No doubt everyone is aware of the recent passing of Robin Williams.
What I am asking for is in some of the upcoming achievements that Anet add some Robin Williams pop culture references or even have some Npc’s go though a skit that Robin Williams made in one of the many films he did during his wonderful career.
Here is the reason why I don’t think that we will ever get speed boost mounts in the traditional sense that everyone associates with them. This also proves that my ideas are more plausible and compelling to make an addition to the game.
Guild Wars 2 Game Director Colin Johanson’s in this interview @ 11:20 You Hear It Straight from Horses Mouth, so to speak!(pun intended).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z33KFeMRMA
Nerelith you will also notice in this video Colin’s compelling reason that it could be possible with a combat mount system, like the one that I suggested, is that it would be AWESOME & SUPER COOL. I think my work is done here.
The wiki was doctored and falsified by a naysayer to bleed out certain wording of what was actually said so that when people read it they thought they was reading truthful statements made by Anet.
If fact the statements were from a Pre-Beta interview with Guild Wars 2 Lead Designer Eric Flannum. The question was asked and answered like this.
Will be there any other kind of traveling across long distances apart from asura gates (e.g. ship)?
Eric: “Any of the major (non-capturable) waypoints that a player has unlocked can be travelled to regardless of the distance involved. Prices do vary depending on distance though, and asura gates are free, so a player might find it advantageous to use asura gates in some circumstances. Other than waypoints and asura gates, there will be no other methods of long distance travel such as mounts, ships, etc in Guild Wars 2 upon initial release.”
here is the link to the original content of that interview.
http://guildwars2.cz/otazky-odpovedi-pro-guildwars2-cz/2/
You will notice that Eric never says No, which is exactly how the wiki reads and also he notes that there will not be any addition long distance travel upon initial release.
This says right here that there could be mounts and low and behold there are mounts be it cosmetic, or combat dedicated to the area you use it in.
Why do people keep assuming that Mordremoth will only have one champion?
Does no one remember Blightghast?
All of the dragons are likely to have several high ranking draconian champions.
Why do you assume that I am assuming?
You said “the general”. Singular. Pretty obvious.
How true…the general….and I also said Mordy’s first in command…meaning also that he could have lower ranked numerals under him.

I’m not arguing that from a lore POV that they can’t or shouldn’t exist. IIt’s simply not practical. My stance is simple 3 points … there is no need for mounts, it’s alot of work for little return, it’s not inline with the concept of the game. Two of those points aren’t even my opinion. Mounts would not get people anywhere faster than current methods. Mounts would not improve GW2 bottom line based on the work required to implement them. As a business decision, mounts would be dubious; a gamble. Anet doesn’t need to gamble.
Based on the information you obtained from the last Anet meeting you attended?
Based on the fact that it takes time money and effort to make when they aren’t needed in the game, especially if they already compromise current game content and concepts.
I don’t really care what fancy buffs you think a mount could have. Fancy buffs aren’t compelling reasons to make a whole new system to deliver them. If you want fancy buffs, it’s simply a new elite skill or whatever. There are plenty of ways to deliver buffs to team mates in the game already. Justifying mounts with buff delivery … nonsense.
I have an understanding of how the business works, what I try not to do is speculate on things without the numbers that can prove my point.
I have already proven that Anet will compromise current game content and concepts.
I also don’t really care less what you think as well, so by that token at least we agree. It’s cute you don’t care less what I think. I guess you threw that in there just to make me feel bad? I will just go back to the fact that mounts aren’t needed and too much work to bother with. Ah, now I feel better.
OH I think I heard a flea fart … must mean it’s a good time for mounts. I jest. Everyone keep making non-compelling arguments for mounts. It’s working good.
nope not really, I just gave you back what you gave me. “I don’t really care what fancy buffs you think”

Often times, it is more a compromise on what can actually be done vs. what is wanted. Often times those situations are juxtaposed.
That is why, if you look at the developer’s blogs, many things are ongoing. They do try to make it right or as best as they can. Some items are hard, others not so hard – just depends.
