Where have all the powercores gone?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

10 knight fights in a row: no cores. Getting really annoyed at this, considering how much they’ve gone up in price over the last 24 hours.
Got mine a couple of days ago as well. You have to make sure that you ONLY hit Prime when you have a full Prime Attunement (all 3 colors). If you hit Prime without all 3 colors attuned, you will not get the achievement. Then you have to be super-careful with the three separate holos.
I did it by going pure melee with my Thief with auto-attack off, and paying close attention to my attunement buffs, and would run out to go get re-attuned at about 5 seconds before it expired. Got downed a few times, but got the achievement.
Seriously. I have so many stacks, it’s ridiculous. If I had the iron and rare materials, I could make about 10 ascended ones.
the ridiculous amount of cliff avoidance you have to keep in mind while playing this map.
I highly suggest using the normal amount of cliff avoidance you would typically use in real life. Being near cliffs is dangerous. In both RL and in GW2.
In real life you don’t have magical shields popping up from people when they crouch that blow you off of said cliff, or invisible magnetic towlines, or shimmering curtains that pull you towards them, etc., etc., etc., Apples =/= Oranges.
Already submitted a ticket. This is definitely an issue in Anet’s network.
Like many others, I am experiencing massive lag while playing GW2 over the last month. Your tools are showing that this lag is a result of a significant amount of dropped packets in your own network infrastructure, and it’s making the game unplayable. Please fix this.

Because the established patch pattern since the Live Story began has always been that the first patch content is in effect for 4 weeks, the second for 2.
How did you know it was only 2 weeks? It doesn’t state that anywhere. Everything that has been published in the beginning of the month has always lasted until the end of the month. This was an aberration, and they should have made it clear that it was only lasting 2 weeks.
Past experience. Lately, LS achievements have lasted 2 weeks and I guessed the Halloween update would knock any other LS out of play.
I was right.
Wrong; all LS content that was published at the beginning of the month has remained until the end of the month. The mid-month publish lasted until the end of the month as well, and NEVER OVERWROTE the beginning month publish. This is the first time since the LS started that the first publish has been overwritten by the second.
Well if you insist I’m wrong, you’re welcome to, but I was right in assuming it was two week content and the next patch would knock it out of play (since it was a HUGE holiday one). I was fairly certain it was a two week thing meant as something for us to do pre-Halloween so it came as no surprise that it was – my guildmates were all aware too though they thought Monday might have a TA daily.
No use coming down on me though, I didn’t flip the switch that made the meta impossible and I was kittened out of my slickpack too. I just naturally assume all content is two weeks only now, saves on the grief.
Point is, you ASSUMED that they were using a 2-week publish schedule (which is weird, since the pattern established prior to this ONE patch has followed the pattern stated above.) You didn’t know.
Not coming down on you; the question was an attempt to find out if there was actually anything concrete printed somewhere that said this particular meta would be only available for 2 weeks. Since you actually only guessed at this, the complaint that it was cut out too early, without warning, still stands as being valid.

I know that at least 1 in every 3 of my attempts I can make it to the top
If you’re only making it 1 out of every 3 attempts, that is failing. That is 33.333333333% pass rate. Which is a failing grade. You shouldn’t consider this easy until your success rate is above 70%.
QFT.

Arenanet has already specifically said that mounts will not be added to the game. Period.
If you’ve already completed your monthly, you don’t HAVE to do it again, you GET to do it again, for another 10 laurels and the extra achievement points, etc. I’m pretty kitten ed that I was gated by 1 day for mine, because I was sitting with 1 more daily and I would have been done as well.
Just to clarify, you can only get the main reward once per map per day. If you repeat a map in the same day (between daily resets,) you get a 1 scrap reward.
You can’t camp her spawn location; she spawns at a random player’s location.
What I was wondering personally is, what happens to the 15% Karma Infusion I wasted laurels on for one of my characters? I don’t really need that slot for Agony Resistance (on that character at least), but I sure would like to have those Laurels back…. anyone hear what’s happening with those Infusions that are less than worthless now?
*same deal for MF Infusions down the road too…
^This. Not happy about a worthless Karma Infusion either.
I will 2nd the notion of using a Zephyr GS on your Mesmer. It looks amazing in use, and really suits a Mesmer’s particular “idiom.”
Every single chest I have opened previously is now open, with no looting possible. Currently at 5 towers. I didn’t play at all yesterday, and they’re still open today from Tuesday.
I can’t seem to find any kind of announcement anywhere regarding how long the bazaar is going to be around. I realize that they’re on a 2 week patch cycle now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the content can’t overlap. Dragon Bash overlapped with Sky Pirates, after all…
It’d be nice to have a full month to see and do this stuff, rather than having it disappear 2 weeks after introduction. As it is, I don’t have time to do any of my “regular” playing activities, being too busy chasing down kites before they all disappear before the next patch…
Find a friendly guild. All of the high-level content is geared towards groups, and you’re going to have a much easier time grouping up with guildies.
It just went off again, so the timer is about an hour now, instead of 30 minutes.
It worked once; I think they just put it onto a gigantically-long timer, like the dragons.
Sorry, our posts crossed.
It’s been over an hour since Maw started last. I went over and cleared out the grawl camp completely, all grawl, all pots, all tags. Nothing happened. Except they started coming back.
If you’re talking about triggering the Scholar, that happens AFTER the grawl attack. If they don’t attack, you can’t trigger the Scholar to walk over to the dragon statue.
So how do you trigger it?
There isn’t an active trigger for Maw. The Grawl just decide to start attacking. It’s on a timer. Period. Now it’s on a VERY LONG timer.
It happens only when you manage to hit the mob and he can’t hit back.
Just make sure that you hit stuff that can fight back, this system is in place to prevent people from abusing the environment for free kills.
Sure you can keep telling yourself that sittint on a cliff and farming stuff that can’t reach you is “strategy” but it really isn’t for intellectually honest people.
No, it happens ALL THE TIME, as the AI has major pathing issues with ridgy terrain. (This affects pets just as often, with them standing adjacent to enemies on slightly different elevations, and they don’t engage.) Fight on anything other than flat or smooth, rolling terrain, and MOBs go invulnerable incredibly often if you’re using ranged attacks. This happens so much in Orr, it’s not even worth doing anything other than running past most MOBs.
Experiencing this problem as well.
Each character progresses through hearts at their own rate. If you’re helping each other on all of the kills, you should be relatively close in completion times. It sounds like one person is doing more work than the other, if you’re experiencing wildly different time requirements.
Sorry but DODGE is a core mechanism of the game. If your computer can’t handle that, you have worse issues than completing the daily achiev.
There is a world of difference between dodging and getting “Evade” to proc. The window for proccing Evade is fractions of a second. If you dodge during a skill wind-up, Evade doesn’t proc. You have to wait until the split-second before the skill actually fires its damage-producing portion in order to get the successful Evade to count against the achievement.
The fact that you have to wait up until the point of very nearly getting hit by a big skill is what people are complaining about. Evade should proc through the wind-up of a big skill, since that’s when you’re most likely to dodge it.
Nope… Search for any enemy with AOE damage. Like the worms in Diessa. When you see the red circle, go into it. Dodge. EVADED. Done.
That’s NOT dodging as a core game mechanism, as you originally stated. That’s artificially walking INTO damage and then dodging in order to satisfy a silly daily requirement; you’re using Dodge in a way that’s completely opposite to its intent.
(And for the record, I personally know about this, and completed my daily the same way with Embers and dodging through their lava founts yesterday. The point is, this is NOT teaching you how to dodge out of damage, it’s teaching you how to get Evade to proc. What exactly is the point of that?)

