the last seasonal tournament was in 2014? PvP has leagues now, PvE has Living Story…

“Track progression” – There is no reward track you can work on doing your daily fights in WvW, unlike the PvP tracks (which reward you with something small like every second or third battle!)

achievement points – Although they have shortened some AP tracks, they are still no fun to go after. Compare those to AP tracks in PvE, where you can dedicate a gaming session of a few days on and get it done. My next WvW track requires me to run next to dollys for around 180 more times…
At the end of the reward tracks, we don’t even get a nice meta item.

Rewards are awful across the board. Sadly, I don’t expect it to get better, even wit the ominous WvW rework that Anet is working on.

Central Tyria Mastery - no XP gain fix?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

I don’t see how it’s wasted. XP is something you get regardless of what you are doing.

Remember how you didn’t gain XP in the labyrinth last Halloween? Lets hope it’s fixed this year, or it will be really quite this year.

You seem to miss my point.
After you have maxed out the Central Tyria mastery lines, the XP gain displayed on your screen does nothing. It does not progress any mastery line or level gain on a Lvl 80. Before HoT we got a spirit shard for reaching a new level threshold. Now we get nothing for the XP gain. That’s why I want some small reward re-introduced to the game we have had for three years already. XP has always been something useful – now its not.

PS: On the Labyrinth. It was a very good idea NOT to give us XP in the Laby because it was far to easy to gain XP there. It should not have been a “power level tool” in the first place, IMO.

Central Tyria Mastery - no XP gain fix?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

For players that have maxed out the Central Tyria mastery line (which is very easy for players that have been playing the core game for a while + the ability to gain XP in so many areas, including Fractals and Dungeons etc.), there has come a point where XP gain is “wasted”, as it does not progress any “advancement bar”.

Is there any fix in the works, that will at least give us karma and / or spirit shards (or something else) for gaining XP in the core game again? Seeing all the XP wasted is not encouraging at all.

Personal Guild Boost Suggestions

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

concerning 1)
I can tell you that old non-HoT players and new F2P players to my guild have been pretty sad that they could not use the guild boosts.

concerning 2)
I can see the incentive on Anet’s part to make us go and visit the GH regularly (although I would have another idea for that), but if you compared the guild buffs now and how we could have all of them before HoT (at the same time), this is a step back. Perhaps a tab in the “Storage” section of the guild tab (where the WvW consumables and decorations are), would allow us to push a button to chose which buff we want to select.

Flax and linseed oil

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

I think Anet devs have missed the chance to drastically reduce the mats in the first step of Scribing (e.g. making Linseed Oil), but nevertheless, there will be an update to make Scribing costs go down (a bit). Ruby announced that at the beginning of last week’s Guild Chat.

The problem with Linseed Oil is, that it is
a) limited to HoT maps only (+ WvW & GH nodes)
b) used in a lot of upgrades
c) usually used in very large quantities per upgrade compared to other mats

To address that Anet will either have to reduce over all costs (expect an uproar from those who paid for upgrades already) or add more chances to gain Flax (+ Sand and Pigments).

To be honest, I don’t like them to mess with the loot tables (too many chances to break stuff) and hope they will add a “once a day” Karma Vendor to either LA or GH that sells 12 Flax, 2 Flax Fibers, 12 Coarse Sand and a random Pigment. That would allow a time-gate to limit the influx on the current “economy” and give small guilds (and WvW guilds) to gradually gain materials over time for upgrades.

Crab Toss very broken

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

I talked to a few others after the round and every pick up is broken except the ones that work on skill #5 (flask + horn).
Your skills don’t change with a crab pick up, the anchor, the eggs or the fishing pole. Basic kills #1 & #3 don’t work (steal, knock away).

[Suggestion] Focus on Solo-play Experience

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

There is one thing I agree with the OP, where I wish HoT maps were a bit more solo-friendly: Hero Points.

Too many of them have a champ + support mobs spawn that you can’t solo (e.g. because of one shot attacks, fighting them on very confined spaces etc.). Elite status of the primary mob would have been enough to make it challenging and doable by one or two people.
People asking for help on HP are often disrupting the meta chains, especially when a commander rotates on the map with a train of 20-30 people for HP and there are not enough people to help with the meta events.

Scribe

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

Why should it be for everyone? And yes 600g is manageable by everyone if they set scribing 400 as their goal. It is only a fraction a legendary and even casuals seem to have multiple of legendaries nowadays.

And there is the reason you do not seem to understand: scribing and guild decorations should not bee seen from a pure monetary point of view.

Scribing and decorations (+ guild upgrades) are an enhancement to the guild experience, to work for a common goal and to grant a feeling of progression and shared fun and accomplishment for both the scribe and the supporting guild.