You are right that was a mistype, what I meant to say was that Anet has already proven. I am just saying that sometimes they will change stuff that a minority of players are actually asking for the change and the majority just has to deal with the change after the fact. Then sometimes they make changes the majority is asking for and it is not exactly what was asked for as you say somethings may not be able to get implemented the original way its thought out. But a lot of times something gets changed that everyone agrees was needed that no one was really asking for at all. And ya gotta love the Secret Nerf’s, where changes happen and no one is told and you just stumble upon it as you are doing something you always do.
Anyone who says something to the effect of “You want this game to cease being the game it is, be completely re-designed into a completely different game, with all the time, energy and resources that would drain from other projects.”
Forgets Anet did this already:
GW1 was completely re-designed into a completely different game. Its now GW2. You want to know something else I played GW1 all the way back since the beginning. That game was gem as it did not play like most games out there and never did I ever hear anyone ask for mounts even though they did provide us with some in the expansions.
But here is the real trick and you can see this for yourself on the wiki.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Utopia
Utopia was a planned expansion that got cancelled and most of its design got eaten up and turned mostly into Eye of the North which was the turning point that made this newer game GW2. On the Wiki it notes about the features of the cancelled expansion.“Little is known about the features of Utopia, however, horses, giant beetles and other mounts are featured heavily in artwork for the cancelled campaign. It’s possible that these were a planned feature, or part of a planned profession for C4, but for whatever reason were not implemented. Mounts may, in fact, be one of the “exciting new features” the ArenaNet team wished to implement, but couldn’t due to technical or time constraints, or the fact that it wouldn’t work with what they had done previously."

The complete redesign of Guild Wars and release of Gw2, is in No way comparable to completely redesigning gw2….. to make mounts relevant in gw2 .
If you say you do not see the differences you are being disingenuous. Now, if you want mounts with a Gw2 Lore background, skill set, engine, and classes, I am sure that none of us that do NOT want mounts would object to you doing as your post suggests….
Suggest to Anet that they release a new game set in the Gw2 Universe, that focuses on Mounts, Speed Boost and Combat.
That way , just as we STILL have Guild Wars for the players that did not find Gw2 to their liking, we will also have Gw2…for those that do not want Mounts.
You can name it " Gw2: Knights Triumphant" or something.
Edit: Actually this is a good idea. See the proposition has been made that the majority of the player base wants mounts.
It seems to me that if this is in fact so, “Gw2:Knights Triumphant” would quickly drain the Gw2 game since it would be giving all those players In gw2 what they wish, Speed-boost mounts and mounted combat.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Of course the opposite might also happen. No one goes to play the new game, but it would finally answer the question. Do enough players want Mounted Speed Boost and Combat enough to play a game designed for it?
I was already answering the last post, see it as I had tried to clear up some confusion about my ideas. Also that clarification could also result in the answer the question of if people really want to try mounts that are not toys, but machines of pure destruction.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Mount_concept_art.jpgDoes anyone remember this?
Just because they had some concept art DOES NOT MEAN IT WAS GOING TO BE IN GAME. Ever think they showed that concept art because they wanted to show off how good the artists were and needed to show something that wasn’t proprietary at the time? Also, just because there is art, doesn’t mean it has been modeled to fin in – that is another step in the process.
Utopia is not GW2. Utopia was dropped for development of GW2, that was stated by A.Net. A.Net, more than likely, started GW2 and Utopia more than likely at the same time and picked the best game scenario that fits in the lore and that was GW2.
I never said it was gonna be added because of concept art. I am pretty sure that I did say that most of Utopia was absorbed and ideas used to make Eye of the North. YES I did say that.
I know all to well that Anet never reveals anything in the works cause idiots will turn on them if it does not make it to game. Look with what has been announced on precursor crafting and now its not in game and people keep bringing up that its not in game and accusing Anet of making promises they don’t keep.
However in my design ideas I did come up with a skill for the damage type mount that had a Charge! skill that gave a 50% speed buff to u and your party or the nearest allies for 2 or 3 seconds.
It is unnecessary to completely redesign the game for this to be implemented since it is already in the game.
Many professions can already grant a temporary speed boost to allies. If you wish to do this, the answer is simple..Play one of those professions, and use those skills.
it is ridiculous to expect Anet to redesign the game, because you don’t wish to play a profession, and use the skills that grant you what you want.
The skills are already in the game that do what you wish.