Just found the EASIEST way to get this in about 90 seconds: Go find an Ember, and dodge through the lava fonts it drops. Some of them will proc Evade several times per dodge. Easy-peasy.
5 veteran oakhearts. Finished the task in 2 minutes.
Ranged attackers are fairly easy to dodge, especially ones with a visible “wind-up” like archers. As long as the arrow is in the air and you dodge in time, you’ll get the evade. Took about 2 minutes with a pair of grawl hunters.
I got multiple Chars and with the Dagger Dagger tank build not any of my chars can take down a such an Ele and yes maybe you should look around 70-80% is already playing an Ele or has one underconstruction.
This. Learn from this ^ – are you paying attention OP?
That WAS the OP.
I’ve been looking for glue and stuffing since it was revealed that we could build the everlasting tonics with our spare frames. So far, after hundreds of gift drops, nothing.
In our last run, we cleared it quite easily with 2 Guardians running around with staves, after we had finished off Toxx. The final piece was an almost invisible piece of fence.
I still fail to see whats wrong with having RPG mechanics like item progression (which the game allready has by the way) in an RPG if you guys dont like RPGs why not play MOBAs or FPS or almost any other genre which diesnt have RPG mechanics?
You could try reading some of the thousands of posts in this thread. That might help.
Lol i dont think reading anymore of this uninformed kittentorm of whining is going to help me understand why people dont want something thats a fundamental part of RPGs since Gary Gygax invented them in the 70s in an RPG…
You are dead kittening wrong. The endless gear progression of D&D was introduced in later iterations of the game. The original variants had definite ceilings on the power of the items. For example, Holy Avengers were +5 swords. Period. They never got better. The only way you could get better equipment after obtaining top-level stuff was to find Artifacts, which were always saddled with more drawbacks than benefits. The endless gear treadmill is something that was introduced in COMPUTER RPGs in the 90’s. Wizards of the Coast added this stupid idea in 4E when they mistakenly thought that they could capture the WoW crowd with a pencil-and-paper game that played like WoW. Which is why 5th Edition takes most of that crap out. Since it failed miserably.

The pages are soulbound as well.
The first book is from the ghost standing next to the Asura you got the scanner from. Did you talk to her?
Personally, I think the Invulnerable flag just needs to go. It doesn’t add anything to the game, other than pain. In its current state, it is more trouble than it’s worth, doesn’t work right, and doesn’t fix anything that needed fixing. Moreover, (especially underwater,) it’s a common occurrence for a given mob to go invulnerable, while still pounding on you.
Leashing is all well and good, but just because a mob is retreating doesn’t mean it should get to be invulnerable to attacks. It just goes counter to so many of the other design philosophies Arenanet espouses with this game.
There is a patch note specifically mentioning that you cannot transmute items that are equipped.
I’ve played just about every Profession, but I keep on coming back to my Guardian for the sheer fun of it. Incredibly versatile; I carry and use every single weapon regularly. They all have their uses, depending on the makeup of the group. You can sit back and support the clothies with shields and ranged weaponry, or you can get up close and personal with melee. And everyone will be thanking you when you have the trait that throws up a shield when you’re reviving.
Guild Perks are server-specific. You will need to start over.

This is still happening. Needs to be addressed. I’m tired of using my speedbuff and having my scepter attack aggro a mob near me.
I hit this yesterday on Yak’s Bend. Wasted 20 minutes gathering parts, only to discover that the NPC is missing.
Yes, the clipping on these bracers is simply horrendous. I stopped using them because they looked so bad. And I like them as well.
Same issue. Now I have a bunch of bankers taking up bank space, and I can’t use them either.
Been bugged for weeks at 53k. Just leveled twice (about 80k) doing personal story, and nothing. This is getting ridiculous; we’re going to miss a SECOND monthly at this rate.