Just to illustrate:
Lets compare a Basic Writ of Strength is comparable to a Tray of Cherry Tarts in terms of gaining +40 to power.
While the Tray costs 2 silver on the TP the Writ costs 96 silver. OK, you might say, to make the Tray you have to have 200 Cook compared to the zero requirement of Scribe
but at least on Cook you can go from 0-200 by just discovering new food items and you are not made to craft countless book covers and guild banquets to reach lvl 75 of Cook – which you have to do for Scribe.
Levelling cook feels like a natural progression, is fun to discover, you can share the food items with guildies, sell them etc.
The thing your guildies will remember about your progression of guild scribe so far is you begging for flax, sand and brown pigments and to remember to donate the slivers from guild missions to you.

I am really happy that Anet is looking into the matter now and I hope that they will cut the costs, level requirements and formulas to a reasonable amount of things to invest in the profession.

[Question to Developers] Scribing balance?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

The question is simple: “Are there any plans for balancing Scribing?” (to make it more accessible for small and medium sized guilds and to broaden its scope of craft-able items)

e.g.
> The amount of pigments needed for kits could be reduced, to lower the over all costs.
> The amount of Slivers could be reduced to bother lower costs and allow smaller guilds to generate more scribing items
> The crafting material level could be rebalanced, so that you have more chances to gain crafting XP by refining and making intermediate components (not forcing you to craft over a dozen items in bulk, because nothing else on your current level allows you to gain XP)
> Allow us to buy some basic decorations for Guild Commendations (e.g. from the randomized things the guild trader has), so no every decoration is tied to a tier of the decorations merchant.

If nothing is planned, could we get a statement that Anet developers currently working on Scribe (guild team?) is perfectly fine with how Scribe works now?

Thanks for reading.

NPC and Character ships

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

IIRC, I only “called dibs” on Malyck when my Sylvari met him on her personal story (Where Life Goes) and I think my Norn had some non-romantic fun with the crew of the “lost tank” in the “Blacked Out” personal story.

I can’t really remember any NPC that is actively flirting with you or a chance where you can flirt with an NPC.

(although I have no noble human and can’t tell how flirtatious Faren is – I just never connected to the hype around him)

No EXP Once Masteries Are Capped

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

I have reached the point of maxing out the Core Tyria masteries today and would really like to see some sort of mechanic that allows me use XP I gain in the “off-HoT” maps now.

e.g.
>> Extra Tomes of Knowledge (that at least can be used for Spirit Shards)
>> Extra Transmutation charges (no encourage more changing of skins for those that does not get plenty from PvP tracks)
>> Some sort of account bound consumable that adds a reduced number of XP points (1/4 conversion perhaps) to HoT mastery tracks. Playing HoT maps would still be way better than farming XP in core Tyria, but it would help out a bit for those last two tier that require millions of XP to complete.
>> Some sort of account bound consumable that allows you to change soul bound WvW Proofs to account bound versions to make leveling elite specializations on alts easier (Would also encourage PvE players to go and populate the WvW maps these days)

Summary: Everything wrong with the GHs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

Being the person in our guild who took up the mantle of taking care of the guild hall and is the guild’s scribe, I can support pretty much everything the OP has written down in his summary.
We are currently at lvl 28 and reached the stage of unlocking more building upgrades to gain access to guild XP.

What the OP did not mention is the variety of decorations you can buy in its basic version, who are not tied to further upgrades., e.g.. there are no plants or basic wall parts you can erect to make the GH different from every other hall out there.

Dulfy's Scribing Guide

The guide also shows how insanely unbalanced the whole scribing profession is, because just by looking at mats, no small or medium sized guild can have fun funding a guild scribe.

Gliding in Central Tyria confirmed!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

Although I like the idea of gliding in central Tyria, I am a bit sceptical how maps, that were not made with verticality in mind would be adapted to the gliding. How many invisible walls will have to be set up to prevent map break-outs? How many new issues will arise with those? Will up-drafts be put in old maps? Will gliding be on top of the Ley-Line gliding or a new mastery track? How will it affect players without HoT?

Mastery needs more short term rewards

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Gorani.7205

Gorani.7205

The question for more rewards only comes up, because right now new masteries (with the exception of the required “transport” masteries you need to progress the story with) have very limited use to the players and are locked behind tons of XP you have to “grind” for (non-mastery related general XP grind).

Take “Exalted Acceptance”: You unlock the Vendor that shows you, you have to farm more Aurillium for a “trophy item” on a collection track. You gain nothing, but the opening of a money sink. You can’t unlock e.g. new people to talk to, new items to pick up (for playing the game, not paying). You don’t feel rewarded for getting to that point in the progression.