I believe that the guardian can grant a temporary speed boost to allies, and the elementalist. Maybe one of the hunter spirits, all the warrior banners.
I am sure there are others. We do not need mounted speed boost to provide you what the game has already implemented. If you don’t wish to avail yourself to what the game has already provided, then it sounds like a personal problem.
As to your " compromise" I for one, don’t seek compromise. See for players like me, the options are :
1. Mounted speed-boost
2. No mounted speed-boost.Since we want what Anet is already providing … option 2. we do not need to compromise. You seem to feel you can say " well deep down i want 200 % speed Boost on a combat mount, so let’s compromise on a 50 % temporary speed boost combat mount?"
50 % is unbalanced. It is overpowered. Giving a Mount the ability to grant a 50 % speed boost however temporary will make those mounts mandatory. If you say you fail to understand why, that is being disingenuous.
you are overlooking that I am talking about a new area to be designed inside the Mist for mounted combat to play out. How can a skill that is only used inside this contained area be unbalancing and overpowering. Everyone in this area will be using some form of mount for a massive amount of the game play that will take place inside this area.
I’m not arguing that from a lore POV that they can’t or shouldn’t exist. IIt’s simply not practical. Based on the information you obtained from the last Anet meeting you attended? Obviously, from those statements you work for and know from first hand experience and the actually intricate workings and dealings of the current business model. If you do not work for Anet, don’t make points that you can not back up with actual facts or links to to prove you are correct, everything else is just hearsay.
The idea that mounts would not go any faster than current methods was a compromise that most pro mounters had conceded to quell the theories that going faster would somehow break the game. However in my design ideas I did come up with a skill for the damage type mount that had a Charge! skill that gave a 50% speed buff to u and your party or the nearest allies for 2 or 3 seconds.
I didn’t want to come back and get caught up in another endless debate over mounts, but what you say here kinda warranted my need to supply you with an observation.
MAGIC FIND This right here is prof that Anet can and will at their discretion compromise functionality and gear, if the desire for change is there. They took a system within the game and changed almost all of it, except for what food and boosters.
I think that comparison is flawed … MF was ALWAYS this ingame as a concept, including the idea it could be buffed, etc.. . It was simply modified to be a permanent stat on your character. Mounts on the other hand are NOT a concept ingame. In fact, nothing ingame works like a mount for players. It’s a completely new system that Anet would have to implement for questionable ROI.
See that is your problem right there. You think I am making a comparison, when infact I am just proving your original (“Even if mounts DO make it in game, I don’t believe they would compromise the class concepts and gear that is available to overcome those deficiencies.”)statement to be based on false assumptions. Whereas I provide a system in game that has been changed wherein they did in fact alter tons of gear and mechanics to change it to please a partial player base.
Also on the latter statement, mounts are very much a part of the lore and gameplay. Maybe not the way some would like to envision them. But I can name a fair bit of items that act very much like a mount….for instance in gw2 they have the broom, the sonic tuning device, Siege Golems, and most recently the newer kites. I bet a lot of people would be even more happy if they could use their utility skills with the toy items so they can get a speed boost while using them. Except some classes would hate that they don’t have dependable utilities to use.
I don’t know why this came to me, well actually I do. I had already made another topic about the Pale tree not being Mordy’s General. Since I am now talking about other individuals I thought any discussion would merit its own topic.
So for the shocker, what if, Trahearne becomes corrupted by Mordy….OMG I love this idea! I get to kill him finally. Scene-stealing Hack!
Oh no wait, what if, Caith is the one. She has been absent from the story line awhile now. And she is one of those assassin types….There she is standing behind Trahearne…..oh please let it be Trahearne that she is standing behind…and then she does the deed….I will secretly give her a kiss later on.
Again this is all done in good fun please share your thoughts on why this could happen or who you would like to be turned to the green side of the pod.
So this is back to
1. It would be cool.
2 I want it.See what I mean? These are selfish reasons. You need to provide compelling reasons that what you want is beneficial to the game. That the game, and others besides yourself, and players Like yourself would also benefit.
The Game would have to be redesigned, which takes, time, energy, and effort. You need to be convincing.
waxing poetic about How mounts On Gw2 would be super-duper awesome and feel " right". Is Not a compelling argument for why it should be added to the game. it doesn’t convince that it would be a benefit worth the effort, especially when that effort can be better put elsewhere.
The main problem with your desires is, that it means even MORE skills. Anet is having a hard time balancing the ones it has Now.
You want to add 15 new skills per mount. That means Players would have anywhere from 15 to 30 skills they could access on a mount.
That would take a LOT of work, a LOT of time. Anet is having trouble balancing the skills we have, and they’ve been at it a couple of years.
It sounds Like an interesting idea I’ll say that. But I do not think it’s going to happen anytime soon.
Personally, I wouls rather they devote the energy for doing what they can to make zerker less meta.. Improve diversity,… and give necromancers More of a desired role in dungeons.
I am not gonna debate with you about what I want being selfish reasons, I could say the same for you being selfish in your pursuit to halt mounts in any form (all the while not going on a tangent about how the game is already destroyed because of the current toys they gave us to play with)and it would have the same effect as it did on me. Basically for me the reasons no matter how selfish they seem to the opposition are as equally compelling as any other reason including “It would be cool or I want”. These two by themselves are alone enough to show that yes there is a genuine interest. I don’t have to compel or convince you of anything.
But I will say that I am saying anet has some talent and you say they don’t and they don’t even have the sense to balance some skills. Which I could offer you some of that tried and true naysayer philosophy “Maybe this game is not for you, maybe you should go play another game that has a developer team that knows what they are doing”
As far as them applying time to design of, they have already done a lot of work towards this if only you would look around and see the many things that are already capable of being mounts not to mention vehicles that are just setting in Black Citadel. Also it is a known fact that they work in teams on projects and certain dev’s work only on the items that they specialize in. With that being said the team that would work on mounts are not gonna stop the team that is working on meta builds and diversity from getting their job done. They don’t show up at work and someone says ok today we gonna fix problem x.
A reason that I want mounts.
A lot of people say hey you want mounts go play a game that has mounts. Well I have and to be honest, if they have a subscription they tend to have a nice mounted feel. If they are free to play they tend to just plain suck kitten hair balls.
Notice I said nice, not great, wonderful, stupendous, extraordinary, or any other excessively complimentary statement.
This is where Anet comes in:
It is my good belief that Anet would make the mounted feeling be realistic and smooth. They took a lot of care in the handling of the characters, so much so that you probably don’t even notice just how well and connected you are to the movement of your own toon. It just feels natural.
When you jump you feel that the distance is right on and when you mis-jump you can tell what you did wrong. In other games, you find yourself asking. Wth?
As it pertains to mounts, for example Anet already has the lower half of a horse complete with running animations as seen on the Centaurus. If you look at them galloping, it just looks like a real horse to me on the lower extremities.
Back to a main point here. Why would I leave a game I love/am having fun playing to play another game that has inferior quality. I am fine staying here and making the suggestion that Anet use the talents they have to bring even more quality to game with an introduction to a mount system that has not quite been done in other MMO’s the same way.
I have given many suggestions on how this system could be done in my older posts in mount threads. Here is an example of some of them.
Once you acquire a mount it will be placed inside a Mount tab very similar to the Finisher tab, where you can select each mount you have unlocked for your account for that particular character to use. You will have to learn the riding skill that takes up a utility skill spot that has passive and active state. If the riding skill is on your bar passively you will ride the mount with a 25% to 33% speed buff depending on the mount, and you can be dismounted by entering combat. Being dismounted also effects a cool down before you can mount again.
Mounts will be based on gw2 trinity of damage, control, and support. This will be needed, as when you activate the riding skill this will change your skill bar to mounted combat and your mount will have a certain skill set based on what role the mount is and what weapon you are carrying. Some ideas for these skills would for example support role could use a rope to drag a downed player out of aoe’s to rez them. Another would be a skill that allows you to connect to a siege weapon and haul it to another place in a new WvW area designed with mounted combat in mind. Yes of course attaching a hitch to siege will make your mount move slower.
In this area of WvW, supply will not be transported by dolyaks unless that is the mount you are riding. Supply runs will be integral in keeping keeps as you will have to go out and get supply and bring it back individually to deposit directly into the pile. So you will feel the loss of supply a little bit harder for your team that ever before, not to mention needing to carry your own stock of supply for team needs.
I don’t think many can say that this has been done to death in other games quite like this and I am sure other commentators could help build on my ideas by giving their own examples of what skills you could get from activating the mounted skills.
Even if mounts DO make it in game, I don’t believe they would compromise the class concepts and gear that is available to overcome those deficiencies.
How many people where upset that the gear they had paid exorbitant amount of gold into, to make them have better chances at rarer items only for all of that gear to be wiped of those stats. Now no one complains anymore after the dust has settled. I can say that at first I was not overly happy with MF change, but after they brought in the newer system and I seen what they did and I loved it more than the carrying of two sets of gear and my overall MF was account bound. Remember there was a lot of complaints that people wearing MF gear was hurting others for not having stats that was helpful.
It has been done before so don’t count your chickens before they hatch, it very well could happen again with other systems in game.
Why do people keep assuming that Mordremoth will only have one champion?
Does no one remember Blightghast?
All of the dragons are likely to have several high ranking draconian champions.
Why do you assume that I am assuming?
so part 2 of The Dragon’s Reach is coming…
I am starting to think, maybe that we will not see Mordremoth himself, but his first in command. I think maybe he will invite himself(I mean party crash) to the Conference with the Pale Tree and the five Leaders where, on no! One of them is going to die, but which one.
I am hoping that means that the General(don’t have a name yet) will be setting up permanent camp in Caledon Forest. Oh who am I kidding, he has been here the whole time, but you only seen the tip of the iceberg. Say goodbye to Jungle Worm and hello to whats really underneath the ground. Ya’ll don’t mind trading the worm for a epic dragon battle do ya? And some people thought the pale tree was Mordremoth’s number one.
This is all speculation and meant to be all in good fun. Please by all means discuss your own versions of what you think might happen or at least pic apart my theory.
I don’t see why people are so fussed about raids… this is GW2 – we have no trinity. All it’ll be is a group of 10 – 20 meta dps builds zerging stuff and abusing the fight mechanics to make it easier.
For one you assume to much, you act as if Anet has no ability to make it awesome. Also there is a large group of people who would love this. Just cause there is no trinity does not mean it can’t work. I know a quite a few people that think this is one thing that the smaller guilds need, as a 10 man raid could be done and maybe a 20 man if the guild pulls a few friends into the run. Heck add guild commendations as part of the reward and limit it to once per week.
Also when they introduce Legendary Armor, Trinkets, and Back Pieces this could provide a new tier of high quality materials, that will be needed to make said such pieces.
i kind of agree with him until they can define some type of roles in the combat itll be one just zerg fest
I think they are slacking up a bit on the original trinity design of the game. The newer gear with what could be considered tanky type attributes. The really only lacking thing would be skills and traits that allow you to hold aggro. I don’t see them going that far into it.
I think a lot of people appreciate not having to look for a dedicated healers to just be able to go in and have some fun. But sometimes fight mechanics for a boss type can go along way for making a team designed with the current trinity to make things like holding aggro not even needed. This has been a work in process the whole way though the game. I think they go outta there way to make these roles that anyone can do kinda like holding an item during a fight to get it charged up, this is where they placed the roles in the current trinity.
Looking at one over the other, I don’t really see much difference zerging with or without a tank it still ends up being a zerg when its all said and done.im not talking about trinity but id love to see more playable roles besides zerg or dps. protection interuption as roles would be nice if they could include them in roles. im saying i want any class to be able to do those things so you dont have to have a dedidcated type have to be healer. i just want there to more roles to play beside big damage dealer.
Yeah my favorite mesmer build from GW1 would have most bosses sitting on their bum twittling their thumbs, since the only skills that would go though are the uninterruptable ones. Btw, when I mention trinity…I mean GW2 trinity…Damage, Control, and Support. Yeah so if they brought back the mesmer, I could go total control with a bit of damage.
The Problem with GW2 trinity roles is people want stuff and they want stuff now. In order to get stuff now, they don’t try to fill those roles in the trinity that are not damage, since stuff seems to come faster if you deal more damage. But if everyone is a glass canon and boss skill x one shots everyone then its not faster anymore and that is why filling roles like control can speed up runs but don’t you dare try to explain that to anyone.
Have you seen the latest craze(and by craze….I mean stupid) on facebook. People are setting themselves on fire.

Gotta say my Guardian has been doing this for awhile now using Zealot’s Fire. I guess the Elementalist have been doing the Cold Water Challenge for awhile too.
It’s funny how life sometimes imitates art. So as a public safety reminder do not try whats in the video at home. Let the professionals in game do it.
Looking at one over the other, I don’t really see much difference zerging with or without a tank it still ends up being a zerg when its all said and done.
Before you get your hopes too high, I hope you understand that this is GW2 we are talking about.
If UW makes an appearance you can be sure if won’t have anything to do with GW1’s version. Everything will be changed and don’t hope for it to be an elite zone nor even a dungeon.
What made UW especially difficult is that you could wipe very easily, which isn’t the case in GW2 no matter how much you mess up.
If they did an exact replica of the original design with a new look, I would actually hate that.
It was not that you would wipe very easy, but moreover the fact that if you did die you got kicked right out. If they kept that one little concept it would make it a hardcore area no matter what kind of physics and concepts were implored.

Does this mean we get to enter there and see Grenth? I liked him the most out of the human gods after meeting him in the PS. He seems like a “down to earth” god who doesn’t really care who he helps as long as they do it to face evil. Haven’t gotten far enough to meet him in GW1, so that’s the only basis I have for him.
What? At what point do you meet Grenth in the PS? And no you don’t meet any of the God’s in GW1.
I think someone has a case of mistaken identity….It was a Reaper of Grenth. Well I would go along with that about meeting any Gods, but I helped make a new God and that meant defeating another God. So I know that last part you are mistaken.
I may be just getting happy for nothing, as my imagination is bigger than all out doors.
I am hoping that Rytlock following The Sword Sohothin, will eventually bring on a quest, that we will have to force open the UW and/or FoW to go after him.
Then all shall rejoice after that story completes, and we can go back into UW and FoW as the new 10 to 20 man Raid style dungeons are Re Imagined using the GW2 engine.
Come on you know you want this to happen, just a little.
I love it! Great imagination indeed.
Personally, I’d like to see Prince Rurik play some sort of role in it as well since he could be in the UW (or Hall of Heroes) and Rytlock is looking for Rurik’s sword. Maybe he helps him out to save Ascalon from the swords curse one day down the road? He and his father didn’t exactly see eye to eye.
I doubt Rurik will see a Charr and say "oh yes here have my sword…Never forget the Searing! Then again maybe if the charr explains that his Daddy laid the Foefire curse, he might be like Oh I will help anyway I can.
It’d be nice to tie up that loose end of what Eir did with the fragments of Magdir after AC story too. That’s never been adressed.
See that’s what I was thinking when I said get a quest to force open a portal to UW or FoW and go find him.

Here is how this could go wrong for you buying gem cards from a non reputable seller online.
If you see someone selling gem cards, usually they will offer them at lower than retail value, not always. This is what the ripoff seller does. First he will acquire credit card numbers that he stole. Then he will use them to buy as many gem cards as he can get. The cards get activated and then he receive them and start selling them to other people.
Now the persons who got their CC’s stolen will have reported this to Visa/Mastercard and gotten any charges taken off so they are not responsible to pay for the gem cards. The CC company’s start contacting all the parties involved. When this gets to anet the CC company’s show them the activation of the gem card numbers and then Anet looks though their end and finds out that you used stolen cc to buy gems cards and then applied the gem to your account, they have only one option and that is to permanently ban any accounts found doing so. In the end the thief is the only one who gets something for nothing.
Make kitten sure you know who you are buying gems from.
have you looked at the option of the voip that your guild is already using(that’s a maybe, not all guild have one). Some of these allow for chat in them as well as voice comms.
And yes that’s not the same as guild chat, so yes the option is a temporary one at best.
People gonna hate me…I was away for a bit logged in tonight first chest since patch, got one on the first try.
Well this is great news for me as yes I had a big misunderstanding on the actual mechanic. Thanks for pointing that out to me! I guess a dev could delete this if need be then.
another thing right now I have not even done the story all the way though because of lag I have repeated the same steps over and over and over. After this is over I may never want to replay any of it again new toon or not I have already been in Scarlet’s room ten times and listened to the conversation so much so that now I want to shoot Taimi when she starts doing her whining and originally I loved this character.
My understanding is that only after you get though the whole story before it becomes re-playable. If I look into the hero/achievements/story journal/entanglement the top left achievement is Entanglement Episode: (everything else is locked )
My understanding was that this had to be completed before the achievements in the story journal could be unlocked and the ability to replay the story with the purple stars on the map thinghy.
For many the game has become unplayable with the lag situation.
My suggestion is to add one more week to this living story.
Usually I would have already done the story and be working on getting achievements on any other LS, but I had to stop playing for the lag I got so bad I had to restart the part where you go into the tunnel like ten times.
This is what I remember about GW1 diversity….
(party) can you run “X” build?
(me)Yes I know that build….I would like to try this “Y” build, I think it would make things go smoother for the whole party…see the skill here mak….
(party) Be “X” or get kicked.
(me) You know this would be so useful doing “Y” in this particular instance, because you wil….
(party) We don’t care, PVX says that this is the meta for this class so change secondary, get these skills on your bar, show bar so we can go, otherwise kick.
(me) No need to kick, I can solo this, have fun getting your next slave.
I like GW2 no one asks me to show my bar, of course we can’t do that yet right. The only thing is doing the same weapons over and over that gets boring so yes would love see them give us even more weapons and choices. That was one thing that you could do in GW1 that I miss and that was using any weapon the game had on any class.
The problem I see is the same one WoW had in allowing flying in the old zones — the world isn’t designed to be seen from the air. Mountains don’t have backs unless you can get around them on foot. Landscape has gaps. So even with every safeguard in the world to prevent exploits from “flying” the mere movement of the viewpoint further out than a body can fall from a height is likely not technically possible.
How is that I can climb all the way up the Sanctum Zephyr ship that has crashed in Dry Top and look at the area below from the diving platform, yet it would be impossible to drift back to the ground from here as the world would tear? The Vista’s in the area are even lower down than that.
I have another idea on how to implement the Hang Glider as a Toy that could make it so it could not be exploitable as in landing in JP’s.
How about make it so that when you have unlocked all the Vistas in a map you can use your Glider to drift on the wind from one Vista to another Vista. It would function like a toy in the sense that you have hot air pockets rising up that you have to find in order to give you more lift so you can reach your final destination that you have pre-determine before you take off. This would avoid being exploitable sense you would only be able to land at the Vista you choose during pre-flight.
This would be slower than waypoint travel, but faster than walking or running the same distance.
Insignia’s
Allow us to pull Insignia from all gear as well as runes, this will include WvW and Karma bought gear. All pulls from WvW/Karma gear will give you an account bound version of the runes/insig.
No whats really sad is no BACON, even with all the piggy’s running around.
If they did add fishing to acquire seafood’s, I hope they add bacon too, so I can have some grilled bacon wrapped shrimp.
I didn’t know about this program until I bought a Razer Gaming Mouse…On their website you can download a program called Razer Game Booster….I know catchy right.
Anyway I have seen a lot of improvement from lag since I started using this program. Here is a link…
… do you think it will be shut down soon?
It’s still being sold, by retailers I think, and I am certain it is available on Steam, so I don’t expect them to shut down the servers soon.
On steam…….. (Runs off to her steam account).
Edit: (has added the trilogy pack to her wish list for easy access later).
Yeah here is a fun fact, you can add GW2 to your game library and use Steams web browser and overlay in game…..just goto Games-Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library…
Great if you don’t want to Tab in and out of the game or you could use another overlay like Overwolf which has specialty apps just for GW2 …note some of these apps are dated though. But I like the overlay in Overwolf more since I can open the browser and size it to my liking and still be playing the game. So if I wanted to look at a map of something I can have it open while walking toward the objective.
Don’t know why this popped into my ittle head, but I started thinking this Master of Peace knows maybe how to res her. Nope I don’t have any thing that can back it up…really I must need sleep since I just played all night but this is tha last thing I would expect the game to deliver on. If for some reason you are reading this and making some kind of sound conclusion on how it could happen, please share I want to hear it.
I have always thought at GW1’s death throws they will instead make it a single player game and you no longer would need to connect to servers unless it was for a few pvp parts of the game …. I would think they could at least make it single player so those who own it could go back and play as I still do sometimes….heck the guild I am in now is talking about having a TBT to go and play in GW1 that day.
Although it would be neat, it would’t work for gw2- too exploitable. the game ain’t build with an hanglider in mind- play archeage if you want hanglider-
This is because in your mind it is not possible to have it where hey its fun and not exploitable. I just gave an example of how it could be programmed to not give a possible way to exploit getting to a high spot in a JP by making it have a skill to land that will land in predetermined landing spots.
On a side note, I never understood why someone would prefer that the game they love should be vacated to get what you want when a suggestion is made. Why can’t we have that here in this game. I am sure the Dev’s say this all the time “Hey you want housing and guild halls go play this other game”, said no Dev ever.
That would be neat. Imagine jumping from the highest of vistas and gliding down. It might break some aspects of the game, but if it’s hard enough to land I guess not many people will want it for a JP anyways.
No I don’t want it to make it hard to land. What I want is the toy to automatically decide if you are close enough to land, though whatever programming is needed. It will not however land when you want or allow you to cancel it while in air to land on a point you have picked, so people will not be able to abuse it to get to areas of the game that requires you to get there though jumping or aspects.
Maybe one of the skills that comes available when you get into this toy is Land which would pick the fastest decent and land at a predetermined landing spot close to where you are in the map and maybe do not allow gliders to use them to gain exploration of the map, you can glide over it but it does not discover the area. I just feel it needs limits to keep certain aspects from getting cheated.
This new area Dry Top has gotten me wanting to see things from a birds eye view.
How about a new toy in the gem store the Hang Glider. With all the debris from the Zephyr Sanctum, I think making it have purpose for your personal use would be great. You jump off a high up spot and drift down to lower spot. Maybe you are lucky and can find a pocket of warm air rising and give yourself more lift to go even further.
Limit it, so it will only land on flat surfaces and you can not disengage the Glider til you land on a flat area other wise it will drift on the ground til a spots is found. This way no easy jumping puzzle drop ins or crashing into the side of a cliff to get up to areas design for you to climb up though special means.
Please share thoughts and concerns over a toy like this.
Have you tried looking in the sound options? There is an option to turn off vocalizations, its called Dialog Volume. Its a slider bar so you can adjust it so you barely hear it or completely shut it down, this also mean you miss the calls from team members. But yeah you got the option already, enjoy the game more. Your Welcome.
You dont get what i mean i want to able to hear the story and the npc’s but not my own charter please read because i didn’t say ALL talking in the game just my own charter.
No I got it. That’s why I said “completely shut it down, this also means you miss the calls from team members”.
This reason here, is the reason Anet will not add the option as you propose. To them it will be a very very small group of players who will use it so its not viable to add the workload. And you will notice that they have given you an option to use already even if it does not work 100% to your satisfaction. Sorry, you are not gonna get enough people to promote this idea, as within a couple of days this topic will slide off the front page and loose ability for Anet to see it and any support you got from the community, which like I said will be very very small. Good Luck though.
Make the Upgrade Extractor act like current models of Salvage kits.
Add them to the vendor as Crude, Basic, Fine, Journeyman’s, and Master. These will be bought with gold. Will have ascending stats like crude 10% chance, Basic 20% and so on
Add a Black Lion version to the BLChests that can be obtained with BLKeys. 75%
Add a Permanent one to the gems store for 1500 gems that never breaks gives 100% chance to recover upgrades.
Of course the salvage kits would need a change to make these items more attractive so I suggest that salvage kits loose the ability to salvage out up grades altogether. But as a bonus to that there stats for rarer salvages will increase by 10% each, so Crude 10%, Basis 20%, Fine 30%, Journeyman’s 40%, Master & Mystic 50% and Black Lions 75%,
Copper-Fed 25%.
I am not sure exactly how the Upgrade Extractor Kit should behave in the sense should the lower quality ones break or have a chance of breaking. Should they be purchased in small bundles the same as salvage kits if they break on use. Should they break the item you are trying to salvage with a percentage based on the quality of the kit. Will a accidental salvage of the item give a chance at rarer materials.
These are answers I want everyone to help produce, tell me which way it should work or give me a better design all around. Either way the current method of the Extractors is not something I would invest gems into and I think with the right approach you could make it a more sought out item that could be used more often.
